I used to come to this place as a kid when I lived in Irving. This place has definitely changed as they have remodeled so I was suspicious when I walked in. The food is still the same aside from the Thai beef jerky. We ordered yellow curry and cashew nut chicken both of which were bursting with flavor. read more

Decent restaurant for a flavorful meal. It's more Asian vs. Americanized fusion. I'm sure they can whip a good type of salad not on the menu with ingredients used for other dishes. Red curry came in a pint size container to go. Lots of sauce with veggies (eggplant, bamboo, basil) with a meat choice (pork/beef but I got more pork slices) and a cup of jasmine rice. I order medium spice but it was leaning towards the spicier side for me. It has coconut so the sauce shows the thickness and was tasty enough to enjoy. Laos papaya salad was different from Thai (and for me). Besides diced papaya, I could see real chili, slice grape tomatoes, bits green bell peppers and 6-7 pieces of roasted peanuts. The sauce was already mixed, so if you don't want it drenched although that's how it's made to order, ask for it on the side. It had a different type of sauce more like crab flavor (Laos) vs. fish sauce (Thai). Staff is friendly and sweet. I was offer some water for the wait. It sits on a strip mall and the glass is darken to keep heat off the glass doors. read more

We came here together with my family (12 of us total) for dinner and they were very accommodating. This was our very first time here and our waitress was very sweet and friendly. We ordered alot of food but my favorite was the Laos style papaya and the fried talapia. I usually don't like the sauce to be on top of the fish so they were about to put that on the side for me to dip instead. Everything was freshly made. The fried wontons came out hot and crispy, my kids loved it. The food overall was delicious and would definitely come back again. Give this hidden gem a try if you haven't yet. read more

We've been loyal customers for decades and, sadly we're going to have to find another Thai food restaurant. The noodles were not intact and, the tofu was totally skipped. Papaya salad was not as fresh. They've changed owners ( they said co-owners) again, the chef is different as well as the staff, and the food is not near what it was. read more

A diamond in the rough! Delicious! Was there for the lunch special which is affordable and served timely. The ladies serving were excellent. The ambiance is that of a semi-romantic hole-in-the-wall. It has been newly painted and looks neat and clean. My food (mixed vegetables with tofu) was very fresh and delicious. My dinner guest had the panang curry and OMG, it was so incredibly good. I'm ordering that next time. We'll be back. read more

Looked up some restaurants near where I was showing a client over in the Irving area and she picked this place. I had never been there before, but I am always in for surpises and goog Thai! Upon arrival, I saw that the place was rather small tucked away in a strip shopping center. Upon entering, there is Bhudda statue and the place was filled with yummy aromas. We took a seat and Katie our server was quick to give us attention. She brought us our waters and brought us menus. I ordeed spring rolls, which were super fresh and very pretty along with my Pad Thai...my client ordered a curry chicken dish which she said was delicious. We both ordered #3 spicy and it was a perfect tang on the toungue :) I will definately stop back by when in the area! read more

I saw mixed reviews for this restaurant, but the location worked well for my group of 4 to meet up so we decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed my dinner at Bangkok Orchid! We all shared the egg rolls and I tried the Tom Kha soup with chicken and the Pad Thai with chicken and tofu. The plating was in a very cute bowl and my noodles came on a banana leaf shaped plate which I also loved! The soup was delicious as well as the noodles and I felt the spice level matched what I asked for. They have a ton of items on the menu that sounded good, it was difficult to choose! One of my friends tried a shrimp noodle salad, another had a red curry, and the other had a peanut chicken dish, everything smelled and looked great. We also tried the mango sticky rice to finish which was really tasty! The only complaints I had were that the restaurant was on the warm side, so perhaps the HVAC needs attention, and our entrees arrived at different times. However, everyone really enjoyed the food and the new owner was so friendly. I will definitely be making a return visit soon! read more

