Please be careful about getting sweets/cake from this location. This is mold on a cake that I bought there.

Got red velvet cake there and it was moldy - see picture. Be careful. Inspect your food before you leave the restaurant if you must go there.

Top ranking! The service was wonderful. The food is delicious. I host the curry shrimp, veggies, and rice and peas. I don't live in Dorchester so unfortunately I problem won't be back for a long while. That's only negative thing I have to say.

I wasn't impressed on my first visit, but I'm so glad I came again. This restaurant is now a favorite thanks to its cleanliness, fresh food, and great taste. I usually get the salmon and rice but the sweet and spicy chicken has been my go-to lately.

Decided to come back and try this location for the second time. Let me start off by saying, I'm pretty sure I got over charged. I ordered medium curry goat with rice and beans, small sweet and spicy chicken with white rice, beef patty, and side order of Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese for $5 and that's how much I got lol legit one tiny scoop. Not worth it. I'm positive my order shouldn't be $45. Make sure to ASK for pricing before ordering. Sweet and spicy chicken 2/5 . Chicken was dry. Curry goat 4/5. Pretty good. Good enough spice. Mac and cheese 1/5. Dry and bland

My first time trying this location, I usually go to the one on Huntington Ave. I do love that the place is spacious and clean. It's also in a convenient area. This one is closer to my house than the other two. Although the food was good, I was a little disappointed in the portions. The other locations are definitely more generous.

Awesome beef and cheese patty. Medium spice imo. Great customer service. Hope I'm back in the area soon

The food was simply amazing! I've ordered takeout twice, and both didn't disappoint! My go-to will have to be the fried pork. I will need to come back on other days to try other items on the menu! Love the rotational menu! Absolutely genius idea because I will be back again soon. The portion is generous and also filling. It may seem moderate when you first take out of the box, but it gets you full very quickly. The first time I ordered a bunch of sides and it was just too much. The second time I sticker with the entrees, there were still a lot of leftovers! The veggie soup was very delicious! Baked chicken was also amazing! There is free street parking right outside, so make it convenient to grab your to go order. Both times the packaging was great, except a small sauce packet leakage the second time around. No big deal. Highly recommend it you try via UberEats or takeout order. It's very small inside the restaurant. Definitely a hole in the wall type of establishment. I didn't even have enough time to look inside because my order was ready to go on the table, but I think there were a couple of small tables. It's definitely more about takeout. Support your local business! I don't think you can put in any orders on their website, but you can call to place your order or try UberEats or other platforms.

Some highlights: Garlic shrimp - these were huge and juicy with the perfect amount of garlic flavor. Having this on the rice and beans was heaven on a place and I had several helpings of this! Chicken - this was a little spicy for me, but that's just a personal preference. I could tell that this was well seasoned and people more tolerant to spice would love this - the chicken was still juicy and saucy. This also pairs well with the rice and beans! Plantains - nothing over the top but a nice sweeter bite to balance out the plate. Yummy! Mac n cheese - this was one I wasn't super crazy about - I think a bit more cheese would have been nice here but it wasn't a bad bite. All in all, 4/5 as there were some dishes that didn't blow me away, but the garlic shrimp with the rice and beans is to die for. Would happily have this again or go to the food truck location to order it!

Service was quick, seeing as you order from the counter. We ordered the jerk chicken plate with plantains and mac & cheese, and the oxtail plate with curry vegetable stew and rice & beans! The jerk chicken was tender and cooked nicely but wasn't the jerk flavor I was used to. It was a wet sauce instead of a dry rub and kinda tasted like teriyaki...? The plantains were normal, nothing crazy. Mac and cheese was lowkey yum, not too thick. Oxtail was better than the jerk chicken flavor-wise but the meat wasn't cooked as well. The meat didn't fall off the bone like other oxtail does :( The sauce was also a bit thin so it didn't coat the meat as well. The rice & beans were solid, had flavor to it and was even better with the sauce from oxtail. The veggie stew was good too but again, nothing crazy. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal but unsure if I would go again. There are so many other places in/near JP that I would try first. Still, if you're looking for fast casual Jamaican food, check this place out!!

It's a small, family-owned restaurant that's half Filipino and half Jamaican, run by a Filipino Tita and her Jamaican husband. She learned how to cook Jamaican food to remind him of home, which honestly makes the whole place feel even more meaningful. The Filipino dishes I tried were authentic and tasted homemade -- the kind of food that feels like it came straight out of your auntie's kitchen. The Jamaican food was also delicious (I can't personally vouch for authenticity there), but everything we had was flavorful and satisfying. It's a great, casual, order at the counter spot -- and it's right next to a Filipino market, which makes the experience even better. I love supporting small businesses, especially ones that represent my culture. Bright Light is the kind of place that deserves the love.

The conch fritter came out hot and the batter is nice and not greasy. The ambiance is ok, with some jazz music playing in the background. I appreciated how much this place leans into both cultures from decor showcases both cultures to their balanced menu featuring dishes from both. There is ample seating at this place and dont let the construction outside deter you because they are open. We ordered the cheese manakish to start, and this might have been my favorite dish. Balanced with two types of cheese with a light airy texture to it kept it from feeling too dense. The pita its on is crunchy and thin, and theres a drizzle of sauce, likely some form of pesto, that cuts the flavor making it a truly enjoyable dish. We also ordered the chicken kebabs and roasted jerk chicken. The kebabs were a great portion with tender chicken, some greens, and grains. I personally could have used more tzakai, but thats a personal preference. Overall though, the meal did not feel heavy and I left feeling full but not overtly stuffed which I was happy with. My husband's jerk chicken was a sizable dish. The chicken was tender and fell right off the bone, and the pilaf had a nice flavor to it. Overall we really enjoyed our meals. The service can take some time, but its a super small staff so just be patient.
