Totally agree with some of the reviewers. This place was alright, it doesn't have that wow factor or anything that tasted special. Lets start on Tofu Pad Thai that is mild spicy. Personally, the mild spicy was not even spicy to me and the noodles was a tiny bit soggy for my taste. We also ordered Tom Yum noodle soup mild spicy as well. The soup was good, but I fine it weird when they use pho noodles. Lets just say, I've had better at other places. This place is a gem. We ordered the crispy pad thai, panang curry and splurged on thai donuts. We dined in though it seemed there was a steady flow of people that were ordering take out. This restaurant has lovely decor, actually I really enjoyed it. Back to the food, I had a mother who obsessed perfecting panang curry dish, usually a dish I avoid ordering because nothing is quiet like Moms cooking. My boyfriend ordered it tonight and though I really loved my crispy pad thai I kept sneaking bites of his curry. I'd say this is a great place for take out, casual dinner, and group dining. Really good Thai food in Las Colinas! I ordered a tofu pad Thai which included a small side salad and I got a Thai tea- all for takeout. The lady was really professional, easy to communicate with on the phone, and had our meal ready in 10 minutes. Compared to Yummy Thai, Yummy Thai is good but Thai E San is better in terms of overall flavor. I am definitely coming back to Thai E San. *Warning: their Thai tea is delicious but has strong caffeine (Black tea) that may keep you up at night! read more

I love their green curry with tofu. I've eaten lunch here several times, once in person and two to go. Each time my order has been correct and I've gotten great service. The restaurant is busy at lunch time but they prepare everything fresh and it's done well and quickly. Whenever you're in a Thai mood, Thai E San is a great place to go. read more

A little hesitant going to this Thai restaurant as it was super empty when we came (about 9), but I guess it was almost closing time. The food tasted more authentic than I thought it would considering this place is in Irving. We ordered the pad thai with tofu and the pad kee mao with chicken. The pad thai had that perfect balance of fish sauce flavor and sweetness. The pad kee mao also tasted authentic. Not sweet or super saucy like some NON-authentic places make it. The chicken was also tender. I think we got both medium spicy and that was the perfect amount of heat with us, so I would say this place does less of an American scale than some of the not so good Americanized thai restaurants. We also ordered the fried tofu appetizer, which was just okay. I don't think we'd order this again. I thought the tofu would be more battered and crispy like chinese fried tofu, but this one isn't breaded. It's pan fried with an almost sweet and sour sauce. Maybe it's authentic, but just not really for me. The inside is a little worn down and not very modern, so I wouldn't say the ambiance is great here. I'd probably opt to get take out for dinner here. Parking is easy since it's a big plaza. Our waitress was nice and friendly as well. Overall, this is a decent place to go for your Thai fix in Irving. read more

Came here with a group of friends. Liked it a lot, but surprisingly Zenna did a better job with some of the dishes. Atmosphere: (5/5) - Inviting, medium noise level, and ample seating. Food: (4/5) - Ordered pad see ew. I've had this is Thailand before, and the one I had at Zenna in Carrollton was closer to authentic than this one. Some of the side dishes we got were som tam and seafood salad. Not spicy enough for most of us at the table but still really tasty. Someone from my party ordered sweet chili fish and it looked really good, similar to what I cook at home, so I might come back to try that. Service: (4/5) - Nothing to complain about, nothing to brag about either. Waitress could have checked on us more often. Cleanliness: (5/5) - Everything was clean. Water was filtered, bathroom was clean. Good hang out spot: Yes, they do Thai karaoke on late nights on the weekend... not sure if you have to be Thai or not to stay for the after party. Otherwise this is a chill place to hang out and eat good food. Good date spot: Yes, this would be a fun date. Worth the price: Lunch prices are very reasonable. About $8 for a meal. This used to be Best Thai. Not sure if they have different owner now. I ordered red curry to go with tofu and a side of rice. The taste was good but the tofu was rotten. It had a weird odor to it and plus there was a baby roach stuck to the bottom of my container. That's gross. I didn't get to eat any tofu and yes I sure did eat most of lunch before I discovered the baby roach. It was disgusting. Their thai tea was good though. I used to eat here when I worked in the area & this place was under a different name & owner I think. Fiancé suggested this place today after seeing some dishes on Yelp that looked very Lao. Our server came to take our order & we ordered the chicken wings & escargot appetizers. I asked for a small tom yum vegetables. As it was a Sunday around lunch time, we wanted to watch football so asked the server if they could turn on the TV & put on Fox4. He went away then came back & said the tv only plays one channel with game shows, so no football. My fiancé had seen pics of a raw shrimp dish on Yelp & asked the server if we could get that but he didn't seem to understand what we were asking. He got the female server to come over & she knew exactly what he was asking for. She clarified it's raw, & we confirmed that's what we wanted & were looking forward to what we know of as dancing shrimp. Fiancé also wanted beef laab, but asked if we could get that raw. She said okay to that too. She did leave & come back asking if he wanted it khom or bitter, which was nice because that let us know the chef knew exactly what we wanted. We also asked for sticky rice to eat too. The tom yum soup came out first - it was surprisingly tangy & really good. I've ordered lots of tom yum & for some reason it's usually sweeter than I like at a lot of Thai places. Their soup was tangy & little spicy, which was perfect. Fiancé really liked the soup too. Escargot came out next - they were very large but came out of the shell easily with our toothpicks & the jeow sauce they served with it was sour & spicy how I like. Tasted fresh & not fishy or gamey. Next the raw shrimp dish came out - it was about 8 large, butterflied shrimp served over a raw cabbage salad, topped with a green pepper jeow & garlic slices. There were slices of raw bitter melon on the plate, but we didn't touch those. The shrimp was super fresh, sauce was spicy but balanced & they went well together. The beef laab came out & fiancé was happy it tasted how he expected. I mentioned it was all meat, unlike other Lao places that have a lot of tripe mixed into it. There was a lot of ground toasted rice coating each little cube of meat & I loved it. A little bitter, but the right amount of bitter. Lots of cilantro which I like. We asked the server about the wings & she didn't know that was something we ordered. I imagine the male server didn't even get that we ordered it. Took a while for the wings but they came out hot & very crispy. I'm glad the sweet & sour sauce was served on the side as I found it too sweet. I actually was dipping the wing meat in the spicy sauce they brought out with the snails. All in all, the food was excellent. We appreciated that they accommodated our off-menu requests. The male server seemed to have a hard time getting what we asked for, as a couple things weren't straight off the menu, but the female server made up for it. Very happy to find another Lao/Thai alternative for when we aren't just feeling like khao piek from Nalinh. Will definitely be back. read more

