    Shrimp papaya salad
    Dani S.

My girlfriend wanted to meet for lunch and she picked Be Thai. I'm so happy she picked this joint cause they have been on my to eat list for a while. I love trying new Thai restaurants in the valley. I wish I lived closer to this joint, I would have tried them out a long time ago. I remember this joint in the late 90's being Yen Ching. Then it changed into another Chinese restaurant after. This restaurant is in such a neat venue but it with time, it has slowed down a lot. This venue used to be buzzin back in the day. I will always have fond memories hanging out in this area. Grabbing dinner, playing at the arcade, grabbing coffee and of course watching the newest movies. I had finished my client early so I headed to the restaurant. I did arrive 45 minutes before our meet up time but I decided to head in. I was greeted by a my server. She told me to sit where I wanted so I grabbed a booth. There were a couple tables that she was dropping food off at before she dropped off some menus. No biggie, I looked at their menu online so I got to see what they all has. Since I was going to hang out for a minute, I ordered fried tofu and a lychee green tea to keep me company till my friend comes. The fried tofu was so good! They were crispy on the outside, perfectly fried golden. The inside was soft. It came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce that had peanuts i. it. All together was was the best bite! I was planning on saving half of the fried tofu for my friend but I ended up eating all of it, I couldn't resist. The lychee green tea was very good! It is on the sweeter side so I did water it down a bit. It ended up being just right. My friend showed up and we both got lunch ordered. I was still hungry even though I smashed all of the fried tofu. I was debating from the shrimp papaya salad or the fried chicken wings. They both sounded so good! I ended up going with the the green papaya salad with shrimp. I got it in mild. Thai people can eat the hell out of spicy food and I'm not that daring withThai peppers so I felt like mild would be safe spice level for me. My papaya salad was beautifullyplated! It was on a fresh lettuce leaf. Everything looked so clean and fresh. It had a nice amount of green beans in it. The shrimp on top looked plump. It was a hearty amount. The papaya was crunchy and flavorful. The green beans were also very crunchy. The shrimp was cooked just right! The only negative thing about the salad was the spice level. I did ask for mild but it was really spicy. I did talk to my server about it. She checked in the back to make sure it was mild. The chef said the Thai peppers they have in were spicier than normal. She was kind and took my salad back to the kitchen. They added more papaya salad to dull the spice down for me. It worked! It was much better and I didn't have to eat ice after every bite of it. I ate a much as I could but ended up packing more than half of it to take home. I'm happy I got to have lunch here today. The food was so good! So fresh! Our server was the sweetest and did such a great job taking care of us. Being in this area brought back so many fun memories. Be Thai has officially been marked off my to eat list and will now be placed on my come back list. I look forward to my next batch of papaya salad from this joint.

We stopped here on a whim. The food was amazing and the service was very generous. Would definitely recommend for delicious Thai food.

A Hidden Gem You Have to Try! We ordered the sweet and sour beef (incredible), spring rolls (so crispy and light), gyoza (perfectly pan-fried), sticky rice, and a dish I wish I could remember the name of something with "King" in it, but I promise it was next-level delicious. Every single item tasted unbelievably fresh and clearly made with pure, high-quality ingredients. You can feel the love in the food here. It's rare to find a place where everything hits the mark like this. I will 1000% be back, probably with more friends in tow so they can experience it too. If you're craving authentic, lovingly-made Thai food, this is your spot. Don't sleep on it!

Thai Fried Rice with tofu, Drunken Fried Rice with tofu

After recalling that my first takeout experience at Be Thai had been solid, I decided to give this establishment another go. They once again delivered. The online ordering process works well enough; when I arrived at the time indicated in the confirmation text, the contents were hot and just as I expected. Everyone loved the quality of the ingredients and their preparation, from the veggies to the various proteins (tofu, chicken, pork, and beef). Every dish was flavorful. Would highly recommend the Thai Fried Rice, as well as the Drunken Fried Rice. We got Massamun Curry and Green Curry. Also Pad Broccoli and Prik King. All were absolutely solid. As far as spice level, unless you really, really can't handle it, start at medium as a baseline. A perk of this place is that it is conveniently located, and parking is easy as well. Also, one of the main things I remembered about my first experience and that I observed yet again: The team seems truly enthusiastic about serving their customers. All in all, give this place a visit! They deserve it, and I bet you'll leave with a satisfied stomach.

I really liked this cute thai restaurant near my work. I visited during lunch hours to eat really quick and do some work at the same time. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The interior was clean. I only got to try the pad thai and iced coffee but it was not bad! The pad thai was given in double portions. It was very filling. The coffee was a little bit too sweet but I'll definitely ask to lessen the condensed milk or sugar next time :) I will come back and try more dishes when I visit the area for work! Excited to try more menu items.

