Delicious food at reasonable prices! Took my nieces for their first taste of Thai food, and they loved it.

All I can say is wow! Nice job! Presentation and crisp flavors. All Thai food has to offer. Will be on my favorite places. What a gem. It's an old Mexican place on Main Street Layton. Look past that. It's amazing. Can't say enough. All the spice you can handle and lots more. Can't wait till next visit. Huge menu. Seek this place out! Update! Came for dinner. Still kind of a dive but hey it's about the food! Service is pretty good. Seems like at most they have only 2 servers. Family ran and operated. I had the red curry! Ordered the spicy. Waitress smiled and I knew it was on. When she delivered my meal she laughed and said " smells really Hot" This was an under statement! It was so good and the burn was addictive. For a hole in the wall place and coming in mid day and finding the place empty. This place was surprisingly good. I had the massaman curry, which is my go to at any Thai place. I love the flavors of the sauce just the right amount of chicken and vegetables. I ordered it medium and added extra heat to it as I desired. I also tried some cream cheese wontons. Nice crunch to them and a decent amount of filling. Overall nice portion sizes and excellent flavors. And as they have posted when you walk in the menu and prices online don't match. read more

It was exactly as described...a dive with great food. We got the spring rolls. Some of the best rolls and peanut sauce I have ever had. The chicken friend rice, larb and chicken cashew nut were all good. I would def order the cashew nut. That sauce was divine. It was clean but there was a fly that wouldn't leave us alone. I had to come here four times to make sure it wasn't a fluke that the food was good. Each time I tried something different. I've had the green curry, a great seafood salad and today a beef noodle soup. Each dish has been wonderful with authentic Thai flavors. There were even Buddhist monks eating their lunch this time when I arrived so it really had an authentic Thai feeling. The family that owns the restaurant are very friendly and although the service can be slow when there is a crowd, the food is worth the wait. They have some mild dishes but most are spicy. So, if you don't like spicy food, ask first if your dish is spicy. I recommend this place to all adventurous Asian food lovers and it is my favorite Thai place in Davis county. read more

Not too shabby for a Thai restaurant in Layton. Decor is comfortable and very welcoming. You walk in and there's a little lounge for you to wait for the rest of your party to arrive. Looking for the bathroom is a bit of a maze and tiny once you're inside. We ordered family style so the 6 of us can share and try all of the dishes. The spicy chicken wings were grrrrrrrreat! I love the soy sauce and that spicy kick you get with each little bite. The pad Thai was a bit dry and there were only a few pieces of chicken in it. After a squish of lime all over it, the dish was a little better, but I wanted and am used to more peanut flavor. The soups I'm used to eating are the brothy types. Ladna is thick and gravy-like. Although great flavors with a hint of the crushed red peppers, my palette doesn't know what Thai soup really is. The beef salad was overcooked and very dry. I'm asp used to seeing them cut in strips rather than thin slices. The papaya salad was really good. No complaints, just enough heat so I can eat it. We asked our server to make it Lao style and she sure made sure of it! The bbq pork looked like chicken, but I was too full to even take another bite of anything. But MAYBE!!! I was saving room for dessert. We ordered the mango and sticky rice. After 20 minutes, they came and told us that the mangoes weren't ripe enough and didn't want to serve us. Boo. The staff is wonderful and extremely helpful catering to our needs. I just wish the food held up to the standard also. It just fell a bit short. I will come back if I'm in town again to try out the mango and sticky rice. read more

I ordered the Tom Yum soup. I specified Shrimp instead of Chicken, and they gave me just shrimp and broth.... I paid $20 for Shrimp and water. I called and was told that in the future I should call ahead to be more clear about modified orders. Must be the least authentic Thai place to sell Tom Yum this way. Two words: khao soi. Yes, they have a Northern Thai dish you don't often find in Thai restaurants, and it isn't half bad. If you haven't tried khao soi, make it a point to visit Thai Rod Dee and give it a try. The basil stir fry was delicious, and the jasmine rice fresh and moist. Service was quick and friendly even though the restaurant was busy. We didn't try the lunch specials because we saw other customers were getting them and the portions looked very small. Our very favorite Thai food in Davis county, and we've tried a LOT. The flavors are all spot on. I'm kind of obsessed with Tom Kha Gai soup, and I order it at every Thai restaurant I try. Thai Rod Dee's is the best by FAR. It's so so good. They also have awesome Pad Thai noodles. And I'm not a big curry fan, but their Massaman curry is pretty fantastic. Their drunken noodles are also delicious, but can be a little peppery, just fyi. Don't let the dingy building deter you. This place is amazing. read more

I have been here 3 times and the food and service was less than great. Personally, the meal I got was bland and watered down, not at all authentic. There was one person taking our orders and failed to let us know that there was not enough staff, failed to let us know the menu was limited, and did not provide a table big enough for my group even though we called ahead (we had to move it ourselves.) This place does not look like much from the outside but I was actually pleasantly surprised at how good the food is. When you go in it is clean and the staff is friendly. We really like the chicken pad Thai noodles and the pineapple fried rice. The portions are decent size and the price is good enough to try a couple dishes. Wow. This place just keeps getting better and better!! My wife & I came in last month for date night, and were not disappointed despite high expectations each time we come here! Every time we come here, I'm always tempted to get one of my regulars (Drunken Noodle, Pad Thai, etc.) But this time, their special was Pumpkin Curry. I haven't had curry many times, but every time I have, I've absolutely loved it! This was no different. Probably (and this is saying something) my favorite thing I've ever had here. It had this delicious sweetness to it, it was so incredible. Being a curry, it also had some heat, but it was the perfect amount... not too much for this white boy... And the portion was more than plenty... although I could never get enough! My wife got the Pad Me Korat, which was great as always, and we shared a beef salad. But the Pumpkin Curry really stood out as an exceptional dish! It was the favorite of the night. I can't wait to return to Thai Rod Dee on another date night. read more

Never again will I ordered from this place! My husband and I have been going to this place for many years now, and we're really Happy with the food, but today was extremely disappointing I ordered papaya salad that cost $11.99 which is fine but when I checked my food I got two pieces of shrimp so I technically paid $6.00 for each shrimp! and not even a cup of shredded papaya in it. My husband's order was the masaman and he ordered it hot, they forgot the hot part. It's not like our order was complicated and yet they fucked it up. I did noticed that the old owners aren't there anymore. They got cheap and they're charging to much for such a shitty food. read more

The curries are all fantastic as well as the coconut soup. I also love that those are Gluten Free. The yellow, pineapple and pumpkin are my favorites! I could literally dive straight into a bowl of curry with my mouth wide open and swim in the flavor sea all night. I dream of a steaming bowl of curry in the winter at Thai Rod Dee. Its probably good I dont love closer. My husband and son love the pad thai. I wish it was a little more affordable so we could eat there more often! read more

I am eating the massaman curry right now and goodness, it is delicious! The flavors and rich and sweet. The vegetables are wonderful and the chicken is lean and tasty. I also had the satay chicken as an appetizer, it was very good as well, particularly the peanut sauce. I will certainly be back for more. read more

Food was excellent!! New favorite place I enjoyed pork wontons, pot stickers, massaman curry with chicken, and chicken pad Thai. My boyfriend was impressed that there was plenty of chicken in the chicken pad Thai, no skimping here. I had a Thai iced tea for $3.99 and it came in a mug size - not sure if it does every time but it was large - the Penang chicken was definitely worth going.
