I have driven past this place countless times being that I work so close to it and never even thought to pay it a visit until my friend gave me no other choice. I am extremely glad he did. For Appetizers we Ordered the Creme Cheese Wontons and Golden Crispy Fried Shrimp. They were served so fast and fresh that I have to say these they hit the table as fast as they left kitchen. The sauces both were served with were amazing as well The main dish I ordered was the Pumpkin Curry ( they had me at pumpkin ). It was a mild spicy but just enough kick to make you smile and sniffle at the same time. The service here was amazing to say the least. Every staff member always smiling, always checking up on you making sure you loved the food and you were being taken care of. The only down side is it is rather small and cramped so if you don't like eating around a lot of people in a closed space it may be a challenge for you but in turn; I challenge you no matter what to give this place a try if you love Thai food. The ambiance is great right when you walk in you feel like you are at home and are instantly welcomed in. The food has love cooked into it that only family could make and to comment on the service again - When we were finished, our lovely server brought to go boxes and boxed the Curry and Rice leftovers for us without hesitation. I've been just craving good Thai since we moved to Utah. The reviews looked good so we placed a to go order and gave this place a try. Reviews are right, this place looks run down on the outside, but don't let it discourage you. We started with the pork won tons. I didn't love them because I thought they were too crunchy but my husband liked them. The green curry was fantastic! So many layers of flavor. Seriously, some of the best curry I've ever had! My husband had the Pad Me Korat with Pork and liked it. He said the sauce was somewhat sweet. The prices are reasonable. I got 2 meals out of my order so portions are generous. I was pretty pumped because I heard great things about this place, but the curry really fell short of other Thai places I have eaten at. They put more Coconut Milk in the curry than I am used to, but some people might like the more sweet curry, but I am a fan of slightly spicier curry. Other places usually have lunch specials, but I ended up spending more than I would at other Thai places for dinner! They were super skimpy on the white rice, and charged me $2 for an extra bowl of white rice. Service was sub par, even when there was only one other group on the restaurant. read more

We just had takeout. The staff was really friendly. We had coconut soup, pad Thai, one of the curry dishes and spring rolls. It was first time going there for us. The food was quite good. The good news: This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Northern Utah! Especially if you get lucky and go during the fall when they have their pumpkin curry special- so good! The bad news: they close up shop whenever they feel like it without updating their website, they simply slap and old poster on the front door saying they are closed and sometimes they will close for weeks at a time! Just a heads up. They have a policy of not serving adults from the kid's menu unless you have a kid. I was not that hungry and told the server that I wanted from the kid's menu and she absolutely refuses to serve me because it was policy. I pleaded my case to no avail. Keep in mind, it was $8.00, so not cheap by any means! Nope, no service. So, I was under the impression that some business is better than no business, but at this establishment, they obviously are sticklers for a dumb and archaic policy! Needless to say, I will never go into this restaurant ever and the rest of the group of people I was with said that for the price, the portions were very small and that they were still hungry! I have been here several times now. Their Thai Soups are superb and their green curie is one of my favorites. My nephew who spent a lot of his recent history in Thai culture said it is the most authentic Thai food that he has had since being back in the USA. The people are genuine and very nice. I was so disappointed with my meal here. I've heard great things and I was very excited to finally be in the area to grab some take out. I ordered spring rolls, basil stir fry, and drunken stir fry. I received drunken noodles instead of drunken stir fry which was slightly disappointing. The veggies did not seem as fresh as what I typically receive at other Thai restaurants. The chicken was mostly dry and chewy. Surprisingly, the only part I liked about my dish were the noodles which I didn't even want in the first place. The spring rolls seemed to be mostly lettuce and didn't have a lot of flavor, although they were very large. All in all I ended up paying $36 + tip to eat one-third of my entree and one spring roll. Perfectly cooked noodles. Flavor is never fishy. I like their cream cheese wontons, but they don't seem homemade like the other food we've tried. Their chicken satay was a little dry, so we haven't tried it again, but I LOVED the flavor! We've only ordered takeout, never dined in. The hostess is always friendly. I love Thai Food! I also feel that it's really easy to get it wrong. This place does it right. I've had all sorts of dishes from here, beef salad, drunken noodles and my favorite, pad thai. It's always been satisfactory. The portions are really well sized and there are a bunch of menu choices too. Sometimes the service is slightly slower than average. But I would imagine that's because they keep low overhead with employees. With that said, I've always had a really nice helpful waitress. 4 stars for great Thai food. Diamond in the rough. Didn't look like much from the street but the other yelp reviews made my sisters and I take the risk and it was worth it. A friend of mine recommended this little place on Main street in Layton. What a surprise! Kind attentive people, you get the impression they are one family cooking and serving. They remember me and always ask how I have been. I like to give a good tip because the food is that good. I like the Beef Ginger Stir Fry. So good, and it happened many times that I went all by myself to dine. They know me and as I walk in the door they already know my favorite spot. And if available I get it...my peaceful corner. The restaurant is old fashion but moderately remodeled, a fun little place with odd decor and much attention to their exiting culture. This place used to be my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. Then recently they changed their cook, owner, something, and it has gone down hill. They attempted to "Fancy" their food up or changed suppliers. Their Pad Thai was very bland, the Satay was horrible. We have officially been to every Thai restaurant within 10 miles of our house. Thai Rod Dee is the best. You have to take the appearance of the facility with a grain of salt. But the food is so worth it. This is a small family owned place and I believe it is ran by this small family and I think they get overwhelmed with the amount of customers at times. Don't be thrown off by this. Be patient and If you stick it out for the food it is well worth it.
