I I was craving Thai food , opened Yelp, and found this little GEM ! It's a small, cute Thai spot, and since it wasn't too busy on a Tuesday evening, I was seated immediately. I ordered the Pad Thai, and it was delicious--the sweetness was just right! I got the peanuts on the side and only wish I had asked for lemon or lime, since I love squeezing fresh citrus over my noodles. There were two servers in the dining area. One was incredibly kind and bubbly, while the other was a little less warm. Overall, though, the service was good and I enjoyed the cute, cozy vibe. I'm so glad I found this place and definitely look forward to returning--or ordering food to go, since I noticed quite a few takeout orders while I was there! I'm a huge fan of yellow curry, so that's already on my list for next time. If my husband comes along when my next Thai craving hits, we'll have to order the Pad Woon Sen too! read more

Finding a New Year's Day dinner can be a struggle, but KiiN KiiN really saved the day! Since our usual Meridian spots were closed, my wife and I decided it was the perfect time to give this newcomer a try. The Experience We arrived right when they reopened for dinner. Pro tip: They take a little siesta between lunch and dinner service, so definitely check the clock before you head over! The space itself is super cozy (think 6-8 tables), and it was buzzing! It's clearly a local favorite for takeout and delivery, which meant a bit of a "driver party" happening near the door while we ate. It's a small venue, so things can get a little snug. The Food The kitchen was working overtime, and it paid off! Here's what hit the spot: * Drunken Noodles (Pork): The absolute MVP of the night. The flavors were bold, authentic, and totally hit the mark. * Garlic Stir Fry (Shrimp): This was a close second. The shrimp were huge and fresh, and that garlic sauce? Chef's kiss. The Verdict The staff were incredibly sweet and hustled so hard to keep up with the holiday rush. While our old-school favorites still hold the #1 spot in our hearts, KiiN KiiN is a solid addition to the Meridian Thai scene. Kiin (say keen) in Thai language means eat. Kiin Kiin is a welcoming phrase, roughly come and eat. One feels that welcome in this tiny place from the moment one steps inside. We enjoyed every moment of our lunch visit for gracious greeting and good service and every bite of the four dishes we ordered to share. Pride of ownership shines in every way. If you haven't tried it yet, now is the time to do that before it becomes better known when I imagine that like Nahm Thai and Burmese (arguably the best in the Treasure Valley) that started out slowly and now is always full, this will be the same here. HOURS NOTE: They are closed on Wednesdays. On other days, they open at 11a and serve lunch until 3p then close until 5p when they reopen for dinner. MENU & FOOD: There is a lunch menu and while I typically want to order from dinner menus even at lunch time given lunch menus don't always contain the dishes I want to eat (as example here that would have included Khao Soi that is not on the lunch line up), I didn't ask if I could order dinner menu dishes given they are relatively newly opened and still wayfinding and I didn't want to complicate matters. The menu is multipage and laminated, suggesting things will not change often, and there are items found in most Thai restaurants as well as Northern Thai specials not found everywhere. Using the lunch menu we tried Spicy Eggplant w/pork ($13), Pad Thai w/vegetables ($13), Garden Rolls ($11) and Kanom Jeeb, small steamed Thai dumplings ($11) for total bill BTT of $48.00. Prices are a few dollars higher on the dinner menu for the same items and I assume that means portions might be larger too but we found the lunch portions more than ample, even to share. There are items on the dinner menu not listed at lunch. This is a Thai dining experience for people who appreciate quality over quantity. Everything was expertly prepared and beautifully plated. The spice level on the eggplant which comes medium, was perfect and even the white rice was delicious. We look forward to more visits to eat our way through the menu. INTERIOR: When we walked in the door we could both smell and hear the sound of food hitting a hot wok or pan and that was part of the sense of welcome as well as the greeting by the nice woman who would be our server. Everything is sparkling clean and soft colors are on the walls. There was a nice mix of current pop music on the sound system set at a level that supported conversation and didn't compete with it. SEATING: There are five or six 2-top tables lined up along one wall, a bench at back and chairs in front, and a pair of 4 tops tucked in a corner by the window. Also 3 or 4 seats at a high counter for a total of maybe 24 in all. Part of the reason we found our lunch time visit enjoyable was that there were only six people inside and we had "elbow room" for seating. Also we appreciated that they left ample room behind the tables to be able to walk into and about the space. I realize that as it is discovered it will become very popular and I imagine seating will be harder to come by and we'll choose take out. LOCATION: Meridian's has many newer and poorly planned strip malls with tiny spaces and awkward parking lots. This is one of them. They are next door to the National Guard recruiter and a couple of doors down from a Mexican place that took over the old Biscuits & Hogs space. PARKING: There is a parking lot, but in this pick up trucks and SUV kind of community, the spaces seem pretty tightly spaced. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in from the narrow walkway and all on one floor. There is one 4 top that is useable by someone in a wheelchair, I tested this out myself, but I couldn't tell from looking at the 2 tops whether the cross bars on the bases would get in the way. There are two marked ADA parking spaces in the lot but for the lot size there should be three. One of them is van accessible but the access aisle seems perhaps too small for a ramp if you're using a van. (Meridian is a mess for ADA parking errors in lots even in these new strip malls and that is on the owner of the parking lot, not the restaurant owners.) read more

