The service is fine for an eye exam and glasses prescription but the quality of their lenses are bad. I ordered antiglare and took them back twice because I was not happy with them. I changed to a different lense package and still have an ugly glare. My Costco antiglare lenses were much better than these. I do not want to go back a third time so I have resorted to dealing with it. I do not recommend buying glasses here. read more

I was finally allowed a second eye test with the same results, I've suffered for 13 months until I found Dr.Jason Reed at Eye Mart Express in South Park Meadows. Very bad service. They don't have costumer service. I waited more for the doctor to come in than the time he was in there checking my eyes, to the point he didn't even close the door for patient confidentiality. Also, they didn't even check my eye pressure because their machine was not working and that's one of the most crucial thing in an eye exam. I would not recommend to go there!! read more

Very nice staff in the front desk. They were polite and squeezed me in to see the doctor after my online appointment didn't go through. Dr. Ruiz was patient with all of my questions and made me feel comfortable. It's hard to take all of the tests with a mask because the equipment fogs but the doctor was great. read more

This is the rudest optical center I have ever encountered. The lady at the desk demanded that I have a mask on when I didn't have one with me.. yet she had none that she should give me. Great staff Great selection of glasses I do think they need to inform self pay patients how much they will pay because it's more than just an $89 exam fee...... Also I think the staff can do better with informing patients if the doctor is running behind. My 1st time was supposed to be with my daughter but it seemed like the office was overbooked because it took longer than expected and I ended up rescheduling my appointment. Had an appointment at 915am waited in the lobby for 30 min before the assistant did the air puff contact thing and retinal scanning, then waited in the exam room for another 30 min. Ok I get wait times, frustrating but kinda goes with territory I guess. What was the kicker is they said that my contacts was not covered and I would have to pay out of pocket. I told them that doesn't right and this should have been disclosed when I set up the appointment. She was like well we don't know what contact your getting when you do this. I told them that's not true, when you do an appointment with them they send the pre-appointment paper work and in that you list what contacts you want. I said what paid the minimum for contacts. Still was like $115 for contacts. I walked out to my truck immediately called my insurance. They said that doesn't sound right, they called TSO and they were not using any of contact lens credit that was $150.00. I was super frustrated, I should not have to go to the lengths of disputing my coverage to the professionals. You wonder how many have been way over charged because they didn't understand the policies they take or maybe it's tactic to milk money out of the clientele. I can see this happening since it is in an area with predominantly Hispanic population, including myself, that most likely wouldn't take the additional step of confirming with my insurance company. If you have been there recently and feel like you where charged too much, I encourage you to call your insurance company with your receipt to confirm you were billed correctly. read more

I brought my husband and stepson here for annual eye exams, and everything went very smoothly. My stepson had a hard time focusing for one of the scans, and the staff was encouraging and incredibly patient with him. Before I forget her name I have to mention Jenny (hope that's the right spelling) and the other wonderful women in this office! Jenny took my appointment and even had the insurance ready when I arrived. She was charming, funny, professional, and efficient. The entire staff was amazing and patient with me. They are incredibly clean at this office. The young lady that did my exams wiped everything down with alcohol before I even sat down. She did it almost like a reflex, not a procedure. She was great! The Dr. was perfect. He didn't do the "1 or 2" thing with me. I told him I could identify the shape of the letter but that it wasn't clear...he got it! He explained my vision limitations to me and made recommendations to me. I scheduled a contact fitting but he said it wasn't suited for me and recommended glasses. I appreciated his honesty and integrity not trying to sell me something that wouldn't work best for me. Y'all, it's a great place and the staff is amazing. They love what they do and it shows. It was hot in there but Carlos, the assistant, made everything great with his gentle way about him, genuine interest and personable attitude. I felt like we were best friends as soon as I met him, and he said my eyes were super gorgeous! The girls were so friendly and loved helping me find frames, they said it was their favorite part of the job, helping people from frames. Didn't really seem like they knew what they were doing. Wasted my contact premium there for contacts that aren't right. As soon as I put them in everything is blurry... I also said my eyes are super sore, dry and red in the morning, the dr said I probably sleep with my eyes open, which I know isn't the case. He didn't offer any kind of solution, so it's just been something I need to live with, with over the counter drops... and living with blurry contacts. read more

