Beef pad see ewe
Linda L.

Pleasantly surprised by Thai Cafe, a restaurant that has always been there but I've never tried! It's in the same plaza as China Garden and A&J, where we frequent. The beef pad see ewe is excellent without noodles being broken up, and the pad Thai is authentic without being too sweet. The green papaya salad is a bit too spicy for me even at the mild level. The service and ambiance are warm and clean. Would definitely go back again!

A perfect spot for a quick lunch or dinner! I came here with my coworkers for lunch, and we had a great experience with quick service and delicious food for a great price! The portions are also huge which I loveeee

Pleasantly surprised by Thai Cafe! Especially considering the relatively average rating. We came here a couple weeks ago for dinner for our first time and had a great experience. The food was delicious, portions were generous, price point was reasonable, and service was nice. While the ambiance isn't much, we still had a fun time. If you like Thai food, I'd definitely recommend stopping in here. You will not be disappointed.

This is our go to place for a quick bite, impromptu. We specially love their on-the-burner soups, pad-see-wee drunken noodles among other items. Service is fast & friendly & shows care. It is a cozy family-type restaurant.

I thought this place was really reasonably priced, the portions were generous. Came here for dinner and the restaurant had a good amount of people, but we were seated right away. The inside felt really cozy and comfortable. We ordered the pad see ew, tom yum noodle soup, and papaya salad. The portions were huge, especially for the price. The papaya salad was ordered as mild and it really wasn't spicy at all, so I'd definitely go a level spicier next time. My favorite part was all the sauces they had on the table. I was obsessed with the vinegar and jalapeno sauce and probably ate half of it by myself. It went so well with everything.

Can't wait to come back here and try more. And come during light hours to see the garden outside. I know it's small but nice detail to add to a Thai restaurant. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. We ordered shrimp egg rolls/spring rolls. Very well composed and filled with delicious ingredients. Thoroughly enjoyed them - just wish the sauce was a little bit thicker to stick to the rolls and hold the full flavor. But not a complaint. My friend had moo krob phad khanna - ate the plate clean - so definitely liked it. I had massaman chicken/ delish! Chicken/ potatoes/ carrots/ peanuts. Carrots could have been sliced smaller since we were eating with chopsticks - but the carrots were soft enough to eat. Very delicious - might even eat my leftovers b4 the night is over!! Adorable place. Well priced and good sized portions. Will definitely come again.

When the hubs & I get some alone time to have a lunch date ~ which is so rare these days, we always like to revisit our comfort foods (aka foods the kids don't particularly fancy, on an average day). Lol So, for authentic Thai food, we immediately think..Thai Cafe! We particularly LOVE this Irvine location because it's conveniently located uber close to our home; in the Arbor Village Center, on the corner of Jeffrey & Walnut (near Sunmerry bakery & Taiko). We can literally go in & out quickly and efficiently. The staff is always uber nice and the vibe is so chill. The food quality has been consistent over the years, which is sooo important to keep the local loyals from coming back. On this particular lunch date, we decided to share a beef salad app. It's always so refreshing and has the perfect level of spice kick (we got medium hotness) and sweet & sour vinegrette. For entrees, we both shared our go-to boat noodles w/ thick rice noods. It's like the Thai version of our Viet pho. Always hits the spot, when we crave something soupy & flavorful. Lastly to round out our meal, we shared a chicken yellow curry (also, medium level hotness) cuz duh..when you think of Thai, you automatically think & crave curry. The 3 dishes together was uber satisfying and perfectly portioned for us both, without feeling like we overate ourselves into a food coma. Will always come back again when we get that Thai crave.

My boyfriend and I were deciding on where to eat and we came across this Thai restaurant when we were driving around. It did not disappoint. We ordered beef satay, papaya salad, white rice and spicy steamed fish. the steamed fish was the highlight of the meal! We devoured it! Super flavorful! The lime, spice, savory, just overall a burst of flavor in every bite!

