Thai Basil is hands down one of the best Thai restaurants in town. From the food to the service, you will not be disappointed. I have been coming here for years with my Grandma. My Grandma is a very specific eater and Thai Basil always accommodates her needs. Lisa always takes great care of my Grandma and will never forget how my Grandma likes her food prepared. I stopped in for to go lunch today. I got the pad Thai with tofu and Grandma's special. My lunch was fabulous as always! So flavorful and tasty. Grandma's ate a lot of her meal and will have some for later. We finished off our lunch with purple sticky rice with mango. It's such a simple dessert but so good! Everything is so good here! The ambiance is great. The fresh salad rolls are on par, but instead of the chili sauce needs to be served with peanut sauce. Ask and they will sub it out. The shrimp dish only had 8 small shrimp. The service was slow and seemed overwhelmed and unorganized. Will comeback and try again. read more

The food is fresh and tasteful. The atmosphere is more than just an average Thai restaurant , very nice. The only recommendation. I would have is to have the friendly male servers wear all black and have nicely combed hair. I don't have a picture to add because I finished the delicious food before I realized I wanted to leave a review. I got the lunch special, which included a really good cream cheese puff. Then the entree was pad thai chicken and it was really good. I ordered it medium spicy, and I know spices subjective, but I personally could've taken it a little spicier. But still, it was delicious and I will be back. We had a really nice young man (I'm sorry I didn't get his name) serving us and he was attentive, very nice, and the food came out quickly. Worst Thai food of my life, and Thai is my favorite. Do not be fooled, they are making food for the wonder bread, Crowd. Absolutely no flavor and no spice. I ordered pad kee mow, drunken noodles, which by definition are very spicy and that is why people eat them as a hangover cure. What I received is boiled chicken with boiled noodles and a few pieces of green onion. Absolutely no flavor and no spice. If they intention is to feed the white Wonderbread Crowd with no flavor then they should say that upfront. They should say we do not serve traditional Thai food. If you have the option to give it flavor or spice, then they should ask you when you are ordering. This food is absolutely bland. Probably would've had more flavor from some prepackaged frozen Thai meal from Walmart. If you are new to eating Thai food, do not believe that if you go here that this is what real Thai food is like. Came here with a party of 3 for dinner on a Sunday evening and this place was pretty packed! Luckily, we didn't have a hard time finding parking and we only waited about 5-10 minutes to be seated. The service was quick and friendly! I ordered the chicken pad Thai with medium spice. For a frame of reference, my upper limit is hot Cheetos and the medium spice here definitely was skirting on that edge, but I could've handle more spice. The pad Thai itself was great! Found this little gem of a place on a moments notice. Fortunately I missed the mad rush for lunch so the service was great and food came out fast. Started with the Tom Yum soup with shrimp. It was perfect. Then I had the green curry with shrimp. The serving of Jasmine rice was about the size of a softball! Very generous! The curry was nice and creamy and not too spicy. They did it right and the mix of veggies in it was great. Not overloaded with bamboo (thank God). Anyhow, the food was amazing and service was great. Would totally go back again. This is my go-to Thai spot, and it never disappoints! Everything I've tried has been absolutely delicious. I have to give a special shoutout to the mango sticky rice--it's hands-down the best I've ever had. My personal favorite is the green curry with chicken, and the Tom Kha Gai is absolutely amazing. The restaurant itself is a cozy, dimly lit space that's perfect for a relaxed meal, but we also love getting takeout. You might wanna skip this place. It's messy inside and my phone order was more than the menu price and looked more like a tiny lunch portion instead of dinner. When I asked the staff person (who said she was a manager) why the order was more than the online menu price, she simply said "oh"... and walked away to get my order. Came back and rang me up for a dollar more, never offering an explanation. It's this simple - if you're going to raise prices, you need to update your online menus. It's not that difficult. Anything else is basically... dishonest. Perhaps the worst part if I could look past the very messy inside of the restaurant, carpet unswept and cardboard boxes and plastic wrap trash sitting in well view of the entry, is the small portion sizes. I was STUNNED at how small my order was for $15 bucks. I've eaten at Thai and Chinese restaurants all over the West & West Coast and rarely have problems, but this is my most disappointing experience yet. The carry-out box was not even half full; a ridiculously small entree for this price. The taste? Nothing special. I can cook beef and soy sauce at home, I'm looking for that special "Thai" taste but didn't find it here. We were seated quickly at 5:30 on a Friday night. Nice Thai style decor and lighting. That is the best part about this place. Only half full at this hour we waited at our table for a server for quite some time. About 5:45 a server came over and took our order. We ordered an appetizer of lettuce wraps, 2 water, saki, and 3 entrees with a 2* spice. When she left the table my husband said" well she is not in a good mood is she"? To which I replied no she definitely is not, I hope the rest of the night is not like this. Well, it was. After walking away we did not see her again. About 15 minutes passed without getting our drinks. Another table next to us sat down about and had their drinks almost immediately with another server. I asked that server if he would have our server bring our drinks. He went and got our drinks for us and apologized. Another guy brought our sorry looking lettuce wraps a few minutes later. As seen in the picture there is no way to wrap anything. This was served with a 4"x4" triangle chunk of iceberg lettuce, mostly which was yellow. Not a good start with the food. At 6:25 our entrees finally came by way of another person who set them on the table and started to walk away. We called back after him as we had no plates, napkins or serving utensils. He apologized and went to get them for us. The veggie stir fry was pretty good and spiced as we like, about a 2*. The Drunken noodles were not fully cooked and had 0 flavor and 0 spice. Had a bit or 2 and left it. Lastly we ordered a Chicken Fried Rice. While it was a good fried rice, there was 0 spice. Our server never came back to check on us, fill our water or take our empty plates. We sat there, never seeing our server again waiting for someone to help. Finally the hostess walked by and I had to ask her to send our server as we had not seen her since she took our order. She went to the kitchen and I saw her talking to the server but she still did not come over. Some else brought our bill. We paid and were leaving when miraculously our server came over and apologized for not being around. That was an understatement. She gave her reason that she was an expeditor not a server and she was busy with to go orders. Well, if you are not a server don't take our order and leave us stranded. Wouldn't sit the two of us in booth which is what we wanted. Manager man explained booth is saved for larger crowd i.e. 4 or 6 people. Said that makes sense. But then saw a couple get seated in booth twice then 1 person got a booth. Even when I saw tables available. Told him he was inconsistent passed me off. I loved Thai Basil. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the decorations give it a good vibe. They have a variety of options on their menu. We got the chicken pad Thai as well as the cashew chicken. I asked to add a little spice to the pad Thai. She said she would do a two star. I agreed but assumed it was out of a five star scale. It turns out the spice level is out of 3 stars. My wife was craving green curry. We saw that this place was near. We did see that they closed lunch service at 2:30. We arrived at 2:02. They had a sign inside that the dining room was closed, they said they stopped serving lunch 20 minutes before they closed. It still was 2:02. DELICIOUS! Sorry no pics- we ate it all so fast! Tofu Pad Thai- unlike any other I've had and was absolutely yum! Plenty of fried tofu with, beautiful tamarind color and flavor. Mongolian Beef- tons of meat, great flavor, enough for lunch the next day. Cha Goi - Fried meat eggrolls.