The WHOLE STAFF was so so sweet , sooo patient with me and so helpful. I was taking 40 mins to almost an hr trying to find the right glasses !! I felt like I was annoying them for taking so long but NOPE THEY WERE SOOO PATIENT! even in the beginning they offered to help me look I loved that ! They helped me pick the right glasses that fit perfect and look great on me !! . I definitely recommend this place to anyone trying to get new frames , an exam etc. the wait was literally 3 minutes so fast! They treated me as if I was more than a client(: which I loved very much. They are so respectful and very open minded to others and their problems very understanding people ! She then went on to say very rudely, "well either way your insurance won't cover another exam yet so you would have to pay out of pocket!" SHE assumed I wasn't willing to pay and she was just coming up with another reason that we should just leave. I find it interesting that you one took your RUDE employees word for it but on top of that posted an assumption about my ability to pay on this review. Trying to get my glasses in this clinic on Wednesday 4/5/17 at 3:30pm we call then to make Appointment. they tells us no appointment is necessary because they take walk ins all the time so I go ahead and I call my wife to get my kids early from school so they can get their glasses too. so after looking into the insurance plan they ask me when do you want to comeback ? I said comeback for what ? He said for you appointment ? I said well I came in because someone told me I don't need it appointment just walk in & that's it. So I'm now ready to be see . Them they said well you have make you appointment for another day because the doctors are leaving early today and they are not seeing anybody else so I said well I am here because someone told me I can come anytime you. don't have to make any appointment. now my kids are on their way here from school because we pick them up early to come here because some one give me the grown information . Well I told them now I have to call my wife back to told her not to keep driving way from north Austin to here in that traffic at 3:30pm. So I walk out and. Call my as I said . I don't really recommend this place unless you want to try to be lucky on your visit . By far my favorite place to get my annual check up. The reception staff is friendly and informative. Making an appointment is simple and fast- checking in is hassle free and the staff keeps you informed each step of the way. The office is clean and professional. The exam itself is straight forward and efficient. I spent less than 20 minutes (without the pupil dilation) in the office. Dr. Tom Wilkins is friendly and personable. He answers all my questions and takes time to explain (if you ask) the changes in my vision; you can tell he's truly passionate about what he does. I've been going to this office for two years and will continue to come back! We've desperately needed a great optometrist in this area. Pros: clean, friendly, efficient, and great customer service Cons: I can't see. But that's not their fault-they say the pupil dilation should taper off in a few hours. Until then... I was very impressed by the service that Jenny and Bryanna rendered, i walked in on a Monday without an appointment and was seen within minutes by Dr. Huang. Dr. Huang was very patient and knowledgeable. The staff was very courteous they helped me with all my insurance questions and was given options which was great. They have a great variety of frames, I personally love all the Ray Ban section. I decided to stay with my frames as my glasses were still in great shape but decided to replace the lenses. I was told they would be about two weeks before they were ready but to my surprise they were ready next day. i tried them on at the office and they even modified them to my liking within minutes. I could not believe that when I walked in today to look at frames, I was told I couldn't look at frames until I gave then clerk at the desk my driver's license. Really?? You're the only retail store in Austin that requires the clerk to hold a DL in order to look at the merchandise!! What a silly way to try to run a retail store! read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Texas State Optical. Tracy helped me set an appointment and double checked my insurance coverage before I came in. She caught that my insurance had termed and warned me about it before my appointment. It was super helpful to make sure I had new coverage before coming in and getting my eyes checked. Tracy was friendly and helpful throughout the whole process. I also really appreciated how approachable Dr. Wilkins was. I had lots of questions for him, and he was very good about taking the time to answer all of my questions and teach me about my eye health. do not recconemded! find somewhere else... I will not be returning here next year for my glasses. They had me walk out with lenses that weren't anti reflective... I paid $65 for anti reflective. What if I didn't know what it's supposed to look like? I would've been out of $65. If you do get your glasses here be prepared to wait longer than 2 weeks and expect delays from the "lady who cuts the lenses" because she's off on fridays... The optometrist is really awesome though. Too bad he has a horrible office without sterile covers where other people have put their face on. I will be seeing them again to get my correct lenses that I paid for but other than that they lost a customer. So I returned to get my correct lenses and the receptionist told me it will be ready in a hour so I returned almost 2 hours later and it wasn't ready. I was so angry with this horrible service that I couldn't even say a word so I walked out. The lady called me and let me know that they are going to ask the lady who "cuts the lenses" to come back from lunch to finish them. So I waited for a few minutes and the lady they called from lunch walked in super angry and finished my glasses quickly with still glue on the frames. The receptionist asked me to try them on which I shouldn't have because they were super hot. I was finally glad I didn't have to deal with this place again but as soon as I tried to fold my glasses they wouldn't close properly. The receptionist had to fix them herself because the lady who "cuts the lenses stormed out already... So I have to find a new place for next year. read more

Last week I went to TSO Riverside for my yearly eye exam. It was a very pleasant experience. The office staff - even though they appear to be quite young - are poised and professional. They make you feel welcome, and that they appreciate your business. I was especially impressed by Kathleen, who did the pre-exam work. Rather than getting my eyes dilated, I chose to have the machine exam, which is sort of like an x-ray. Kathleen was extremely patient, as it took several attempts because I was either a little too far from the machine, or else I blinked when the image was taken. Even the part where you get the puffs of air in the eye weren't bad at all. She really knows how to make the patient feel at ease. The optometrist (who was taking Dr. Wilkins' place that day) was really good - very communicative about everything, and willing to answer any questions. The young lady who took my payment and who also answered questions about getting new glasses was likewise very helpful. This was my second visit, and I highly recommend TSO Riverside. read more
