I had a really positive experience here! Admittedly I only came here to try on glasses so didn't do an eye appointment, but Yoli (the woman who helped me) was extremely kind and considerate. She was super patient as I tried all the glasses on, and gave me a ton of great recommendations for which glasses I should get. I've never had such exceptional customer service at an optical shop before, and all in all it was a great experience. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I am beyond disappointed with my experience at Texas State Optical. I trusted the prescription I was given and ordered new glasses, only to receive a pair that made my vision blurry and caused immediate eye strain and discomfort. Instead of improving my vision, they made it significantly worse than my old glasses. I have glasses now that I can't wear, and because of this, I have to take even more time out of my schedule and make an appointment with a completely different eye doctor just to find out what went wrong and get a prescription I can actually use. That should never happen after a routine eye exam. This experience has completely destroyed my confidence in this office. I will never return and would not recommend anyone trust them with their vision. Save yourself the frustration, expense, and inconvenience of having to start over somewhere else. read more

It's been over three weeks and my contacts still aren't in and I was never contacted with an update. Also, the main guy doing the exams asked me to make choice while he left out appointment to attended to another customer but I wasn't given nearly enough info to make a decision which meant I had to have him break everything down when he came back thus extending the appointment which was already running very late anyway. I did call to check last week and was just told to wait, no reason given, and it's been another week and they haven't reached out. I'm not going to give them any now of my business. read more

Everything went well here. I walked in and was seen for a contact exam and had the brand I was familiar with in under an hour. Great job by the team here read more

Texas State Optical - Entrance - Optometrists Near Me - Austin, Texas

The office was clean, professional, and busy. I got the wrong prescription and was unable to see correctly for 13 months. I went back and suggested that prescription was off. I was meeting with a disrespectful front desk clerk, she said maybe it was my glaucoma in front of a full office! hello Hippa viola . I was finally allowed a second eye test with the same results, I've suffered for 13 months until I found Dr.Jason Reed at Eye Mart Express in South Park Meadows. I can finally see clearly and I can even read with contacts on. Have you heard about reverse racism? Well it's true and I feel like maybe because my eyes are light I wasn't prescribed properly but had a really bad experience, so good luck y'all. read more

The service is fine for an eye exam and glasses prescription but the quality of their lenses are bad. I ordered antiglare and took them back twice because I was not happy with them. I changed to a different lense package and still have an ugly glare. My Costco antiglare lenses were much better than these. I do not want to go back a third time so I have resorted to dealing with it. I do not recommend buying glasses here. read more

All the staff were amazing. I just moved here from Seattle recently and the people were super welcoming and friendly. They gave me a bunch of places to check out and other suggestions in Austin. My wait time was short, and my appointment was seamless! read more

During my first visit: - I wait 2 hours to be seen. -The doctor was quoting car insurance during my visit. - I have no trust in the service provided and will get a 2nd appointment with someone else. After writing this review the office reached out and offered a 2nd visit with another doctor. I accepted, and my second visit was acceptable and the doctor was focused on the service he was providing. read more

Very bad service. They don't have costumer service. I waited more for the doctor to come in than the time he was in there checking my eyes, to the point he didn't even close the door for patient confidentiality. Also, they didn't even check my eye pressure because their machine was not working and that's one of the most crucial thing in an eye exam. I would not recommend to go there!! read more

My first time in and they took such great care of me. All the staff was patient and friendly and made me feel really comfortable while testing contacts! They got my right in for my appointment time and everything was very efficient. read more

This is the rudest optical center I have ever encountered. The lady at the desk demanded that I have a mask on when I didn't have one with me.. yet she had none that she should give me. It is very clear by her tone that she doesn't care about the reputation of this business nor the paycheck it gives her. If you require masks, then you should provide them. Even if you HAVE to sell them. read more

Very nice staff in the front desk. They were polite and squeezed me in to see the doctor after my online appointment didn't go through. Dr. Ruiz was patient with all of my questions and made me feel comfortable. It's hard to take all of the tests with a mask because the equipment fogs but the doctor was great. read more

