We've eaten here a few times and each time I feel a bit disappointed, because I just never get what I am hoping for. I usually get the sesame chicken and each time I feel like it doesn't taste freshly made, I just don't think it's hand breaded or anything, it tastes a bit premade. It is still decent, I just wouldn't order it again. Today I got the Pineapple Curry (Thai Hot) and I eat curry a lot, this one was not my favorite but also not the worst that I've had (I've had one that was worse). The chicken was sweet and pineapple-y in flavor, the curry itself was spicy but not flavorful. It didn't have any real flavor to it, other than a bit of pineapple and the heat flavor. Yeah, we don't recommend this place. We were hoping to find a good thai restaurant in the area but this is definitely not one of them. First off, there is a lot of chinese and vietnamese food on the menu and not a whole lot of actual thai options. Number two, the food was "meh" - the pad thai was too sweet and the meat in the drunken noodle tasted a little off (which probably contributed to my husband's upset tummy that day). We decided on take out for Valentines day. We ordered about 7 items and all of them were wonderful dishes. My kids gobbled up the Pad Thai as fast as they could :) The Duck was fabulous I must say. Perfect crisp. The flavor was amazing. Tasted like a cross between anise and clove oil in the marinade. Whatever it was it was simply delish!! The Thai Basil Tofu was also awesome the nice firm white tofu had wonderful texture. It could be the excitement and romance from Valentines day but I would definitely order from here over and over and over again ;) read more

First of all, I ordered delivery and was super impressed with how fast my food arrived! I live on 104th and they said it would be about 30-45 minutes but the food got here in 15 minutes and it was HOT. the food all arrived very nicely packaged with none if it spilling out of the containers or anything like that. There were also an insane amount of food with the very healthy portion sizes. As far as the flavors of the food go, I'm not too impressed. I will say that the crab rangoon was very good and the sweet and sour sauce that came with it was great. The sesame chicken was so-so and the fried rice and egg roll that came with it were less than appetizing. The thai spring rolls were okay on their own but I didn't like the peanut sauce which had an overpowering lemongrass flavor. The thai fried rice was pretty good but I've had better. I sought out this establishment, curious after seeing mixed reviews online, and desperately wanting to find a local restaurant that offered high quality Thai food--no matter the price. The north burbs did not seem to have such a place -- and unfortunately, after visiting Thai Basil, we're still in the same place. The owner was quite welcoming and attentive when I arrived to review the take out menu, which made me feel welcomed and hopeful. I was seated to review the menu, and offered water while I reviewed the menu, which I considered a courtesy and appreciated. When I was ready to order, someone arrived to take the order promptly--another plus. Was feeling really great about this place. I ordered lemongrass mussels, chicken satay, and coconut soup to go. While I appreciate the kind service, the first reason restaurants exist and have patronage is because people are hungry and want a good meal that--for whatever reason-- they aren't responsible for cooking. Maybe they don't have time. Maybe they don't know how to cook the dish. Maybe they just don't want to. but regardless of the reason, people who go to restaurants want 1) a good meal and a 2) good deal, and are willing to pay for that. A good meal and a good deal include the quantity and quality of food and the service, and I believe, in that order.. To speak to the value of the good meal: 1) The quantities were fair. 2) To speak to the quality: The chicken satay was the worst I have ever had, and I have had many a chicken satay. The chicken was flavorless, overcooked, and tasted like what I would imagine the tongue of a sneaker would taste like. The peanut sauce was thick, grainy and practically flavorless, as well. Just really the worst I have ever had. The temperature of it was cool, rather than warm. Very, very un- recommended. 3) The lemongrass mussels had an excellent flavor--really nice spice blend and super yummy flavor, but the mussels were tough/ super overcooked, and the broth was oily, really spoiling the cook's talent in spice blend. 4) The soup was generous in some yummy mushrooms abut also (way undercooked) 2-inch onion chunks, in a "broth" that I believe was simply coconut milk and nothing more. I wish this place had the food quality that equaled their kind and quality service, which would give them 5 stars, easily. I went there for lunch with a couple of friends about two weeks after they opened. It was nice to see our favorite waitress from Newport Chinese Cuisine there, Diane. Unfortunately, she was really the only good thing the place had going. The tables are all pretty close together, so we had to sit very close to the table. It felt like we were eating with strangers and our conversations all mixed. We ordered Thai Iced Tea and Diane told us they didn't have that yet as they had just opened. It had been a couple of weeks, so that seemed a bit unacceptable to me. We ordered the Golden Tofu appetizer and each of us had a noodle dish. The Golden Tofu appetizer was really too big, though it was decent. Our Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and Pad Se Lew all came at different times, but they were hot when they arrived. We all agreed that the Pad Thai was almost too sweet to eat. The Drunken Noodles were a bit too salty. The Pad Se Lew was the hit of the table, but even that wasn't particularly stellar. It really felt like the place opened too soon. It seemed all very unorganized. With so many other restaurants to try I doubt I'll be back. read more

