I arrived right before the lunch rush, which is good as they got very busy. I was seated immediately, and my order was taken right away. It seemed like they had a very small, but hard hustling staff. The gentleman who took my order was equal parts friendly and efficient. The restaurant seems to have a good amount of regulars from what I observed. My order came out amazingly quickly. I had shrimp fresh rolls, and my sliced beef pho came out just as I was finishing. I thought the fresh rolls were standard good, though maybe wrapped better than other places as I had no issues with the roll falling apart (as has happened elsewhere). The pho was wonderful, and just what my sinus needed. The beef was far less fatty than I've had elsewhere, but I also found it to be a bit overdone. Stopped by here for the first time to try the pho. Service was great and seemingly a pretty popular spot so don't be surprised if you gotta wait for a quick minute for an open table during lunchtime. Like most other similar restaurants, Que Huong is a casual spot you can stop by with family or friends for any occasion. I ended up ordering #8 if I recall correctly. TLDR: This place is a decent spot to stop by, though the food has a sense of stinginess. The atmosphere of the restaurant reminded me of the many mom and pop Vietnamese restaurants I have been to. The service was fine. For my meal, I ordered the Phở Đặc Biệt (Special Pho), the Bì Cuốn (Shredded Pork Skin Rolls), and the Sầu Riêng (Durian) smoothie. The durian smoothie was the first thing to come out, and it was the best part of the meal. The smoothie was a refreshing drink that I would recommend to those who can handle the strong durian aroma and flavor. The bì cuốn left me a little disappointed. The rolls were mostly filled with vermicelli, with only a thin layer for the pork itself. This is the start of what I mean by the stinginess I mentioned earlier. Though the rolls did come with a spicy fish sauce containing đồ chua (picked radish and carrots), I could not taste the pork at all when not dipping the roll in the sauce. Sure, the rolls were meant to be dipped and eaten, but normally bì by itself is already very flavorful. These rolls were not flavorful as a result of the lack of bì. The phở has some of the same stinginess as well, even though I ordered a regular sized bowl. It did come as advertised with each individual meat mentioned on the menu (sliced beef, flank, etc.) but the portion of each individual meat was less than a spoonful. Even the singular beef ball was cut into three pieces to make it seem as if it was more. The two sprigs of thai basil that came with it and the hefty amount of bean sprouts left a poor impression. That is on the low end of thai basil restaurants usually provide, and bean sprouts are incredibly cheap to source. The broth tasted average, which did not help the dish's case. I would come back and maybe try the other dishes while ordering another smoothie, but I don't have high hopes that the quality would be much better. read more

Usually I start off with eating the food. However, the service at this spot is what makes it a top spot for me! The waitress knew every single item and what to recommend for us to eat. She asked us questions to make sure her recommendations were relevant to us. She made sure we enjoyed our dishes. Our pho was served by a man whose face appears in dictionary examples under the word "cool" and he brought the bowl accompanied with a plate piled high of very fresh mint, basil & bean sprouts. I tasted the broth as it was and my taste buds exploded. THIS was pho - rich, full bodied pho. This pho could not have been prepared by a professionally trained chef. I haven't been back for a long time (last time was definitely before COVID) but I finally stopped by with my family this past Sunday for lunch. Somehow, all 10 of us were able to fit during 11 AM. PHO DAC BIET - 13.50 They have a variety of sizes, but their default is medium. The broth was light and the only flavors I could taste was salt and MSG. I couldn't really taste the beef or beef bone in this broth and the noodles were on the soggier side. My cousin also didn't think the noodles soaked up the broth very well. I felt like the brisket and flank were pretty tough. Overall, it was very mediocre. It was definitely better in the day and I hate to give it a 3/5. I've tried every pho restaurant from San Diego to LA, a few different places in NYC and south Florida... and quite literally every pho restaurant in metro Detroit.... QUE HUONG is hand's down my favorite place in the world. The secret is in their broth I guess, I've never had pho broth so fragrant and