I am always honest... so here it goes. My food pretty much sucked all around. I got the Tom Yum soup with shrimp and there was no taste as it should be. It tased like a tomato sour soup and no lemon grass flavor. Pad se ew with beef and the flavors are not there. Fried rice?? How can you screw that up? It is definitely the meats are way tough.. I will say the look's of everything was perfect but was missing all the taste. The panang curry was pretty good. And the only thing that was an absolute winner among many and was amazing is the crab Rangoon. The service is amazing and very friendly. The restaurant is clean and nice. My advice to the owner is if you want to stay alive in your business, you should improve the flavors and meat quality. Your presentation is great. I want to see this place succeed. I'll come back in a few months to see how it is.

Was in search of Thai food in the area and stumbled across Be Thai on yelp. The reviews were astounding, raving about the food quality and I wanted to see what it was about. What an amazing choice! We ordered the pad see ew with tofu, tom yum with pork, crispy chicken wings, and drunken fried rice with chicken. Everything was excellent!! The standouts were the tom yum soup and the chicken wings but honestly everything was sooo good. The flavors were all perfect and the spice added a nice kick. The service was so good. From the moment we entered we felt welcomed, everyone was very attentive, friendly and kind. The restaurant is so modern and clean. I truly enjoyed my experience here and can't wait to come back! Already eyeing the Thai tea and lychee tea for my next visit hehe

Stopped here on our way through Boise and gave this Thai restaurant a try. Located within the Boise Spectrum, a large outdoor mall, the restaurant is spacious and open with lots of natural lightning. The service was great. The people were welcoming and attentive. The food came out quick, they checked up on us frequently. Now to the food. The Rad Na was to soupy, the gravy needed a thicker consistency. My son order the Green Curry on the medium spice level, and it was too hot for him. I would recommend to order one spice level down from what you are used to. The duck and rice were great! Would return and try different dishes, if we are ever back in Boise.

Stopped by midweek for lunch. Practically empty, but not because of the quality or quantity of food. Large place that just started recently. Comfortable seating. It's always good to see Thai people eating at a Thai place. Plenty of parking in the back. 30 minute slots in front for takeout. High ceilings and hard surfaces make this a noisy place even for average levels of speaking. The first dish came to the table less than 5 minutes after ordering. Pork larb, max heat. It was kick ass spicy - delicious. Lots of flavor in this dish. The sliced cucumber was good to offset the heat. Portion size is good for 2-3 people. I have been to Thailand numerous times, and unless you have experience with really hot Thai food, do not ask for the hottest level here. They are serious. The other salad was Green Papaya max spicy. Zowee! It's way too spicy for the average Idahoan. This burn will last into the afternoon. A real test for heat lovers. Order this one as Mild and enjoy how Green Papaya is supposed to be without the funky shortcuts and substitutes that ruin most of the Treasure Valley Thai choices. Portion size is good for 2-3 people. Good looking lunch specials. Better get to this place before it gets too popular. It puts every other "Thai" place in the Treasure Valley to shame except Boise Thai Noodle on Chinden. Both of these places are owned and staffed by authentic Thai families. Sadly, it can't be said about the "other" Thai options. The service level was outstanding. They sense what to ask and how frequently. That is a dying skill in today's world. This is the easiest 5-star rating I ever gave .

Pad See Ew, wide noodles, pork and broccoli.
    John S.

Sisters Atiwan and Suchewin Songkamilin, born in Bangkok and most recently from San Francisco, have opened a charming restaurant in The Spectrum space formerly occupied by the dreadful Chinese restaurant Guang Zhou. There were already a couple of parties waiting for takeout when Kristy and I arrived shortly after they opened a 11 a.m. We were the restaurant's first eat-in customers on their opening day. We ordered a pot of hit tea, black oolong. I would have liked to see tea made from loose tea rather than teabags, but that seems to be the overwhelming experience in Boise. For food, we tried Pad See Ew, Pad Thai and pineapple fried rice. Each of the dishes were very good. I asked for the Pad See Ew, a Thai street food made with wide noodles with a soy-based sauce that coat pieces of pork and crisp broccoli, to be made spicy and it was. I'm guessing that's too much heat for a lot of Americans. Kristy declared the pad Thai very good as well. The pineapple fried rice was tasty and well-done. What would have taken it over the top is if they served it in a carved-out pineapple like they do in Thailand. Service was friendly and Atiwan Songkamilin came out to talk with us and see how we liked their dishes. The owners' mother and brother still live in Bangkok and they're using her recipes. Several of the noodle dishes use spaghetti, which may sound off but is authentic to Thailand. There are also several curries, including yellow, red, green and a roasted duck curry. This is a welcome addition to Boise.

