It's easy to see why this place might fly under the radar but don't let it's tiny hole and the wall facade fool you. This place is a must try. It's a carry out joint run by the most genuinely kind people. The pan fried dumplings are sooo delicious! The onion pancake is also a must try, soft yet crispy at the same time with a fantastic hosin sauce for dipping definitely one of my favorites. I went for lunch and was away from home, so I ate inside. I ordered the pork dumplings, onion pancake, and green tea. They have a counter where you can eat, but it's truly a takeout spot. The 2 gentlemen working were very kind and friendly. The dipping sauces were great, and I loved that they served cucumber with the pancakes. I would get the pancakes every day if I lived close by. The only downside is that they put everything in Styrofoam. It would have been nice to have a cup for the tea. The shrimp dumplings were nothing short of perfection. I would never come here and not order them. The soup was also phenomenal and the best cozy winter dinner. The couple who runs the restaurant are so generous and kind. There were some big orders when we stopped in for dinner and they apologized for wait, but we were happy to hang out and watch the cooking happen! I stopped in yesterday because I was looking for somewhere with delicious dumplings to kick off the Lunar New Year and I was not disappointed. I experienced super friendly service and even was offered a complimentary cold drink from their fridge. I ordered 8 dumplings (4 pork and 4 chicken), a spring roll, and the green onion pancakes. It was all delicious and fresh. I did have to wait because the food was made to order, but the wait was not too long and I was happy to do it for fresh food! We LOVED this place! The best dumplings I have ever had in my life. I asked for steamed, which they do but then with a sear at the end. The flavor and texture was incredible. The two men working there were so attentive and kind. They shared a Japanese mochi bean paste dessert just because we were talking about something related, let us split 2 orders of dumplings into all 4 varieties to try and just in general were outstanding. These folks were really fantastic. The customer service was great and the food was delicious. This place is takeout only but there are a few chairs. We tried the pork and the chicken dumplings. We both preferred the pork. (I tend to prefer chicken but the pork was really good). We did the fried wontons which were also really good. The spring roll seems house made. My favorite was the green onion pancake though. Next time we will try a soup and the cheese ragoons. read more

As you enter it's the most authentic little shop with photos of the delicious options that await you. I ordered the lunch special with soup and a drink. Perfect choice!!! They allowed me to eat inside since I was just visiting and it was slower. I was so happy they let me try the veggie dumplings and the chicken dumplings. Spring roll was great! The owners are so genuinely nice! This time I tried the chicken dumplings and I think I like them a little better than the pork. You should definitely try them as long as you like cilantro because they did have a stronger cilantro taste but the pork are also amazing! If you are Chinese, this is not going to be the most authentic place, the flavor is a little on the American Chinese food side: when the couple started the restaurant over 20 years ago, not many people would appreciate authentic Chinese food. Hot, fresh, wonderfully cooked food with great flavor. Add in really nice people and that makes for a great meal! The couple that own and run the place are originally from Shanghai and they know their craft! I'm trying to cut down on the meat intake, so I went all veg and ordered veg cheese rangoon, veg dumplings and scallion pancakes. Dumpling wrappers were tender cooked perfectly, crispy on one side and tender on the other. Scallion pancakes were delicious and the rangoons; outstanding! Next time I'll also try the veg spring rolls and hot & sour soup. Really outstanding! I've said in other reviews and will say here: Eat your fresh food at the restaurant. I know it's only a counter, but the chef and his wife are happy to have you and nothing tastes better than a freshly fried dumpling (or anything else). If you live across the street, fine, but otherwise do yourself a favor and eat there. I think some others may be confused because the menu says "Carry Out Only" but I think that's in relationship to not having delivery as the owners were happy to have me eat at the counter. The owner and her husband were so sweet, kind, and thoughtful. I truly felt like I was at home with my grand mother with the genuine love I felt. TJ's Dumplings are tasty and filling. They come 8 per order with choice of pork, shrimp and vegetable. Tried all three variations and my favorites are pork and shrimp. Vegetable is good as well - lots of different vegetables in the filling, not just plain cabbage like you find at other places. Accompanying dipping sauce, which may not seem like enough at first, is the perfect amount of soy flavor needed for all 8 of the dumplings without overpowering taste of the dumplings themselves. Scallions pancakes with side sauce were delicious as well, nice portion of 3 large pancakes per order. This is more of a carry out place. It's fairly small and there are a few seats at the counter, but I understood these are not typically used for dine in. They said we could sit at the counter to dine in that day only because it was in the middle of the afternoon and traffic was slow. It did start to pick up while we were finishing up later in the afternoon as the dinner rush started coming through. The owners were very kind and generous while we were there. I would definitely recommend TJ's for carryout of their dumplings. They offer other dishes as well which I will try next time I'm there to pick up some dumplings :) read more

It's a tiny carryout restaurant, but if you are a sensual being like myself, who truly appreciates the experience of the sights, sounds, smells and energy around you, you'll understand the divinity of this place. They have spring rolls, rangoon, green onion pancakes, dumplings, beef noodles, a pork chop that looks amazing, fried wontons, soups, chicken tenders, and Chow Mein. The lunch combos are a variation of menu items. I ordered the #3... Dumplings with two fried wontons and soup. As I was noshing, all I could think was that I could literally eat this meal everyday. The aromatic wonton soup is delicious and very much a meal within itself. The warm broth is just what you need on a cold Michigan day. It tastes like love. The wontons are plump and filling. The green onion and corn provide a tasty crunch element. The fried wontons were sort of an appetizer, you receive two with the lunch combo. They are full of flavor; and the crunch was fun to eat and dip in the accompanying sauce. The piece de resistance...the pork dumplings... I believe there were about seven in the order. I'd have to count them in the picture I took because I scarfed them down so quickly I can't remember how many I ate. If you like dumplings, you'll love these. The filling is delicious. We did get a free water while we waited for our order. The crab Rangoon veggies are bad, they taste odd and have no cream cheese in them. My husband said they were the worst crab Rangoon he's ever had and they were not carb worthy for either of us. You know it's bad when we don't eat all of the crab Rangoon and worse when we throw it out. The sauce was odd as well, didn't have any flavor, wasn't sweet or tangy at all. The onion pancake was so greasy and plain too. The sauce was okay. The chicken dumplings were good, sauce was also not bad. read more

Weird backstory: pork wontons are my favorite thing on earth. I haven't been able to find them since I moved from my hometown almost 10 years ago. Well, when I finally discovered this place I was thrilled! I called (no online ordering, sadly), the lady told me "not even 10 minutes" and when I arrived, I was met by her with a friendly demeanor and attitude. The wontons are good, sort of small, but I'm so happy! I would ask for more sauce next time though. Def coming back.
