I've been here three times now and my experiences have varied from AMAZING to just OK. Jason was my first and last. The first was incredible, particularly the very deep shoulder and neck massage. It alone was worth the time and money. Unfortunately, my last visit with Jason was just ok and my manicure began to chip/peel from the bottom up about two days later. This salon has the best no-chip manicures I have ever seen! Two weeks after, my nails are still perfect, with the exception of the growth showing between the polish and my cuticles. Sunny and her staff are wonderful, the service is quick and precise, and the salon is very clean and organized. This is one of the quietest salons I've been to, which makes for a very relaxing experience as well. I've been to Nail Lounge twice now. First experience was great with Ashley (mani/pedi). I also had an unexpected shoulder massage which was an added bonus. This place is also open on Sundays which is great! Prices are competitive. Wait time minimal. My second time was good but not as good as my first because a different nail tech didn't apply color evenly. I do like this place though and will ask for Ashley next time. read more

I am happy to have found the Nail Lounge! On my first visit, I got a no-chip manicure that was beautiful and lasted for more than two weeks. I would have been able to keep it on even longer, but my nails grew out. I also went with several friends to get pedicures, and we were all very happy with the service and the results. I don't usually write reviews, but this was so bad. Will never go here again. I went in just for a simple eyebrow wax. First, I was bleeding because the tiny bit of tweezing she did after she pinched my skin horribly. Second, she missed a TON of hair. I had to tweeze a bunch at home. Third, I had to remove globs of wax from multiple parts of both eyebrows myself. The worst waxing I have ever had. A huge waste of money and time. Very disappointed. I have been going to Nail Lounge every 2 weeks since they first opened- 5 years ago? I always make appointments. I have never been late, never been a no-show, and I have brought in many customers. One time when Sunny accidentally double-booked, I was happy to wait 45 mins for her. And then, one day, I admit, I was careless holding her polish display, but I assure you, it was not intentional. She humiliated me in front of the entire salon. Then, she refused to talk to me. I was stunned. It did make me feel better when I read some other reviewers who had similar stories. I feel bad for the many hard-working technicians there, but, sadly, I will never go back there again. read more

There are a bunch of nail places near, or in the neighborhood. Andersonville, Edgewater, Rogers Park, Uptown etc. This one didn't stand out much from the others. Not bad. Just nothing spectacular. I live right by the Nail Lounge and it was my first time. I went in for my first pedicure today and I loved it. I didn't get the lady's name who did the pedicure but she did an awesome job and gave me the best massage ever. Sunny finished off the actual painting and did a great job as well. In the end they finished it off by giving me a back massage. Everyone there is super nice and friendly and the place smells nice and clean -very important. My nails looked really scary before I went in here and I think Jason did a good job fixing them up. He did nip me a little on one of my thumbs but he cleaned it up quickly. He gave me a shoulder and hand massage at the end, which isn't really my style, personally, but it added to the relaxation. I didn't wait and the service was thorough but quick. It was a little quiet for me - Jason is not much of a talker, but he did a good job on the nails and said I could come back and they'd fix them for free if anything happens to them. read more

Popped in on a Tuesday for a quick, pre-Grand Canyon hiking pedicure. Place was quiet and relaxing. Sat and watched Jeopardy! on the tv while the woman went to work on my (sorry about the upcoming description here) ugly, calloused, ingrown toenail- infested feet. She did a great job. So gentle and quick, yet thorough. I got a great calf and foot massage, as well as a shoulder rub at the drying table. This was all in a matter of 45 mins. I noticed that it would've been cheaper to get the mani/pedi for $35 dollars (just the pedi plus color was $30), but having hiking- ready feet was more important than cute nails to match. If you like no-chip they offer a wide variety of shades and brands and they are the best I've experienced (most careful) at removing no-chip polish. This has become my favorite nail spot ever. Yes, it took a while, but Nail Lounge did become my regular salon! Uka is amazing with no chip manicures. The 3 I've gotten from her have all lasted at least 20 days without peeling. Mostly my problem is just that I hate my nails going past my fingertip. If I didn't cut them, who knows how long it would last. Most of the nail techs are pretty quiet, but I think that's how Sunny likes it. Sunny (the owner) is very sweet, understanding, and accommodating. She has gotten me in to see Uka on very short notice and always takes good care to be sure I'm having a good experience. My advice is to go on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday evening. You'll want to make an appointment any other day. read more

This is my favorite nail salon in Chicago! The owner and technicians are super nice, very careful and extremely efficient for the great job they do. The salon itself is impeccably clean and always organized, and has a zen-like serenity. My favorite product that differentiates them for all the salons -- they use an amazing smelling lotion instead of that nasty smelling pink stuff. They have a $35 mani pedi special that runs Mon-Wed which I loved until I got hooked on the no chip manicure. I am so happy I tried this place! It is a new salon, so everything is new and clean! It is nicely furnished with new spa chairs and new contemporary furniture. It is not tacky like so many nail salons. Thankfully, there is no soap opera blaring in a foreign language- the techs are not talking loudly between each other -there are no oversized pictures of dragon lady nails. It is quiet -music on low and often feel like I could fall asleep during my service. I get the no chip with pedicure which is $60. Ashley ( I think that was her name!) did my nails last time and the manicure looks great. The manicure easily last two weeks plus but my nails grow out. I usually park at the paybox on Clark but there is street parking nearby on the side streets if you want to park a block away- it's a residential area so the parking is not bad during afternoons. I've gotten my nails done hear at least 4 times, and they always do a wonderful job. I usually go during the week and I walk right in. I've never seen more than a couple people there on a weekday afternoon. The salon is super quiet, and my gels never chip! They usually last about 3 weeks, and by that time, my nails have grown out so far that I have ot take them off...unlike other salons where my gels start chipping after a week or so. MAGNIFICENT!! Nice, clean, and relaxing atmosphere. LOVED IT!! The lady Sunny who answered the phone was very sweet and accommodating. I made an appointment for 3:30 pm on a Sunday and by goodness! They were ready for me when I arrived. :) The polish I chose for my toes was a really light neon green Orly polish and unfortunately, it had a few "light spots" in it after my tech finished. I went back to her, pointed them out and she added another coat with NO PROBLEM AND NO ATTITUDE. I gave her a $10 tip just for that! My toes look FABULOUS and the massage before and AFTER I got out the chair was also TO DIE FOR. You can find a decent pedicure almost anywhere, but GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE with NO ATTITUDE and A REAL MASSAGE to go along with it is VERY RARE. And, this place had it IN SPADES. If you just want a cheap $20 pedicure to "get it done keep it moving," I can totally understand that. But, if you have the time and an extra $10 bucks, this is the place for you. Really pleasant ecperience. I came in for a no chip mani and I couldn't be happier with the service I received. My nail tech was absolutely wonderful. She was so precise and meticulous and did a beautiful job. I never got her name but I'll certainly be looking for her next time. The place was very clean and welcoming, and it wasn't freezing cold from AC like a lot of places! That's a huge perk for me.
