It's time for an update... we continue to frequent this Thai restaurant. They are so so good. And always open when we have a craving (see other my other Thai review). I love this place, the staff is always so friendly and have often popped out with my take out to my car. I've come too early before and they've offered to let me sit in my car and they'd bring it out to me when I'm ready. That's service! The food is always fresh and flavorful. We love the pad Thai with tofu for the kids and we go back and forth with curries and noodle dishes ourselves. Spice level here is standard and you can get it on the side if you're so inclined which is nice to amp it up on your own terms. Crab rangoons are still the best here with the green onion really perking up the cream cheese inside. Can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The community know about this place now so wait times are a little closer to 25-30 min during peak dinner times so plan accordingly for take out. They do have a small indoor seating area with a couple tables and bar seating but this is mostly a take out restaurant. Enjoy! read more

I'd like to start with whom I can presume is the owner(she works the front of the counter); though I never had a pleasure to get her name she is a very lovely person to be around even if for a second, she made me feel like family. While personally looking out for my nut allergy, which is what I always desired. A great Thai restaurant that is accommodating to their customers. The food never fails to be exactly what I ask for and delicious. Though I never had the luxury of eating inside the restaurant I can confidently say it wouldn't be bad experience. One small table and 6 window counter seats and that's about it. The counter by the window is small, just enough for a plates Mostly a carry out spot. Ordered appetizer sampler, and tom yum soup, pad Thai, chicken and steamed tofu and veggies, extra hot, Thai basil with chicken and added mushrooms, medium spicy. $58.10 The chicken dumpling and the crab wonton are all cold, what in the world! The second try of the chicken dumplings were warmer and not bad. The crab cheese wonton is so-so, the cheese is not cream cheesy as expected, not sure if there is something else in there. Hardly any crab at all. The plum sauce is like a syrup, runny and super sticky and oh so messy. The Thai sauce and the basil sauce are both quite sweet too. The pad basil is good, good heat, lots of green peppers and carrots. The chicken is overcooked, it's a good thing it's swimming in sauce then. The tom yum soup was good, quite spicy for medium spice. Service is very good here, super warm, friendly and really want to give you a good experience. read more

Thai 101 is my go-to take out spot - but the space itself is adorable, quaint and would be great to sit down and enjoy a bite to eat. The staff is always friendly, the food (especially pad kee mow) is some of my favorite Thai, and great spice level options and packed with flavor. Typically for one entree and a small dish or app you're looking at 20-25, but I usually have two meals out of it. Can't recommend enough! read more

I read the reviews before trying this Thai restaurant. And they did not disappoint. The food was freaking awesome and yes, the lady at the front desk is very friendly and welcoming. I had the garlic fried rice at medium and it was just right. I had shrimp added to it and there was definitely enough. My boyfriend had the pad Thai veggies only and it was even better than my rice. I'm still craving and can't wait to have it again. You definitely won't be disappointed if you go to Thai 101. I'm still so excited because it's close to my home and whenever the taste hits me, I can just go around the corner pretty much and get it. It is a must try. read more

I am always looking for good Thai food nearby, so I was happy to try out Thai 101 to get my Thai food fix. There are a few small tables inside, so probably more of a takeout situation for most people. I met the owner and her children, and they were a so nice. I love supporting a family business! We were serving 5 people with soup, apps, a curry, a stir fry and a noodle dish. We had plenty of food and things were packed perfectly to travel well. We ordered medium, which was the perfect spice level for us, but I would get mild + if we were ordering for guests though. Everything was great and made in-house. We live near by and go here all the time ( at least 30 times so far) 3 people including a vegetarian can always find something good. The owner who runs the place is such a sweet hard working person. Our new favorite place for thai food. I've been there couple of times already. Very friendly service, reasonable price and huge portions. It's also pretty quick. From placing an order at the counter to getting very hot boxes took about 10 minutes. It's not really a place to eat inside, they have a long counter with chairs, Sriracha sauces, napkins and hand sanitizer so you definetly could eat there but I think it's mostly takeout. Food is very good, large portion and they put a lot of protein of choice. Will definetly be back for more. read more

