I was excited to try the Nail Lounge based on the glowing reviews and it mostly met my expectations. I was able to score a same-day appointment, and they were really flexible with my appointment time as I was running late. The salon isn't full of frills, but was absolutely comfortable. There were a few other customers when I arrived, and it was clear most of them were regulars. The services are insanely affordable: $45 for a mani/pedi with an additional $5 for a no chip polish on my nails. I thought my nail tech did a great job on my pedicure. I felt pampered and relaxed. I was less enthused about the manicure. Once I got home, I realized that the top coats of the polish on most of my nails didn't extend across the whole nail, giving it an unfinished, layered look. I'm not sure if that led it to chip more easily, but I found that I already had some wear and tear a few days into the manicure, maybe just a day later than I would with regular polish. I will definitely be back as the prices were so good and I want to give it another shot. I just might be more eagle eyed next time. read more

I went here for years and loved it. Wasn't until I moved to Hyde Park and tried to find a new nail place that I realized just how GOOD this salon is! I made the trek back up north and got a PERFECT mani/pedi from Sunny's team, after multiple other shops literally damaged my nails. If you want a solid polish or no chip, in a super clean, cheerful environment (with GOOD chairs, not those crappy bowls everyone is doing now) I HIGHLY recommend Nail Lounge. I came her to get a much needed mani and pedi. I got the "spa" mani and pedi. I look forward to the hot wax treatments. The experience was a standard "ok." Nothing earth shattering. One thing to note is that they don't do "hot wax." They do collagen treatments. I had never had this done before. It wasn't as relaxing as the hot wax but the end result seemed the same. I enjoyed the ambiance of this place and honestly loved the fact that it was close and convenient. 1) no mani no chip options. Literally there is like 18 colors. 2) they don't do dip powders...so nothing is really making up for the lack of color variety. 3) they don't seem to get a lot of customers of colors cuz I was getting gawked at from the stuff and customers. - I understand you can not control people ... but... customers won't comfortably stare if staff isn't also staring. 4) no chip should not be chipping on the second week if manicure. 5) so, I got a pedicure as well.... and the tools were NOT new. While the color and experience was fine, I feel like the woman doing my nails just did not want to be there. Granted, it was 10AM and for the first 15 minutes she was the only one of 3 women doing something and I'm sure she would have rather taken that time for herself. The only downside is that my cuticles that have grown into my nails (that most salons push back and cut off) it's still there. $35 for a fast gel is not awful but, I could also spend that amount for someone to do a full manicure. read more

This has been my go-to no frills nail salon for a few years. The staff is great, they know me by name, it's clean, and I can always get in quickly. There's also a great selection of gel manicure colors. I really like Sandra and Ashley; they both do excellent work. Bonus: the massage chairs actually give you a great massage! Friendly staff and a nice place but when I was done with my pedicure, I was told to sit under this table for my feet to dry but there didn't seem to be any fan or heater or special anything under that table. so after about 5 minutes the woman put plastic wrap over my feet so I can put my shoes on. This seemed premature but I've only had a few pedicures in my life so I trusted her that my toes were dry when they were not. When I got home 10 minutes later, I carefully peeled the plastic wrap off hoping everything was okay but instead my big toes we're completely messed up. They were nice enough to squeeze me in at the end of the day but I wish they had not put plastic wrap on my feet. I was hoping to go back today for a touch up before I leave for vacation tomorrow a.m. but they are closed on Mondays. I'm out 37 bucks which is a bummer. Live and learn I guess. read more

Today, I had a really pleasant experience at Nail Lounge! I called at about 1pm to see if they had any open afternoon appointments for a mani/pedi; luckily, they had an opening at 2pm! I arrived shortly before my appointment time, was told to grab a color, and was in the pedicure chair right on time! As other reviewers have mentioned, this place is very quiet. Low music, muted TV, minimal chatting - just very chill, which I appreciate during my mani/pedi time. Sandra was great! Friendly, speedy, and very professional. I never felt rushed, but it was clear that this was process that was very efficient to their establishment. Price was great - $40 for mani/pedi combined. That included hot towels for my hands & feet, a light shin & calf massage, and a short neck & shoulder massage! No extra charges for any of those things! I'm from Indianapolis, but if I ever end up needing my nails done while I'm in the CHI, I would definitely check them out again! read more

I popped in on a Wednesday afternoon (it's now Friday) for a gel manicure and pedicure. The space was clean and they were able to get to me quickly. My pedicure was done very fast with very little scrubbing to remove dead skin or attention to detail. The nail polish is already peeling on some of my toes and it's only been 2 days. My gel manicure was done quickly which is normally appreciated and a nice neck massage was included. However, I'd rather have had the time spent on the actually polishing. The coats are inconsistent and lumpy (the kind of lumps that start to peel mid-First week) and is already peeling is some spots. Super bummed and won't be going back. read more

