This was disappointing to say the least. I wanted to support Haitian restaurants on Haitian Flag Day so I'm like, let me order from one of the most popular Haitian restaurants in Massachusetts. To be quite honest, the food was very subpar and lacked authentic Haitian flavor. To make matters worse, the quantity was disappointing as you can see in the photos attached. $24 plate of meatballs with only four burnt meatballs and overfilled rice that didn't even take authentic? Also, I ordered beef legume and it definitely had pork in it and the pork didn't taste good. The food was not properly secure so the sauce fell in the bag on the way to me via DoorDash. I would honestly say if you are craving Haitian food that tastes like your family made it, you might want to go somewhere else. I really enjoyed my food from La Perle. My favorite Haitian restaurant on this side of town closed so we decide to try a new spot. It didn't disappoint. The first thing that made me happy was grilled goat since many of the meats are typically fried. The grilled goat was fantastic. The flavor and the sauce were so good. The rice was also pretty good. The griot was soft and seasoned well. The rice was soft and flavorful. My other favorite part of the meal with the legume. It was so good that I went back to get more a few days later! The prices are a little high and the wait can be long, which is why it's a 4 and not a 5. Overall, we really enjoyed this place and we'll be back. I highly recommend if you're looking for good Haitian on this side of town. read more

Best Haitian food in Boston! I La Perle hosted a large group of students visiting for a college tour and their hospitality did not disappoint. I got there an hour before the group and ordered a drink and the coconut shrimp. The shrimp was perfect and the sauce complimented it well. When the group showed up, we were served food buffet style and I wish I could eat like that everyday. We had all of the Haitian staples and it all so delicious. I can't wait to go again! read more

I just wanted to share a bit more detail about the catering experience from la perle restaurant i had recently when organising food for an event with around 30 people .Honestely , it turned out to be a complete nightmare. From the start , i was hopeful because i had a thorough discussion with the owner about the menu, and she seemed confident and assured that she had everything under control.However, things didn't go as planned at all .the food itself was really poor quality and not what i had expected based on our conversations. Before placing the order, i even took some time to look at the reviews online , and i wasn't exactly blown away by what people had said either.I decided to call the owner once more to go over the menu in detail , just to double check everything and make sure there would'nt be any issues.During that call, she insisted that payment was required straight away, claiming it was company policy , which honestly raised a few red flags for me .It made a bit uneasy, but i went ahead anyway because i just wanted the event to run smoothly. so eventually , i placed the order , the food was delivered , and i paid as requested .Unfortunately , despite all the initial arrangements and reassurances , the overall experience was dreadful. The food quality was subpar and didn't meet the standards i was expecting at all . because all of this , i would not recommend ordering from that restaurant to anyone . This place has been on my list for a very long time and boy it did not disappoint! The vibes, the decor, everything is on point! I was there with a Haitian friend and she recommended to try the Lambi (conch) with sauce. It came with salad, pickled cabbage and plantains. We also got a side of black rice and coconut shrimp to share. I also got a passion fruit juice. The food was 10/10, Haitian approved. The dishes were so flavourful and little on the spicy side. I typically do not leave reviews on Yelp. This was my second time eating at La Perle. Last night, I ordered a fried red snapper with black rice and fried plantains with salad. As a Haitian, I know my people's food. When I arrived home with my order, I noticed the fish was burnt around the edges and inside. It seems the fish was fried in recycled oil (old oil). When I tasted the fish, there was little flavor to it. The black rice was dry and grainy...so disappointing since black rice is our country's staple. For my salad, I received a leaf of lettuce and two slices of tomatoes, HAHA. I always want to support local businesses, especially black owned businesses, but I'll have to pass on this restaurant. They need a revamp the food and presentation. This was my second time patronizing them. The first time I had their plantain burger and I wasn't impressed. Again, not flavorful. I didn't write a review then because I assumed they were having a bad evening with burgers. But, recently, on a Friday night, the food should be on point. read more

Soooo we are the only ones in the store when we arrived excluding the 3 at the bar , we were a party of 5 the bill came to $249 and the lady did not want me to see it hummmm , anyways the food was good except the legume was crazy salty and one crab claw inside that we had to break ourselves ,,, the goat and turkey were plentiful and great the drinks were very small to be $20 each we had 4 ,,, the server was nice but not that attentive ,,, at least now we know what to expect ..... now we will order the goat and Turkey because we know that's good and most likely have drinks elsewhere,,, also gratuity was automatically added and they did not tell us this is something I had to see for myself on the bill then we split the check in two and it appeared like she added the $38 tip to each check like really ,,, I would recommend only take out from here read more

Wow, the food was good! I heard this place has been historically known for delayed service despite ordering ahead so we ordered 30 minutes ahead. Thankfully it was ready by the time my friend and I did a pick up. It was my first time having Haitian food and I loved it! We had the smoked herring spaghetti -- kind of like a dry pasta which had so much flavor and I'm not usually a fish person. My friend had the fried turkey and myself the legumes. The pikliz got me though--the tang and spice is what got me. I actually really liked the combo of the blended black beans, the sauce, and the rice (slightly salted) and the pikliz to cut through all of it. I'll be back when I visit! read more

