Delicious food. I would recommend and return. I had the beef pad gra prow. My friends enjoyed their pad thai and pad kee mao.

To preface, I have been here before and absolutely loved it which is why I gave it at least 3 stars. Yesterday I went with two of my friends and we ordered a mild pad thai with chicken and a hot pad thai with beef. The girl working was new I believe because none of us have ever seen her working there before. She gave us our number and we sat down. About 10-15 minutes later a waitress came over with egg rolls and we said we didn't order them. Then a waiter came with two bowl of food we didn't order either. The waitress went to the POS and checked and realized that there was a mix up and the party after us was suppose to have our number. However I was confused because our receipt had the same number as the one we were given. The girl at the register came over and asked to see our number and then just took it. She said absolutely nothing to us. No explanation. No apology. Nothing. I understand she is new and the mix up was understandable but she didn't say a word to us on what happened, when our food will be out, etc. It was quite upsetting and I feel like it's basic customer service to at least apologize and explain the situation to the customers so they're not left in the dark. At some point we began to get worried because the large party behind us in line had already receieved most of their food and we hadn't. Then our food came out and the mild chicken pad thai had no spice. We checked the receipt and the girl put in our order as a normal pad thai. We were pretty upset but it was so busy inside and we were hungry so we just ate it and didn't complain. Overall, if I had given this place a review in the past I would've given it a 5 star because the service and food is always amazing but after yesterday I have to lower my rating. Between the girl not filling us in on what was going on and not getting our order right, I was pretty upset. The food was still good regardless and I would recommend coming here. read more

I'm devastated to be writing this review. My (used to be) favorite Thai restaurant did something unforgivable--they gave my order to another customer who took it home. MY food containers were opened up, repacked, and brought back to the restaurant. Thai Canteen workers then gave that same food to my pick up person and told him it would be just fine! It is UNEXCEPTIONABLE for food to leave a restaurant with one customer, be brought back and then given to another customer. The kitchen should have re-made my order like they originally told me they would. Although my money was refunded, a worker at Thai Canteen told me I would also be given a complementary meal for my inconvenience and to make up their mistake. BUT when I called to place my replacement order, they said they would NOT give me a free meal after all. I have let the health department know of this issue and hope it does not happen to any other customers. read more

I love this place in Davis, it's one of the places on the top of my list to come back to when I'm in my college town. The food is affordably priced & the service is usually good, the front cashier is usually a student. I always get a Thai tea which is super sweet & delicious. I also got the pad si ew with half beef half tofu and extra noodles - extra noodles is super worth it to me. I have also tried the roti roti and mango sticky rice as desserts, & highly recommend both as well! read more

Swadikap! I've been to Thailand and the food tasted authentic and identical. Chicken Pad Thai was delicious and a large portion. Counter Service and self-seating for Lunch. I love thai canteen. The food is super delicious and I would say that the overall interior of the restaurant is modern and clean. I usually get the pad see ew and it is so so good. Def recommend. Sometimes they can get really busy and the wait time is long, but you just need to expect it around dinner time. They also offer spice level options and let me tell you they are SPICY. I'm usually pretty good with spice, but even a medium can get me here. I'm not thai so I can't say if the food is super authentic or not, but it sure is good. read more

My FAVORITE Thai restaurant in Davis and there are a lot to choose from. Thai Canteen is so good that two separate friends requested we go here for their respective last meal in Davis. Thai Canteen has solid portions, great drinks, and service. When dining in, I always had to walk up to the front counter and ask for a takeout box because the portions are so huge! You also need to spend $10 minimum to use a card. I have never had an issue with their service, even when the restaurant was packed. It's a popular place in town so it gets packed A LOT. Before COVID, I was fond of their selection of condiments and chilis. The pickled chilis are on point. I haven't dined in since before COVID, so the rest of this review is for takeout. I ordered through their website rather than an app (try to support local businesses this way so they don't get price gouged by delivery companies). Somehow there was a mix up and my delivery order was presented as a pick up order. I called them and they were able to figure out the issue and got me my food in 20 minutes! They even threw in a free Thai tea, which wasn't necessary but showed that they care about their customers! This wasn't their fault but a mix up through the ordering website they use so I really didn't mind. Onto the food, my go-to at any Thai restaurant is the pad see ew. They always do a solid job here. No complaints. I always get it with beef and wind up mixing in chili sauce. I am a spice fiend but know better than to mess with Thai spicy. So to be safe, I order mild or medium and add my own heat after. Pad kee mao is great, tang and crunch where I need it. I never knew that Thai Canteen had sesame balls and ordered them out of curiosity and to make the $20 delivery minimum haha. They turned out pretty great, $5 for 7 or 8 mini sesame balls with red bean filling. I didn't expect to find great tasting sesame balls at a Thai restaurant. Don't know if I would pay $5 for them again, but they were pretty good. Thai tea was good, pretty hard to mess that up. Please support your local businesses! Thai Canteen tries really hard and I'd love to see them continue to thrive here in Davis. read more

