Okay Yelp-iverse, I am picky about my Thai food so I was hesitant when my husband suggested we try this place rather than make the 45min drive to our usual Thai spot. I am so glad he suggested it. I know it may look a bit run down, but sometimes hole-in-the-wall places serve up the best food. This is one of those times. The service was quick and extremely friendly, we placed our order for some chicken satay, pumpkins curry, and a noodle dish we had never tried (or seen) anywhere else (sorry I'm blanking on the name of the dish). The food came out quick and 100% exceeded expectations. The satay was wonderfully crisp and fully cooked and the peanut sauce was spot on. The pumpkins curry was smooth and delicious, not to mention filling, and is a must try. The noodles were full of crisp flavorful veggies and were amazingly seasoned. Went there based off of yelp reviews. People said don't judge the book by the cover. Totally applies here! We started with fried meatball appetizers. Delicious, we'll made, flavorful even before the sauce... I ordered the chicken pad thai. Wow. Delicious. ....Noodles cooked to perfection. Enough chicken, all white meat. Chicken was cooked as opposed to boiled, so it was tasty on its own. My husband ordered the green curry. WOW. Just WOW. Really really good! This is my second time here and ordered mu ma now. I love this dish. It's light and fresh with lime and cilantro. It does look a bit of a dive on the outside but don't be fooled the food is excellent. The staff is nice and there were Buddhist monks having lunch here too. All I can say is YUM. read more

This is a quintessential hole in the wall, gem. I've been to a dozen+ Thai restaurants across Utah and the US and this one is the best I've had. Their curries, noodles, and soups are incredibly deep in flavor and Thai spices. What this place lacks in fancy storefront (it's a laugh) and decent booths/seating, it more that compensates with what you came here for in the first place-- incredibly delicious Thai food. BTW the place could double as a hospital-- because I swear, whenever I am coming down with a cold/flu/sinus, I take-out their hot/sour soup and, "be healed!!" I'm cured. The flavor of their red curry is amazing but it, as well as the other curries, are excessively sweet which is so frustrating cause the flavor is the best around! There's no air conditioning. Longon juice ($2) - More like a tea. It's good but the longons are brown instead of white, which means the longons soak in the tea to give flavor. Chicken pad Thai ($8.99) - Ok, but nothing to write home about. The portion size is decent, but bland. Tom yum soup (9.99) - Served with a HUGE amount of rice. More lemongrass is needed. The soup is not available in a cup/side portion. Egg rolls ($4) - ok. All but one were cold. For my waiter, there was a high school student who clearly was the son of the family. He politely always said "ma'am," and came to check on me often. While the service was good, the food was mundane. I will probably choose other places to eat if I am ever in the area again. read more

Overall I'd say it was pretty tasty. I've eaten thai food all over the world and this definitely tastes authentic. Too be honest though I prefer eating at Aroy D in Ogden or Sawadee in SLC. I prefer a stronger flavor for my thai peanut sauce and the thai tea. I ate the yellow curry with chicken and the broth was really tasty. My boyfriend tried a beef soup with rice noodles and he found everything he tried to be really yummy. So with that being said I would recommend Thai Rod Dee because of the quality ingredients and the different flavors you can enjoy here over other places- that is if you're looking for different. As far as the service goes the staff were prompt and attentive, the food did take a while to come out but I think that's because there's just one little old lady cooking up a storm in the back. Yay! Another Thai place in Layton. Was excited to try, as this is my favorite cuisine! Waited 5 minutes to be seated. Another 15 to order. Waitress seemed to know the other patrons in the restaurant, so they took priority. Not saying that regulars shouldn't get special treatment, but geesh there were only two other tables when I sat down. Super slow service. No lunch specials on the menu, but the waitress said they do have lunch specials. . Ended up getting the Pad Wun Sen lunch special. It comes with entree, ragoon, egg roll and chicken satay. Also a drink. For $7.51 with tax. Peanut sauce is wonderful almost slurped it out of the dish. The pad wun sen had barely any noodles, but was quite tasty. They also didnt serve it with a little white rice, like some restaurants do. Overall, it was okay. I would return to try other dishes, just not my very favorite, the pad wun sen. Make sure you have lots of time as the service is super slow. read more

The real deal! A Thai family run business that has been doing it for over 14 years. The uncle was telling us they moved down from Ogden. Recommend the soups, they have lots of em and an easy to read menu. The waitress said the meatball soup was very popular, but they were out and she had to run off to the Thai grocery to get supplies to make more so the uncle served us. 2015/07/16 Came here to do a little work for 3 hours. Ordered the small sampler platter, the chicken pad thai and the thai iced tea. Everything on the sampler platter was delicious except the fresh spring roll, it was a bland. The chicken pad thai had less flavor than I am used to, didn't check to see if they had different spice levels. I drank a lot of the thai iced tea, couldn't get enough. Just went to lunch based on the excellent reviews and was not disappointed. Everything fresh and made from scratch, even the curry. The menu didn't have the lunch special, but if you ask for the lunch special you can choose anything on the menu, except salad, and get a lunch portion (still good size) with a cream cheese wonton, egg roll, and one chicken satay skewer, including a drink. Great price, too! Family-run, server was very friendly and chatted with each patron, made recommendations, and shared that her mother has a pumpkin curry right now that's not on the menu, which she said was amazing, so we're hooked for another visit. Went here based off the reviews on Yelp and was VERY disappointed. The green curry was runny, the chicken in said curry tasted like it was boiled 2 or 3 days ago, and the veggies were soggy. Asked for 'Thai hot' and it was a joke (maybe a 5 on a 10 scale). Service was slightly better than terrible. For Thai I would suggest driving to Roy for their Thai restaurants. I tried the pumpkin curry which a lot of reviews had suggested. It had good flavor, but was super spicy. I asked them what spice level and they told me it didn't have any spice. I usually get mild curry and then I add pickled jalapeño juice to get to the level of spice I want and this was way to spicy to begin with. The veggies weren't good in the curry at all, and the meat was just okay. I don't know that we would go back. read more

They are under new management and new owner. Lunch portions very small (if they continue like this, thel will soon go out of business). I Paid $7.51 and still was hungry. Very little of everything...very sad site to see. Asking alot but giving little in return. Food doesn't taste as good as before, when other cook was there. Lunch the other day, had overcooked soggy rice. They still display old newspaper article, that features the old cook- I think that is dishonest- they should take it down, unless she comes back and works there. I'm visiting Utah from New York. I've tried a few Thai places in the city that I thought were decent, so I was excited to find a Thai spot near my friend's place with great reviews. But I'm learning that yelp can't quite be trusted. People in Kaysville have to have warped taste buds or a thing for trash ass food. I've tried several 4-4.5 rated restaurants in or around Kaysville and they've all been terrible. I tried the Pumpkin Curry here. It came out McDonald's fast. Red flag number 1. It taste like canned Pumpkin Curry. The vegetables in the soup were crispy as if they hadn't even been cooked. The chicken was chewy and the rice was really cold. If you're visiting and actually have a concept of what Thai food should taste like or an ounce of melanin in your blood, save yourself the disappointment and drive to SLC. There are several great spots in the city. Skewered Thai is my personal favorite. read more