As I've mentioned in other reviews, my girlfriend is Laotian and she really likes this place. We came in on a Wednesday afternoon and were the only people there. It's a typical little Laotian/Thai restaurant with your standard menu. We ordered chicken satay for an appetizer. Taste was good but the chicken was extremely dry and overcooked, almost like it was fried. Also had a bit of a kick to it which isn't typical. She got pad see ew for her entree which she really enjoyed and I got pineapple fried rice. It was pretty basic, not a ton of flavor. Service was fine and the food was alright. Let's just say there is better Thai food out there than this. The franchise Rangoons were too cheesy and soggy. The tom kha was nice but did not have the authentic flavor. The red curry was half way decent. The pad Thai wasn't really pad Thai. Too much broccoli in every dish. The worst was the Salmon Zuzi!! Do not get this. Hands down the best Thai food in Irving! Always fresh and so flavorful. This is definitely a hidden gem. Don't judge by the exterior. You have to try it to believe it. Stayed at DFW Marriott overnight and found this place on Yelp. Ordered Pad Ka-Paw with seafood and extra spicy. The dish was stirred fries with bell peppers, onion and Thai basil. Although there was bamboo shoot and broccoli as described on the Menu, the dish tasted great. The highest of spiciness fit my taste. I also ordered Grilled Squid as an appetizer. It took 15 min to prepare, so it arrived after I started digging in the Pad Ka-Paw. It also had great flavor and texture. I did not like the sauce that came with the squid. Instead I dipped the squid with the spicy sauce on my entree. It was even better than the cold green sauce.. I will definitely come back and sample more selections. BTW, there is a Karaoke machine in the back of the restaurant. You can enjoy singling along with the prerecord music tune. Forgot to take photos of the dishes before I was half way finished. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. We were the only ones there on a Friday night which was a bad sign. The food was ok, but very bland. I got the Lad Na and the noodles were mushy. The sauce had no flavor but salty. The biggest issue was that our food took forever to come and when it did, it came out separately so that the first person got their food and the last person didn't get their food until 20 minutes later. After moving to the Dallas area and trying at least 20 other Thai restaurants, my husband and I can finally say we found a great one! Thai E San serves authentic Thai street food. My husband and I tried the papaya salad with crab (som tum bua), grilled issan sausage, and drunken noodles. My kids shared the Thai pineapple fried rice. Everything was delicious! I especially enjoyed how the sausage was served with a plate of ginger slices, thai chili peppers, cabbage, and roasted peanuts (traditional Thai condiments for this dish). What I loved most about this restaurant, other than their authentically Thai menu options, is that the chefs did not add 3 pounds of sugar to their dishes unlike most Americanized Thai restaurants. Sugar does not belong in everything and real Thai cooks do not put peanut butter in their dishes (yuck!). I do not understand why Americanized Thai food is so sweet. Food in Thailand is not super sweet. The difference in such baffles me. Service here was outstanding. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who were very nice Thai people. The restaurant itself was welcoming, clean, and charming. We absolutely loved this restaurant and can not wait to go back to try their other dishes, especially their boat noodle soup, shells, and grilled Thai coconut chicken (Gai Yang). Check these guys out today and try something new. If you're unfamiliar with Thai street food, ask the servers for recommendations. You won't regret it. P.s.