I hate this place with a passion! called up to make an appointment 2 days before. they got all my insurance info and the Dr. i requested. when i got there i was advised i was at the wrong place and had me walk around block, when i called back up they said are you the person that just came in? then when i finally walked back they said the dr. i requested hasnt worked there in years! it would have been nice to know 2 days ago when i CALLED!!! then they said that my insurance card was canceled to i had to call the insurance company and they said i am still active! so after them calling with the insurance company for 30 mins i was just like if it is too much trouble for you i can just go somewhere else and the receptionist said i am helping a customer!!! WTF am i am plumber fixing their toilet? i just got my cards and left.. i do NOT recommend this place at ALL!! DON'T GO read more

Great staff Great selection of glasses I do think they need to inform self pay patients how much they will pay because it's more than just an $89 exam fee...... Also I think the staff can do better with informing patients if the doctor is running behind. My 1st time was supposed to be with my daughter but it seemed like the office was overbooked because it took longer than expected and I ended up rescheduling my appointment. Other than those 2 little things I LOVED THE STAFF they were VERY kind and helpful. read more

Had a thorough examination but experienced some issues with billing afterwards, however Yolanda was able to clear up any issues and provide excellent customer service. I've been a customer of Texas State Optical for years. Dr. Tom Wilkins and his staff at both of his locations have always been courteous and prompt with seeing me at my scheduled appointment times. My wife and I both use their services and whether its for a contact re-order or our yearly eye exam, they take care of our eye care needs. read more

Been a patient at TSO Riverside for a while now and my experience has been amazing. All the staff is welcoming and helpful always. Had an appointment today and Josie my assistant was very sweet! Dr. Ruiz is very nice and knowledgeable! Recommend this place to everyone for their eye care needs! read more

Had an appointment at 915am waited in the lobby for 30 min before the assistant did the air puff contact thing and retinal scanning, then waited in the exam room for another 30 min. Ok I get wait times, frustrating but kinda goes with territory I guess. What was the kicker is they said that my contacts was not covered and I would have to pay out of pocket. I told them that doesn't right and this should have been disclosed when I set up the appointment. She was like well we don't know what contact your getting when you do this. I told them that's not true, when you do an appointment with them they send the pre-appointment paper work and in that you list what contacts you want. I said what paid the minimum for contacts. Still was like $115 for contacts. I walked out to my truck immediately called my insurance. They said that doesn't sound right, they called TSO and they were not using any of contact lens credit that was $150.00. I was super frustrated, I should not have to go to the lengths of disputing my coverage to the professionals. You wonder how many have been way over charged because they didn't understand the policies they take or maybe it's tactic to milk money out of the clientele. I can see this happening since it is in an area with predominantly Hispanic population, including myself, that most likely wouldn't take the additional step of confirming with my insurance company. If you have been there recently and feel like you where charged too much, I encourage you to call your insurance company with your receipt to confirm you were billed correctly. read more

I brought my husband and stepson here for annual eye exams, and everything went very smoothly. My stepson had a hard time focusing for one of the scans, and the staff was encouraging and incredibly patient with him. They explained everything thoroughly, were kind and quick, and I'll be returning to this location for future visits. read more

Before I forget her name I have to mention Jenny (hope that's the right spelling) and the other wonderful women in this office! Jenny took my appointment and even had the insurance ready when I arrived. She was charming, funny, professional, and efficient. The entire staff was amazing and patient with me. They are incredibly clean at this office. The young lady that did my exams wiped everything down with alcohol before I even sat down. She did it almost like a reflex, not a procedure. She was great! The Dr. was perfect. He didn't do the "1 or 2" thing with me. I told him I could identify the shape of the letter but that it wasn't clear...he got it! He explained my vision limitations to me and made recommendations to me. I scheduled a contact fitting but he said it wasn't suited for me and recommended glasses. I appreciated his honesty and integrity not trying to sell me something that wouldn't work best for me. Y'all, it's a great place and the staff is amazing. They love what they do and it shows. So very happy! read more

Wins: - Central location - Walk ins accepted Opportunities: - It took 6 weeks for them to complete my prescription glasses order when I was originally told it would be 1-2 weeks. - No one in the office took any accountability. - When I asked for a refund after waiting 4.5 weeks (hadn't received my glasses), they told me that wasn't an option because they had already paid the lab. - I was double charged for an eye exam and it took 6 weeks to receive a refund. BLUF: If you value your time and money, you should consider going elsewhere. read more