I went in today to get a no chip manicure. Staff was very friendly and they were fast. I didn't feel rushed but they did get me in and out and I like that when it comes to getting my nails done. My nails were in pretty bad shape due to breaking while moving, since I got the no chip manicure, I was told if they peeled to just come back by and they would fix it. I thought that was very nice as most places would not openly address that but rather ignore it. I got a quick shoulder and hand massage at the end of the service which was a very nice touch. Not sure why this place has so many positive reviews. It is very basic/ bare-bones and sanitation is questionable. I am very happy that I only went for a polish change, and not a full manicure, as they re-use emery boards on every customer. Most salons nowadays use single-use emery boards and buffers since it was discovered that fungus and infections are passed on those tools and you cannot sanitize them like the metal tools. My nail tech tried to use a used emery board on me, and when I asked her to use a new one, she looked at me like she was very confused but begrudgingly got one. The polish job was fine, but there were no nail dryers to expedite drying time. Dryers are not very expensive; you can buy them at the drugstore for $15. Not sure why a nail salon would not invest in them. Between the reused tools and lack of dryers, I will not be back. read more

I visited here the first time recently and when I walked in I felt like it had a welcoming vibe, though it did take a couple minutes before anyone acknowledged me. My friend and I had made an appointment to take advantage of their Tuesday discount for a Mani & a Pedi. I thought both services were really well done. They had a long lasting polish that was not gel polish, but still a little more than the regular polish. I tried this one on my hands, and it lasted a really long time, at least 2 weeks. I needed an emergency mani/pedi and after reading the reviews I was so glad they could get me in right away. The first thing I noticed was, dang, it's so quiet in here! Are we in a library zone? There was a flat screen TV on with no volume and closed captions, and soft light-rock playing in the background. No one really welcomed me or said hello, but one lady walked over a pointed to the rack of polishes. Good thing I knew I was supposed to pick out polish because she didn't actually say anything to me. Have we taken a vow of silence? Finally Sarah walked me over to the pedicure chair without saying much, just kind of gestured. That's pretty much the way the whole pedi was. On the bright side I don't like when Nail Techs are gabby, so I guess the silence wasn't so bad. Sarah's technique was very methodical and efficient. I chose a deep, dark purple polish and my piggies looked and felt great! The manicure was also done very quietly and efficiently. I chose a somewhat bright pink for my fingernails, and Sarah sat down with the pink and a sparkly silver. I wondered what the silver was for. She brilliantly used the silver as a base coat for the pink, and what I got was pure color genius. The combination of the pink and sliver created an iridescent pink. She never actually asked me if she could do this, but I put my trust in her and loved the results. So now it's time for the nail equivalent of the blow dry. Sarah lead me to the drying station and turned on the air, again not saying anything. I sat there waiting in anticipation to admire my new nails, and before I knew it someone walked up behind me and turned off the air without saying a word, then walked away. I'll definitely go back to Nail Lounge for my mani/pedis. I'm so happy with the way my digits look! I just won't be surprised at the silent treatment next time. Still, so weird. read more

I love this nail salon! As other reviews have stated, the place is extremely clean and organized. The ladies at the salon don't talk about you in another language while doing your nails. You really get to relax and lounge - especially because Degii (ask for her!) gives the best foot massage EVER... she really puts her heart into it. I will gladly tip at least 20% each time. She always goes above and beyond with the mani/pedi also. Nail Lounge is still a hidden gem. Most people go to Nail Palette down by Foster, but IMO this place is so much better. Service is on par, if not better, than at Palette. They are always well-staffed, especially on weekends. It's my new go-to nail salon! Highly recommend. read more

Having just moved to the Edgewater area I have been looking for a nail salon. After looking at some places on Yelp I decided to give Nail Lounge a try. I'm SOLD!!! The reviews are correct that they have a Mon-Wed Mani/Pedi special for $35. The place really is serene and relaxing. I didn't notice the employees talking much if at all. They had a TV on but with the sound off and there was a local radio station playing in the background at a level that was just perfect. Lounge is a great way to describe this place. Two other patrons came in with a bottle of champagne as well and were offered glasses to enjoy their bubbly!!! How great is that!! I was impress with how they use a scrub on your legs and also you get a foot and leg massage but also when you get your manicure you get a neck rub and hand massage! All this for $35!!! It really was a nice and relaxing time and made me forget how dreary and cold it was outside. I'm definetly going back. read more

WOW, probably the best manicure I've ever had! I made an appointment for a no-chip on a Saturday because the reviews were great. It's my new favorite spot! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the premises are clean, spacious and organized and the service is great. I wish I had asked the girl's name, because she was fantastic. Started with a neck massage that was very thorough, she has firm hands for the massage, but then quickly switches to the gentlest touch for the mani. She was very thorough when applying my polish, making sure the tips got a little extra (this is what usually goes first for me). The hand/forearm massage at the end was very unexpected and totally relaxing. And all that for $35? YES PLEASE! My only suggestion would be to play some music, it was very quiet in there. I was up north shopping at Akira and wanted to get my nails done yesterday (Dec 11, 2016). I read the other reviews and decided to come here. The place was clean and nice. However, they have a horrible selection of colors especially for no chip. They only have maybe 20 colors, no glitter, nothing fun! Don't expect to have any fun kind of nails. Even normal polish they didn't have fun colors! I am used to nail salons that have a ton of colors, but Nail Lounge did not. The spa pedicure was actually pretty good, not much massage, but relaxing. I didn't think the pedicure was that luxe or special. She also didn't scrub my feet that long. The no chip was good as well. My nails look nice, but I hated settling on a color because they didn't have what I was looking for. If you are a basic woman/man that likes simple colors, go here, but bring your own colors! read more

