How this place has a 4.3 rating just escapes me. Let's start out with the super sticky tables and condiment containers on the tables. Super disgusting! And whoever mops the floors must have an irrational childhood fear of cleaning corners. Although the floors themselves are clean, each corner has a disgusting black buildup of filth. Likewise, the sinks in the bathroom. They have not been cleaned well in a very long time. Food: the beef roll pie is delicious. The marinated beef is OK but should be served cold, not room temperature. The steamed dumplings were OK too. However, the noodle dishes were oily, bland, flavorless, and just seasoned with a sweet brown sauce. Further, there is almost no meat to be found in the noodle dishes. What I had looked to be scraps. I paid three dollars extra to have the wide hand cut noodle. It was basically served raw to me. Service: this place has no concept of service. Food comes out haphazardly. First I got my entrée, then my daughter got her entree, then we got two appetizers. Sometime later, my son got his entrée, and the steamed dumplings came. Never once was an empty dish taken away, and never once was a water glass refilled. Service here is absolutely awful. Other than the beef roll pie, there isn't a single redeeming quality about this place. The food is awful, the service is terrible, all surfaces are sticky and dirty. Amazing! I have been a little under the weather and wanted a big bowl of soup. This was the perfect place to try. I wasn't sure what to order but asked the waiter and he was kind enough to name some of his favorites. I also ordered the cucumber with chili oil. Everything tasted so fresh! This place was amazing! I came here one day to have a nice lunch after doing some shopping at the grocery store. I'm glad I did. The soup was so delicious. It was rice in flavor and the meat was so tender. The winner was the hand pulled noodles. I ordered the fried chicken as well. I really enjoyed the flavor of the wings. I enjoyed Chinese style fried chicken so it was perfect for me The portions and the prices were very reasonable. The customer service was nice and the restaurant was very nice looking. Food: 4.5/5 we got the pork and chive dumpling (pan fried and boiled) and both were soooo good. We also got the green onion pancake and I thought these were okay. I'm used to green onion pancake being flakier and these were thicker and chewy. The hand pulled noodle soup was good! I really enjoyed the fresh noodles and beef was tender. I was disappointed by the broth because it is on the plainer side though; HOWEVER, they have this chili flake oil stuff that added a nice touch! So flavor to taste. One of our favorite noddle place in the area. We come here pretty often. Their service is OK, for a while they stopped providing normal water, you have to pay for bottled water if you want any water. But the noodle is decent enough to keep us coming back. Our favorite dishes are: Honey Pork rib hand sliced noddles, it's a soup noddle, the rib is for sure the hero of the dish. Highly recommend their beef stirfry noodle and scallion pancakes. This is the 2nd time I visited this noodle place and again I'm happy with the flavor and texture of the noodle. Portion size is quite big and can be shared with another person. Crab Rangoon was delicious. However, their soup dumplings and pan fried dumplings were ok but I would order something else. The soup dumpling doesn't have much flavor. I love the spicy sauce they have and so good with their noodle. Service was good and fast. It gets busy on the weekend and they can set up the tables if you have a party of 8. They have fountain drinks and it's self service. About time I have reviewed this place after it being one of my favorites for over a year. The food here is sooo good. Specifically the honey pork rib pulled noodles. I have gotten it at least 3 times now and it is one my favorite dishes in the metro Detroit area. I always get a new side/ appetizer/ dumpling whenever I got and have not been disappointed by any of them. It's always fun to try a new one. The Chinese food is okay by Michigan standards, so the bar is set quite low. The Chinese food in metro Detroit is bad. Very few places are authentic. When someone tells me they don't like Chinese food my response is that they have likely never tasted real Chinese food in metro Detroit. If you want to try something a little different, and are not afraid of intestine, give this a try. The intestine was just the right amount of chewy-ness and texture. The noodle was hand made and fried well. Would get this again as this was very satisfying. The tomato beef was supposedly very popular, however, it was disappointing how little beef there was. There was ~5 small pieces of beef and some tomato and LOTS of rice. When I asked, they said this was standard - so I should have asked beforehand. It was good, just too little amount. Ambiance was nice. Very few Chinese restaurants where you see the kitchen visibly where they cook. Props to them for that. Can't recommend this place enough! It's worth visiting if not just for their special home-made extra spicy chili oil. I've never had anything like it but it's incredible; be warned it is HOT though, especially for a midwestern palate. I have been meaning to try this place out and so glad I did! Their Outstanding dish is their honey pork rib hand pulled noodle soup. The broth is perfect. The meat is