I always passed by this location but I thought it was closed. They serve the usual Thai staples such as Pad Thai and Thai ice tea, but they also have some dishes that are unique to Thailand. What really made them stand out is that they sell the pink and green Thai milk drinks. The pink drink is def a unique Thai drink that I've never seen in this area before, so I was excited to see it on the menu. Their appetizers are also slightly more affordable than similar establishments. Can't wait to come here again. -- Average Food Cost(s): $$ --Food: Garlic Lover Tofu ($11.95) This was pretty good. It had tofu, onions, corn, peppers, and mushrooms in it. White rice (incl w/ entree) Very delicious and wasn't soggy or too firm. I ended up using it to make fried rice. Side egg fried rice ($3.50) Consisting solely of egg and rice, even with simple ingredients this was a great value for the price. I really loved how it was fried. 4 pc Eggroll ($3.95) Mini sized, fried rolls filled with veggies. Came served with a tangy dip. Very good! --Seating: there are a few regular style tables inside the restaurant. --Location: across from a Target in a fairly busy area surrounded by several other businesses. --Service: great! The employee was fairly friendly and got my order right away. read more

For the past few times I've ordered from here, I've been extremely disappointed. Today is no different. I spent $50 for two dishes to be delivered. The drunken noodles are significantly over cooked to the point where they are little noodle pieces rather than whole noodles. Would like to be contacted for a refund if possible. Also ordered rice spicy and noodles not spicy because my mom can't eat spicy. They did the opposite and now her noodles are too spicy and my rice isn't spicy enough. No attention to detail read more

Apparently Bangkok Orchid has been a mainstay in the Irving area for years and I never found out about it till recently! Hadn't gotten myself Thai food in quite a while, so decided to give them a try. For starters, I wanted to try their sour version of the Thai esan (issan) "sai grok" sausages. They also do a sweeter version. The sausages had a great snapback and were filled with what I would assume to be pork, along with a tiny bit of heat and a sour (true to what was advertised) twang throughout. Dip it in the delicious sweet chili sauce and you're good to go. They do a great version of BBQ pork fried rice. The portion is enormous and can easily be shared by three people. The pork had a sweet finish and had a great crust on the outside without being too chewy (still had a bit of a bite, though). Lots of veggies throughout (Especially liked their generous larger shavings of cabbage) gave the rice a great crunch throughout. The Pad Thai for me was the disappointment, and brought the whole experience down to the middle of the road. Like the rice, the portion was very generous, but the noodles were just so dry on the verge of being difficult to swallow. It needs a great amount of sauce to help it out. The noodles were also clumped together and it was hard to even pick out the individual strands in some places. But the worse knocker was the overcooked chicken and a very musty aftertaste that was unpalatable to say the least. read more

So, right off the bat, they nailed my pet peeve, and that's giving you a menu where half of what's on there is not available! Why in the world would you want to waste your time and mine allowing me to peruse and select items that you know you don't have? NOT a good start. So, I finally settled on wonton soup and chicken pad see-uw. The soup came out piping hot and was delicious! Lots of vegetables and three large wontons. The chicken pad see-ew was out soon after and again it was hot and delicious! Perfect cook and seasoning on both. Great choice if you're in the area. read more

I came in to try this place for the first time and was not greeted at the door. Afterwards, we sat at a table and waited for the waitress to come to our table. There was only an appetizer menu, and I thought that because there was only one other table in the restaurant, that the waitress would come by promptly or at least communicate to us that she'll be there soon. We sat for around 10 minutes waiting and she carried on a conversation with the one other table in the restaurant. At this point, we felt thoroughly ignored. I wish I could have at least tried the food but the service was absolutely awful from the get-go. I would not recommend. read more

The salad they give you before the meal was by far the blandest salad I've ever had. The entree was alright (curry). Due to the low amount of staff they didn't have most of the drinks, but the desserts were tasty. It was a ghost town in there, the seats were torn (benches), and staff were difficult to communicate with. I would recommend it if you're feeling adventurous, but if you're not bold enough to see if you like it, it would be a safe bet to steer clear. read more

