I've been coming here for the past couple of months for lunch and love this place. The lunch buffet is great for a quick bite, very casual, and gives you the best bang for your buck. Good selection, great staff and service, and the food definitely taste home made! Good options of food varying from mild to spicy. They even give you a box toward the end of their lunch time (2:00 pm) to take with you before they start closing. This is my second time eating here. First time i had the buffet and it was well priced for a generous selection of thai food. I came around 7:30pm and there was no one there at all. We sat down and they immediately came to our service. We had chicken larb for starters and it was on point, only complaint was they could have given more cabbage leaves. Then came the tom yum soup. Steaming got and the shrimp didn't taste like it had been sitting in the broth all day. For our main course we ordered pad thai (med spicy) and fish curry (highest spicy). The pad thai didn't wow me but was delicious with a good portion of veggies mixed in. The curry fish was freaking on point. Fish was crispy and sitting in the coconut goodness of the curry juice. As we were eating about 4 guest came in during the duration. Great meal for three people. Will definitely be back for that curry fish. read more

As someone who has lived in Thailand for an extended period of time this is the closest thing to authentic Thai food I have had in Baton Rouge. The restaurant itself might seem somewhat lackluster but do not let that determine your experience let the food talk for itself. I have only had their lunch buffet but it is great and has many options. They also restock the buffet constantly so need to worry about your favorites running out. I have eaten almost everything on the buffet and recommend it all. They also have dishes that range in spiciness so everyone can enjoy the food. You should 100% get a thai tea to enjoy the delicious meal. read more

After all the rave reviews and all the compliments I was hopeful that this place might just satisfy my craving for Thai. Didn't. I ordered Thai curry red with pork. It comes with rice. * bowl of rice small and though it was written extra costs more they didn't charge us. That's good. But the bad thing was the rice wasn't cooked. * the Thai red curry - thought I might as well try the signature dish. If a Thai restaurant is good, then the best of their preparations come out either in the pad thai or curry. Since wasn't feeling noodely went for the curry. What they mean by curry is under cooked pork pieces along with raw beans and bell pepper. That's totally not how the Thai curry is made. *What I ate was disappointing. A meal not satisfactory. Maybe lunch buffet which is the popular thing here might be the better of the options. But I don't think the quality would vary very much from what I had. read more

I am not really an expert on Thai food, so I am not sure whether I had truly quality Thai, but I do know that I enjoyed myself. I had a training over near BRCC, so a friend of mine and I decided to grab something outside of our usual (whatever we can grab before heading back to work), and our handy Yelp Mobile app told me that they were just right around the corner, so we left the training site and headed over. The first thing you notice when pulling up is that it used to be some other kind of restaurant, as it has a defunct drive-thru. It looks a little shabby on the outside, so I was knew I was in for a treat or disappointment. When we entered, we saw that they had a the buffet set up off to one side, and it did not have a lot of variety, but it is a small establishment, so I wasn't too upset by that. I enjoyed the soup and the Pad Thai, but there were a few things that I had never tried before. They had a cinnamon pork, which was pretty awesome. I had never really thought to pair cinnamon with pork ribs, but it was a surprisingly awesome duo. The most unique thing on the menu though was the black rice with coconut milk. When I first saw it, I thought it was a rice pudding with some kind of berry sauce. It was actually a rice that had been prepared to be lightly sweetened that was naturally black and then they topped it with some coconut milk. Honestly, I loved it. I was a novel dessert that hinted at sweetness, rather than clubbing you with it. Overall, go and enjoy a lunch with something a bit exotic for Baton Rouge. read more

