First visit here at Gao, and I loved it. Aesthetic, clean, and casual vibes indoors. I have been searching for a pho dish that leaves me happy, and Gao did exactly that. Broth was wonderful, rich, and had a generous serving of meats. Pickled onions came as a side dish which I appreciated as a palate cleanser in a way. Fresh spring rolls were also fantastic with the peanut sauce the way I like it! Service was great and extremely accommodating. I know I've only been saying very positive comments within this review but in all honesty, I was very happy with my visit here. It will be my go-to Vietnamese restaurant. Of note, it does seem to get fairly busy during dinner hours fyi.

10 out of 10....no notes (ok one note later in the review) On my first visit, the restaurant was packed at 11 am on a weekday and i knew it was going to be good. Service is prompt, gracious, welcoming. The vietnamese ube latte was the best coffee drink I have ever had. I love that the default for all of their various vietnamese coffee beverages is iced. They were nice enough to sub tofu in the fresh rolls appetizer (usually comes with shrimp) and the peanut dipping sauce was so flavorful. The vermicelli bowl had lots of fresh cilantro and basil. They serve it with scissors for noodle cutting! I felt it could have used more veggies and less noodles, but I can't even be mad about it. I cannot wait to return.

Love the Vietnamese egg coffee and they have a lot more to choose from. Well lighted and clean. Staff friendly and very knowledgeable with cuisine. Looking forward to my next visit and try their garlic prawn noodles.

The wall of faces looks very much like the Korean character faces to me on the side wall. Eerily similar. Lots of Lunar New Year decor inside. It's nice inside. It's newer and looks clean. We shall see how this place compares to some of my preferred Vietnamese spots between John R and Dequindre road. My table was a bit dirty. Good thing there is hot tea to clean my side of the table. The fresh rolls are made with either pork or shrimp, I don't eat either. No apps for me. Other veggie or chicken options would be good, since they have chicken. I got pot of Jasmine green tea, a build my own vermicelli bowl with double chicken vermicelli bowl with an egg roll. $16.96 The tea is a bit weak, but there's only one tea bag for the pot. It's ok. Very light flavor of green tea. It's a decent sized dining area. The chicken is tender and slightly seasoned and grilled nicely. The egg rolls are thin, but super crunchy. They are decent. The vermicelli noodles are what you would expect. It's filler food. Do try the chili sauce, it's got some heat that burns at the back of your mouth and the heat, it builds up too. Added some sriracha and some chili to the chicken vermicelli to give it more flavor than the fish sauce. Service is very good.

One of the new Vietnamese restaurants around Madison Heights. The soup was very rich and plavorful. Service was top notched. Ambiance was homie and welcoming feelings. Definitely a go to place for everyone. Both young and old.

Overall, a really nice place. The interior is very modern with thoughtful cultural decor that gives it a warm, authentic feel. The food tastes great and everything we ordered was flavorful and well presented. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was a calm, relaxed dining experience. Prices are a little higher, but the quality and atmosphere make up for it.

This place is so good!!! The food was amazing and the aesthetic of the place is so cute. The service was really good too. The nem cuon (pork spring rolls) and cánh gà chiên nuoc man (chicken wings) were delicious . The wings were so crispy and the sauce was an amazing combination. I got the bún cha hànoi dish which I really enjoyed. I also got the Vietnamese egg coffee which had a nice balance of coffee and sweetness to it. My only complaint was that the drinks come in plastic to go containers so it's not as aesthetic as the picture, but you do get more of the drink in a way because the cup is larger than the ones pictured. I definitely recommend this place and trying something new!

Had dinner with wife and friend and we got there just in time to be seated around 6:30 tonight (Sat.). Had fish wings which were really chicken wings in a fish sauce and a rice with three types of protein they pork meatloaf, fried tofu topped with a fried egg on rice. Others had spring rolls with a chicken vermicelli dish. Food was outstanding and service was excellent as usual. Prices are reasonable since 3 of us had dinner for less than $70. Place is very popular with families. Great Asian bakery nearby with interesting desert selection.

Gao took over the Pho Hang Restaurant location. It opened on January 12, 2026. The owners of GAO remodeled the outside and inside. It's more spacious. I travel outside of Michigan to find Vietnamese beverages so I was happy to see the beverage options of Vietnamese coffees. I tried the Vietnamese Ube Coffee. It was so good. I am looking forward to trying out the Vietnamese food soon!

The food was delicious, and the service is amongst the best I've experienced in metro Detroit. I highly recommend the Tiger Tea--such a lovely surprise. The decor is clever and makes me want to implement some of the ideas in my own business. If you haven't tried this yet, give it a shot. You won't regret it!

Waiting for 15 to 20 minutes. Ambiance is nice. Very promising for a restaurant in this part of the city. A lot of customers this Sunday.

There is some home sauce in the sandwich. It's ok. The vermicelli is quite different. Not loving the rolls, the Vietnamese pickles and the tofu so much, the skin of the rolls are rather soggy. The pickles are an odd texture and flavor to me. The tofu sometimes has an Indian curry seasoning to it. Overall it's not what I expected at all. It's a different riff on the vermicelli bowl, but it didn't do it for me. Ate my egg and meat and left the rest behind, mostly.

I had gotten any orders from everybody in the house and I placed the order at the register. I was very surprised at how quickly I got the order. Wow amazing! Now this was the first time I had gotten food from this place. As I grabbed the bags that were tied shut, my brain said you should check the order. But then I thought, I am the only person in the restaurant, I'm sure they got it right. Well, I was missing two of my items. I decided that the next day I had to go about a block from where the restaurant is, I'll pop in and tell them what happened. When I told the person at the counter, the question out of their mouth was, well, why didn't you come back. I told them I was not nearby and that by the time I was coming back home, they were closed. They did give me the refund on the two items, but I thought it was an odd question to ask me before never saying that they were sorry they messed up my order. Now, the food we received was delicious. The bread, the fillings, were amazing. My wife's bowl, she loved it. The egg roll rolls were perfect. My only complaint about the egg rolls, was that they don't have a sauce for them. They do have a hot sauce that is very nice. But I was looking more for a plum sauce type of thing. I would definitely go back there again, but I will check my order before I leave the building. They have a small seating area that is very well appointed. I think that most of their business is carry out.

Been wanting to try this place for many years and had time to go finally…read more I didn't hate no love it. It was more mid for me. I did enjoy the smoothie with boba. I miss have smoothies/boba drinks made this way. I did like the huge menu because there are so many choices of options. I did like the scallion lobster although it was messy to eat. The flavor reminded me that that canned chop suey I ate as a child. I felt their prices were kind of high for the area. Just my personal option. I wasn't a huge fan of the pho broth, but I didn't hate it either. I'm indifferent bout it. But my noodles were very clumped together and hard to break apart to eat them in the soup. I would have preferred more white onion and not more green in the soup. The meat choice (brisket sliced beef) was ok. The price for the bowl was reasonable. The crab pho was not worth the price. This was over priced I feel. Maybe I would give them another try and try their traditional plates. The chicken quarters looked good and so did the seafood boils. Service was kinda slow. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come to our table and greet us. We got water and then we wait a little more time for a waiter. Overall the service was not bad. Our waiter was pretty cool. Restaurant wasn't dirty but there were some flies buzzing.