5 stars for how good the food is. 2 stars for the price vs portion size. This place has really vibrant flavors, and is super tasty. The only issue is the portion size. The Kan Kari was $15 for a small container and a half cup of rice? Get outta here. So I'm going to have to spend $30 to fill my belly? ‍ Will I keep eating here? Yes, the food is great. Also bummed they took the cucumber salad off the online menu. That was always a refreshing treat. read more

I entered the facility at 1:15pm on 6/27/25 with my service dog, who serves the purpose of helping me go up/down stairs, and reminds me to take my medications to help mitigate my disability. I did not have my service dog vest with me today because it is being washed. When I went inside to order food with my friends, I was waiting in line before the cashier, Vinya, saw me with my dog and replied "no pets allowed" which I responded he is a service dog. Instead of asking what tasks he performs, she responded with: "Where is the service animal vest?" I explained I didn't have it with me, and her response was, "No pets allowed and some customers are allergic" before she attended to the customer in front of her. She was rude and did not ask the mandatory questions regarding service animals before turning me away. It felt highly unprofessional and inappropriate. Per the Americans with Disabilities Act, businesses and public places can ask the following questions: "Is that a service dog?" "What tasks does he perform?" Vinya did not ask either of the two questions. Unlike mandatory protocol that I've experienced at other professional establishments regarding my service animal, this discrimination I've experienced with Thai Canteen felt discriminatory because I had a dog with no "service dog" vest despite me having full control of my service animal. This was a clear violation of the ADA Act and I will be looking forward to seeing how the establishment responds to preventing these types of discrimination from happening again. read more

The food was very good and the worker taking the order was friendly and nice. Can't believe I'd find such authentic Thai food in Davis.

One of the best pad-see-ew I've come across Pad thai was alright Tom Yum soup has only size which is for individual serving versus a large pot to share Menu is written on chalkboard behind the cashier and the register Appetizers I'd say skip and the dessert too, nothing extraordinary A must visit if you love pad-see-ew! And extra bonus because Dutch Bros Coffee is 2 blocks away!!! read more