    Khao Soi with tofu
    Joseph B.

I am always on the lookout for Khao Soi whenever looking for a new Thai restaurant to try. It's relatively rare to find, but when done right, it is one of the greatest dishes on the planet. The Khao Soi here is fantastic; one of the best that I've had in the US. It is the right level of spicy with a magnificent coconut based broth. Rich but not heavy. The service is certainly friendly, obliging, and quick. It is not rushed and you certainly do not feel rushed to get out the door. The atmosphere is a little bit bare. The minimalism may not be entirely welcoming, but I really couldn't care less when the food is this good.

The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, which gives it a cozy vibe, but it can feel a little tight and busy during peak hours, so it's not the best place for big groups unless you plan ahead. Get ready to tantalize your taste buds!…read more I visited this place on an early Sunday evening around 5 p.m. It wasn't too crowded, but it was bustling with DoorDash orders. I was introduced to this spot by DoorDash, and I was eager to try the restaurant for the fresh-cooked food experience. The hostess greeted me right away and showed me where to sit. Since I had walked over 2 miles to get here, I wanted to be seated rather than at one of the bar tables. If you're a fan of Thai food, this might just be your favorite place in Boise! It's got a nice vibe, and I noticed that the tables and chairs are cleaned after each visit. Everything is very clean and classy, even the restroom. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, but not too flashy. Fresh Spring Rolls with Shrimp 5/5 Spring mix, cucumber, carrot, cilantro, mint, rice noodles, and avocado wrapped in rice, served with peanut sauce or spicy Thai seafood sauce (add Shrimp for $2 extra). These are like a delicious, fresh, hand-held salad wrapped in rice paper. They're not fried, but fresh my favorite way to enjoy them. They also have Crispy Rolls, but I prefer the fresh ones. These are especially great on a hot summer day! They come with two dipping sauces: a peanut one and a lemony butter sauce. I know I'm different, but I like the lemony butter sauce instead of the peanut sauce. Pad See Ew 5/5 Stir-fried flat rice noodles with egg, carrot, broccoli in sweet black soy sauce, with your choice of meat. I tried it with seafood once and with veggies and beef another time. Always delish! Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) 3/5 Stir-fried flat rice noodles with green bean, bell pepper, Thai herbs, chilies, and basil, with your choice of meat. I've had mine with chicken, but this one's my least favorite because I thought some of the pieces were a bit too dry. I'm not sure what went wrong, but I didn't eat a few because they were tough. Since it was my second time, I didn't want to complain then, but maybe I should have mentioned it. Mistakes happen to everyone, so sorry for not bringing this up sooner. Slice of Cucumber Salad 16 oz 5/5 Thinly sliced cucumbers, red onions, and carrots, usually dressed in a light, sweet, and sour vinaigrette. This is a favorite of mine. To me a unique recipe! Fried Wings 5/5 Nice crispy, tender, and nicely fried chicken. Deep fried marinated Thai-style bone-in chicken wings served with sweet chili and sour sauce. So tender and juicy, yummy! Coconut Shrimp 5/5 Deep fried coconut shrimp served with spicy mayo sauce. Freshly made Sangria 5/5 Cold and delicious. The Game Changers: I appreciate that you can review your order before paying. I like the digital system, and what's more important, they ask for feedback right away. I think that's pretty cool and admirable. They want to know upfront if they've done anything that made you have a bad experience. I also like that they're linked up with Toast for loyalty reward points. Basically, for every dollar you spend, you can get a reward. I really think this is a great feature that the restaurant has that I haven't seen anyone comment on, but to me, it's a great benefit for the customer. Don't worry if you don't have a Toast account; I believe you can get one at their checkout process by providing your phone number. I already had a Toast account, so I might be mistaken. Just ask at checkout, and they will explain to you. They sanitize the tables after each use. They have chopsticks. The owners are from Thailand, and they have a great kitchen staff. The kitchen team includes Chef Wan and Chef Pronyanee. Chef Wan and Chef Pronyanee come from the northern province of Thailand. Chef Pitsy (Owner) is also from the northern province of Thailand. The restrooms are super clean. So customers and staff can wash their hands and keep the place as germ free as possible. I have gone to the restaurant three times so far and I think it's the one of if not the best Thai restaurant in Boise!