Been coming here for many years! Even during busy hours there's always had plenty of seating. Usually not too loud and clean interior. Also big parking lot in front. Our go-to's are: pad see ew and the pineapple fried rice. This time we ordered: - pad kee mao: popular dish for a reason! Not too salty, has a mix of chicken and seafood. On the milder side but pairs really nice with the thai chilies on the counter. - bamboo chicken: our first time trying this dish. Was a little salty for our liking so I don't think we would order it next time. Vegetables and chicken were really well cooked though. Definitely recommend a side of rice if you order this.

I haven't been here for a few years. We decided to have dinner here tonight while we were in the neighborhood. Food was as delicious as I remembered. Not sure why the low ratings on Yelp? We ordered the combination fried rice and chicken curry with bamboo shoots. Fried rice came with beef, pork, two shrimps, and fried eggs. That was very flavorful and so tasty. The chicken curry was perfectly seasoned and the chicken was tender. Wish they put a bit more bamboo shoots. Overall, it was a great meal. Restaurant was full for a Sunday late afternoon/early evening. Service was also good.

Friendly and good service. Was a little bit of a wait but nothing too crazy. The food is quickly prepared and piping hot off. Definitely can taste all the deliciousness the dishes have to offer. My favorite was the pad see eww. That's a staple I try when going to any Thai place. The pad Thai also had a flavorful taste as well as the combo fried rice. The restaurant itself was clean and not loud.

Stopped by for a casual dinner during the week. The plaza itself can get hectic at times but there was plenty of parking when we went. The inside is quaint but clean and we were seated immediately. The fried rice was tasty but it would've been perfect if it was cooked just a tad more. The noodles were seasoned well and was a healthy portion. Service was quick and efficient. Solid Thai spot, could see myself coming back soon.

Always consistently good thai food. Its worth navigating the limited hours and challenges placing orders.

We love this place!!!!!!! Hello, can someone post the latest menu please?

They don't have a website, you must come in

Anyone know if they are open for dining inside yet?

Went there three days ago and they are still not doing indoor dining. Thai Kitchen on Barranca is owned by the same family and they are currently back to indoor seating.

Anyone know if this place is still doing business? I tried calling today (Sunday, March 28, 2021) at 4pm and no one picked up. Called 3 different times. Online searches show business hours are correct and should be open...

Yes they opened

Do the close early now or on Fridays? I went this past weekend at 530 pm and it was closed.

Take out service only since the pandemic started

Anyone know if they are open to dine in?? The phone # is busy....

They are not open to dine in. Only togo orders for now.

Did this place close? I keep calling but get a User Busy signal?? Please let me know.

They still open. My wife had to call several times to place a phone order. They probably just busy taking phone orders.

Can I still order stuff other than what's on the lunch menu during lunch? Or is the lunch menu really the only thing I can order from during those hours? I ask because I wanted some Tom Yum hotpot and they didn't have it on the lunch menu.

I think they will, I wanted the trout one afternoon and they totally hooked it up I'm sure they would do that for you too!

Why it closed? Does Anyone know? Thank you

They are open , just very busy

Does anyone know the phone number to this restaurant? I called and I get a busy tone.

I really wanted to love this place. Som Tum is one of my favorite Thai dishes, but this one was missing that balance of flavors I love. The saltiness from fish sauce, the heat from Thai chilies, a hint of garlic, and the sweetness of palm sugar to balance out the lime. Instead, it was overwhelmingly sour, almost as if they used extra lime and barely any fish sauce. It also had this red color that made me wonder if they used some type of chili powder instead of fresh Thai chilies, because there was hardly any heat. Pad Thai is another favorite of mine, but unfortunately, it wasn't much better. It lacked those rich, savory flavors I love and somehow managed to be bland and too sour at the same time. The chicken satay was probably the best part of the meal. The peanut sauce could've used a little more flavor, but overall, it wasn't bad. They did surprise my daughter with mango sticky rice for her birthday, which was really sweet of them! After all those five-star reviews, I guess I expected a lot more. Honestly, it left me wondering if we even tried the same food! I wish I could give Zabb Thai five stars too, but I'd be lying to myself and other Thai food lovers if I did.
