Chef Paul Prudhomme was right when he said, "You don't need a silver fork to eat good food." He could have been talking about Thai Plate in Jackson Hole (JH). It's neither fancy nor pretentious but the flavors of the food are complex, rich and often fiery if you're not careful. The quality of the cooking is high. This tiny hard-to-find gem is one of our favorite places to eat in JH. They have expanded beyond a few seats at a tiny counter bar to half a dozen tables in a drafty and cramped dining room. Bathrooms are accessible only outside of the restaurant. But no one cares about that because they love the food. We've eaten many dishes on the menu but some of our favorites are: Tom Ka Kha Kai, a soup of coconut milk, lemon grass, hot and sour flavors, chicken, mushroom, and kaffir. Level 3 spice was plenty hot and let me know who was boss of this dish. Loved every bite. Green Curry With Chicken was among the best we've tasted. It's soupy but you'll want to eat it with rice to cut the spice. Pad Thai with Beef. This is not your ordinary Pad Thai. The noodles were perfectly-cooked, chewy, caramel-colored bands of deliciousness. A brief fistfight at our table, followed by a vigorous rock-paper-scissors battle was the only way to resolve who got the last spoonfuls. a typical ski trip, we often eat here two or three times because we can't get enough. Came here for the red curry lunch special and was very impressed. They said the spice level defaults at 2 (which I'm told is still spicy) but the scale goes up to 5, so to be safe I ordered 3.5 spice. It was perfect. Just toeing the line of where I like the intensity of my heat. It came with an egg roll that was delicious and in hindsight I wish I ordered more. The place was pretty busy when I got there but I was sat quickly and served attentively. Will definitely go back and try some other options for dinner next time! read more

They may have gotten rid of their lunch special because they didn't offer it when we went there at 11am on a Saturday. The staff weren't very welcoming. We walked in and we saw one of the staff picking his ear for a while behind the desk. It was a little nasty. The food. We are from California and have had fair share of delicious Thai food, they were actually delicious. The red curry that my husband ordered was yummy and with number 2 spice level, it definitely had some kick. I had the prawn pad Thai, it was decent. This place turned out to be a disappointment, specially after reading all the reviews. For a Thai place, they served no papaya salad, no flat noodles. We ordered house salad, chicken satay, chicken dumplings, Tom yum soups. Salad had blobs of lettuce without any mixing, dressing on the side. Satay was not tender. The vegan tofu tom yum soup had a ton of fish sauce, with mushrooms not cooked. The one star is for the Tom kha soup and the peanut sauce, which was the saving grace! This place is very authentic and delicious. We ordered the Spring Rolls as a starter and the dumplings which were scrumptious. The Green Curry was perfectly spicy and the chicken was well cooked. I'm fairly picky, and this beat my expectations. Lots of veggies in the dish which is always a plus. The same goes for the Red Curry. First off, they are closed from Oct 14, 2018-Nov 12, 2018! Okay, now on to the food. I've eaten here three times and each time has been excellent. The Panang Salmon and Pad Thai I can recommend. The Pad See Ew though I would pass on since they don't use the correct noodles, the flat wide rice noodles. They just use Pad Thai noodles, but they gladly took it back. The red curry has lots of bamboo shoots which I don't like and it isn't listed as an ingredient in the menu. They took it back and remade it. I was visiting Grand Teton for about a week and was looking for Asian food (ofc), and tried this place. I ordered their spicy fried rice with tofu - $16, that's normal price in Jackson, Wyoming. My original thought was, why is it so expensive. But then when I got it, it all made sense. The portion was so generous! They put a lot of tofu and veggies. I asked for extra extra spicy and it was so good. The wait wasn't long, the service was great, overall it was a great experience. They have a cute outdoor seating area. And I ordered from this place 4 days out of a week I was there. It says a lot how much I liked this place. And ofc I ordered the same thing every single time lol. Quite the hole in the wall restaurant with average thai food. Hard to find the entrance, with no one there to greet you at the front, bathrooms down the hall on the outside of the building, and no decor whatsoever inside. The staff were very friendly and our food came out fast. I really liked their spring rolls and peanut sauce! The yellow curry was pretty good and so was the pad thai. It was pretty average. I've had much better thai food before, but it was good. It was also pretty pricey. $45 for two people! And the portions aren't as big as they notoriously are at thai places. read more

