The "Where Have You Been All My Life?" Moment We've lived in Meridian for eight years, literally half a mile down the road for some of that time, and we are just now trying Sa-Wad-Dee? Talk about a mystery! My wife and I finally swung by for a kid-free Saturday date night, and honestly, we've been missing out. The Vibe & A Happy Surprise The atmosphere is so welcoming with plenty of seating, but take my advice: get there early! By 6:30 PM, the place was packed. As a wine lover, I was hit with a total "welcome shock." Usually, Thai spots stick to a basic beer list, but Sa-Wad-Dee has a fantastic wall of wine! Seeing a solid selection of bottles and glasses made me feel right at home. I grabbed a bottle of one of my favorite reds at a very reasonable price--definitely my kind of dinner. The Main Event The service was top-tier, super attentive, friendly, and just genuinely nice people. And the food? Not a single miss. * Drunken Noodles: Full of authentic, bold flavor. * Shrimp Curry: Absolutely fantastic. Final Thoughts If you're looking for excellent Thai in Meridian, don't hesitate. Can't wait to go back here. The food is excellent and the service was top notch. Very friendly. The red curry with chicken was so yummy, with a great balance of meat, vegetables and plenty of curry sauce. Big pieces of chicken. The spice level was exactly what I expected (2 of 5 was as advertised - spicy but did not linger on the tongue). Husband got the drunken noodles with shrimp at 3 out 5 spice level. He was wanting heat and he got it. Almost went with 4 but was advised 4 is definitely hot (we go to Thai regularly & sometimes it isn't as hot as we want it to be, just for reference). Moved back to the area and haven't been to this restaurant in over 10 years. It was not as I remember it. Ordered the fresh salad rolls and most Thai restaurants serve these with peanut sauce. I ask for that instead of the chile with peanut and they added four bucks to the bill. You can see it in the picture. The rolls had good flavor but were small. Ordered a glass of Sauvignon blanc and it totally tasted like Chardonnay. Ask the server and she said it was correct. I don't dink it and she didn't to anything to correct it. Waisted $9. The asparagus dish had good flavor but very little protein. Counted 4 shrimp in the dish. Overall take was service was marginal. Prices were high for what was served. It's not what it used to be. I just got hired to be a mascot for a tax business next to this Thai restaurant on the weekends and since my shift got cut short due to an insane amount of rain that made it difficult for me to walk and dance along the sidewalk in a blow up costume while holding a sign, decided to get some lunch here. Let me tell you, I was definitely not disappointed!! It's a cute little restaurant and the workers were overall friendly. I started with a cocktail called the Tom Yum margarita which is extremely unique- it's got Thai Chili lemongrass, lime and cilantro! While it has the Chili and it says on the menu that it's spicy.. I really didn't find it all that spicy personally. The lime and cilantro were the strongest flavors in it. It was very good and makes me want to try more of their drinks. For my entree I got sweet and sour chicken with brown rice which was delicious but for $15, you hardly get any chicken in it. I'd probably get it again sometime but id pay extra for more chicken to be added. I plan to visit again soon to try their orange chicken and another cocktail ! read more

My favorite Thai spot! The dining room is a good size with plenty of tables, so it doesn't feel cramped. Staff are friendly and happy to offer suggestions. You can choose your spice level, which I appreciate. The food is consistently delicious. Everything comes out hot and packed with flavor. Favorites so far: Fresh Roll Appetizer, Basil (Drunken) Noodles, Thai-style Beef Pho, Spicy Basil, and Thai Fried Rice. There's still a lot on the menu I want to try. Highly recommend. read more

