hands down my favorite place for big portions! i was introduced to this place when i came here for lunch with a few girlfriends. i'd heard of it but never been to one so i was excited to see what the fuss was. first thing you see upon walking in are the copious amounts of peanut shells on the floor. definitely not for those with any sort of nut allergy! i was in lust with this place shortly after our waitress brought us the infamous rolls with the AMAZING cinnamon butter! i swear, i thought i died and went to heaven. i'm not usually one who eats the bread as i like to save room but i think i stuffed myself with the rolls and left little room for my entree. look on the bright side, at least i had a great leftover dinner that night. the ribs are delicious and fall off the bone! i've also had the smothered chicken and the baby blossom (my husband loved this!). though it's extra, try to get your sweet potato "loaded because you won't regret it! who doesn't love a baked sweet potato with marshmellows and cinnamon?!?! read more

This was my first time trying this restaurant. I ordered a 12 oz. Ribeye and Shrimp combo ($24.99)with a Sidekick of Ribs($7.99) w/onions and mushrooms($1.99) and a soda ($2.70). Total $40.40, plus tip of $10.00. I sat at the bar, and my bar tender was very nice and told me all about their menu items. She told me about their rolls that I never recieved. Ordered my ribs without BBQ sauce and they came out with it anyway, my baked potato was incrusted w/pretzel salt, and they add cinnamon to the butter for potatoes, no one mentioned that either. You are supposed to be able to pick out your steak, I was not given that option.The food actually was pretty good. When you consider the price I am undecided on if I would go back. So to start with I had been to another one of these at least 5 or 6 years ago with my parents and although we thought the food was fine my mother just couldn't get over the whole throwing the peanuts on the floor thing and thought it was totally unsanitary so we never went back. Skip ahead 5 years or so and yesterday my boyfriend and I who love BBQ decided to try it. First, they are still doing the whole peanut on the floor thing which makes no sense to me. Things started out well since we got sat right away. The food took awhile for being the only ones there and my only other minor complaint was about the waiter who wasn't quick to clear the table. He brought an extra cup of water but didn't remove the almost empty cup and then brought the food but didn't remove the bread plates. Here's where the review turns bad...about 1/2 through our food I noticed something crawling across the floor and it turned out to be a little mouse. Yes gross, but we live in Boston and these things happen (I guess). I very quietly got a manager and whispered (instead of yelling and freaking out the whole restaurant) telling him that there was a mouse by our table. They came to check it out and moved up to another table. The real manager came out and comped our meal (as he should) and life would have gone on. But here's why I'm writing the review...after the meal was comped I guess they felt that we weren't going to be worth any money and therefore stopped giving us any attention! Our waiter never came back to see if we needed anything. By this point I had indeed lost my appetite and all we wanted was a to go box and some change for a $10 because we were going to do the right thing and still tip the waiter b/c the mouse wasn't his fault. No one paid any attention to us and finally I had to ask a waitress who was working on the other tables for the box and change. She was very friendly. We left a small tip b/c we felt morally obligated too but needless to say, we won't be back. The longer we thought about it the more we thought oh yeah little baby mouse is cute but that means big Mommy is around somewhere as well. Here's the moral, I wasn't going to Yelp this because I figure they will get this under control themselves and as I mentioned we live in Boston, but the whole ignoring our table after you realize we aren't going to be worth any money is beyond wrong and so here's the review. This place is great, but make sure you aren't bringing anyone with any peanut allergies! They give you all the free peanuts you can eat and then you can just throw the shells on the floor. It makes for a great atmosphere. That and the country music and funny dances performed by the staff every half hour. Oh and the food... it is delicious! Try the mashed potatoes, they're awesome. I've been to several Texas Roadhouses in different places. They are always busy. Rolls came out hot and love the honey butter. Ribs were good. Had some tough spots on The edges. The rice was very good. Didn't like the vegetables. It was boiled broccoli and carrots. Service was a little slow but it was very busy. Servers were nice and accommodating. Almost every one else had steak which looked fine. They seemed to enjoy it. Next time I'm trying the blooming onion. read more

