Parking is limited and there aren't many seats inside. The tables weren't very clean. We literally ate at their patio baking in the sun cause there was no room inside, so the whole time we got to listen to rush hour traffic. We ordered the steamed dumplings and they came with a strange aïoli sauce on top that I really didn't like, it completely ruined the dish for me. Who wants mayonnaise sauce on their steamed dumplings. I like when people try new things and push the bounds of imagination, but this dish should have never left the kitchen. We also tried some basic spicy beef dishes, which were fine, but overall, it was a a sucky experience and I don't think I'll be coming back.

We found this place while exploring Google Maps and were drawn to the Thai food. As soon as we sat down, I had a strong feeling that I was in for an authentic meal when I noticed the restaurant playing Thai pop music. Monday was a great day to visit, as they offered a weekday lunch special: $14 for a spring roll, a soup, and an entrée. We both decided to go for the special after discovering that the soup of the day was Tom Yum! One of us chose tofu, and the other chose chicken. The vegetarian spring roll was crispy and paired really well with the semi-sweet sauce. The sourness of the Tom Yum soup was the perfect appetizer to kickstart our appetite. I want to mention the surprising amount of food packed into this seemingly small cup of soup: a big chunk of tomato, onions, mushroom chunks, and 4 pieces of tofu! I wasn't expecting such a hearty portion and was pleasantly surprised. The amount of soup in the cup was also more than enough. As we were finishing our appetizers, our entrées arrived. We ordered Chicken Pad See Ew with 2 chili (spicy) and Chicken Massaman Curry with 3 chili (medium spicy). The Chicken Pad See Ew was heavily flavored--maybe a little salty--but it smelled wonderful and absolutely delicious. The thick noodles were packed with flavor, making for a satisfying combination with the protein and vegetables. The curry sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste, but once again, the bowl was filled with food. The portion of chicken was generous, the potatoes were cut into large pieces and cooked just right, and I especially enjoyed the crunchy peanuts that added extra texture. The server was friendly and attentive, checking on us several times throughout the meal. I also appreciated the slice of lemon in the ice water. When I inquired about vegetarian options, I was told they offer vegetable stock-based sauces that can make the dishes vegetarian! We cleaned all our plates and bowls except for the curry. I'd definitely want to visit again and maybe try other à la carte dishes, appetizers, or desserts next time!

When my go-to spot for takeout was closed and we were looking for something nearby, we ended up picking up food from here instead. It was a rainy night, and I appreciated that there was dedicated to-go parking in the back, making it convenient to get in and out. I can't speak much about dining inside, but it looks quite intimate with a few tables, and I believe they also have an outdoor patio. In terms of food, we ordered a bit of everything and still had some leftovers for the next day. The green curry was very flavorful and I liked the addition of eggplants and bamboo shoots. The crab fried rice had flakes of crab you could see and the flavor was also good, if not a bit strong. This dish also comes with a side of spicy vinegar/fish sauce if you are looking for even more flavor. The Khao Soi Gai was another curry based dish and would strongly recommend mixing it all together if you get it to go. The Pad Kee Mao was also tasty with a good amount of noodles. We enjoyed most everything we had, but would caution ordering the choo chee salmon which didn't taste the freshest. The salmon also lacked flavor as it seemed the curry was just poured over it. All the proteins we ordered were also a bit overcooked but this could have been because it was sitting for over half an hour until it was consumed. However, overall the flavors of all the dishes were good and will come back since it's so close.

When I want Thai curry, I expect Thai eggplant...not the Italian ones; that's a totally different flavor and pissed me off. And cucumbers? Instead of the squash. I know different places use different ingredients but this was a big disappointment; but the heat level and curry flavor was good and so were the egg rolls; but yea... won't be getting my curry fix from them anymore.

Updating my review because I've been back to Thai Lada several times. I think I've been dining in or ordering take out from here at least every few weeks. It has become my new frequent Thai spot in this area. In addition to the dishes from my previous review, I've now also tried their fried rice, pad kee mao, tom yum, boat noodles, mango sticky rice, and more. The food is consistently delicious,and the flavors are well balanced. The prices are so reasonable.