tender and there is an ample amount. The noodles are perfect. Definitely get this. I ordered the beef tripe noodle soup. I would say this is a near perfect dish too, but I agree with other Yelpers that the broth is a bit bland. However, a couple spoonfuls of chili oil made it perfect and I was happy with the result. Their chili oil had a nice smoky flavor to it. Super yummy. Beef tripe was ample amount and very yummy. The fried pork and chive dumplings were extremely good, surprisingly. I think it's the combination of the vinegar sauce they give you, and the airy fried crust of the dumpling. Really yummy! This place is clean, staff are helpful and overall a great business to support. My only complaint is that we basically had to ask for everything-plates for our dumplings, more napkins, even water. We dropped by Not Just Noodle for a weekend lunch after some friends recommended this place for hand pulled noodles. It was a pretty snowy day, so there weren't too many people eating in, yet they seemed to have a healthy take out business given that the chef was working constantly during the time we were there. We got one dish each: Signature Beef Hand Made Pull Noodle ($13.99) - As soon as I heard the squeak of a noodle making machine cranking, I knew something was suspicious. The kitchen is in open view, so I walked up and saw the chef feeding the dough through a machine, then hand stacking the sheets, and finally through another machine to cut the dough. Hand pulled? More like machine pressed and cut but I guess they get away with it because the machine is hand cranked. It's easy to tell after you start eating that these are not hand pulled. Firstly, each noodle strand is completely uniform. Secondly, the texture isn't as bouncy as a hand pulled noodle since the gluten strands aren't congruent, although I suppose the gluten content of the flour could affect things as well. They give quite a bit of noodle, possibly too much to be honest. Since there is such a large amount and they are cut quite thin, it results in large clumps while you eat. For the rest of the dish - the broth is pretty light with light salty/savory notes. The beef is marinated in a Chinese braising spice mixture and is braised until quite tender. Not Just Noodle gives a good amount of meat. On the side, there is some sliced daikon and a couple of pieces of bok choy. The bok choy has a very raw biting taste. Given the taste and very crunchy texture, I assume they don't blanch it and instead just dump raw bok choy into the bowl and hope that the broth is hot enough to cook it through. Unfortunately it doesn't cook and is quite unpleasant to eat. Shredded Pork Green Pepper over Hand Made Noodles ($13.99) - This dish is served piping hot and the aroma coming off the bowl is exquisite and mouthwatering. This dish is essentially red and green bell peppers cut lengthwise, sauteed with onions and garlic and marinated julienned pork. The pork is deliciously tender and very lean with no fat or sinew. The bell pepper unfortunately is not cooked evenly, with some pieces almost being mushy, and some pieces crunchy and barely cooked. This is served over the same machine cut noodles as other dishes. There's still a bit of saucy broth at the bottom of the bowl, so it's not completely dry. Tastewise the dish is very good overall. The pepper flavor really comes through and they also add a bit of sichaun peppercorn for that mala mouth numbing feel. There is an option to get the knife cut noodles (the chef uses a modified vegetable peeler to slice the dough block into noodles right into a boiling pot of water), but it's a $2 up charge. I was actually wondering why there was a up charge when I first looked at the menu, because hand pulling should technically be more labor intensive than knife cut but I figured that out pretty quickly! Note: Not Just Noodle doesn't serve water in cups; they only have bottled water. Not sure if they charge for it since we brought our own water this time. There are a handful of other places in Metro Detroit that actually serve legitimate hand pulled noodles so I would tend to those places rather than Not Just Noodle. The food isn't bad, it's just that there are better places nearby. I personally can't see a reason to eat at Not Just Noodle again but you can give it a try and see for yourself. read more

This is easily one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the metro Detroit area. I've come twice in two weeks and can see my family becoming regulars here. Considering that this place has so many good reviews I was surprised how average the food was. I was really excited to try them and when I started to eat, the disappointment hit. We ordered two stir fried hand pulled noodles, one with beef and with vegetable with extra veggies and shredded potato salad. What I didn't like: - for the price you pay there is not much of beef or veggies (even after I paid extra for more veggies). - by veggies I mean couple of leafs of bok choy, half slice of tomato and some onion. Yeah.... - no vegan protein available. How difficult it is to add tofu as an option? - lack if flavor. I had to flavor it at home. The only did that had a flavor was the potato salad - very greasy What I did like: - noodles itself were nice and chewy - potato salad had a nice flavor with a kick to it Maybe the noodles with the broth are a better idea but I did see some reviews that also mention lack of flavor.
