    Goat curry
    Tuli S.

Got Uber eats and it was so good!! Everything was hot (even the beef patty). It was my first time trying this spot and it was a great experience. I ordered the goat curry with stewed vegetables and a beef patty. The meal was $25 (extra $3 for the veggies) and the patty was $5. Little pricey but I think delivery always costs more than in store.

I had high hopes for this place and was even recommended by a friend. Came in and needed some time to order so we weren't ready at the counter the first time. But then the original cashier never came back around. I ordered plate of jerk chicken with 2 sides that came with so I chose fries and Mac n cheese. For the second plate, ordered steak tips with vegetable curry as a side and steamed cabbage. There are certain items as side that they charge extra according to the menu but I think I got charged for fries too even though they weren't stated extra. For every plate, only 1 was decently good. The steak was really bad and it was cooked medium. It was SO so tough so the choice steak was extremely cheap. The steam cabbage was so bland. The vegetable curry side was actually good. For the jerk chicken plate, the jerk chicken was stir dinner. It had good flavor and I enjoyed it. It wasn't anything outstanding though. It was also different than normal jerk chicken which is usually dry rub but this one is more saucy. Mac n cheese was terrible. Bland and absolutely not flavor besides cheese. Fries were actually good as well. Overall, wouldn't come back to this JP location at least. Service wasn't there, food was subpar especially if each plate was $20

boneless jerk chicken, white rice, fire roasted vegetables

I'm currently working in the area and I heard good things about this place so I decided to grab a meal. This was my first time, but it certainly won't be my last. The location is super convenient, literally steps away from Jackson Sq T stop. You order/pay at the counter first, then the server goes down the line and scoops food into a takeout container. I'm not sure if it was always packaged like this pre-covid, but they seem to also be open for dine-in now as the chairs were set up. No one was dining in when I went though (~4:15pm on a Monday). I ordered the boneless jerk chicken, white rice, and fire roasted vegetables. The flavor is *chef's kiss* amazing. I'm no expert on Jamaican food so I can't speak to its authenticity or anything, but this is just objectively good and very flavorful. The portions are also generous- I was able to stretch this $12 entree into 3 meals (YMMV). Overall, highly recommend. I'll definitely be going back to try some other things on their menu!

Overall: 9/10 Taste: 9/10 - I got the jerk chicken with sides rice and beans and roasted vegetables. The chicken was very flavorful with the sauce and was tender. I liked how the rice had a hint of coconut which complemented the savory chicken very well. The vegetables were roasted very well as you could taste the char on it. Price: 10/10 - The food was a steal as it was $12 for a few plate of food. I skipped lunch going into this meal and was still stuffed afterwards. There portion of meat was also really hefty. Service: 9/10 - The staff there are very friendly and were immediately able to give me recommendations. They also seem very passionate about the food that they make. Ambiance: 8/10 - it is an order at the counter restaurant. There was a few tables which were all clean. My only complaint was that they served everything in disposable items.

Food was great. Team was terrific. Can't believe I had discovered this place sooner, but we'll certainly be back.

Friendly chefs and staff who prepare food with love, seasoning and flavor at Jamaica Mi Hungry. Shrimp can be so hit or miss and I was a bit hesitant to try the garlic shrimp but said yes with the hope that I would be satisfied and I was beyond satisfied. I was fully impressed by the garlic shrimp. The garlic shrimp was perfect. Enjoyed my whole meal and can't wait to return.

    Jerk Chicken, Plantain, corn

Came here for takeout and was not disappointed! I'd been wanting to try this place for a while as I always pass it, but never got the chance until this weekend. They have a good sized menu with many options. I got the jerk chicken and chose the plantains and corn for my sides. The jerk chicken was DELICIOUS. SO flavorful and had a little bit of a kick to it. The plantains were a perfect little something sweet on the side, and who can go wrong with corn on a cob. Overall, really enjoyed my meal here and will definitely be coming back.

    Jerk tofu and 2 sides
    Angelo Z.