I would like to share my experience at Texas State optical on E. Riverside Dr. I want to thank the doctor as well as the office manager and staff for such outstanding service that they give me and continue to give me. I would highly recommend using this location for your next appointment glasses or contacts. I especially like that they are so prompt and getting it taken care of the doctor is very caring and listens to every complaint you have and fixes everything that you come in for. I wouldn't change my doctor for any one else. I'd like to add this place is always so clean and fresh smelling everyone is so respectful and polite especially the office manager Yoli. Thank you for such great service he will continue to have me as a customer/ patient .Keep rocking on !!!! read more

It was hot in there but Carlos, the assistant, made everything great with his gentle way about him, genuine interest and personable attitude. I felt like we were best friends as soon as I met him, and he said my eyes were super gorgeous! The girls were so friendly and loved helping me find frames, they said it was their favorite part of the job, helping people from frames. They could have had a bigger selection but this is a small store. I'll go back! read more

Didn't really seem like they knew what they were doing. Wasted my contact premium there for contacts that aren't right. As soon as I put them in everything is blurry... I also said my eyes are super sore, dry and red in the morning, the dr said I probably sleep with my eyes open, which I know isn't the case. He didn't offer any kind of solution, so it's just been something I need to live with, with over the counter drops... and living with blurry contacts. read more

The WHOLE STAFF was so so sweet , sooo patient with me and so helpful. I was taking 40 mins to almost an hr trying to find the right glasses !! I felt like I was annoying them for taking so long but NOPE THEY WERE SOOO PATIENT! even in the beginning they offered to help me look I loved that ! They helped me pick the right glasses that fit perfect and look great on me !! . I definitely recommend this place to anyone trying to get new frames , an exam etc. the wait was literally 3 minutes so fast! They treated me as if I was more than a client(: which I loved very much. They are so respectful and very open minded to others and their problems very understanding people ! The doctor was very patient, he listened to how I felt took it into consideration which is very hard to find in a doctor I feel as if. He was great. The staff up front deserves way more credit than they get!! Such amazing amazing women. May the lord bless this place and everyone that works at this location !!! Stay safe !!(: read more

By far my favorite place to get my annual check up. The reception staff is friendly and informative. Making an appointment is simple and fast- checking in is hassle free and the staff keeps you informed each step of the way. The office is clean and professional. The exam itself is straight forward and efficient. I spent less than 20 minutes (without the pupil dilation) in the office. Dr. Tom Wilkins is friendly and personable. He answers all my questions and takes time to explain (if you ask) the changes in my vision; you can tell he's truly passionate about what he does. I've been going to this office for two years and will continue to come back! We've desperately needed a great optometrist in this area. Pros: clean, friendly, efficient, and great customer service Cons: I can't see. But that's not their fault-they say the pupil dilation should taper off in a few hours. Until then... TBD ;) ---- Update: I can see!! Also the staff helped me pick out the cutest glasses ever! 10/10 would recommend A++ would return read more

No lol we left because your lousy receptionist said you were in a meeting during our appointment time. She then went on to say very rudely, "well either way your insurance won't cover another exam yet so you would have to pay out of pocket!" SHE assumed I wasn't willing to pay and she was just coming up with another reason that we should just leave. I find it interesting that you one took your RUDE employees word for it but on top of that posted an assumption about my ability to pay on this review. You Sir, are obviously inexperienced in professionalism. How dare you make assumptions and try to throw me under the bus like that in retaliation. I'm glad people like us have a way to expose terrible people like you and your business!! read more

Absolute professionals. Friendly and knowledgeable, this team of optical experts exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. I went to this TSO location to pick out my frames and I couldn't have been happier with my experience! Demi was very sweet and patient while I asked to look at a lot of different glasses to see which I liked best. This was my first time ever buying glasses, so I thought it would be a little overwhelming, but it was definitely the opposite and a great experience overall! read more

I was very impressed by the service that Jenny and Bryanna rendered, i walked in on a Monday without an appointment and was seen within minutes by Dr. Huang. Dr. Huang was very patient and knowledgeable. The staff was very courteous they helped me with all my insurance questions and was given options which was great. They have a great variety of frames, I personally love all the Ray Ban section. I decided to stay with my frames as my glasses were still in great shape but decided to replace the lenses. I was told they would be about two weeks before they were ready but to my surprise they were ready next day. i tried them on at the office and they even modified them to my liking within minutes. I am grateful to have my glasses back looking like new. I will be definitely be back. Thank you for the great service! read more
