Thai Basil Double Lo mein dinner side
    Donna V.

The food was amazing. I had Double chicken beef Thai basil, Cucumber salad and the Chicken coconut soup. My Mom loved her meal as well. She had Singapore noodles. The portions are big so you aren't getting ripped off. Prices are good too. The cucumbers have so much on the plate you can share easily as an appetizer or that and a soup can easily fill you up. The place looks clean and the staff were super kind. The atmosphere is quiet for those who that matters. A slight Asian music in background. Not loud at all. Bathrooms looked taken care of. Part 2. My husband and I went another night and the big bowl of soup is added. He got the sesame chicken. He said it was tender inside but a big crunchy on the outside. He love the Satay chicken.

This restaurant is takeout only. There are tables and chairs stacked up along the walls, so perhaps this was a change that came about from covid. A few weeks ago I had a random craving for Pad Thai. I found Thai Chili and suggested it for lunch one day at work. The food was excellent. I have craved it ever since and actually ordered it both yesterday and today and I could still eat a bucket of their Pad Thai. The crab wontons and egg rolls are also pretty good. Yesterday I was half an hour late to pick up our orders, but they keep the boxes covered waiting for pick up, so the food was still hot by the time I got it back to work! Highly recommend. It shares a parking lot with City Cafe. Easy to find and lots of parking even at lunch hour.

All the red pepper you see, is my desperation at giving it flavor.

Updating. Third try. Way too expensive considering the throw so much cheap veg in with water and practically no meat. Last time giving them a chance. Third strike. Won ton soup HAHAHA That's obviously my bad. It was on the menu, what can I say?? Tom Yum- a joke. Just call it water with broccoli and cabbage. I have no idea what the pink shit was so I'm just gonna say NO! No to this whole place. Food is gross and I rarely say that. I apologize for being mean. $70 mean

I've been here so many times I've lost count. My wife and I ate here Friday night when we heard the wait at Parrains was over an hour and we were far from getting there in time to go to dinner and get to our show in time. As we headed out of Shenandoah neighborhood my wife said let's go to Thai Chili, I could hardly object we've been here so many times and have been pleased with everything we get. Even our son who we told the next day that we went here got mad at us because he loves the Thai Chicken Wings there. It's the only place that has killer chicken wings a la Thai style. My wife and are both from LA and we found this place not long after moving into the neighborhood in early 2016. The only other Thai place in town worth it's merit is Dang's on Florida, as much as I love Dang's I feel safer going to Thai Chili with my family at night. Thai Chili is situated in a little plaza strip center tucked into a corner on the edge of several large neighborhoods. There's a City Cafe next door and what used to be a Rite-Aid on the corner. Parking is plentiful if you stay away from the corner. Walking into this place you're greeted with a smile from the staff. The zen like ambience greets you with a high ceiling, stone front bar and tall wooden booths for 2, 4 or 6 people. There's always some melodic asian traditional music playing overhead and they have a TV playing some sports at the bar and in the dining room, but it's quiet, just for people who need to know the score. The entrance to the hallway leading to the bathrooms has beads draped over it, nice touch. We always start off with hot oolong tea, they bring out a fresh pot of hot tea already steeped and ready to pour with two small cups. The menu is dotted with hot pepper icons to notify you which dishes are served spicy, when you order, they will ask you how spicy you want it. My wife and I always say a little more than medium. We've been to places where we say spicy and it's not hot enough for us. Thai Chili is an exception, if you want it full on hot, they will deliver, so after having done that once, I know to dial it back a bit here. The menu has an even divide of Beef, Poultry, Seafood and Vegetarian Dishes. My wife gravitates towards Vegetarian Dishes, with so many Vegetarian options in LA and so few here, she gets what she can to remind her of home. I used to frequent a place in LA called Toi on Sunset (Blvd) that was open till 4am where I would order Pad Se Lew which are wide noodles with broccoli and chicken. Thai Chili has the same dish I used to get at Toi. I often get this with medium extra spicy along with a Thai Thom Yum Soup as an appetizer which has fresh cut mushroom ina spicy broth with 3 huge steamed shrimp in it. My wife always gets a seaweed salad, albeit that's more synonymous with Japanese than Thai. Another place we used to frequent in LA was a place that had a Thai Elvis impersonator who would sing Elvis songs while you feasted on Panang Chicken Curry or Pad Thai. Thai Chili's version of these are nothing to scoff at, and each time we go we think of Thai Elvis as we consume the Yellow Panang Curry and Pad Thai. Another favorite is the Buddha's Feast which is an all vegetarian dish with Tofu in place of meat with brown sauce on it. Another dish we like to get are Thai Basil Chicken. We've gotten Waitr from here and it's always been good, but nothing beats sitting in the place where you order your food and experiencing it first hand. Going here you won't be disappointed. The most trouble you might have is trying to find it again if you're not familiar with this side of town. Note to Yelp Moderators: I know I have written a review of this establishment before, I've checked in here before too. Strange?

I had high hopes after seeing the overall rating but... this is not Pad See Ew (pad see lew on their menu but has the same description as pad see ew). Has no flavor other that spice, the chicken is rubbery, It's just not good. At all. The spring rolls are ok. Nothing special - mainly noodles with 2 shrimp per roll. Im not from here so I'm not sure what the other Thai restaurants around here are like, but this is not it. Had to come back to edit because as I'm eating my spring roll I find two hairs.

The restaurant is very clean with good music playing, and the staff is always very kind. They have a wide selection of foods, but I always opt for the Vermicelli combo bowl. My dad and sister always gets the Banh Mi sandwich, which they love and crave often. We usually opt for an egg roll to start also, which is delicious. The portions are large and very filling, I most of the time have leftovers! On top of that, the prices are very fair and I always feel like I get my moneys worth. If you are looking to try Vietnamese or love it already, for sure try out Bao - it's the best!!!

I hate passing up a deal, so I ordered the egg rolls off of the happy hour menu too. They come three to an order, but my picture only shows two. I was hungry. Make a trip out to Bao. You will thank me. Ask for Kaylee. She is the bomb!

I ordered their black pepper chicken and spicy Cajun chicken with their lo mein noodles. I loved the lo mein noodles. They were perfectly cooked and I loved the garlic I tasted all throughout them.
