    Mandatory Ting!

Recently reopened and this was my first visit after having driven by many times. Very clean interior, clean and organized presentation of the food. Friendly and welcoming staff. I've actually been twice now, so I've tried the jerked chicken and the curried chicken. Both were very tasty and served with generous portions. I enjoyed the rice and peas and the gravy was surprisingly great, also the steamed veggies were very good. I've tried a couple of the patties, but I don't love them. Parking is tight and tough, especially at lunch. They were out of the bbq and conch soup on my second visit, but the menu is rotating based on availability. They are working hard here and I recommend giving them a try.

    Jerk BBQ chicken mini lunch

Tender chicken, plenty of flavor and generous veggies! The mini chicken lunch from 11 am to 3 pm is a steal at $5 for a full lunch of a chicken leg, rice and vegetables. The jerk BBQ is tender and vinegary, while the sweet and spicy was intensely spicy yet fragrant. Beef patty ($2.50) is flaky and delicious. Will be back!

Beef patty. I only eat fish and chicken. Waste of money.

Placed a Uber delivery and received the wrong item. They did not call me to make a decision with my own order. Ruined my mood. Poor customer service from the person answering the phone.

Small Jerk Chicken plate to go w veggie and rice and beans. So good!!!
    Max G.

Had the small jerk chicken plate with rice n beans And veggies. Wow was it tasty. I'd say the best Jamaican food I've had in Massachusetts. The chicken was rich, juicy and flavorful. The jerk has a very potent and tasty blend of spices. It is also quite spicy once you finish eating, it creeps up on you. The small portion was huge, but I guess it should be for 9$. The chicken deff had bones and a good amount of small ones so I know some people wouldn't like that, but it adds to the flavor. The veggies were also very good, almost like a slow stewed collard green, but maybe w some other veggies and chopped up, a good side to cut the spicy meat. I will certainly be back for more jerk chicken plates.

I went to the new location in Stoughton and the woman was so rude. I quietly walked out-never going back.

I got the jerk chicken with fried plantains and rice. The sides were freaking amazing. The fried plantains were so crispy and I could eat them all day. The rice was also delicious because it was a little sweet and had some coconut flavor too. The jerk chicken itself was great. It was more of a saucy jerk chicken instead of a dry rub, but it tasted really tender and flavorful. It was a little pricey for $~18, but I think it's worth it. It was a lot of food and I ended up having leftovers to take home for dinner. A few days later, and I still craved that chicken, plantain, and coconut rice combo. Can't wait to go back!

Some highlights: Garlic shrimp - these were huge and juicy with the perfect amount of garlic flavor. Having this on the rice and beans was heaven on a place and I had several helpings of this! Chicken - this was a little spicy for me, but that's just a personal preference. I could tell that this was well seasoned and people more tolerant to spice would love this - the chicken was still juicy and saucy. This also pairs well with the rice and beans! Plantains - nothing over the top but a nice sweeter bite to balance out the plate. Yummy! Mac n cheese - this was one I wasn't super crazy about - I think a bit more cheese would have been nice here but it wasn't a bad bite. All in all, 4/5 as there were some dishes that didn't blow me away, but the garlic shrimp with the rice and beans is to die for. Would happily have this again or go to the food truck location to order it!

It's a small, family-owned restaurant that's half Filipino and half Jamaican, run by a Filipino Tita and her Jamaican husband. She learned how to cook Jamaican food to remind him of home, which honestly makes the whole place feel even more meaningful. The Filipino dishes I tried were authentic and tasted homemade -- the kind of food that feels like it came straight out of your auntie's kitchen. The Jamaican food was also delicious (I can't personally vouch for authenticity there), but everything we had was flavorful and satisfying. It's a great, casual, order at the counter spot -- and it's right next to a Filipino market, which makes the experience even better. I love supporting small businesses, especially ones that represent my culture. Bright Light is the kind of place that deserves the love.

I appreciated how much this place leans into both cultures from decor showcases both cultures to their balanced menu featuring dishes from both. There is ample seating at this place and dont let the construction outside deter you because they are open. We ordered the cheese manakish to start, and this might have been my favorite dish. Balanced with two types of cheese with a light airy texture to it kept it from feeling too dense. The pita its on is crunchy and thin, and theres a drizzle of sauce, likely some form of pesto, that cuts the flavor making it a truly enjoyable dish. We also ordered the chicken kebabs and roasted jerk chicken. The kebabs were a great portion with tender chicken, some greens, and grains. I personally could have used more tzakai, but thats a personal preference. Overall though, the meal did not feel heavy and I left feeling full but not overtly stuffed which I was happy with. My husband's jerk chicken was a sizable dish. The chicken was tender and fell right off the bone, and the pilaf had a nice flavor to it. Overall we really enjoyed our meals. The service can take some time, but its a super small staff so just be patient.