We went to Kiin Kiin for a work dinner. This place is small inside. The employees did a great job with our group and those coming in. We ordered Pad Thai with shrimp and Crab Fried Rice. Both dishes were amazing. My wife got spice level 1. She needed it to be spicier so the waitress brought her some hot sauce. Everyone in our large group loved their food. Two people ordered the KaPow crsipy chicken and it looked really good. We will definely be returning and ordering that along with the Crab Fried Rice. The Pad Thai was also really good and will order that again since we will becoming here often. We saw some with Thai iced tea and those looked amazing so we will be ordering that next time as well. Okay, I love the food here but I always get a bit prickled when I feel like I am being swindled out of my money. Their entree comes with steamed rice or you can get a side of rice for $4. I prefer steamed rice noodle instead of traditional rice. A side of steamed rice noodle is $4. OK, that seems reasonable. I ordered and told them I did not want the steamed rice but I wanted to have the rice noodle instead. They told me they would keep the rice but charge me the $4 for the side of noodles because they do not allow any substitutions!! What??? The rice and noodles are the same price, they are just trying to charge for the steamed rice with the entree and then charge again for the noodles. Yeah, it's only $4 but I don't like have my pocket picked. Honestly, if I asked for extra meat or veges I would understand an additional charge because you get more food. But to charge for switching rice for noodles when they charge the same price for the side leaves me feeling prickly about this place.........just let people choose rice or rice noodle with their entree.....now is that really that hard? read more

Visited Kiin Kiin for dinner with friends. We ate family style - trying the chicken satay; chicken yellow curry; crab fried rice; drunken noodles, and Bangkok Bay. Food was flavorful, not too spicy, but enough heat to bring a little sweat. The crab fried rice had real lump crab! Service was fast & friendly (we were among the first customers for dinner). Wow! First off, I really love Thai food and have eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants for 40 years including the iconic chef Tommy Tangs restaurants in both NYC and West Hollywood. I'm not only experienced at Thai food, I'm very particular about it being executed correctly. This restaurant is serving truly authentic Thai food with many of my favorites on the menu such as spicy eggplant, green curry, panang curry, papaya salad, pad krapow, Kai soi and many others. Each dish is carefully prepared and executed with fresh ingredients, beautifully presented and with all the notes Thai food hits; spicy, sour, salty, sweet, and creamy (or savory/umami). For being a newer restaurant they seem to be on the ball! The waitstaff and owner are very kind and appreciative, always welcoming us back like we are old friends. The space is quite small with very few tables and I think they'll be needing a larger location at some point in time. The spice level is on point! I usually have to order 5 stars at Thai restaurants and tell them to bring the tray of fresh chilies, chili sauce, etc... and it's still too mild. I know not everyone loves spicy but I order 4 stars at Kiin Kiin and it is perfect. No panang curry for me that tastes like coconut gravy! I highly recommend this restaurant. If you've had Thai food in California, New York, Seattle, London, Vancouver, Bangkok or other large cities with great Asian restaurants and think you cannot find one that matches in the treasure valley, try this place!
