I've been coming here for 30years since they were on Southport and I just had the stupidest most hostile pedicures who would not address my callouses on my big toes which til today was a normal part of a pedicure and today was a) not going to happen, b) unavailable as an add on, and "$10 or $15" - how will she know? I got my nails done here this past Thursday, October 10th by Zaya T. My friend and I had appointments for 1pm. We both got GelX. Same size, shape, and both with one color and no design. She was done within the hour with who seemed to be the manager from our understanding. I was in the chair for THREE HOURS. To begin, the woman I was put with was either a brand new technician who hadn't done much training or has never done GelX before and needs significantly more time training on that specific job. Within the 3 hours that I was sitting there she started with huffing and puffing when she came over to me and didn't acknowledge me when I said hello. She picked nail sizes that were all entirely too large for my nail bed, with 2 sizes smaller available. Proceeded to cut three of my fingers while working on me, one of which was deep enough to bleed and leave me in a lot of pain and her answer was to put alcohol directly on the wound. These things already were tuning me into the fact that she should not be working on humans yet, but it continued when she had no idea how to work the light for curing the nails and no matter how many times I showed her how to use it she continued to be unable to do it with the following nail. Each nail was shoved up and under my cuticle line which also hurt. One nail was extremely crooked and had to be completely removed and replaced because she continued to cure it even after I pointed it out and asked her to fix it. I didn't stay quiet about my concerns and issues, and was respectful about the things I was seeing yet was seemingly ignored. I made the appointment at 1pm and left at 4pm. In that time frame my friend had the same nails done, went home, showered, came back to the salon to check on me, left again to go get food before the flight we were trying not to miss, came back again, and then went and waited in my car for me after realizing I was still not done. She did all of that while I was sitting in the salon chair. Friday morning after arriving to vacation that I had gotten my nails done for, my pointer finger nail fell completely off while putting my swimsuit on. I've had GelX previously and it's lasted me 2+ weeks. They shouldn't and don't take 3 hours, nor do they fall off next day when done correctly by someone who has done them before. The management team here should be checking in with stylists and their work and surly shouldn't be putting them on jobs that they're obviously unable to complete well. Truly disappointing especially when you're there to get vacation nails done and was met with the worst nail salon experience you've ever had. read more

The staff was friendly when I came in, and it was also wonderfully quiet and relaxing for most of my visit. They do have massage chairs for during the pedicure. I highly recommend this place. I come here every 2-3 weeks to get my gel manicures done. It's clean, and they're very quick and meticulous. In my opinion, $40 for a gel manicure is an absolute steal, and it includes all the things (hot towel, massage). I will continue patronizing this salon for so long as I live in Chicago. read more

So disappointed. This salon does a solid job and they are close to my apartment. But let's be clear, I paid to have my nails done and that's what I got. They don't massage for much longer than 90 seconds. After my last appointment, I received a phone call from the manager criticizing how much I left for a tip. If you want more money for your services, then charge more money for your services. Loved this place but there's only 1000 places in the city to get my nails done. read more

Yep - I'm going 5 stars with this one and I am PICKY on my nail places. I visited TG Nail Salon because I bought a Groupon. After some other failed mani/pedi attempts at other spots, I was not looking forward to my first visit. However, I was pleasantly and happily surprised. First of all, I called and they could squeeze me in that day for my inagural visit. The staff was very friendly (though I did get a bit of a scolding look when I turned on the massage chair right when she started painting...ok, I didn't know this one was so violently moving...). In any case, they were gentle on my feet and painted them so well that I seriously didn't need another pedicure for a month (well, aside from my rough heels, but that's due to my running, not the fault of the pedicure). I visited again this week and, though I had another nail technician, the service was spot on. I have adorable toes and I was relaxed throughout the process. The spot is clean and relaxing (and I'm seriously a stickler for cleanliness). Also, they used my name when talking to me throughout - and when I left as well. I just think this is a nice touch and goes a long way with me. Definitely a good spot! The lower reviews seem to all be from '08/09 - ish, so I can't speak for then, but I really think this is a solid place to get your nails done (and reasonably priced). read more

My non, no-chip pedicure is decent, and has actually held up so much better than my no-chip service. Not to mention, my nail-beds we're sore for days due to the tech's heavy-handedness. I have been getting my nails done since I was 14, and have moved many times across five states. It's fair to say that I have been to a LOT of nail salons. I've been going to TG Nail Salon (Diversey) for the past year or so, and it's hands down the best one I've been to. The ladies are super nice, professional, and do an excellent job. The prices are extremely reasonable. It's super easy to get an appointment (I usually just call the day of and am always able to get in the same day). They have a bonus card, which they stamp each time, and then you get like $10 off once you have spent a certain amount. And they do specials some months (e.g., $10 off a no chip manicure M-W). But the specials vary from month to month. This place is the best, and my nails always look good for several weeks. read more