I have been coming to Texas Roadhouse every weekend with my fiancé, family and friends and have never had a bad experience until yesterday. I left this restaurant promising myself to never come back because of the treatment I received by manager Meg Lilis. This is the true example of a micromanager that cares a lot about the "line of customer's waiting to be seated" versus the experience she provides to her guests. We called ahead for seating at 8:57pm on Saturday night and we were told the wait was 20 minutes. We arrived at the restaurant and to our surprise there was only two couples ahead of us. The host said we would be seated in a couple minutes. We sat down to wait with our pager as usual and discovered that our friends were in the restaurant. Eager to go say hello, since we had not seen them in a long time, we went to their table. They were paying their bill and leaving, except for one friend, whom we invited to stay with us and have another beer and desert. Once his waiter came to the table I approached her and said. " I have a question to ask, I have been a server before, therefore I do not want to impose on you having to stay and serve us if you are waiting for this table to leave. Just be honest with us and let us know what time you are planning to go home because we will just wait for our own table if that's the case. But if you are staying until late would you mind serving us? She responded by saying she would not leave until probably twelve and that she would't mind serving us as long as we were ordering food. When my fiancé returned to the table me and my friend had already consolidated all the plates to the corner of the table for the server, because we were trying to be considerate with her since she let us sit on the table. He asked us if he should return the pager and I said yes. My fiancé walked to the host and said that we had met a friend and we were sitting in his table. She never mentioned to us that this was not allowed, and took our pager. At this point it was close to 9:30pm and we were most likely next in line to be seated. The waiter took about 15 minutes to return to the table. A wait that we were fine with since we were catching up with our friend. After the waiter returned I was ready to put my drink and food order in and so was my fiancé, we always order the same meal. She came to the table and said. "I am not trying to be mean or anything, but I can't let you guys sit on this table and I can't serve you." I was surprised with her reaction as she seemed annoyed and I knew I had done my best to threat her well. I knew that she was not annoyed with me and probably mad at someone in the staff. Being a server before I was fine with this and ready to wait for the next available table. However, we were told that we had to go to the back of the line since we had returned our pager. I thought this was absurd and a lack of consideration to our time. We asked to speak to the manager in hopes that she would resolve the issue and either let us sit on the table or get us the next available table. But to our surprise we had an nightmare experience with this manager. We pointed out that we had called at 8:57pm. Her response to us was that a lot of people were trying to cut the line by meeting friends at the restaurant and they were trying to stop that from happening. I pointed out to her that we came every weekend, and always gladly waited for our table, but in this circumstance we thought it would be ok to sit with our friend. I also pointed out that no one in her staff told us anything up until now. It was 9:45pm now and she insisted that we had to go back to the line and wait for a table, adding that she would love for us to stay and have a delicious meal. I thought this situation was beyond ridiculous. I have not only been a server before but also a manager before and I can honestly say I have never treated any of my guests like Ms. Lilis was treating not only me but my party. Let me make this clear we were not trying to take advantage of the other guests waiting to be seated. We had called at 8:57 and it was now 9:45 and we had been treated like teenagers trying to cut the line, when in reality our table was given away to someone that had arrived long after us. Instead of offering to give us the next available table, which I would have been fine with, manager Lilis told us we had to go to the back of the line in order to be served. At no point this manager expressed any consideration to the time we had waited or the fact that we were weekly customer's to this restaurant. I left this restaurant that night without a meal and astonished at the response I received from Ms. Lilis. I was certainly not treated as a valued customer. This year I will be telling my family that we no longer want Texas Roadhouse gift cards for Christmas because I honestly don't think I will be returning to this restaurant. read more