The Legume was perfectly flavored as was the baked macaroni and fried Accra. I found the service to be rather prompt and especially hospitable. The owner was in and shared her journey in building her business, and the precision required to prepare authentic Haitian dishes. It felt like a community centered establishment, which I loved. We ordered the conch ceviche and it was horrible. It was dry and rubbery, no sauce or flavor. They had a "special" supposedly supposed to be lobster mac and cheese, not 1 piece of Lobster was in it. And literally both of those orders fit in the palm of my hand it was ridiculous. The waitstaff was not much better..... I have been there previously and the waitress at that time was great! I've been here about 5 times. Usually there are not a lot of people so the service wasn't noticeably bad so I decided to take my mom here to celebrate her birthday. If I realized they could not handle a large group of customers (party of 11) I would have taken my mother elsewhere. I am big on customer service and customer experience. Our waitress who I've had serve me several times previously is just.....(I don't have a nice word for it) but a few examples are we'll make a request and she returns and asks us what we asked from her after 20/25 minutes. She'll ask us questions that don't make sense. While sitting down to dine in she is taking our order and when my fiancé says the type of rice he wants she asks if it's to go? Why would only one item we order be to go if we're dining in???? My last straw was last night for my mothers birthday celebration we arrive on time for our reservation and the host says no one told her about a party of 11. I had email confirmation. They proceed to set up while we wait. I brought in an ice cream cake and told this same waitress from above to put it in the freezer. 2 hours later when we are ready to sing Happy Birthday she tells us no one put it in the freezer or fridge so it's melted. She offers us a cake they have and will bring out. They bring out a SLICE.....just for my mom. I brought an entire cake for everyone to enjoy and they thought a fair substitute would be 1 slice for the birthday person. No apology from the owner of the restaurant. We ask if the rest of the table can have cake she says that's the best they can do. We ask to remove the value of the cake off the check and she hands us cash for the value of the cake that was ruined minus the value of the "free" cake slice they gave us. I will not be returning. I can say the food is good but customer service matters sooooo much more to me. Having out of towners and family coming to celebrate my mother birthday this was embarrassing. As an owner you apologize for any mistake staff make and make it up x10. I've been to restaurants that have messed up a cake and the owner was extremely apologetic, brought us an entire cake, discounted our bill SIGNIFICANTLY (not for the cost of the cake but for the inconvenience), and if we decided to return our next visit would also be discounted. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE and those places are where I'll continue to dine. read more

The food at Le Perle...absolutely delicious!! I ordered the salmon with black bean sauce (it comes with rice, salad, and plantains). Be careful with the pikliz, its spicy, but such a great addition to the food. I ordered extra :) I had leftovers and the food tasted just as delicious from when I first ordered it! I ended up visiting on Haitians Mothers Day so there were a lot of families there. The vibe is fit for any age during the day. I do plan to go back at night to see if there is a difference. Everyone was kind, friendly, and attentive! The owner even took my friends and I to the outside seating to enjoy the nice weather and set up. Ordered tacos and legume: the tacos were horribly put together, super greasy and was missing almost everything it said in the item description. the beef tacos were good but super greasy and sloppy. the legume was alright, not sure if they had a new chef or whatever the case was but WOW WAS THAT FOOD SALTY. the black bean sauce (saus pwa) was so salty we couldn't even eat it. Ended up throwing the whole plate of food away !! the only super good thing was the passion fruit juice, i'd definitely come back for that and it's the only reason they received a 2 star. the girl helping me was nice but was more interested in being on the phone call she was on. but hey the restaurant was empty and i get that but no headphones or anything. i wish i took pictures of the food but we literally threw it away not long after getting/tasting it...what a waste of money read more

My sister and I was harassed by the men who were in there . We came in and was seated . As soon as we sit down, a man came up to us and kept trying to pressure us into having drinks which we continued to say we were okay and didn't want any . He got the hint and walked off respectfully. Not even a min later here comes two other men . We aren't entertaining them and they took it upon themselves to sit down. The waiter gives them a menu at OUR table knowing we did not know these men cause we entered about 15-20mins before them . Felt very weird. We told the waiter we did not want them sitting at our table and she shrugged her shoulders and walked off . So my sister and I got up and left . It got to the point where I was saying I was calling the police . This was my 2nd time here . First time it was daytime and the food was good . This time we went at night , placed our order and didn't get to eat because we were harassed smh . We didn't feel safe . We were covered up completely, not that that should matter but just an FYI . The feel felt like the waiter knew what was happening, like these men come here just to do that . The men are at the bar and once women walk in they do not wait . Not even security did anything Spoke with owner . She was made aware of this situation and I was told it was handled appropriately. I also was made aware that our waiter didn't understand much English . So thanks to her on that part . I do not want to discredit the food and the place . I would give this zero stars if I could. Slow and RUDE service. Everything takes forever and the food is so-so. Ambiance is nice but the service is awful. I will never come here and would not recommend this place to ANYONE. Spend your money elsewhere, they will not be around much longer. All of their money was invested on fancy lighting when they couldn't even get orders out in a reasonable time and train staff to be friendly and greet guests immediately. NOBODY WAS THERE. I ordered from this restaurant last month. My total was $38.00. When I went to get the food, I was told to wait. This was an hour after I ordered my food. After 30 minutes of waiting I was told they never got my order. I left the restaurant and when I got home my credit card was charged $79.00 for an order I never received and was not even charged the correct price of the order. I have yet to be reimbursed from the restaurant. This is fraud and I am reporting this to the Attorney General. read more