Best salon I've been to in Chicago. Regular manicure with regular polish lasts 10 days (at least) every time without chipping or peeling, even after scrubbing my shower grout with bleach. My cuticles feel super moisturized and very well taken care of for the first 6 days and I have extremely dry skin. Highly recommend. I pay $20 plus tip for a regular mani. read more

Of the hundreds of nail salons I can select from within a 5 block radius (there must be 20) I have been loyal to TG now for the past few months. My new "nail salon monogamy" is due to TG's cleanliness and professionalism. Jackie, the "boss", is awesome. She's so kind and personable! I can tell she runs a tight ship as her technicians follow suit. It's a smaller shop of 5 stations for each mani and pedi, and they seem slightly understaffed at times, but I never feel as if they are rushing me through the process of a perfect mani/pedi each time. And because of it, my nails look amazing and last forever! (Seriously, I didn't have to get a pedi for like 2 months plus bc it looked good till the end!!) I have been to and reviewed a LOT of nail salons and this is definitely one of the best! The salon is very clean and modern. They have a huge selection of colors, including no-chip. I had a no-chip manicure and regular pedicure for a packaged deal of $60, which you might think is a bit expensive, but it was well worth it! All of the ladies do an incredibly meticulous and thorough job. The absolute best and most unique part is that in addition to a hand and arm massage with your manicure, they have you place your head on the table and give you a neck and shoulder massage as well! And if that isn't reason enough, they place a hot towel on your back afterwards! I've had the cursory 30 second neck and shoulder rub after a manicure but never something as lux as this. And if you want more, they offer 10 or 15 minute massages for an extra $14 or $20 respectively. I also got my eyebrows and upper lip waxed, which was just as thorough and meticulous as the nails. You will not be disappointed with whatever services you choose. They also offer a reloadable loyalty card which keeps track of how much money you've earned. I will definitely be back! read more

This is my neighborhood nail salon. I live across the street and been going here since Summer of 2014. The ladies here are very nice. Some are quiet and some are talkative, but they respect if you want to just want to have a nice, quiet "nail spa day." I usually get a no-chip mani and pedi and it stays on for a while. No-chip lasts at least 2 weeks and my pedi last a month sometimes. Hands down, the BEST manicure I have ever gotten. This place was amazing from the moment I stepped through the door. I was in for a regular manicure and had a pretty shabby looking no chip on that they removed with care. No hard scraping of my nails and my nails didn't feel weak after she was done. Jackie took her time and gave me a truly luxurious experience. The salon is VERY clean and every nail tech seemed to be taking their time on the customers in their chairs. My regular manicure lasted two weeks which is unheard of! I have been coming to this nail salon consistently for the last two years, on somewhat of a monthly basis. Today, I asked for no chip two-colored nails - the top of my nail a different color than the bottom portion. They tried to tell me because it's a "design," I would need to pay an additional $10. How is asking for two different colors on each nail considered a design? If I had asked for stars or hearts to be painted on my nails, then sure, charge me $10 because that's indeed a design. After two years of business, I will not be coming back again and look forward to finding a nail salon that will accommodate painting my nails two different colors without charging me incremental. If you're reading this in an attempt to decide where to get a mani/pedi, Yelp on no more! This is the spot!! Seriously, inexpensive prices, the kind of people you want to give your business to knowing they'll get the job done RIGHT! I used to be a salon floater, never really loving a place enough to go back. At the other nail salons either the service was mediocre, the prices were jacked up way to high or I felt like the people working there hated me and were saying evil things amongst themselves about the customers. But not T.G. Nails on Diversey, it's full of happy, hardworking people who actually want to be there and take pride in what they do. The type of people who become your friends and help you debate of what nail polish color to choose from and trust me they make it difficult because they have every new OPI and Essie color and get this, the colors are ORGANIZED not scattered everywhere. I've been coming to T.G. for about 7 years now and even though I've moved to a different state I have yet to find a nail salon that even comes close to their mani/pedi's. quality: day after getting my manicure, and I can already tell that the sloppiness of clipping my cuticles will result in some effed up regrowth. the nail technician YANKED at my cuticles to the point that my finger started bleeding. I'm pretty sure you shouldn't put anything but an antiseptic or something like neosporin on an open cut, so I asked her what was the blue stuff she was applying and she looked at me like I affronted her..