I do not like to leave negative review, especially for a place that I had been a pleased customer for many years, I used to bring family and friends and recommended this place to them too. I always had it in high regard, a friendly place to eat with good food. BUT, I visited it today with my family in law that were visiting us from outside of the country. Customer service was bad.I was not sure about to put the waiter name, I should, I really wanted to, so she can learn how to do her job. She was rude, and was ignoring us. I had to ask 3 times for silverware and straws and she had a bad attitude when she was asked for anything. It would not be fair to say this is their standard customer service, but their management should watch out closely some waiter performance. Went there with the family for a Friday night dinner. Sure, it was Dec. 30 so it was crowded. That was not a problem in general. I think they managed it really well. We could select our one hand-cut steaks. Waiter was friendly and prompt. But what matters most, the beef, was really tender and cooked as requested. Yes, it's a chain restaurant without the chain treatment. I have NEVER had a bad meal at this restaurant. We've always got what we ordered and never had any mistakes. Our soda / waters are replaced without asking, prior to being empty. From the cinnamon rolls, to the appetizers and entrees all were as expected. It's a great value for the dollar. The steak kabobs are my favorite - crisp veggies with the steak kabobs and the marinade has a kick served over rice. Healthy and delicous! Wait staff seem like they actually like working there which makes the dining experience more pleasurable. Love this place! read more

We had a great server, Sara, who anticipated everything we could ever need and was quick as well. She brought us like 20 rolls which are amazing there if you've never had them. At the end of dinner, we had the bills split and she made a big deal about how one of us got to use her special pen. Back when I was serving tables, I always had my special pen which I would use to take orders. It was an expensive pen that always wrote no matter what and I would refuse to start my shift unless I had it (or one exactly like it). I never gave it to guests as they would steal it. It was just one of those eccentricities of me serving tables. Anyway, so I thought this was quite a special thing indeed that she gave me her special pen. So I go to sign the credit card slip and the pen won't come out. I tried twisting it and nothing happened. I went to click it again and I felt something in my hand. Turns out, her special pen is special cause it was in fact, not a pen at all but a shocker. I was getting a mild electric shock each time I pressed it. It reminded me of the time I accidentally touched both sides of the flash capacitor in my camera while trying to fix it. All the wait staff had a good laugh and so did all my friends. Food was good but our waitress was horribly dumb & kept forgetting requests we'd made (like cherries in my coke & extra butter for my rolls). I don't know if she was high or kept running into the bathroom to cake on more make-up to the nasty, oozing cold sore on her lip. I nearly lost my appetite & trying to order my food I had to avoid looking at her & instead stare down at the menu. GROSS! I always went there for the salmon, it was the best. Have not been back in almost 3 years because last time I was there the waitress ran, LITERALLY RAN after us to say that the tip was missing. I was so embarassed that she did that in front of a line of people that I took the only 10 I had and gave her, later realized that I did not have money to pay for tolls, which prompted me to take the long was home all the way to Framingham. We were a group of 5 and we simply forgot to leave a tip because it was so confusing the division of the bill, of course we would have left a tip on the card, but I guess none of us were paying much attention. If the waitress had paid attention and put 3 separate order like we asked nothing like that would have happened, so, I wasn't even sure what to make of the situation. The food is delicious, I used to go every couple of weeks while visiting my brother-in-law and his wife, but after the tip fiasco I was annoyed and embarassed. I have been coming here since it opened, the wait staff use to be amazing, the service awesome and the food terrific. The last 3 months, I have been refused peanuts to take out, for varying lame reasons, charged for extra bread and told it was "Policy" and then when it came to tip time, then they wanted to help me bag the remains I just wanted to throw away. The Chicken critters use to be fabulous, now the last few times they were stone hard and cold, the fish and chips tasted frozen, and they are still serving mac and cheese where if you have an older child, you have to pay for two dinners instead of paying for just a side. And again that is "policy". Instead of the wait staff telling the manager there is and issue, they want you to ask to speak to them. Any good server will walk over and tell them there is a problem. Then when I asked for rolls on the way out and they said if you got them at the table they are free, and I said I was refused, she went in the back, and a girl came out and said how many do you wish to buy???????????? you have to be kidding me. But I am sure I would have been told that is "policy". Texas Road house, you are facing your demise, if i want to be given bad food, treated like a second class citizen and charged 15.99 for a hand ful of shrimp over rice, I will take my money and my 2 times a week patronage to someone who actually cares to keep there food and service consistent. read more