I attended The Thai Plate on 2/11/22, when my food came it was poor quality with little flavor and chewy meat. No server came back to see if everything was satisfactory and when I finally said something, Pete dismissed it and said, 'that's just our duck noodle soup'. Pete did not take it back to the kitchen or offer me an alternative, in fact, he pretty much ignored me continuing with other tasks while I was talking to him! Curry was too runny, Pad Thai was too sweet (exactly what turns me off about Thai Food... why are we having "dessert"? lol); and the salad was different from what I'm used to: instead of grilled steak, it's slices of grilled beef, the kind you'll see in Chinese stir fried broccoli and beef. This was very good Thai food. Served in a casual non-formal setting. It's a small place. You kind of feel like you're in the family kitchen. Service was fast, friendly and the food was great. We had a green curry which was excellent, if not a little too soupy for the amount of meat in it (we got shrimp) and the serving of rice. But very good. We also got some egg rolls (very good) and some Duck Ka Pow dish. Duck was excellent as well. I have only been to two Thai places in Jackson. The one up in Teton Village is still my favorite, but I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to eat at Teton Thai Plate again! Good stuff. We ate on a very cold night in the winter. Every time the door opened a rush of cold air would come in and cool down us and the food. (We were seated in the entry room). It really didn't bother us as we're in Jackson and are hardy outdoor people, but if anyone in your group is prone to complaining about things, don't go when it's busy. They'll get cold and you'll have to listen to them complain while you are enjoying a fine fine meal! It is BYOB. Grab yourself a bottle or 6 pack on the way here. The decor didn't bother me (again, had that family feel) BUT they have been here 5 years now. In 5 years I think I could have brightened up the place a bit with some decorations. I suspect in the summer when the patio is open it's a little different looking. In any case, if business is good, and I suspect it is, it's clear they aren't putting any money into paint, doors or decorations. LOL read more

Came here in the beginning of October to have a little taste of Thai food in Wyoming. Their pad Thai was delicious to me!! Very small Thai restaurant and very authentic. The Thai iced tea was just the right amount of sweet (some restaurants tend to overdo it with the sweetness). Ordered a soup (forgot what it was called), I was a little disappointed that the veggies weren't cooked with the broth, instead seemed like they just chopped it up and threw it in there after heating up the broth. Not sure about uncooked veggies in soup... the spring rolls were a little different from what I am used to but still good!! My boyfriend ordered duck noodle soup (not pictured), and let's just say they may not specialize in noodle soups... so stay away from those! read more

It's not Thai food. There are no characteristic Thai flavors such as the wonderful contrast of savory fish sauce on bright chili and lime. Everything is flat and the portions are exorbitant. Our pad see ew was missing the characteristic flat rice noodles and they made it with dry pho noodles, forgiveable as such noodles are likely not obtainable in Wyoming, but still... The noodles were absolutely horrible. No black bean gravy, no flavor... Just flat and sweet. Not Thai food. A neighboring table speaking Vietnamese asked if they were Thai and the workers said yes, however they are not speaking Thai. Cambodian maybe. This was one of the few Thai places open for lunch nearby and we are glad we found it! The lunch menu is very affordable, only $10 for an entree and egg roll. We got the fried wontons($9), Thai tea($3), chicken pad Thai ($10) and cashew chicken ($10). The wontons didn't have enough filling but everything else was good. Pad Thai was saucy and delicious! They we're friendly and I appreciated the vegetarian/vegan options on the menu (pretty usual for thai), but we found our pad Thai (both tofu and beef) to be very bland and lacking authentic flavors. Jackson is notoriously expensive, but at $19 per dish for sub-par noodles, I think you can find better options. Perhaps their other dishes are more flavorful. read more