After having lived in Hawaii, it is not the most amazing Thai food but it is acceptable. It's actually a mish mash of all sorts of Asian food. The green curry is very watery. It's more like soup than anything. I can make better Thai (or any) curry myself. I found the drunken noodles very good, although it was slightly more Chinese than Thai. It was not too greasy, like most Chinese restaurants, and it actually tastes quite like Thai food in that they use sticky sweet soy sauce and spicy pepper with this dish. I would have ordered beef drunken noodles as it is more traditional, but my friend doesn't eat beef so we ordered chicken and it was delicious. I was very surprised to see that the menu did not include Green Papaya Salad. They also serve fortune cookies which is also CHINESE, not Thai. It probably is run by Chinese people just as are many sushi places these days (Matsumotto......which they spelled incorrectly, clearly NOT Japanese if they can't spell their name correctly, but that is a different review). I love the fact that they offer free delivery and that they deliver on time or before. It really depends on what you order as to how good it will be. read more

Thank heavens this place is only 5 minutes from my house. That's both a good and bad thing, because I can get Thai food at anytime. My taste buds are happy, but my belly might sprout a growth spurt. Pad Thai is definitely on point here. I always judge Thai places by their Pad Thai, because if they can't cook that staple right, then why would I trust them with anything more complicated? But Thai Basil apparently knows exactly what is up when it comes to their food. Portion size is so on point that you could make a sword out of it. I had enough to stuff myself for two meals. Now I may be a small enough dude, but I barely made a dent in the dish when I ate it at first. It was a little more expensive than expected, but if they're gonna make up for it with that kind of portion size, then I don't mind tossing a couple more coins in their jar. Service was nice enough and the food came out so quick that I didn't even have time to scroll through the front page of Reddit. Parking is easy as well! Walking on in one notices that the interior is tastefully decorated. Though overall it was just an okay experience here. Ordered the Satay Beef, it was just alright as I was a bit blown back by the use of red onion (which they used too much). It also came with steamed cauliflower & broccoli. I should have asked for steam rice since their fried rice is nothing to gush about. Otherwise service was good as the waitress was attentive and polite throughout my eating experience. I decided to order delivery for work and let me just say wow! They initially quoted about 30 to 50 minutes however about 15 minutes in I get a call saying they were outside. I was stunned by how quick they were, suck it Jimmy Johns. Sadly the food was disappointing. Typically Thai food is some of the spiciest and most flavorful dishes amongst Asian food. Unfortunately the Thai Spicy Soup was one of the blandest things I have ever tasted. There is more flavor in the tap water at work and calling it spicy is hysterical. Second the Thai Hot Basil Chicken for being "one of the favorite hot chicken dishes" was nothing special, when ordering anything "Thai Hot" I almost expect to be needing Pepto however after the first bite it was apparent a baby child could eat this. I have heard some great things about this restaurant so I will be giving it another shot in the future. For being a "cheat meal" I regretted eating here, as of right now I do think their are better options out there. read more

