It's not enough to mute the flavor, but it's strong and it lingers on your lips. We waited 50 minutes for our pick up order (which is fine), my husband walks in to pick it up and they were supposedly just packing it up, but we get the food home (2 blocks away) and it's so cold we have to reheat it ourselves. I don't know if they're having an off night or something, but the food was so bad no one finished their meal. The spring rolls taste like coleslaw, the pad Thai has zero flavor and it smells like wet hay, and the wonton soup tasted like chicken water. I honestly can't believe how terrible it was. My MIL said the curry was good (that's why I gave 2 stars), but she asked for no spice and it was quite the opposite so she couldn't eat much. There is usually enough seating available even though the space is not very large, and I really like how well lit the restaurant is and how you can easily converse inside. It has a very cute aesthetic with window seats for 2. The service is solid. The waitresses are always very nice and attentive. The happy hour special includes either fried rice or pad thai with any beverage of choice. The serving sizes are generous, and the food is excellent. Had such a wonderful lunch date with my husband at this Thai restaurant. The ambiance was warm, relaxing, and perfect for catching up over a great meal. The food was excellent -- we tried the red curry and the pineapple fried rice served inside an actual pineapple, which was both beautiful and delicious. Yum! Personally I wasn't a fan of this Thai restaurant. It's very pretty and has a nice atmosphere. The food was not my style of traditional Thai food that I grew up eating. Our waitstaff didn't come to us too often and it took a hour for our food to come to the table. I had to repay for parking. It's a small restaurant also, but that's common for the area. There's many things on the menu and the prices aren't bad. Portions are pretty decent too. The pad Thai was very very sweet. The sweetest I have ever tasted and I didn't like the very thin noodles. The drunken noodle was good and had a better taste. The red curry (I didn't try but the table did) was ok. The dumplings tasted like the ones I buy at the store if I'm being honest. We came here on a Saturday evening without a reservation, we were told we needed to wait for 45 minutes. We waited for an hour before we got our table. It is a small restaurant space, and they have packed the tables very efficiently in this space. They seem short on manpower; many tables became available from time to time, but they needed a long time to clean them up. I feel like I haven't been to a place this busy in a while. Tom Yum soup is so good. It was spicier than I expected, and my stomach was burning afterwards (but so worth it lol). My first time trying Pad Kaprao, I liked it. The green curry was excellent! Saab Sis Thai is one of my regular spots in Royal Oak. I went back and got the spring rolls and pad kaprao with beef. The spring rolls were crispy and fresh, and the sauce was solid. The pad kaprao had great flavor with good garlic and basil, but I asked for it spicy and it didn't have much heat. Still tasty, just needed more of a kick. Incredible food. We took friends who had just come back from visiting Thailand here and they said it reminded them of the trip! I think it's run by two sisters and they do a great job. I usually either get chicken or beef but last time I was here, I tried some of my friend's tofu pad thai and couldn't stop thinking about it so I got tofu this time. Arrival time around 430-5pm, the restaurant is in a little shopping area below ground level which is interesting. The inside is nicely decorated but it's small. The tables for 2 are tiny so if you order a bunch of food be ready to try and play Tetris with the plates. The staff was nice they asked if we had reservations which we didn't but they got us in quickly, it did take a few minutes to get our order roughly 5-10 mins. My GF ordered Pad Thai I ordered Massaman Curry with Chicken. My GFs dish was good, my curry dish was good WITH the exception of hard potato's all of them were hard not full cooked. Everything else was cooked fine. The waitress asked if I wanted to have it re cooked, unfortunately we didn't have the time to wait. The noddles were on the thin side, (just a difference), but they were good. Their Tom Kar soup was good too with tasty and large shrimp. It's cute inside and the service was good too. If you plan to come here on a Friday or Saturday night especially, call ahead and make a reservation. Our reservation was at 7pm on a Friday night and the place was completely packed. Vibes of the restaurant was nice and cutely decorated for Valentine's Day. My biggest issue was our wait time for our food. Another friend happened to go there the same time as us and also had the same problem. We waited 55 minutes until we received appetizers and then another 28 minutes before we received our entrees. I understand how busy they were, but regardless I l found the wait to be too long. We got chive pancakes and Rangoons as our appetizers as our mains and while the pancakes were mediocre and only saved by the sauce it comes with, the Rangoons were excellent in my opinion. Of the entrees, my family thought my pad see ew was a little too salty but everyone's taste and preference is different. The highlight of the night was the pineapple fried rice which I really enjoyed and think had a unique flavor. Overall, I decent place I think worth trying once, would definitely be cautious if you're looking for somewhere to dine-in and get your food quickly (try to avoid rush hour). read more

If you're looking for a restaurant where you can make a reservation a week in advance only to be treated like an unwanted last-minute walk-in, look no further. This place has it all: tiny chairs, nonexistent customer service, and a manager with all the warmth of a parking ticket. I made a reservation for a special family dinner--five (small-average sized) adults, including my pregnant cousin--and was shocked when we were led to a table with four normal chairs and one sad little folding chair that looked like it was borrowed from someone's garage sale. I wouldn't have put my handbag on it, let alone expected a pregnant woman to sit there. When I calmly and kindly told the server we physically could not fit at the table (you know, basic spatial reality), she blinked at me like I'd asked her to solve a math equation and said, "It'll be fine." Oh? Will it? Because unless the laws of physics have changed, my thigh couldn't even fit between our table and the one next to us (see photo). But sure, totally fine. After a painfully awkward standoff, we were "allowed" to move tables--how generous. But just as we thought the discomfort was over, the manager stormed over like she was auditioning for the role of 'Restaurant Villain of the Year' and started arguing with me in front of the entire dining room. Loudly. Publicly. Embarrassingly. I finally asked, "Do you want us to just leave and go somewhere else?" and she didn't even hesitate: "Yes." Honestly? The sheer audacity. No apology, no accountability, just pure, unfiltered hostility. But here's the part that really left a sour taste: as we walked out, I couldn't help but notice other tables being treated with smiles, comfort, and space to breathe. Funny--we didn't seem to get any of that. And let's just say, we didn't exactly look like everyone else in the room. So yes, it felt racist. And if it wasn't, then it was Oscar-worthy impersonation of how racism plays out in real life: subtly, publicly, and with a forced smile hiding a whole lot of ugly. Bottom line? This place doesn't deserve your time, your money, or your tolerance. I wouldn't go back if they offered me a free five-course meal and a proper chair. Hard pass. read more