I can go on and on about this place. I will say this restaurant is the best "bang for your buck" place. I have gone numerous times. The food is not expensive at all and I have never had to complain about it. They give you a ton of food. I usually get either the chicken critter dinner with house salad and chili or the chicken critter salad. I have ordered other things which were good too but these are my favorites. With the dinners, you have that plus 2 sides. So much food. The dinner salads are huge and the salad is always fresh. For appetizers I get either the blooming onion or the rattlesnake bites. The sweet bread and cinnamon butter is too good. The drinks there are not expensive either. They make a mean margarita. I usually get the patron frozen margarita. The servers are always polite, but the new people tend to sound really "robot-ish" like they have a training script lol but they are just doing what they are told. I never expected to like something called a roadhouse, with peanuts on the floor, but I do. They have a chicken critters salad which is my favorite. I have also tried their ribs, which are flavorful, and their meats. My husband really enjoys their string bean side dish. The decor is strange to someone used to new england dining, but once you get used to the peanuts, its fine. It's a lodge feel with antelope and deer heads around the restaurant, but at least nothing talks. One thing to note: I have tried to get take-out from here on a number of occasions and they consistently mess it up by taking forever or not doing the specifications that I ask for. If you are going to risk it, check the bag before you leave the parking lot. read more

Expect a long wait even if it's empty - I came here Tuesday 1/24 at 520 and was surprised when the hostess said " there will be a 10 minute wait" but I waited. The couple after us was also surprised when she was told there was a 15 minute wait "but if you wait at the bar, its first come first served" - the woman looked around the empty restaurant and says " but all the tables are empty- why can't we sit at one of those tables?" The hostess responds " we can only sit you at certain tables" - the woman sighs and either leaves or goes to the bar. Ten minutes later, our buzzer goes off. That want too bad I thought but the hostess says, " we're still waiting for your table". We stand there awkwardly in the way for 5 minutes and finally sit back Down, 5 minutes later, a hostess approaches and seats us and it's then that I see what the irate woman saw: the restaurant is empty, less than half full. They must be short staffed I thought but no, there seems to be more workers than patrons and most are just talking to each other idling, obviously filling the time. I am also bored at this point so I sit up a little and start counting employees vs customers and it seems to be about even if you count little kids - dozens of extra employees but they are making people wait and turning people away? The food comes out super quick and it's what you expect if you come here plentiful and salty but I'm not critiquing the food. Most times when I come here, I ask " how long is the wait?" And I'm told Half and hour so I go eat elsewhere. The food here is decent but not worth waiting 20 minutes and it's really aggravating to know you're waiting for nothing. read more

I'm totally losing all hip foodie points with some of our latest reviews. Applebee's and Texas Roadhouse? Not the latest inspirational spots of cuisines, but hey, sometimes you gotta go chain even if you don't wanna. So it's a Sunday after mass and we have to go to Everett to go to Target and Michaels...I never said our lives were interesting. Our eating options are TGI Fridays, Panera Bread, Chuck E Cheese, or Texas Roadhouse. I think as nearly as badly of TGI Fridays as I do as Applebee's so that's out. We don't want to look like pedophiles, so Chuck E Cheese is out. I actually do like Panera Bread, but soup and sandwich wasn't going to cut it. Texas Roadhouse...a chain that we've had just as many decent meals as bad ones. Time to roll the dice once more. We enter and are seated in the bar area immedietly. So that's nice, no wait. Peanut shells everywhere. Hey, that's ok, this is the type of place we are in. I'm ok with that. While the peanut shells are a well known advertised gimmick here, the automatic feeling that you are the thinnest, most in shape person in the whole restaurant isn't as well known. Things are larger in Texas, and at Texas Roadhouse so is the clientele. Kids who have to be 10 years or younger must have weighed more than Abby and myself combined. At least all the young waitstaff were thin, leading one to believe that they don't dine at the establishment that they work at. (The kicker to all this was the large group of high school cheerleaders that were having lunch at the same time as us. Now when you think high school cheerleaders, you think hot thin girls right? Ali Larter putting whip cream all over her body type of girls. I don't know what high school these girls were from, but their entire cheerleading squad comprised of the bottom of the pyramid type of girls. Things have changed since I've been in high school, and equal opportunity is really at work here.) Oh wait, I'm suppose to be talking about the food...sorry...I get distracted when things like cheerleaders are involved. I have to admit it: the