I had a coming ! of age ! Moment ! While eating. I got the jerk tofu + sweet plantains and rice and beans (two sides of your choice are included) = $13. The tofu is such a nice texture, I was tempted to get the jerk chicken but you wouldn't be missing out on much if you get the tofu - it's incredible. There's a good kick of spice to the sauce. I didn't try the other sides but as someone who's picky about rice, I can say they did not miss. Came when it wasn't too busy and food came out piping hot, so fresh!! Serving size perfect. Street parking right outside. Not overhyped. Do yourself a favor take a 20 min walking detour like I did

I've never had Jamaican food before so I'm definitely not an export. But this spot definitely wowed me. The free parking in the back and the kind people working here don't hurt either. In terms of food, I got a beef/cheese Jamaican patty (SOO good and well worth the low price). I also got the jerk chicken which was amazing and wonderfully seasoned. For sides, I got the rice/beans and the Mac and cheese. I definitely loved the Mac since I thought the rice was a little bland. Honestly the combo was enough for 2 meals, so the price overall is very fair. This place is such a winner, and I wish I had decided to stop by sooner.

Coconut shrimp, dill slaw, rice & beans, sauce

This review is actually for the Allston location, which I don't see on here yet, and from the website it's not totally clear if the Allston location is up and running yet. But I went there and they were definitely open. Mainly I wanted to try the coconut shrimp. I came from all the way across town for them and let me tell you they were WORTH IT. Big, fat, juicy shrimp, completely covered in coconut and fried until the coconut is all sweet and crunchy, while the shrimp are still juicy on the inside. Would make the trip again just for those shrimp. Also had the jerk pork shoulder, which I didn't like quite as much as the shrimp, but still good. Actually while the rice & beans were just okay on their own & the pork was okay on its own, combining them so the rice could soak up all the juices turned out to be an absolute power move. Would recommend. The dill slaw was cool and fresh, and the dill was a nice twist. Would pair well with any rich entree. The mac & cheese was just okay. I would order it again, but I'd probably try the rest of the sides on the menu first. Plantains were a little firmer than I usually like, but still very good.

Jamaica mi hungry is a highly accessible way for those that haven't had the pleasure of being indoctrinated into Caribbean cuisine yet to do so. The cost to flavor ratio is incredible. But just because the flavors are friendly to a virgin palate does NOT mean that the flavors are toned down. With an unabashedly spicy kick to many dishes, the fast casual plates at Jamaica Mi Hungry are exciting enough to bring me back many times over.

24.00 for 7 oxtail that are not fall off the bone tender, cooked with onions, thick not so tasty gravy. Skimped on the rice/peas with 10 peas, the plantain is dry AF. I'm soooooo dissapointed. I feel taken advantage of and for that reason alone, I will never eat here again. Yuck! Waste of my hard earned $$.

This place is great for sure better then some of the fast food jamican places in the area. Everything is super flavorful you can tell it's homemade from scratch and not cut corners. Be patient service is extremely slow so if your in a rush you have been warned but man is it worth the wait. The main dishes are amazing the curry and stew sauce is drink worthy. They give you great cuts of meat and don't skimp out. Although they over do it with the rice sides can be a bit bland but come on we come for the meat! Must try the hot sauces!

I appreciated how much this place leans into both cultures from decor showcases both cultures to their balanced menu featuring dishes from both. There is ample seating at this place and dont let the construction outside deter you because they are open. We ordered the cheese manakish to start, and this might have been my favorite dish. Balanced with two types of cheese with a light airy texture to it kept it from feeling too dense. The pita its on is crunchy and thin, and theres a drizzle of sauce, likely some form of pesto, that cuts the flavor making it a truly enjoyable dish. We also ordered the chicken kebabs and roasted jerk chicken. The kebabs were a great portion with tender chicken, some greens, and grains. I personally could have used more tzakai, but thats a personal preference. Overall though, the meal did not feel heavy and I left feeling full but not overtly stuffed which I was happy with. My husband's jerk chicken was a sizable dish. The chicken was tender and fell right off the bone, and the pilaf had a nice flavor to it. Overall we really enjoyed our meals. The service can take some time, but its a super small staff so just be patient.
