Best Thai food I've had in Metro Detroit. Every dish was packed with flavor and exceeded expectations. I actually discovered this place through DoorDash and was genuinely surprised by the quality of the food. I can't really comment on the service or ambiance since I've only ordered delivery, but the food alone has made me a repeat customer. Delivery is usually a bit slow, though I don't think that's the restaurant's fault given the distance from my hotel. Saab Sis is a hidden gem. It is one of the better Thai restaurants in the metro Detroit area. Each dish was packed with flavor. Be careful with the spice level, one taste of the spiciest level was enough to drink an entire glass of water. The soup with hand made noodles and chicken that fell apart was by far the best dish. I think we may have found the best Thai food in Michigan and my husband and I don't have to drive all the way to Chi for good Thai food anymore. We ordered so many dishes cause we want to have leftover too, and the portion here is big. We ended up with fried chicken, pad thai with chicken, pad see ew with beef, peanut curry with chicken, crab fried rice, tom yum soup with seafood. Everything is so good and authentic. The pad see ew is a little too sweet for us, but the flavor is still good. The spice level here is not joking and we do Mild+ for most of our dishes, which is like medium level at other place. Thai tea is very authentic and you can ask for less sweet too. Service is very friendly and the window table decoration is so cute. The food is great, but oh man they're not playing around with the spice levels. I did get hot (not Thai hot), and it's enough to bring a bit of sweat, which I love. It's not enough to mute the flavor, but it's strong and it lingers on your lips. I ordered shrimp, fully expecting to be screwed on the number of shrimp(a recurring theme in my life) - But there was a decent number, and when I chopped them up enough to work for the dish. Had such a wonderful lunch date with my husband at this Thai restaurant. The ambiance was warm, relaxing, and perfect for catching up over a great meal. The food was excellent -- we tried the red curry and the pineapple fried rice served inside an actual pineapple, which was both beautiful and delicious. Yum! I was so excited to find Saab Sis Thai. I moved back to Detroit in 2024 after living in Houston for 20 years, so I was anxious to find my local Thai spot. Our waitstaff didn't come to us too often and it took a hour for our food to come to the table. I had to repay for parking. It's a small restaurant also, but that's common for the area. There's many things on the menu and the prices aren't bad. Portions are pretty decent too. The pad Thai was very very sweet. The sweetest I have ever tasted and I didn't like the very thin noodles. The drunken noodle was good and had a better taste. The red curry (I didn't try but the table did) was ok. The dumplings tasted like the ones I buy at the store if I'm being honest. We came here on a Saturday evening without a reservation, we were told we needed to wait for 45 minutes. We waited for an hour before we got our table. It is a small restaurant space, and they have packed the tables very efficiently in this space. They seem short on manpower; many tables became available from time to time, but they needed a long time to clean them up. I feel like I haven't been to a place this busy in a while. There is usually enough seating available even though the space is not very large, and I really like how well lit the restaurant is and how you can easily converse inside. It has a very cute aesthetic with window seats for 2. The service is solid. The waitresses are always very nice and attentive. We waited 50 minutes for our pick up order (which is fine), my husband walks in to pick it up and they were supposedly just packing it up, but we get the food home (2 blocks away) and it's so cold we have to reheat it ourselves. I don't know if they're having an off night or something, but the food was so bad no one finished their meal. The spring rolls taste like coleslaw, the pad Thai has zero flavor and it smells like wet hay, and the wonton soup tasted like chicken water. I honestly can't believe how terrible it was. Saab Sis Thai is one of my regular spots in Royal Oak. I went back and got the spring rolls and pad kaprao with beef. The spring rolls were crispy and fresh, and the sauce was solid. The pad kaprao had great flavor with good garlic and basil, but I asked for it spicy and it didn't have much heat. Still tasty, just needed more of a kick. Sadly, the love affair with this place is over. Last three orders, all have paid more for extra chicken. So that's an order like Chicken Pad Prik plus $2 more for "extra" chicken. There has been maybe 4 or 5 little pieces of chicken in them. That's not even sufficient for a regular chicken dish let alone paying extra for more. Incredible food. We took friends who had just come back from visiting Thailand here and they said it reminded them of the trip! I think it's run by two sisters and they do a great job. Arrival time around 430-5pm, the restaurant is in a little shopping area below ground level which is interesting. The inside is nicely decorated but it's small. The tables for 2 are tiny so if you order a bunch of food be ready to try and play Tetris with the plates. The staff was nice they asked if we had reservations which we didn't but they got us in quickly, it did take a few minutes to get our order roughly 5-10 mins. My GF ordered Pad Thai I ordered Massaman Curry with Chicken. My GFs dish was good, my curry dish was good WITH the exception of hard potato's all of them were hard not full cooked. Everything else was cooked fine. The waitress asked if I wanted to have it re cooked, unfortunately we didn't have the time to wait. Vibes of the restaurant was nice and cutely decorated for Valentine's Day. My biggest issue was our wait time for our food. Another friend happened to go there the same time as us and also had the same problem. We waited 55 minutes until we received appetizers and then another 28 minutes before we received our entrees. I understand how busy they were, but regardless I l found the wait to be too long. We got chive pancakes and Rangoons as our appetizers as our mains and while the pancakes were mediocre and only saved by the sauce it comes with, the Rangoons were excellent in my opinion. Of the entrees, my family thought my pad see ew was a little too salty but everyone's taste and preference is different. The highlight of the night was the pineapple fried rice which I really enjoyed and think had a unique flavor.
