Throughout the years my husband and I have been coming to Thai Basil. It has always been consistently good. Even when my husband and I moved from the area we from time to time returned to this restaurant. Jua Rattanaphun always made us feel like family. I was saddened to find out this past Thursday that this weekend is the last time they are open. Mr Rattanaphun has graced the community with his contagious smile and delicious food for 30 years. I'm saddened to see him closing the restaurant, but happy for his semi-retirement. All the best to you Mr Rattanaphun and your family.

There is a parking garage across the street from this location. Service is wonderful, always checking up on us, someone walking around with water. Decided to dine outdoors in the shade because the weather was so nice out. Shared the fried spring rolls which were nice and crispy. I like that it had noodles in them. My drunken noodles with shrimp were so flavorful and filled with crisp but cooked vegetables. It had a strong taste of basil which I loved. Only had 5 pieces of shrimp for an upcharge of $2. Yellow curry was also very flavorful with a mild spice to it. Can choose white or brown rice and opted for brown rice this time. Water is refreshing and comes with lemon in it. The portions seemed small for the price but, I would definitely come back again to try more dishes because everything tasted great.

Came in for dinner for Dine Sunnyvale week with a friend who was visiting from LA. It was his 1st time dining @ Thai Basil & he loved the food. We ordered quite a few dishes for 3 people because I wanted him to sample as much as he can. We had a wonderful dinner with very good customer service and delicious food. The prices are good with good portion sizes. We have dined here many times and will continue to do so.

Crab fried rice and Spicy catfish were exceptional and are highly recommended. Fresh and authentic flavors. Fairly good portion size for sharing. Unfortunately the service did not match the quality of food. We had an exceptionally long wait after being seated for our food to arrive. Compounding the issue was our server who made an error with our order. Instead of addressing the mistake professionally, she loudly insisted it was our fault, which was, to be honest, both embarrassing and unprofessional. There is always a polite way to handle such situations. While the cuisine was delightful, the poor service significantly detracted from the overall dining experience.

We visited during Sunnyvale food week and had a lovely meal! Plus great Thai tea and attentive service from the staff. Only a few others dining while we were there, it was a nice atmosphere. The food was so delicious and filling! I had leftovers to take home which were great the next day. Will definitely be visiting again for a Thai food craving!

Not sure I will be back here after today sadly. The 38$ for two orders of the chicken basil with two sides of rice is not that bad. The deciding factor to not return is the overwhelming salt that made my stomach turn and the spices I again had asked they leave out of my order and they again did not respect my request. Makes me sad that the last two times and now this being the third time I drove the 45 min drive for the memorable chicken basil plate I crave has been disappointing. The portions were decent. I may have got the old leftovers from a different day. It looks old and salted so much it very well could be. Hope my stomach is not upset later.

Finally able to make it here and it did not disappoint! We ordered the following items to share: yellow curry with beef, shrimp pad thai, calamari and the mango sticky rice for dessert. Everything was delicious. The calamari was good, but not sure I would order it again. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more menu items.

Went for Sunday lunch and the service was quick! The food was delicious and we enjoyed the beautiful weather on the outdoor patio. Will be great to come back and try all the other items. For spicy level they have a scale from 1 to 8 and to me the 4 was mild-hot. Can't imagine how "hot" is.

Good service. The dishes were tasty but the pad see ew was a bit oily. Overall, a good Thai restaurant.

Delicious Thai food! I've never been a fan of Thai cuisine, mostly because of the strong coconut flavor, but this place completely changed my perspective. (For context, I ended up here because of a team lunch from work.) I tried the mango curry -- something I've never seen on a Thai menu before -- and it was absolutely delicious. The green curry was also packed with flavor and very enjoyable. While the service was a bit slow -- we waited around 45 minutes due to a mix-up where our food was accidentally served to another table -- I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. It was my first visit, and the place seemed a bit understaffed during a busy afternoon. The restaurant has a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere with plenty of seating. Their outdoor patio is a great option, especially for pet owners. Overall, it's a great spot to unwind and enjoy a flavorful meal in a comfortable setting.