delicious and packed with umami.. I've learned to also not add the bean sprouts (even though I LOVE them) because it alters the flavor of the broth. Instead, after I fill my spoon with noodle, broth and scallions, i add the bean sprout (from a separate plate) on top of my spoonful. The service is always fast and the owners are super cool and friendly. It's a small place, but it's always bustling with people. This was our first time here. We came on a Saturday evening close to 7pm. Although the place was packed with people we only waited like 5 minutes to be seated. This place is a hole in the wall, family owned restaurant. The food is authentic, delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Service was quick and our server was great. We ordered spring rolls, the peanut sauce was too watered down to my liking. I've always had it creamy at other places and prefer it that way. Que Huong is a small restaurant, with less than a dozen tables all crammed close together so there's barely enough room to move the chairs. As you walk though the entrance, you can catch a glimpse through the doorway of the kitchen, with huge stockpots on the stove boiling away. One of the walls is lined with photos of menu items, and a small television plays on mute. The menus themselves are found underneath the glass topper at each table. On our recent visit, the clientele seemed to be mostly non-Vietnamese, which is a bit different from the other Vietnamese restaurants we've been to in the area. The restaurant was about half full of people slurping away on their piping hot bowls of noodles. We ordered two noodle soups: #8 Pho Dac Biet ($13.50) - The standard size is hefty. The broth is aromatic, which you can boost further with the thai basil offered on the side. As typical of pho, you can further customize with the standard plate of sliced jalapenos, bean sprouts, lime, and shredded cabbage. The bowl arrives piping hot, which helps soften whichever vegetables you add in. The noodles are appropriately cooked - you just need to make sure to eat them fast before they start to become mushy as they soak up more of the liquid. In terms of meat, there is some thinly sliced raw beef added in before serving. It gets cooked in the residual heat of the broth, but still retains some pink portions because the broth isn't quite hot enough to fully cook it well done. The color of the beef is a bit puzzling; it seemed a bit too light and pasty colored, rather than the darker brown we expected to see. We actually thought they had accidentally added pork at first. In addition to the sliced brisket, there are thin shreds of tripe, slices of shank, small pieces of tendon, and halved beef meatballs. Some of the meat was quite tough, especially the shank, some of the brisket, and several pieces of the tripe. #39 Bun Bo Hue ($13.50) - The broth is pretty rich, with a lemongrassy and herbal flavor that hits your tongue first, followed by the rich msg/bone base, and finally a bit of spice last that rounds out each sip. The soup is by far the best part of the dish - unfortunately things fall apart quickly from there. The rice noodles are very undercooked, resulting in a firm texture that in the middle almost seems to be raw. Some of the the meat quality in this dish is also questionable. The pork knuckle is fine - good porky flavor, cartilaginous, a bit tough in the meaty portions. There are are couple of slices of chả lụa which is pretty standard. I don't particularly like pork blood and I won't comment on that. The main problem is, like the pho, I found the sliced beef shank to be way too tough for that cut of meat. This is an indication that it isn't stewed long enough to break down all the connective tissue. Que Huong has a great broth base, but unfortunately the ingredients they add into that broth don't match up as well. I think overall the food that we had was just okay. read more

Had #10 pho with sliced beef. I ordered extra broth because I had already made a meat dish at home and this was going to be a small side soup for two. Extra broth (quart) was 5$. Takeout. The pho was everything i could ask for - comforting, fragrant, light yet flavorful, contained a good mixture of veggies. Noodles nice and chewy. We actually didn't even have the other quart of pho b/c one was enough given I made ribs at home. You didn't need to add anything extra such as sriracha or hoisin to the pho. It was that good by itself. Takeout containers were well secured to prevent leakage despite falling over couple times in car. It stayed hot and was steamy even after 45 min post pickup and didn't require rewarming. They were busy but on time for my order.