I work around the corner and I was hoping that this could be my weekly pampering spot. The place is very nice along with the employees as well. The technician that did my mani/pedi did not do a very god job and the selections of no chip was very limited in colors. I have not got my nails done in over two months so I new they needed work...they, my feet,didn't get it. She basically pushed back my cuticles and cleaned them up never actually removing the cuticle! weird. To finish it off she didn't paint my full nail it basically looked liked I had got my nails done a week ago and they had grown. When I told her (twice) she said it was the nail polish...? I went in today for a pedicure and gel manicure. The location was nice and I liked the atmosphere - comfortable chairs, quiet space. The pedicure was fine - but very brief and I felt like they were trying to go as fast as possible. My toes ended up looking good but a longer massage and better callus treatment would have made all the difference for me. The manicure was also fine. They had golf on the whole time which was surprising for a nail salon. An okay experience but I'll probably keep looking for a better place. read more

Came in here with acrylics from another salon. One of the girls looked at my hands and then looked at me like I insulted her entire family... She seriously gave me the worst customer service I've ever received in a salon before. Got a pedicure from one of the male workers, didn't get his name but he didn't do a stellar job at all. My big toenail is cut diagonally and I still have a lot... A LOT of cuticle left. It'd been three months since my last pedicure so I was really hoping to get the works :( Sunny, who I love love love, left my hands soaking to get the acrylic off while I got my toesies done. Gave me an amazing manicure and I got a massage at the drying station. It was good, but not great. I'll give them another shot but I will see if I can have Sunny do my feet this time. I would give no stars if possible! DO NOT GET YOUR EYEBROWS WAXED THERE !!!! I had mine done by Ashley on Friday . Within hours, I had a 2 inch section on the orbital bone and an inch section on the right orbital bone where the skin had been completely ripped off. It was bright red, raw and stinging. Very close to bleeding. WTF ! Not even close to my brow,,, why would there be there even be wax that far from brow ? I did notice that she ripped the cloth off against the direction the brows grow. I went back the next day and got my 12 dollars back . The owner didn't seem over concerned . I am furious! I am constantly applying Neosporin and today they are are starting to scab . Love this place. Just north of the hullabaloo of Andersonville's other nail places that are more pricey. The place is simply decorated a bit zen-like with great massage pedicure chairs, and nail stations that are spaced nicely without crowding. The vibe is always chill, even when it's filled. Very relaxing. I used to see Degii religiously--she gave amazing massages, but she left town. Now I see Sarah who is meticulous in her approach to manicures and pedicures and gives very nice massages. She's vigorous like Degii was! Love this place! Came here for a pedicure, and it was amazing! I'm a nurse, so my feet are inevitably dry, beaten up, nail polish a disaster, and my heels terrifying. The pedicurist, however, took on the challenge and seriously worked harder than any one I have ever seen to whip my poor tired feet into shape. The sweet lady scrubbed my heels 3 times, for that alone she deserves a medal. She patiently buffed, moisturized, and otherwise gave my feet the TLC they needed. My nails look gorgeous, and I felt so happy and relaxed afterwards. I used to go to Nail Palette on Foster and Clark, but after some rude service there and after this lovely experience, I will definitely be coming here from now on! read more

Best nail salon I've ever been to. The place is immaculately clean with no strong smells. With some light music playing, it's very quiet and spa-like (no chatter between the technicians). Everything from the placemats at the manicure stations to the women's aprons are neat, tidy, and high-quality and everyone is incredibly professional and polite. I love that the manicures and pedicures are all-inclusive--not every hot towel or lotion is a $ add-on. My nails have never bubbled or peeled. My only complaint is some of the employees are not very friendly, while I appreciate not being bothered during my relaxing mani/pedi. Since writing this review, I decided to give this place another try. I came here today with my sister for a no-chip mani and a regular pedicure. I cannot begin to describe how relaxing the trip was for us both. I have never been to a nail salon that really spends the time massaging your legs, arms or neck, making sure your nails are perfectly filed and just really ensuring you're actually enjoying the experience. I've been searching for the perfect nail salon, and I think I've found it. As for the eyebrow mishap, the owner Sunny and the nail technician Oka (sp?) remembered me and apologized for everything again and even offered me a discount on my services. They thanked me for giving them another try. Mistakes happen, and I appreciate a company that's willing to stand by their brand w/ superior customer service.