DoorDash order: Easy pick up and food ready when arrived. 8/10 Pad Kee Mao Beef $ - Food was still hot when I got home which was a plus. Noodles were yummy thick, wide, coated and seasoned well. Beef was ground not strips which was misleading, but still really flavorful. Also I asked for extra spicy and they delivered. :) for the price I'd say this was a solid portion and well made. 7/10 Thai tea $ - Generic and average. They did not mess it up but nothing noteworthy.

Prices are very fair and service is great! Not sure the reason behind the low reviews but the noodles and fried rice never disappoint me

Ordered yellow curry for takeout. It cost $24 and it didn't come with rice. At this price, rice should be included. This place is a rip-off.

Well the risk paid off as all my picky family members enjoyed EVERY dish. Admittedly I am pretty shocked. I think we only *just* beat the rush. We got the menus and it was our first time there. I think the menu organization is a bit confusing. You have to read every single item to try to find a dish you might want to eat because it's sorted by region instead of by protein type. I think it would have been more helpful to have a menu organized by protein or dish type (e.g., chicken or noodles), with symbols for regions or just noting the region in color coded text next to the dish. Honestly, other way around would have been fine too, flag the protein or dish type with text next to it so if you don't eat certain things, you can scan for these right away. The pixie wings appetizer was the best dish when I went, but sadly went downhill from there. The hang leh curry was too sweet and the meat was tough. The panang curry was okay. Ambiance was cozy but a pesky gnat kept hovering around our food. The menu looked so promising with all the regional choices that lent it an air authenticity. I do feel I hold Asian restaurants in a more Asian area to a slightly higher bar. But tough meat is tough meat. I wouldn't mind coming back only because they have such a huge menu that I'm hoping something else tastes as good and our orders were just misses.

We got the Penang braised beef, pad see ew, pad ka pow, Thai hot pot, and mango sticky rice. The Penang braised beef is basically like the Penang curry - very rich, well spiced, and the beef is tender. My favorite dish here. Pad see ew is good but fairly standard - pricing is pretty high for a dish like this - $20+ for a noodle dish. The pad ka pow is good - something I normally wouldn't get, in favor of curry, but it was great for sharing and open up my horizons beyond my typical order. Thai hot pot for $35 was really disappointing - there is good amount of beef but they do not do a good job with the meat cuts and it is easy to overcook due to the constant fire inside cooking up the soup. Mango sticky rice is good - mangoes were sweet and fresh, but the rice was on the undercooked side. Service is good as water refills were present and they brought the dishes in a timely manner. Overall, decent Thai food, but coming from Seattle, this did not wow me the same way as my friends do who live around this area.

The woman who was taking care of everyone seated (about six full tables) was kind and welcomed us to come back which I appreciated. The parking was a little tough even on a Wednesday at 1 PM. I had the hot Japanese sencha while my wife got the Thai Iced tea served with a crushed iced ball on top. Roti Mataba, Crispy Egg Rolls, Farmhouse Wings and Crispy Calamari were our starters for this gang of eclectic diners. I shared with my wife the Panang Neua (braised beef in curry sauce) and Pad See You which came gorgeously plated with generous servings. We were able to sample the Crab Fried Rice and Tom Kha from our dinnermates. Ruk Na (love you) Platter was the underwhelming dessert combo of Thai Vacation, Sticky Rice (no mango), Chocolate Cake with fresh fruits and a macaron. To be described as IG worthy in the menu wasn't accurate IMO. It must've been an off-day in the kitchen when they were prepping this "leave the choice up to us" plate of sweets. Food was way flavorful than regular Thai restaurants we've been to. The common complaint is the very pricy food. The staff was nice though. They even acknowledged our request for photos. Even with the setbacks, this was a nice lunch with this group.