This place is nice inside and super clean also This place was super crowded but they kept the buffet stocked. The food was fresh and tasted good. They're were 3 of us that went for lunch and we all found dishes that we enjoyed. They were so many choices, we all loved the coconut chicken soup, the fried eggplant and the noodle dishes. The fried spring rolls were delicious and they liked the fresh vegetable rolls also. They also had a small salad and fruit area which we also enjoyed. They had three different deserts but unfortunately we didn't like them but I'm sure they were delicious they just had a texture we weren't use to. Haven't been here in years way before yelp. But it is exactly as I remembered sweet and spicy goodness. I really like when things are labeled as spicy and they follow through. The spicy shrimp was tangy full of flavor with a little burn. Spring rolls on point. Three flavor fish crispy with a little spice and sweetness and tang. I enjoyed this place last time I came (though I had the same issue my previous visit, I was able to come back and have them remake my order), which is why I didn't want to give it fewer than two stars. However, I'm super bummed about my order. I'm allergic to peanuts, and I repeated 3 times, "No peanuts, please." I even reiterated my request when I got there: "No peanuts?" She nodded in affirmation. However, as you can see from my picture, there are peanuts all over the place. I feel cheated out of 12 dollars. I certainly shouldn't have tipped. This is a Thai gem in Baton Rouge. It's one of a very few restaurants in that specific area and by far the best. When they say spicy, they mean spicy. They are able to pack a punch while maintaining a beautiful flavor. The alcohol options are limited, but you can find at least one thing you like. We had the cucumber salad, the pad see ew, and the chicken pad Thai. I can't wait to go back for the lunch buffet which I hear is the best in town! Will be back very soon! read more

This place is sooo good! The food is authentic Thai and there is plenty to choose from! We came here on vacation from Chicago and we cannot find Thai food this good in the city. The food is the perfect amount of spicy and smokey (without being burnt of course lol), with noodles, soups, vegetables, rice dishes. There are also a lot of vegetarian choices. The actual restaurant is very cozy and the staff was very friendly and quick to respond to questions about the food and things to do in the area. Definitely coming here in the future! read more

A coworker and I came here for lunch by accident looking for another Thai place. Glad we decided to stay and have lunch here instead. We didn't know it was a buffet before entering, so when we came in we were kind of confused. The hostess was busy and didn't greet us for a few mins. Looks like everyone else knew what the deal was though. There were several options to choose from on the buffet line. I had the garlic chicken and the peanut curry chicken and Pad Thai with peanut sauce. I'm happy to report that I had seconds lol. The food was very good. The desserts - not so much. They offered fresh fruit, tapioca, and a black rice pudding that quite literally had no taste. Very odd tasting. The buffet came out to 9 bucks a person. Good for the soul on a hot night in Louisiana or to keep a winter night in check. Be sure to get the Thai iced tea or Thai iced coffee to cool your palate down. The best way to get the full experience is the lunch buffet which has tons of options at a great price. What can I say? Don't let this small building fool you. The buffet here is good although the buffet bar only offers a limited amount of dishes (around 10-12). The catfish really stood out to me. Let's be real here, Baton Rouge isn't overflowing with choices when it comes to Thai food. So looking at the limited options, Thai Pepper is where I'll go when give a choice all things considered. Rama? If you have 2+ hours and don't mind fun-house ambiance, I guess. I don't think the food is so great that it's worth the wait. Thai Chli has a watered down menu with random chinese and japanese dishes to hopefully appeal to a lot of people. Sadly, you can't get this much range and get everything right. Thai Kitchen has always been very middle of the road. Never awful but never memorable. And serving sushi at a thai place is just strange. Enter Thai Pepper. The menu reflects a fairly traditional Thai menu without being overly ambitious with its options. No half baked sushi available. Their pad woon sen is great, and they accurately use glass noodles. Very veg friendly- you can make basically any entree vegetarian with either just vegetables or tofu available. The portions are very fair, especially since the price is reasonable. I won't lie-the setting is pretty shady. It's in a not great part of town and the interior is pretty generic. Even though its family owned, the service is fast and courteous though. I had been here many years back but I didn't remember my experience. Needless to say I'm glad I came back. The pad Thai, curry chicken and Tom Kha soup were very good.