Based on this experience I cannot recommend this place. I am a big drunken noodle fan. I have had the dish all over the country and know me some drunken noodle. I would not call this drunken noodle, it used some sort of brown sauce and was just bland and kinda weird. The broccoli tasted fishy and was not fresh and the noodles were about half the width of what normal drunken noodles are supposed to be. The star to me of a good drunken noodle dish is mint leaves and they were far and few in between and they were completely killed by the weird sauce. I phoned in my order and it was very difficult. I wanted to know how much it was and I couldnt get a straight answer, I asked him multiple times for the price and he kept asking for my phone number and just talked to me like I called him at his home and was interrupting him. A lady then came on and answered questions somewhat but again trying to get information about the dish was like pulling teeth. When I walked in my first clue this place maybe would not be good was seeing a table that a group had just left and most everyones plate had 1/2 to 1/4 of food left on their plate. I know how they felt cause at about 3/4 of the way through forcing myself to eat it, I simply could not eat anymore due to the horrible unpalatable flavors. After a while of watching my food get cold i asked where it was and they remembered I was there. The chicken in my pad Thai seemed processed. My husband and I have been coming here for a few years now, since it opened and have had decent service when we dine in. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for delivery service. Tonight we placed a delivery order at 6:00 and were told it'd be 30-65 min. Maybe better--what this location lacks in total space, it makes up for in better lighting and décor. A smiling hostess led my party to our table and we got a lot of food for not a lot of money. Always a winning combination. I enjoy that you can choose the level of spice you want. My American tastebuds agree. Tasty fresh Thai food & friendly service. It was a good that we shared both the Drunken Noodles & Penang Curry, otherwise the flavors from just a single dish could have become a bit monotonous. Decor - 4 Simple and tasteful, with nice thick wooden table tops & authentic looking framed posters on walls. Very small space and probably cannot accommodate large groups. Food - Drunken Noodles - 4 Ordered with shrimp, very yummy! The noodles were a perfect al dente. The only challenge was that they were SO slippery. The angular bowl (tilted toward you) helped to catch noodles as they repeatedly slid off the fork. Would keep kids entertained for at least 20 minutes! But, it needed more spice. So we asked for chili oil, which really helped it pop. Panang Curry - 3 Good flavors, but again not spicy enough to compensate for the full fat coconut milk. It was pretty sweet even after adding additional hot sauce. Overall, we've had more dynamic Thai food in the past, but Thai Basil was good. And, if in the area, we would come again. read more

We've been to Thai Basil a few times in the past, but the food we ordered last night was excellent. My wife and I ordered the Panang Curry and the Curry Chicken in Peanut Sauce. The chicken was tender and the flavor of the sauce was amazing. The rice at Thai Basil has always been one of our favorites in the area. This was definitely one of my favorite Thai meals that I have ever ordered. Our server was very friendly and everyone did an amazing job ensuring that our experience was the best. I just moved back from Hawaii, where amazing Thai food is all over, so I was skeptical to even try Thai here. I was pleasantly surprised by Thai Basil! The staff is very friendly. I'm always offered a glass of water or soup when I come for pick up and it's not ready. My favorite dish is the drunken noodles with tofu. The flavor is great and the spice is just right. My boyfriend orders the lemon chicken and really likes it (he's also from Hawaii and never really cared for Thai). This is my go to for Thai in the Thornton area! read more

My wife and I are both foodies and I assure you we know good Thai food. It's not the best I've had anywhere but is the best of at least 10 different Thai restaurants in the Denver Metro area and better than most in L.A. (where we used to live) and other major cities as we both travel extensively, We live in Thornton and are glad it's so close and are here at least weekly we've had just about everything on the menu.