rolls here are consistently good. Very buttery and very moist. They are on the sweet side and are served with a cinnamon butter spread that some people love. I think they are good without the spread though. The portions at Texas Roadhouse are incredible. Every meal gets 2 full sides. The prices are equally as incredible, with some steaks under $9.99. I get the country fried sirloin (chicken fried steak is what I call it) and Abby goes for something called the Roadkill. We both start with a salad and I probably could have just had this for lunch. This is no small side salad. As far as salads go, it's a decent salad. If you went to any cafeteria and got a salad with egg and cheese and tomatoes, it'll probably come up basically the same. It's not great, but it's definitely not bad. My chicken fried steak came with a cream gravy (though you could have gotten a brown gravy instead) and with a baked potato. Again, nothing great, but it wasn't bad at all. I mean, look at the size of the freaking thing! If this doesn't fill you up, then nothing will. I remember last time getting the same order and it being salty beyond belief, but this time it had all the right flavors and wasn't bad at all. Abby's Roadkill came out to be basically a bun-less burger. She said it tasted good and her veggies weren't bad mainly because they were made with a lot of butter. Texas Roadhouse isn't bad at all, as far as chains go. You definitely get your money's worth and during a time like now with our economy in the crapper, that's a big plus. This review is solely on customer service. I've been going there for years and I love their food, their drinks, THE ROLLS!! but...the past two or three times I've gone they've given me broken booster chairs for my 1yr old daughter. When they're out of high chairs they give me boosters and the belts don't work!!! This is very frustrating because my daughter keeps sliding out of the chair. I complained and they brought me another booster seat and it was still broken, I just made a knot and gave up. Also, our server offered to bring us more rolls-but never came back! oh and the strawberry cooler which comes in a silly boot glass -has no refills??what the crap?? it's tastes the same as the strawberry lemonade!!! My boyfriend and I go here at least once a month and we love it. The prices are very good, especially compared to the more expensive steakhouses in Boston, and the food is consistently VERY GOOD (and I *cannot* say that for more expensive Boston steakhouses). We've always gotten great service and the waiters are always super friendly and seem to be in a good mood. The manager on duty also often comes by to check on us after we get our food which is a nice touch. They are willing to cut larger steak portions if available. While the menu states that the largest prime rib is 16 oz, my boyfriend always orders the 24 oz and we've never had a problem getting it. The one thing I would say that I dislike (and it's not enough to take off a star) is that the bar is a bit too small for my liking since it's always pretty difficult to get a seat. For watching games at the bar we usually head next door to TGI Friday's instead since they have a much larger bar. They also don't seem to ever have drink specials as far as I can tell. First time at Texas Roadhouse. It was very crowded since it was a weekend night but the staff was friendly. They gave us the option of choosing our steak but we opted not to. The first thing they served us was the wonderful dinner rolls. They were so buttery (maybe a little too much so) and the cinnamon butter was a nice surprise. Melted in my mouth. We ordered the onion blossom which looked really cool and tasted great. Definitely do not come here if you are on a diet because everything is very oily and heavy. When they say loaded potatoes, they mean it. I got the loaded sweet potato with brown sugar and melted marshmallow. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't know that was a thing. Anyway, service is good, and food is good but very filling. I was way too full to even consider dessert. Probably would only go there if I was feeling for a good heavy meal. read more

Went to TRH today and ordered a blooming onion with extra dip for an appetizer. When we got it there was no extra dip. Also got a garden salad and asked for extra dressing. When it arrived there was no extra dressing. For an entree I ordered a filet with a side of mushrooms and mashed potatoes. When it arrived there were no mushrooms and the mashed potatoes were cold and had hard chunks of potatoes in it. There was a pool of congealed cold butter sitting on top. Rather than have them take them back I just didn't eat them. I didn't want the person I was eating with to be sitting there waiting for me. I asked for my sirloin to be cooked medium well. A little pink...I got it very well done no pink at all. the baked potatoes were way too salty. My friend had hair in his food, that ruined my appetite. The waitress did not seem to want to help us. We were not even asked if we wanted more bread. Theres a lot of people working, walking around the restaurant but they don't seem to want to help. They just walk away from you....Quality of the food and service has dropped significantly...
