I was here last night as part of the meet up group that I run. I had high hopes for it. Good Thai food, like good Mexican, as so far eluded me.
When possible, I also like to start off with the positive. But for some restaurants, I have written reviews on, this is just not possible.
When we arrived, we got our table very quickly. The next positive thing is the decor here. Now, its not top notch by any means, but when it comes to Asian type restaurants, they are up there in the decor rankings.
They have these lights hanging from the ceiling in very nice fixtures that change colors. I liked this a lot.
But Im afraid here is where the positivity stops.
After we were seated, we waited for at least 30 minutes before the waitress came to take our order. I was finally able to catch her eye as she was coming back from another table.
Once she took our order, we again we are on wait list. After another 20 minutes or so, the waitress brought out our salads. None of us even knew we were getting salads. But to get them so late after placing our order was just weird.
The salad was just ok. Nothing of note here.
Next came our meals. I got the Pad Thai. I ordered this because the menu said it was the most popular item on the menu. I figured this meant it was their best dish, so thats what I got.
On a side note, how do places determine what is the most popular dish on a menu. Do they put all their dishes on a dartboard and throw darts to figure this out?
Do they poll their customers, or what? Im assuming its based on sales, but who knows. Maybe this was just the dish the cooks like cooking the most.
Anway, when I got the Pad Thai, by mouth almost dropped open. It looked pretty disgusting. Now, we eat with our eyes and nose before we ever take a bite. I know sounds weird eating with your nose, right?
That just means that a lot of taste is based on smell. So when the waitress brought out my Pad Thai, the first thing I did was look at the dish and smell it.
The pile of noodles looked.....well to be honest, it looked like a big pile of you know what. Not appetizing at all!
But I was very hungry by this time, so I wanted to eat it anyway. As for the smell, it smelled fishy. If I were to close by eyes, I would have thought it was a plate of seafood.
I had ordered Chicken with the Pad Thai, but I had to search and search for the chicken. It was like that old commercial; "Whers the Beef"? or Wheres Waldo. Waldo it seemed had left the building!
As for the taste, well, like I said, I was hungry. It tasted fishy and that was about it. Everyone at our table said that they were very disappointed in the heat level of their dish. We all had to add sauce for flavor and heat.
There were people in our party that said that the food here was good, so maybe they were just having an off day. It happens.
But for me, I probably will not be going back. read more
