Mac n cheese, oxtail, candied yams

Mum Mich has been on my list of places to try for quite some time, so when I found out they were on Uber Eats I was elated. My first impression when the food arrived was that I wished they used containers with separators. I personally don't always want my food touching or the sauces mixing. The oxtail was nice and tender, but I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor. The candied yams were very good, and the mac and cheese was a bit too rich for me, with an overpowering extra-sharp cheddar taste. After finishing my meal, I felt hot and fluttery, which was strange, though I didn't experience any vomiting, I did feel nauseous for a while. Will I return? I'm honestly not sure. But overall, I'm glad I finally got the chance to try it.

I visited this establishment at 4 p.m. on a Saturday. The place was busy and packed, which was a good sign. I was probably in line for 10 minutes total. I ordered an oxtail plate and a curry chicken plate. The person preparing my order was really kind. She smiled and made small talk while fixing my plate. I tried the rice and peas, the macaroni pie, and the oxtail. Everything was flavorful. I loved that the curry had a little bit of heat. The oxtail was tasty, not too fatty, with dark gravy. The kitchen was clean. Checkout was easy. I'll definitely be back to try more Trinidadian options.

The food is fantastic and plentiful, artfully spiced and seasoned. So addictive that if I lived close by I would be in trouble of gaining excessive pounds. I'm smiling just thinking about the ambience, the service and Master Chef Jillian.

Food was just nasty Chicken nasty rice had too much of some kinda seasoning-Mac and cheese literally was just Mac and chunks of cheese unmelted, only thing half good was the cabbage

Ordered online delivery. Order took a little longer than expected but was worth the wait. Authentic food, well seasoned, good portions.

Some highlights: Garlic shrimp - these were huge and juicy with the perfect amount of garlic flavor. Having this on the rice and beans was heaven on a place and I had several helpings of this! Chicken - this was a little spicy for me, but that's just a personal preference. I could tell that this was well seasoned and people more tolerant to spice would love this - the chicken was still juicy and saucy. This also pairs well with the rice and beans! Plantains - nothing over the top but a nice sweeter bite to balance out the plate. Yummy! Mac n cheese - this was one I wasn't super crazy about - I think a bit more cheese would have been nice here but it wasn't a bad bite. All in all, 4/5 as there were some dishes that didn't blow me away, but the garlic shrimp with the rice and beans is to die for. Would happily have this again or go to the food truck location to order it!

Service was quick, seeing as you order from the counter. We ordered the jerk chicken plate with plantains and mac & cheese, and the oxtail plate with curry vegetable stew and rice & beans! The jerk chicken was tender and cooked nicely but wasn't the jerk flavor I was used to. It was a wet sauce instead of a dry rub and kinda tasted like teriyaki...? The plantains were normal, nothing crazy. Mac and cheese was lowkey yum, not too thick. Oxtail was better than the jerk chicken flavor-wise but the meat wasn't cooked as well. The meat didn't fall off the bone like other oxtail does :( The sauce was also a bit thin so it didn't coat the meat as well. The rice & beans were solid, had flavor to it and was even better with the sauce from oxtail. The veggie stew was good too but again, nothing crazy. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal but unsure if I would go again. There are so many other places in/near JP that I would try first. Still, if you're looking for fast casual Jamaican food, check this place out!!

This price range is more close to the city price range. The lamb shank is flavorful, the salad that comes with it is fresh and the dressing is on the sour side, which is appetizing. The conch fritter came out hot and the batter is nice and not greasy. The ambiance is ok, with some jazz music playing in the background. The service is also ok, not extra friendly nor attentive; everyone was just doing their job.

I appreciated how much this place leans into both cultures from decor showcases both cultures to their balanced menu featuring dishes from both. There is ample seating at this place and dont let the construction outside deter you because they are open. We ordered the cheese manakish to start, and this might have been my favorite dish. Balanced with two types of cheese with a light airy texture to it kept it from feeling too dense. The pita its on is crunchy and thin, and theres a drizzle of sauce, likely some form of pesto, that cuts the flavor making it a truly enjoyable dish. We also ordered the chicken kebabs and roasted jerk chicken. The kebabs were a great portion with tender chicken, some greens, and grains. I personally could have used more tzakai, but thats a personal preference. Overall though, the meal did not feel heavy and I left feeling full but not overtly stuffed which I was happy with. My husband's jerk chicken was a sizable dish. The chicken was tender and fell right off the bone, and the pilaf had a nice flavor to it. Overall we really enjoyed our meals. The service can take some time, but its a super small staff so just be patient.