Review is for pickup via GrubHub with a 15 minute travel time. We ordered the Pad See-Ew and the Boat Noodles (Spicy 3). Pad See-Ew: 2/5. The portions were okay but there wasn't enough meat. Some kind of flavor in the noodles was overwhelming - I think it was either oily or buttery. I would recommend some spice to offset this flavor. We ordered with zero spice and I couldn't take more than a few bites. Drunken Boat Noodles (4/5). Not enough noodle at all for the dish and way too much basil in the package (I'd suggest adding maybe half the basil). The soup had overwhelmingly salty flavor with hints of spice and more complex flavors. The pork rinds went pretty well with it, actually. The spice was packaged separately and I couldn't tell if the soup was already spicy or if I had to add it all in to reach the desired spice level. Overall, it's an okay Thai establishment that is quite pricey for the portions. I hope to try the boat Noodles in person next time.

Ordered take out from here and it was a good amount of food. I ordered tofu pad Thai, crab fried rice, chicken wings, and dumplings. The pad Thai was really flavorful and filled with tofu pieces. The crab fried rice had so much crab in it, this was probably my favorite dish. I had the Thai flavored wings and love the tamarind powder dusted on the wings. I would say the dumplings were my least favorite, solely because of the amount of sauce on the dumplings,

Met friends who lived a year in Thailand, and it was first time for all of us to eat here. Friendly and efficient service although it appeared one server had all 10-12 tables to manage. We ordered 4 dishes -- 2 off noodles section and 2 off rice section. Also the brussel sprout appetizer. Generous servings meant we took home lunch for the next day. All of it was good and our friends said as authentic as you will find around here. We asked for medium spicy and I would have liked a bit more heat. Overall, a pleasant experience sitting on their patio and catching up. read more

Returning for my second visit. The service is at times not up to what I would like but if you get past that the food is great. My first visit was Panang. It was tasty and good. All of my families dishes came out hot and flavorful. The owner is Thai, and the cooks are Thai. For anyone who tried before and didn't like, please try again. This is a place you will want to succeed, not many places in North Austin to get some real authenticate Thai food. Good Food Quality Adquete Variety but not overwhelming Unique Thai dishes you can not get anywhere else (American Fried Rice made my wife feel like a kid again). Bad Service is still WIP, they are looking for more waitstaff Decor is being updated so it too is a bit WIP but nothing distracting read more

First time eating at Thai Lada. There were three of us. At first we were seated near a table with a very exuberant child ;) After a couple of minutes, our astute waitress asked if we would like another table, which we appreciatively accepted. Then we proceeded to order a lot of food -- I always enjoy having leftovers! The chicken satay, crab rangoon and steamed dumplings were all very tasty. We also ordered some Tom Yum Goong (soup). It was fresh and the shrimp perfectly cooked. For entree's we had: Crab Fried Rice, which was perfect - lots of crab, tasty and rice was perfect. We also ordered Khao Mun Gai - the chicken thighs were tender, the rice and ginger sauce great. Plus, the Pad See Ew was tasty and nicely seasoned. Oh yeah! And we ordered Beef Larb. It was very good as well! Great friendly service too. Not much on ambiance inside, but the outdoor patio looks great for nicer weather. Highly recommend! We will be back or ordering takeout for sure! No too bad, but still have not found " the Thai place" in Austin. We started with the chicken satay, very good - I wish it had more sauce to dip. The cucumber salad was nice that came with it. I had the Kee Mao with beef, good - but ordered the hottest spice level and it was very mild. Not true Thai spice for sure. I once did this at a place in Houston and my mouth was on fire. All in all good, but will keep my search going for authentic Thai. read more