This place would fall into the category of places that I've driven by a million times but never really considered going to until my wife asked me to pick up dinner on a rainy Friday night. It is strictly a takeout place, but when it comes to Asian food, that works for me. We decided to try a variety of things that we usually like to see how they compared to our favorite places. We started with the crab cheese and the potstickers. The crab cheese was pretty good, but the potstickers were average, at best. We also had the fried rice, the peanut noodle and the Thai 101 chicken. The fried rice was average, the peanut noodle was quite good, and the chicken had a good flavor to it. Called in a carry out order and the lady at the front was such a sweetheart! It's a super small takeout restaurant. The order was ready before they said and she even gave me extra spice just in case the mild+ was not spicy enough! I like that they put the crushed peanuts in a separate container, I'm guessing in case there is a peanut allergy. Based on service alone, I believe this place deserves 5 stars. The service was great and the woman that took my order was very very sweet. However, the food was so bland. I was very disappointed to see how flavorless my food looked. The chicken wasn't seasoned, the rice was not seasoned. It didn't even look like they put any type of soy sauce in it. I'm always on the lookout for new Thai restaurants and Thai 101 recently came up on my Yelp search. This is a small carry out restaurant along the Woodward corridor. They do have a small counter with ~5 high top chairs if you need to eat there. When trying new Thai places, I like to compare Pad Sad Ew. I think the brown sauce was above average-- a little more complex in flavor and a tiny sweeter compared to the Pad Sad Ew of Saab Sis Thai and SHINthai. Unfortunately the broccoli:noodle ratio was definitely lacking so if you're a fan of veggies like me, I'd recommend asking for double broccoli. I also think I prefer the egg noodles at Saab Sis Thai, the ones from Thai 101 aren't as wide or chewy. They did include a generous amount of tofu which was nice! In true Thai cuisine fashion, they take their spice level seriously. The options include no spice, mild, mild+, medium, medium+, hot, and extra hot. Overall, I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu! read more

So fresh and delicious. We ordered the green curry with broccoli and peppers -- medium spice and the pad Thai medium spice both with chicken. Absolutely fantastic. The establishment is squeaky clean and the service is fast. We got our food to go but we waited in the restaurant for our food and absolutely were amazed at how clean this restaurant is. Ordered Chicken Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle with Veggies. Pad Thai had a sweet then very tart vinegar twang too it. Never tasted pad Thai like this almost too powerful makes you gag. Just not good. Drunken Noodle was a savory and sweet take. The veggies were minimal but focus was on green peppers... Best part the food was quick and very hot as carry out goes. Came out of Yelp retirement to write a quick note. Not trying to be an a-hole, but the dishes were unlike any Thai food I've had, not in a great way. The Peanut Noodle with Tofu was sickeningly sweet; I couldn't eat it, even after trying to doctor the sauce. The Pad Seew was "okay, a bit off, maybe too sour". The shrimp rolls tasted like there was some other meat besides seafood in it (maybe a pork mixture alongside shrimp, which I didn't see any indication of in the description, so as a pescatarian, i didn't eat more than a few bites around things. Not confirmed, but didn't taste like just shrimp and was brown/gray.) I ordered through the "order now" button on Yelp, and it led to a screen that said it was fulfilled by Grubhub. Went to pick up, and turns out the restaurant doesn't receive GrubHub orders until we show up at the restaurant, so waited another 10 min (which is pretty fast, but a bummer about the Yelp app. Not the restaurant's fault, though.) Go directly to the website ordering and not Yelp/GrubHub menu if you want to give this a try still. Sorry, only coming on this app to complain these days. Must be the old age. We got the hot and sour soup, crab rangoons, chicken pad seew, and chicken garlic fried rice. The inside is nice but it's for sure carryout focused as it's super small and just a couple tables. The second we walked in we were greeted by a wonderful and kind woman. she instructed and helped us choose what spice level we wanted and also gave us bags of the spice they keep on the table to take home. What a satisfying stop for lunch. I usually take photos of my food but my Drunken Noodles with beef looked so good that I dug in immediately and forgot to snap a pic. I also got the Thai iced tea and Tom yum soup with shrimp. All medium spicy to give a kick. Service was excellent! The owner was very attentive and welcoming. The place is small, with only a short counter seating by the window. There is enough room for about 8 or so people. Most of their orders seem to be pickup. The food was DELICIOUS and the "hot" had good flavour and everything was fresh and delicious. We were visiting in the area and decided to try carry out for family of four. We used the app on Yelp (serviced by GrubHub) to order online late on Saturday evening. The order was ready for pickup in under 20 minutes. The lady who greeted me was super kind and offered to help me carry the food to the car, making sure to warn me about the liquids from the entrees that might spill. When I arrived home the food was still very hot and fresh. I ordered the Pad Thai Curry (Hot) w/ chicken and was just perfect on the spice level. We also ordered Pad Thai (Mild) w/ chicken, steamed vegetables, four spring rolls, and Pad Pak. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees and said the spring rolls were the best! Tried this place today for the first time. I love Thai food so I like to try new restaurants often. I got the appetizer sampler & some chicken pad Thai. Everything was so delicious & you get a great portion size. All the appetizers offered were cooked to perfection & the sweet sauce served along side them was so unique & delicious! Pad Thai was simple yet very flavorful. The inside of the restaurant smelled so good I couldn't wait to try it! They did not disappoint.
