This Cape Verdean restaurant serves very delicious food. Rice cooked expertly, Toresma astounding. (It is my guilty pleasure) Feijoada needed more collards and linguica, but it was eagerly devoured in spite of. My fault, I'll specify extra collards and linquica going forward. I will be ordering delivery and frequenting this restaurant for delivery, takeout, and sit down as time permits. I'll be sure to take pictures next time. This was a genuine hidden gem for me. I've been coming here for years. This is one of my favorite black owned restaurants in Boston. I'm suggesting the cajun lobster (or shrimp) pasta. Bife Mocambique. This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at in Boston. It's one of the few places around here ( that I know of) , where they have live music. Here they will bring out clarinets, violins, guitars, drums. Someone is usually singing, folk music in Cape Verdean Creole. This is a feel good place and the food is bomb. The service is great (but the food takes some time so I recommend you be patient- you'll be happy in the end ). I suggest that you try anything on the menu- everything is absolutely delicious from the chicken to the steak to the seafood. One of my favorite cocktails is a Caipirinha. They have guava, mango, Wildberry and passionfruit. I love the mango. The Africa Nossa is also very delicious. It's Ciroc French vanilla, vodka, Godiva, chocolate Bailey's, and a splash of Kahlúa. This is a hard review to write because it is food from my country. I knew they had issues with time when you dine there, but I never in a million years thought it would be the same with delievery. I ordered using delivery while I was at the salon. I got to the salon ordered my food, it said 35 mins. I was 4 minutes up the street from where I was. I got a wash, cut and blow dry. The food still wasnt there. The dasher texted me notifying me that they told her to wait another 15mins from the time they said it was ready for pick up. I call and the lady was so rude, she told me "what do I want me to do, were busy you have to wait" The food came warm at least, I got Katupa and it was bland, def could have used some salt or any flavor really. It was pretty mediocre for that dish. Maybe I am just used to eating my Moms. I really hope they get a new business strategy read more

Came here after finding out that there was a decent sized Cabo Verde population in Dorchester. My buddy and started out with perfectly made polvo grelhado (octopus) and mandioca frita (fried yucca). I had the cabritada (goat) and my friend had the frango churrasco (chicken). Both were excellent. The traditional caipirinhas were on point and made with grogue from Cabo Verde. Great food! My husband is Mozambican and I lived in Mozambique for 3 years and it was very similar. The flavors were spot on and if we lived here we would come all of the time. My husband got the bife a casa which was undeniably delicious. The server suggested out of the traditional plate the goat curry. I am in Boston on business and wanted to be far away from the business of downtown so, I hopped in an Uber and made my way to this restaurant and brought a friend too. Ok, first and foremost the drinks are deliciously dangerous.......you can't taste the alcohol, but they are so well balanced. Oh and let me mention the bread provided, it's really good, also dangerous. I decided to order the deep fried tuna, ok great choice My only critique is it is served with fried sweet potatoes, but the sweet potatoes aren't crispy or crunchy. The order was placed for pick-up and took 45 minutes to a hour LONGER than estimated to get the order that we were standing around waiting for our food to be able to bring it home. Restaurante Cesaria peeked my interest because they offer "Traditional Cape Verdean cuisine cooked up in a colorful, casual setting with occasional live music." Cesaria was surprisingly roomy inside, and white table clothes dressed the tables. Walls were painted a cheerful yellow and chandeliers, glass bottles, Christmas decoractions and mirror balls hung from the ceiling. A small buffet is set in a corner consisting of salad, fruits, and five hot buffet stations (some single and several divided), all off menu for the most part, with the exception of the katchupa Two of us opted to go with the buffet for $12.47 ($13.34 with tax) on a Saturday. If one has any dining restrictions, however, it is best to order off the menu. Not sure what happened, but it took nearly 50 minutes for our a la carte orders to arrive (though yes, we were warned it would take 20 min for the chicken dish to be cooked). Fortunately, my DCs were happy with their meals, both the veggie garden (though we noticed that the listed spinach fettucine had mysteriously been converted into regular joe ziti) and the frango assado. From the buffet line up that day, the ribs were my favorite. And I found the a la carte fries much crisper than those from the buffet. I'd be up for another meal at their buffet, but am also interested in ordering the Cabritada $12 (stewed goat) or a number of their seafood dishes if I can manage to find a non-spicy version. read more

