Placed a large to-go order here for a party with friends. We got multiple dishes, including the pad see-ew, pad pik, drunken noodles, fried rice, and more, all with varying spice levels. All the food was great and it was definitely some some of the best Thai food I've had in the area. The wait time was very reasonable considering the larger order size. Our previous favorite Thai restaurant, Siam Spicy, is now gone. Saw this one pop up and thought we would give it a try for carryout. Online ordering was easy and straightforward. Left right after I place my order and it was sitting on the counter when I arrived 15 minutes later. Staff was friendly. Food was great! Wonderfully crisp spring roll and our fried rice was perfect. In my experience spice level is not so predictable at any Thai restaurant. We ordered mild and it was, IMO, mild+. This will be our go to Thai take out going forward. I was in town visiting a friend and we decided to give this new place a try. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. We did not call ahead but sat there and chatted. There is a small bar where you can sit and eat. The pad Thai was excellent as well as the soup my companion ordered. I ate this over 3 meals! By far the best pad Thai I've had in the area. Writing this as I'm eating in the restaurant. Ordered crab cheese and drunken noodle with beef. Food is delicious. The crab cheese is so good, extra creamy cream cheese with a thick tangy sauce and perfectly fried. The drunken noodle is super saucy and very good. I was supposed to stop eating and save some for later but I keep taking more bites as I write this lol. The lady working the register is so kind and attentive. I spoke with her and she says a lot of people still don't know they are here so please support them give them a try! Thai 101 is located in a small unassuming storefront off Woodward near 14 mile. The first thing that hits you upon walking in is that it smells fantastic. (A good first sign....) The owner was behind the counter and she was both engaging and helpful. When we ordered the spice level at "medium"- she cautioned that their version of medium was, in fact quite hot. This was the second "good sign" as authentic Thai can be quite spicy. We ordered the Pad Thai with chicken, the drunken noodles with chicken and the crispy tofu. We were not disappointed! Both dishes were very generous in size and had equally generous portions of protein. The vegetables were super fresh and cooked to be tender, but still with a snap. The pad Thai sauce was sticky, sweet and flavorful. The drunken noodle sauce was rich, thick and savory and had just the right amount of Thai basil. So, bottom line - next time you have a hankering for some really solid Thai food - try Thai 101. read more

We ordered for take out. Pad Thai, Thai Basil fried rice and green curry. I have had my fare share of bad food, but this take the cream and the cherry. This is so bad, it made me come out of my hiatus from writing reviews. Where do I start. The chicken pad Thai. Well I would call it a Frozen chicken with yellow water and sprinkled with some expired fish sauce smell. The smell was so bad we had to throw it away without even tasting. Next up the so called famous Thai Basil fried rice. Thai Basil was no where to be found. Chicken was well it tasted like it was thawed out and sitting on the counter for couple of days. Rice was extremely salty. And who on earth puts large chunks of green bell peppers in fried rice!!! Finally the Green curry. Where is the rich thick coconut broth ? Did it disappear? Instead what we had was water mixed with store bought green curry paste off the can. Complete disappointment. And above all for these three dishes we got charged with $55. If you have the lowest expectation on what thai food look, taste and smell like you are welcome to try this place. I'm really curious why others on this forum not just like love the place. Generous portion. Pad Thai was below average. No flavor, just super sweet with chili flakes added. Could have used more acidity, umami. Noodles were mushy and were way over sauced. Really disappointing food! Spring rolls were thick and the sauce seemed like pure honey. Soup was too salty. Both stir fry entrees were horrible with mostly big chunks of green pepper, omitting other vegetables. The tofu was in big chunks and had a bad texture. On top of this, they charge a "convenience fee" that's not disclosed until your order is done. Plus it's as expensive as nice full-sevice Thai. AVOID!!!!! read more

I think the name is fitting, as they do the basics right! As a Thai American, I am very picky about Thai food. I have been three times thus far, and each time the food is consistently delicious! The pad thai tastes like what I eat in Bangkok. The fried rice tastes like the canteen at my old school in Bangkok. This is my new weekly rotation! read more