The food was good when we went, and the service was okay. Our food was taken and brought out, but there wasn't really any conversation or extra service, so we didn't feel like the experience warranted leaving a tip. What made us very uncomfortable was what happened after we left. A lady came out to our car and kept asking if she had done a bad job and why we didn't leave a tip. She didn't directly ask us for money, but she continued standing there and questioning us until I felt pressured to give her $10. The whole situation was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. Num Tok (Spicy Grilled Beef), meat was so tender and packed with flavor. Yummy Chicken with Cashew Nut was truly excellent, balanced, comforting and done just right. For our main courses, our teen gobbled up the Pad See Ew with steamed tofu (fave!), and we all delighted in the Asparagus Delight and Yakisoba. I always order the Penang Curry to evaluate a Thai restaurant. This was a very generously portioned curry with background heat, rich flavor, and a touch of sweetness. Large plump broccoli florets offset a lovely contrast with the reddish-pink hue of the curry. I ordered a side of brown rice, which was deliciously soft and slightly nutty. I ordered just the regular iced tea, but it was quite refreshing with clean flavor. And they offer free refills! I love the attention to detail with the delicately carved lemon slices. The silverware has a good weight to it with a beautiful bamboo pattern. They have very nice heavyweight plastic containers with tight fitting lids to take your extra food home, guaranteed not to spill. . Cons - I was given the choice of steamed or fried tofu, and I opted for the steamed, but unfortunately, my dish was served with the fried tofu. I mentioned this to the server who offered to make the correction, but I told her it was not a problem, and actually, the fried tofu was quite delicious! Came here for dinner on a Friday night and it was relatively busy. There was no parking out front (as usual for dinner), so we pulled over to the lot behind the building. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long to be seated. The service is quick and friendly! We were immediately given water as soon as we were seated. We ordered a Thai Tea, the Together appetizer, and the Mango Chicken and Basil Duck as our entrees (both of which are listed under the Chef's Recommendations). The Thai tea was amazing! It didn't taste watered down and it was actually creamy. The Together appetizer was better than expected, especially the wontons. The dipping sauce was sweet and sour, but more on the sweet side. The Mango Chicken was great! The Basil Duck was sadly not crispy as advertised in the item description, but it was still good nonetheless. Loved the amount of veggies in both dishes too! Tried Sa Wah Dee for the first time last night with friends, and we will certainly be back! The service was attentive and friendly. We brought a bottle of wine, and they do have a corkage fee, that we wanted to pair with our Thai food. The food was excellent! There were 4 of us and we started by sharing the appetizer sampler. Nice mix of munchies and loved the green beans! We all got different entrees. I hade the shrimp curry and loved it! It was tasty, just a little heat and a generous portion. It had a wonderfully flavorful & rich sauce (just a touch of heat & nice sweetness) with tender pieces of chicken, potato & carrot. I would definitely order this again. My table also tried the sample platter. What stood out for me were the chicken wings. I love really crispy wings with soft moist meat in the center & they absolutely delivered here. I wasn't much of a fan of the spring rolls & fried shrimp rolls unfortunately. They were too over cooked for me. My table enjoyed the fried green beans & fried wanton. This is hands down the best Thai food in the Boise area! We arrived and the restaurant was packed. We were told we would have a 20 minute wait and we're seated in under 10 minutes. It is a very small, intimate dining area. We had the best server Salina who made sure we were well taken care of. We started with the crispy flower appetizer which was very similar to a crab Rangoon. They were delicious! All of the food we got was incredible and left us wanting to come back! We tried the pad thai, shrimp in the mud, massamun curry, and mango chicken. Have been wanting to try this place since we moved here in June. The service was great, very attentive and helpful. Brought us more drinks, checked how the food was. Atmosphere was okay, sort of Thai-like. Food came quickly and was hot. Taste was just okay, not much flavor to any of our dishes. We had fresh rolls which were pretty good. We had a Phad Kee Mao 2*, fried rice 2* and Green curry 2*. None of these dishes were spicy at all. Did not care much for the flavor of the food as there really was none. Will try another place in the future to compare but definitely not impressed. Cost was average for prices these days. I guess when I go out since I am paying astronomical prices I would like to have exceptional food. read more

Slightly expensive - BUT very delicious. I ordered the chicken pad Thai with a level 3 spice. I was not disappointed with the spice, I would say 3 has a great and obvious kick in the first few bites that kind of mellows down (maybe cause your mouth is a little numb by then). I greatly enjoyed this dish, complex flavors that combine together perfectly in a savory and slightly sweet flavor. The noodles aren't what I'm used to for pad Thai, which are flat noodles, but these worked fine as they were cooked just right and were covered in the amazing pad Thai sauce - no dry noodles here. Every bite was full of flavor and sauce - make sure to squeeze the lime to get a zesty flavor to compliment the savory! Would love to come back! read more
