Certainly not an expert on 'good Thai' but have always been very pleased with taste and value here. Their lunch specials could not be better! I am Vegan so I can't comment on entire menu but they have always been helpful and accommodating and food has always been very fresh with none of the 'off' flavors I have found in some Asian places (old brown rice as an example). This is without doubt is the worst Thai restaurant I have ever been to. The food has a dishwater taste, truly horrendous. Anybody who claims this place is good (or even edible) is either a nontaster or has no idea what Thai food is supposed to taste like. And the prices, after the lunch period, are too high. As the other reviewers have mentioned, the hostess/waitress is dressed like a mom dropping her kids off at school. Normally I wouldn't care about this sort of thing, but combined with the bad food makes this place a zero in my book. If somebody suggests this place to you, they either hate you, are planning to break up with you and don't want to ruin their associations with a good restaurant, or are anosmic. Called to ask about gluten free options ahead of placing delivery order through Yelp. First person said that they can do gluten free, but they don't deliver more than 9 miles, even though I was only 6 miles. Asked if I wanted to order pickup. I tried to explain that Yelp will deliver for them, I would place the order online, and just wanted to know how to make sure the order would be gluten free. She had never heard of Yelp. So she passed me to another person, who insisted they don't deliver, had heard of Yelp, but said that they don't have anything gluten free, presumably because she didn't want me to order. You know, it's kind of a shame, because the Thai food from this place is so amazing, but the service is terrible. Especially when you order take out. The girls who work on the weekends who literally do nothing but sit at the front counter on their cell phones and treat customers like garbage and act like they don't care about anything are the worst part of this restaurant. I literally placed an order on the phone with them, showed up 20 minutes later to pick it up after they told me 15 minutes, and when I asked if it was ready yet they literally just looked at me and said "no." I have been going to this restaurant for about six years, and it's one of my favorites. While I don't claim to be any kind of authority on authentic Thai food, I am a big Thai fan and am always looking for new restaurants, but I keep coming back to Green Leaf! Their new location has really helped the restaurant take a step up. It's smaller, but the locale means they get more of a lunch crowd than before. It also has a more professional-looking interior than the old location. I always come here for the lunch special, which runs $7-10 and includes a spring roll, soup, or soda. The portions are nicely sized and I often get enough food to take home leftovers. Personal favorite dishes of mine are the pineapple fried rice, ginger chicken, chicken with string beans, Pad Gai (chicken or beef with noodles and broccoli), and Lar Nard (chicken or beef with Chinese broccoli and flat noodles in an oyster sauce). I am not a fan of very spicy foods, so I'm not sure what's best for spice lovers. But for those who enjoy the sweeter end of Thai cuisine, there are many sure hits for you here! read more

My husband and I come here all the time. Not sure why some reviewers are complaining. We enjoy our favorite meals which are the pad Thai and the shrimp Wooson. The lunch special is the time to come to this restaurant It's a great bargain which includes soup. The seafood soup is yummy. Tonight was the first time my boyfriend and i haven't eaten at this restaurant. The restaurant is clean and intimate, even the restroom was spotless. The food was amazing!!!! We ordered the cucumber salad, steam chicken dumplings, pineapple fried rice, Bangkok spicy chicken and the mango chicken. Omg!! Everything was freshly made and the portions were just the right size. After eating I read the other reviews. I can't believe it was the same place. I had calamari with spicy basil sauce. I asked for it hot, hot, hot. You can't scare me hot. I got a heaping portion of excellent food. The Calamari was fresh and tender. The spice made my head sweat and nose run.... It was great! My wife had a chicken dish in Yellow curry. She asked for it mild and got exactly what she ordered. Of course I tasted it. It was very tasty and a large serving. We took half of each dish home. For an app we had the spring rolls. They were a little greasy but good. The dipping sauces were good. The rice was typical. The restaurant was casual and clean. The bathrooms were clean. I will go back. read more

We ordered the tofu drunken noodles and ma khue puang for take-out via Grubhub. When we arrived the food was ready in the 20-30 minute window, as had been specified. However, we were told that we had to pay in person when we had already paid through the app. Despite showing them our receipt they insisted that they had not received the payment and we had to pay in person. After much back and forth we paid, and decided to dispute the charges with Grubhub. Despite this incident, the food was delicious and very well seasoned, and the employees were polite and cordial even during the disagreement. I've only ever ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, but I have been going here for over 4 years and it is among the best I've tasted. Only slightly spicy (though you can ask for it at whatever spice level is most comfortable for you) and it comes with a lime wedge, all served on top of a big leaf. My friends love the food here as well. They keep hot sauce on every table, which is great. When it comes to the decor and overall atmosphere of the restaurant, it's nothing to brag about. Bright lighting, bright orange walls, carpeted floors, old holiday decorations are up year round, the employees' young kids will often be around (though they aren't loud or annoying in my experience). Clean environment. Quiet unobtrusive instrumental music usually plays in the background. The staff is friendly; smiling, and asking how my friends are when I come alone. They refill my water before I have to ask. Pleasant staff, clean, inoffensive environment, and tasty food. At the end of the day, that is what's most important. This place is so good and I love that they deliver quickly! If you eat there, the service is great and the staff is so nice. The food is always super fresh. My boyfriend who lived with a Thai family for a year loves this place and tries something new every time we go. My favorites are the pineapple shrimp curry and the coconut shrimp noodles, and their Tom Yum soup is so good! Basically this is Chinese people that try to make thai food. I noticed right away by the way they cut the vegetables and meat. The coconut soup was good but one dish I ordered was drenched in oyster sauce so I had to send it back. Thai people really don't cook with oyster sauce like that. That is more of a Chinese thing. When I called back they put someone else on the phone and he kept saying he only speaks Chinese. Why would someone who only speaks Chinese answer the phone? I'm a big fan of Thai cuisine. When I stumbled upon this place I had high hopes. My wife and I knew we were in trouble upon entering the place and being ignored by two staff members. After getting their attention, I asked if they had khao phat which is Thai for fried rice. The larger woman yelled "I'm not Thai!" While the other staff member just thought that was hilarious! Stupid Caucasians, can't tell the difference. I told them I knew she wasn't Thai but if this is a "Thai" restaurant, shouldn't it have that on the menu? I ordered the chicken fried rice and the staff member asked if I wanted pineapple in it. I declined. My wife ordered pad Thai and she was also asked if she wanted pineapple. I've been eating from thai green leaf for years, back when they were located near the sunrise mall. I'm no thai expert but I know when something taste good. My wife and I love real Thai cooking. When it comes to Thai dining, my wife and I dine mostly in Manhattan . We love the Thai restaurants around third ave. and the area of 27th Street to about 30th street. We have been trying to find a Thai restaurant between the city and West Babylon for years. Nothing would even come close to city Thai food. Sometimes people do not have a clue what good Thai food is. It is like a junkie just chasing the dragon. Once you taste the best, you just want more. Well the GREEN LEAF blew us away, right here in Copiague. I compared my favorite Thai dish , beef with nice hot basil sauce ( not overwhelming . Just enough so can taste the dish.) and Tom Yum Koong soup . All I could say' THE DISHES WERE OUTSTANDING'. The spice was there. The beef was perfect. The sauce was overwhelming. I eat here on a fairly regular basis. The prices are really good and the food is great. It's not a fancy atmosphere so I wouldn't bring a first date here but if you just feel like going out for some good Thai food, this is the place to do it. They have really good lunch specials but beware - they are only Monday through Saturday. The wait staff is always friendly, courteous and concerned if you don't eat most of your meal (sometimes I'm just not that hungry).