This is one of my go-to Thai restaurants in Davis! I usually always get their pad thai, but I wanted to try something new when I went out with my friends. Their pad thai is great though by the way! It's not spicy and just has "home-y" taste to it. I got the number 11 (praramrong song). It comes with your choice of meat (chicken, pork, beef, or tofu) with curried peanuty sauce served over spinach and a side of rice. My friend recommended me to try it with pork belly because he said that the pork belly was super crispy and paired well with the peanut sauce! But sadly, they ran out when I visited... So I just got chicken. Praramrong Song with Chicken - 3.5/5 The peanut sauce was so thick and creamy! I loved mixing the peanut sauce, chicken, crushed peanuts (sprinkled on top), and spinach into the rice and enjoying it like that. I think what lowered my rating is the chicken. I found the chicken a little dry this time around. But maybe the pork belly will taste amazing with it like my friend said! I am going to try to come back and get this dish with pork belly instead. Overall, I went at night, and the place was pretty packed. You order at the front cashier, they give you a number stand, and you find a table yourself. Because it was packed, we had to jump around tables to be able to fit all three of us. We went from a 2 seater table and ran to the 4 seater one once people finished eating. Even though it was pretty packed, we got our food in a reasonable amount of time! I love their pad thai, and I always take my parents here when they are in town! That's why I still give this place a 4/5. Must try in Davis if you're visiting or a UC Davis student! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the low key environment and the lengthy menu. Order at the counter , go grab your water and condiments etc. and wait for your order. It was happy hour so beer and apps were 50% off, which was nice. We got 2 snacks/apps and 2 dishes & all were really good. Service was quick enough and the portions were fine. Everything under $15 is a pretty fair deal these days. # 9 Pad Priew Wan GF / VG / VR Sautéed tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumber, green onions, and pineapples in sweet and sour sauce and of course # 26 Padthai- Apps- #37 Thai Fish Cakes #29 crispy veg eggrolls. The worst customer service I've had in a while. The lady at the counter was not wearing a mask even though there was a clear sign on the door for customers to wear masks. She spoke very very fast like she was trying to rush us through the process of ordering. We did it "to go" so we could eat outside. We went back in to ask for water cups and a serving bowl and an extra order of rice and she spoke back to us with such a rude attitude and when we asked for a to go container to use as a bowl for the curry dish she refused because "they were running low". The food is decent, pad Thai that my parents got was good, the pad see ew I got was well flavored BUT HAD AN EGGSHELL IN IT AND really hard burnt pieces that come from no cleaning a grill beforehand. My boyfriends Larb was not done that well and he went inside to ask for some chili sauce because the dish was not spicy at all and the lady again back-sassed us and said "they don't make it spicy cuz people can't handle it" even though when we ordered it she didn't ask what spice level we may want. I never enjoyed this place the first few times I've been here but my family wanted to try it. NOT WORTH IT FOR HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE! I prefer Thai Nakorn on G St. Much more! read more

I didn't think it was going to be that crowded in there, but it was. It was very loud in there. Anyways, I love real noodles. I think I don't get the Pad Kee Mao as much as I should. Pad Si Ew / pad see ew - Nicely done stir-fried noodles with the chewy consistency I'm always craving for. Perfectly prepared to ensure they don't stick to each other so easily. A little light on the soy sauce, but the dish was far from dry and still packed some flavor. Protein choices include chicken, beef, pork, tofu, prawns, or calamari. I chose beef, which added more of a chargrilled taste to the pad si ew. The Chinese broccoli brought a good balance (I've seen them use regular broccoli too) to an already savory combination of noodles and beef. Pad Thai - Thinner stir-fried noodles with a tangy sauce. I'm personally not a fan of this dish in general, especially if the sourness overpowers the other flavors. But the Aggies I know say this is probably the best in Davis. It has a healthy serving of sprouts, chives, and nuts. You can add a protein as well, I would pick chicken because of the juiciness it provides. If you have any dietary restrictions, ask to have your order prepared vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free. Kao Nar Bpet - AKA roasted duck on a small bed of vegetables with rice on the side. Much more generous with this dish, with a pool of sauce collecting at the bottom and portion sizes that justify the price you're paying. The meat was tender and delightful to chew, with a delicious honey seasoning to go along with it. The white rice was freshly made. They also have brown rice and sticky rice. Also try Bamee Bpet Yang - same grilled honey roasted duck, but with egg noodle soup! read more

We came in around 4pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy so we were able to order right away. It was stuffy & warm inside but luckily there are tables outside. I ordered #27 pad khee mao with fried tofu and a Thai fried egg (extra ~$2) and "hot" spiciness. I like that they have a tofu option instead of meat! The tofu and noodles were nicely flavored but next time I'll order mild spiciness. I also ordered a Thai tea, which was really sweet but good. I'm used to Thai tea with condensed milk but they use regular milk here--still tasted great (wish they had a soy milk option though). I recommend getting little to no ice bc most of my cup was just ice. They serve them in mason jars with paper straws that don't get soggy & don't rip, so thumbs up for no plastic and quality paper straws. All of this was roughly $15 due to the add-ons. I'll be trying their pad Thai next time! read more

We came in on an relatively empty night and we were greeted with unfriendly staff that would constantly shoot us mean looks throughout the night. However, what really ruined our experience was that the food took more than 40 minutes to come to us. The cashier failed to communicate the wait-time to us beforehand and didn't check in at all with us about the status of our order. Additionally, other customers were also experiencing this inconsistent wait time and lack of communication. During our experience, we witnessed a worker talking rudely and aggressively to a customer and even cussing about them while walking away even though the customer waited over an hour and a half. Finally, when the food came it was nothing but mediocre. I got watered down curry with uncooked vegetables. Makes me wonder what they were doing for 40 minutes. All in all, terrible customer service with food that fails to make up for it. If you want a good time and good food, go elsewhere. read more