I used to driver over 30minutes just to get their food same as today but today was the greatest disappointment of all. I ordered pineapple fried rice level 4 but when I tried it, it was just really blend with not even a hint of spice. Ordered for pick up and came home to my order not being what I wanted it to be. I got the pad kee mao with beef without mushrooms (allergic) and carrots. Almost took the first bite when I got home and saw the mushrooms. I could have had a bad allergic reaction because of their negligence. They even checked it off on their work ticket. Now I paid $15 for something I cannot eat. Couple of weeks before that, same dish but dine in. Halfway of me eating and I noticed a long strand of hair in my food. I did let them know and they did make me a new dish and voided my bill. They've been really careless the last few times I've been there and them almost giving me an allergic reaction because they didn't care to double check was my last straw. It used to me my favorite place for Thai food, now after multiple attempts and repeat disappointment I won't be returning and it's upsetting. read more

After a rough travel day of aircraft problems and missed connections, I got settled in my hotel and looked for a place to buy essentials(toiletries) with a restaurant nearby. The Bangkok Orchid Thai is next to a Target so this was perfect. I ordered the green curry with vegetables and asked to add tofu. There was a small charge to add tofu but it was worth it. The green curry was served in a medium size bowl with a side of rice. I don't eat a lot so I thought the portions were generous for lunch. The curry was a beautiful green and delicious! One caution tip, they will ask you how hot you want your dish. I like spicy Thai food so I ordered a "3". This was a little too hot for me. It wasn't painful hot but it may bring a little sweat to your brow. I arrived around on Friday around 11:15am. There was plenty of seating. The dining area is informal with Thai decorations. The service was good. The kind ladies helped to make this a relaxing and enjoyable meal. Make sure to try the Thai tea! It is very refreshing on a warm day. read more

I came for lunch with a coworker. I ordered duck curry and fried tofu. Pros: They have a large selection to choose from and the food came out pretty quickly. Cons: After one bite of the fried tofu, I almost puked. It immediately went to the trash. I was also dissatisfied with the quality of my duck curry. I liked this Thai restaurant a lot and can see myself becoming a regular! I dined in today with my mother and we ordered: + thai iced tea (really great flavor here, not too sweet and only $2.50. Ask for less ice because they really pack it in) + pad Thai (pretty standard in both flavor and price, I was satisfied) + beef noodle soup (I like the way the rice noodle tasted in this) They do a 1 to 5 scale for spiciness and you can take your pick. I thought spice level 2 was a bit too much for me to handle with the noodle soup! Will ask for 1 next time. Portions are generous (each entree could probably feed me for 2 meals) and the service is excellent. I'll definitely return and probably call for takeout often when I'm too lazy too cook! read more

I'm Thai so this place is NOT an authentic Thai restaurant per my perspective. It's indeed a fusion one. 1. I ordered the Pad-Ka-Pow-Moo-Kob (crispy pork). However, it looks and tastes like another dish; Ka-Naa-Moo-Kob (: Thai language). It's very disappointing. I don't know if it is a mistake or chef doesn't care what customer wants, he/she just cooks whatever he/she wants. Good side is that the crispy pork is very good. It would be really good with an authentic Pad-Ka-Pow. 2. I also ordered the Tum-Moa. It's the Esan Thai style salad. Chef used the wrong noodle which is very disappointing compared to the price I paid. They suppose to use the round, white rice noodle that we normally see at the Vietnamese restaurant in this dish. However, they used the flat rice noodle that we normally use for Pho, Thai boat noodle, Thai Tom Yum noodle, etc. I have never ever seen any Thai use that kind of noodle in Tum-Moa (: Thai language) There are lots of free parking space. Take out only, no dine in during pandemic. read more

Gosh! I enjoyed this place. Firstly, service was exceptional. Even tough I ordered for take-out, I felt very welcomed, and the girl behind the counter was engaging and friendly. Secondly, the decorations were adorable. I spend a few minutes just mesmerized by the lucky cat figurines. I ordered a few things for myself: the deep fried vegetarian egg rolls, the garlic lovers vegetables, and a big bowl of chicken noodle soup. Yeah, I'm greedy sometimes. Ok, the garlic lovers was fantastic, the sauce was just amazing. Also, I absolutely loved the chicken soup. The broth was incredibly flavorful.