This place has awesome food. Masaman Curry, Thai Fried Rice, and Pad Thai are my favorites. Taste just as good the next day leftover, too. The Thai Tea is also fabulous and in a large mug (when I make it at home I use less sweetener, but it is your typical Thai sweet). Their patio is nice. Casual dining and a little cramped, but you can always get take-out. The tables are a bit small if you plan to spread three dishes out and share with a large group, however; the food makes it totally worth the lost elbow space. As with most Thai places, serving portions only go so far. I've got four kids, so if you plan to split for a larger family, extra fried rice will be necessary. Four of us devoured the rice in minutes. One thing I would have changed: no cilantro on the pad Thai. read more

Was looking for a good Thai food place since coming from Cali I feel spoiled by the Thai food there . I found this place and decided to give it a try . Wow!! Finally found my new Thai spot in Austin . We got the drunken noodles level 4 spicy it wasn't to over whelming we also ordered my favorite pineapple fried rice pineapple was fresh didn't taste like can fruit. We also ordered egg rolls we ordered to go and food was fresh hot and everything was delicious and I will definitely be back soon. read more

Driven by this place a few times, and love some Thai food, so we tried them out. Place was empty around 530-6pm, ordered some wings, tom kha, and pot stickers. All in all, food was descent, nothing special when it comes to Thai food, the basics and a little bit more, would probably stop in again for an affordable lunch or dinner to go, dining room is a little small. Almost forgot, the pot stickers were fabulous, best thing I ate. read more

The most authentic Thai food in the North Austin burbs. We've been there 3 times in the past 2 months and each time the food was outstanding. The prices are modest and the servings are well above average. $40 will feed a family of 4. We usually spend about in the $50's just to have leftovers to take home. I do see a brisk take out business, so some of you know what I'm talking about. The rest of y'all, just give in one try. This place is a hidden gem. read more

It's a quiet place, I like the view as the sky turns a shade of orange close to sunset. As people drive by on the streets, I don't really hear the cars outside, and the places feels not too big, and not too small. So it's a pretty good place if you just want to relax with a book. Extra: the dish with green beans in créame taste sooo damn good. read more

The Good: Shrimp spring rolls were pretty good here. I've never had a spring roll with pineapple before. I'm not a huge pineapple fan but this combination worked! The Okay: We had the Pad Thai and Yellow Curry (what we usually order at Thai restaurants). Both were okay, maybe a little better than okay. The Pad Thai was average but cooked well and the Yellow Curry was a little better than average. It was full with flavor but was lacking on beef. Think I got a total of 4 slices, maybe 5. Overall it was a great experience, loved the home-type feel this restaurant gave out. If I'm ever north again and craving Thai I would definitely go back! read more

Ordered the drunken noodles with beef level 4 spiciness and it was delicious. Next time I'll order it with chicken. It was pretty spicy but not too much were I couldn't enjoy the flavors. Also ordered the veggie egg rolls and they were also yummy. My kids ordered the crunchy chicken and they didn't eat it. My sister ordered the wonton soup and that was another disappointment. But the noodles and egg tool were fantastic. Will be coming back. read more

Probably one of my favorite Thai places in Austin! The papaya salad is absolutely delicious and flavorful! I also got The drunken noodles and they were great. It's located in a small little shopping center and there's plenty of parking. They have a nice outdoor seating as well which would be perfect for the spring! read more

The food is good but service has been lacking lately. I stopped by this place about a week ago for their mango rice and one of the guys said they were out of it and they only sell it when it is in season. I was thinking okay well I had it a couple of months ago so I guess the season has passed. Well this eve I order food to pickup and I see they have the mango rice on their menu so I order it and sort of expected them to call and tell me that they were out of that... turns out they did have it so I guess we are back in season since a week ago. Yeah right.... They also screwed up my order and did not put all the food I ordered in the bag they gave me when I picked up my order. I think it is safe to say that I will probably not order anything else from here for a while. Very disappointed. read more