I was in the area looking for a quick spot for lunch. I went somewhere else first but unfortunately they were closed. But luckily, it led me to Thai Canteen! Currently, they offer pickup and delivery through their online website. They do have a couple of tables outside to eat but you would just pick up your order on your own; there's no dining service provided by them. They give you an eta on the website but it would be nice if they also notified you when your food was actually ready, because I was just waiting outside until the time, but it was already ready when I walked in. I ordered the Pad Ma Kur-Kai Dow (~$12) which is stir-fried Chinese eggplant, bell peppers, basil, and your choice of meat/tofu in a mild spice roasted chili sauce. For the meat, I chose beef. It is served with jasmine rice and a fried egg. I was pleasantly surprised with this dish! First of all, I had no idea it came with an egg, so that was awesome! The portion size is pretty solid for the price paid. It is definitely filling and you might even be able to split this into 2 meals. The amount of eggplant and beef is plentiful and the various bell peppers throughout add so much more flavor. The rice and egg complemented the dish very well. Overall, it was a delicious dish and pretty affordable! It was bursting with flavor and definitely hit the spot. Average Thai food, our table's food took forever to come out despite being distracted by my group's conversation and making new friends (though it was quite busy with a lot of customers). I would have loved the green curry if it were actually mild, as I ordered. I took a couple of bites and realized I could not possibly pretend to enjoy it because it was just too spicy for me. When I brought my dish to the front and let Sam know she said they could not remake it, and when I asked she said they also could not provide any kind of partial refund. Additionally, she did not ask me if there was anything else I might want as a replacement. I understand that people have to deliver unfortunate policies to customers sometimes, if they just put a smile on their face when delivering the news they would be half as irritating and keep customers. I was really hungry, and really upset about my experience. As I said, if my green curry were actually mild it would've been top-notch. Now, I will never go back. read more

Thai Canteen was my favorite Thai spot in Davis when I was in college. I stopped by for dinner on the way back from Tahoe and it was just as good as I remembered. My go-to's were always the pad see ew and the duck fried rice. The portion sizes are fairly large for the price and the dishes are always spot on with the flavor. I used to be able to order half and half on the protein selections for the noodles, but I don't think you're able to anymore. The spice levels for this place are on the higher side. I have a pretty high spice tolerance and I usually like getting medium spicy, which to me is on the verge of adding kick without being too spicy that it ruins the flavor. read more

We were in the area doing some quick errands and decided to grab a quick bite. I don't know Davis too well and this particular area seemed like a good recommendation from my friend. According to the front - you can do online ordering by scanning a QR code! I got the pad thai and a thai tea. Food was decent quality. Had decent flavor. Curry was maybe a little more watered down but still good flavor. Decent flavors slightly lighter than I am used to but satisfactory. I agree with the overall 3.5 star rating! We went at 4 pm and ordered at the counter. It wasn't very busy yet on a Saturday summer evening. Our total for three entrees, two appetizers, and two iced teas was $70. Everything came out pretty quickly. Overall, I would say the food is pretty good and worth the money in terms of value and amount. However, none of the dishes had the complexity of flavors I expect from excellent Thai food. The som tum or papaya salad was balanced between sweet and sour but had no other flavors. My pad see ew was sweet and thank goodness they used Chinese broccoli. But, there was no wok hei flavor in the noodles. I didn't like the fried fish cakes in terms of flavor or texture and the dipping sauce that came with it was like chunks of cucumber with a sweet syrup. A bit of spice would have helped all the dishes but alas I didn't see the jar of dried chili flakes near the water station until after our meal. Our dishes were dropped off without much fanfare. The young lady taking our order at the counter wasn't overly pleasant or friendly. No one came by to ask if we needed anything or were enjoying our food. I guess that's just not the vibe they're going for in terms of customer service? Anyway, I wouldn't avoid this restaurant in the future but it also won't be high on my list. read more