The Steak tips Mozambique is my absolute favorite, pair it with the Portuguese red wine and thank me later.. My table also ordered the Grilled salmon and Amor e mar, everyone loved their dish. Their dishes are heavy so be prepared to eat. I've also been here for Sunday brunch where they serve buffet style and the katchupa is great as well. I started with the Polvo Grelhado (Grilled Octopus) as my appetizer. -which gave a 10/10 in my opinion! These badboys aren't too soft and aren't too chewy &actually quite savory! Make sure you dip each piece in the special sauce it comes with for a unique zesty lemony like taste. For my Entree I went with the Shrimp & Chicken Cajun Penne Pasta -which is giving -7/10 in my opinion. Im not a huge fan of cheesy sauces and this dish is made with some sort of cheesy based sauced, seafood and chicken! Which can be overbearing of a cheese taste if you're not the biggest cheese person but is still very good and highly scrumptious. P.s. I was so busy tasting the food I didnt get a drink because I really wanted to explore the flavors this restaurant offers. -Its the water for me (: THE BAD: The shrimp are absolutely delicious but it only comes with like 6-8 pieces in the entire entree (even if you order the shrimp penne with no chicken you still get 6-8 shrimps so be mindful if your on a budget this meal is $19) ; The chicken that comes in this dish isn't really my favorite, its dry by itself but quite complimentary when you mix it with the pasta &cajun shrimp. Cesaria is a great authentic Cape Verdean restaurant in Dorchester. I go here whenever I want cachupa refugada. It's only $9 and you will always have tons of leftovers since they give you so much. It's always cooked perfectly and leaves me full. I've also had their drinks and would highly recommend the house tea (hot) and their pina coladas. This is one of the few places where I always order a drink because they're so delicious. I've had a few of the appetizers and all are good. The shrimp is incredible and they Cvs fries are fried perfectly. My only gripe with cesaria is that it takes a long time to get your food and also they are often out of menu items. Everything is cooked fresh, but it's frustrating when you really want something and find out they don't have it. Also you should call ahead at least 30 minutes if you want take out. I come here every month or so and I plan on keeping with that tradition. The owner is great, the people are great, and the food is great. read more

This was my first experience here. It will also be my last. I wasn't pleases with the establishment at all. We had reserved a party of 14 for a friends birthday dinner. They put us in a half booth half table type setup. We were extremely close to the speaker and the restroom. One of my friends hit the speaker tryjng maneuver by to go to the restroom. I feel that there were many other places our table could have been setup. The music and base were so loud we couldn't any longer have conversations with each other. The service was extremely slow. I literally felt myself getting sleepy as the night got later waiting on drinks, waiting on appetizers and then waiting on our dinner. It took 30 minutes for drinks. Another hour for appetizers. 2.5 hours before our dinner was served. We were in the restaurant for almost 4 hours. With such a long wait I was hoping the food was delicious. It was only OK. I had the Canja Soup as an appetizer. It was mostly a broth with small grain rice and chicken bones. We had chicken wings and they came out incorrectly. We ordered half spicy and half no spice. They only served us spicy and said they put it in correctly. Though they never corrected the order. We never received the non spicy wings. The French fries was only ok because there were still raw fries in the batch that wasn't cooked thoroughly. The cajun chicken scampi wasn't a traditional scampi. It had more of a creamy scampi sauce but it was delicious and a nice proportion of food. While using the restroom an employee also used the restroom. She didn't wash her hands before leaving the restroom. She was busy text messaging on her food that she forgot to wash her hands. Yeah, this was not a good moment for me. I'll say that's their speciality. I ordered that Hennessy side car, it was perfectly balanced. For my meal, I ordered the arroz di marisco (seafood rice) Which was really tasty. My friend ordered the goat stew dish that, he also enjoyed very much. They served very generous portions and the prices are reasonable. When we went it wasn't busy so there was plenty of seating. It is also a big space with cute decor. Friendly staff that made recommendations and gave honest input. Atmosphere: It's a sit-down, family style place with a friendly atmosphere. We saw many guests dressed up and enjoying themselves which was great to see. The staff seemed really nice as well. Food: As a vegetarian, I do not believe the buffet would have been worth it for me in any way. Even the menu itself really had 2 vegetarian options. One was a vegetarian pasta, and the second was a vegetarian rice. The server recommended the rice, so I went for it and was pleased. The taste was nice overall, and the portions were quite huge, I must say. The only thing I would recommend in terms of the food is to have less olives as it was a little overpowering in flavour. Perhaps this is a popular ingredient in Cape Verdean cuisine. Misc: In all honesty, while you may get seated right away, the wait is pretty significant for food, and the bill too.