This is my second dining experience here and the service is just amazing ! The food is delicious to , I am a new vegan and it's one of the few places near my work thay accommodates my diet. I will have to say the customer service is out of this world, very kind staff. I forgot my wallet and realized I only had enough money for my soup. When the cook was given instructions by the waitress to stop my fried tofu the cook told me to please still eat and I can always come back another time if I likke to pay it back! I find it distasteful (no pun intended) that people leave a 3 star review for this place. The reviews state that they had a good experience and the food is good yet they leave a 3 star or worse review. That means that you had a 60 percent out of 100 experience which is not passing. Learn the scale and what reviews do to locations. I loved the food here and I will definitely be ordering again! read more

I was really hoping for a better experience, since this place is so close to work, but sadly, it looks like I'll have to find another place. I started off with the Chicken Satay, which was pretty good, if not a tad greasy. The peanut sauce was good, but better in moderation, or it'll overpower the chicken easily. I had the Pad Thai as my main dish, and opted for tofu since I already had some chicken. Beef was $1 extra :(. The dish looked pretty, just like the satay, but didn't taste as good. It was rather bland. Maybe it was because I got tofu and I'm used to the meat flavoring the rest of the dish. Or not. Service was okay, but a bit slow. I needed a whole hour for lunch, despite the drive being just 7 minutes and myself being a rather fast eater. The restaurant does look nice and clean though. Not impressed with this place, but it'll do in a pinch I suppose. read more

Decent Thai restaurant seems to be run by Korean management. Ice tea was good, Iced coffee was not that good. Definitely recommend spring rolls (not deep fried). We ordered drunken noodle, padthai, stir fried veggies and glass noodle dish. Everything tasted good and service was excellent. We will definitely visit again shortly! read more

Thai food is sooo addicting! It's probably because their food is sweet, savory, and spicy. Today I tried the pad Thai with tofu. It was to die for. I also had the chicken satay for appetizer. That was also very delicious. The satay came with a side of peanut dipping sauce sand I was also given a side of cucumber salad for my tiny but mighty egg roll. Everything paired together was so well balanced. I paid less than $15 for lunch. Thanks Thai Lada. I Lavda your food a lot. read more

We had our dinner delivered tonight by Favor. We ordered the chicken wings, beef fried rice (because they ran out of shrimp) and beef Pad Thai. The beef was dry in both dishes and all of the food was bland. I can't imagine that actually going there would change any of that. read more

The flavor of the food was great, but the noodles were mushy. I've had drunken noodles at several different restaurants and I've never had the mushy noodles before. They just fell apart they were so mushy! This is something that you should work on for sure. I've seen others complaining about the same thing. read more

Food-Delicious Service-Quick and Friendly Place- Smaller joint in a little plaza, has outdoor seating as well Parking: Plenty Plates I have tried and recommend: Pad Kee Mau, Pad Thai, Crab Rangoon, Spring Roll/Garden Roll, Shrimp Wrap, Chicken Satay, Fried Pork Dumplings, Tom Yum The only thing I do not recommend is the wonton soup. We went on a Friday evening and there were only 3 other tables. The service was fast and friendly. My daughter had the chicken fried rice which was good! I had papaya salad (delicious) and yellow curry also good. The rice was really over cooked which was disappointing because I can't stand over cooked rice or pasta. My husband had the pad Thai which I didn't like but he said it was good. Overall a good experience and we enjoyed our meal. read more

Had their lunch special. It comes with a fried spring roll, a cup of soup (today's was tom yum) with a choice of tofu or chicken (I had the tofu), and an entree. I had the tofu pad thai. Established in 2017.

Thai Lada has just recently changed the owner (since May 1st, 2017). The new owner/head chef along with his team has more than 20 years of experience in cooking Thai food and desserts. This is their true passion. We have changed up everything; introducing a whole new menu, new recipes and new taste. And we won't stop there, we will constantly come out with new mouth-watering recipes. We take pride in our authentic Thai food. And our goal is to make sure that every dishes we served are flavorful, consistent and are prepared using only fresh and high quality ingredients. I just went back to Thai Lada for a second trip and I really just cannot speak highly enough about the place! I am serious when I say that I have officially found my favorite Thai restaurant in Austin.
