I come here for the bread and the mashed potatoes (which are home made not instant!). The service is usually pretty good and the place is clean. The food comes out as asked for, I usually choose medium well for my steaks and they always cook it right. They offer a veterans discount, which I think is fabulous! The menu rarely changes. It is a chain restaurant but this Bismarck location is pretty great! Definitely try the mashed potatoes if you ever can't decide on a side.

The table decorated for Memorial Day.

Literally delicious. I've NEVER had bad service at this location. I went on Memorial Day and they had a table reserved for all of the veterans who have passed away fighting for our country. Such an amazing place. And don't even get me started in their rolls and cinnamon butter

Great steak dinner with loaded potatoes. Their dinner rolls with the sweet butter are the best this is a must try restaurant.

I wish there was a 6 star option. For the $$, you find a better meal in the area. Love the prime rib!!

Heck yeah. It is exactly what you think. Not classy, a bit run down but the service and food is always great.

I had a very upsetting experience at Broadway Grill that I feel others -- especially those with…read morefood allergies or celiac disease -- should be aware of. This happened a while back, but it bothered me so much I still think about it, so I decided to finally write a review. I ordered a gluten-free pasta dish and clearly informed the waitress that I am gluten intolerant (celiac). When the dish was brought out, I noticed a single regular noodle sitting right in the middle of the pasta. It was visibly different from the gluten-free noodles. Thankfully, I spotted it before taking a bite. Cross-contamination is a serious issue for people with celiac disease, and even one noodle can make us very sick. I asked for the dish to be taken back and explained that I was too nervous to reorder it because I didn't want to risk getting sick. Instead, I ordered a simple green side salad and specifically requested no croutons. A few bites into the salad, I found a crouton. At that point, I was extremely upset and honestly tearful. I informed the manager and explained how serious this is for me. I asked for the salad to be removed from my bill, given that it also contained gluten after I clearly requested it not to. They refused. For anyone with celiac disease or a serious gluten intolerance, this was not just an inconvenience -- it was a health risk. The repeated lack of attention to a clearly communicated medical dietary restriction, followed by the refusal to remove the contaminated item from the bill, was deeply disappointing. I hope the restaurant takes food allergies more seriously in the future and improves its kitchen practices and staff training so no one else has to go through this. Since this experience, I have never been back and would recommend others avoid going back to this restaurant.

I heard good things about this restaurant so we tried it last night. The positives were that the…read moreservice was pretty good and the atmosphere was nice. Had a nice rustic homie feel to it. The downside, and the really big downside, was the food. I got a steak that should've been medium well and it was medium at best. And it was brought out basically lukewarm. And it was rubbery. My wife had the walleye which was worse than my steak. It wasn't cooked well and she left most of it. Her side, which was au gratin potatoes, were initially forgotten by our food server so they were brought out late. The deviled eggs appetizers were just very pedestrian and did not have much flavor to them so we had to put a lot of salt on them. Overall, this is probably one of the poorest restaurants that we have been in as we've traveled around the country and even the world. It was even a bigger disappointment because of the price point, which was very high. And to add insult in injury, they charged me $.75 for horseradish!... I do not recommend this restaurant and I will not be returning.

Continuing our motorhome trip to escape the Texas heat, I had scheduled us to be in Bismarck (our…read morelast stop before heading home) for our 52nd wedding anniversary. After some research, I made reservations at Pirogue Grille. Glad I did. It felt nice as soon as you walk in. We were warmly greeted and ushered to our table. All tables had white table cloths and covered in white paper. There are crayons on the table so you can draw. I thought it a bit odd, but my wife enjoyed drawing. Being a former Marine, I fought the urge to eat the crayons. Service was prompt and efficient, but our waitress wasn't interested in small talk (which was OK). We ordered pre-dinner drinks; my wife had a Cosmo and I had a lemon drop martini (yes, I did...I sometimes order these for a pre-dinner drink). We both agreed that the drinks were some of the best we've had. I had the pork chop and it was EXCELLENT. I had thought I could scrap the chutney off, which I did a little, but it offered a great taste combo. My wife had the shrimp and said they were excellent. The entire meal was perfect for our anniversary. Entrees could not have been better. We had planned to have the dessert flight (small portions of all the desserts) but we could eat no more. Our server brought us a small dish of caramel popcorn. Just right for a bit of sweetness. We really enjoyed everything about the grille and highly recommend.

I'm sure this place is usually much busier, but I'm happy I lucked out. The staff were so friendly and attentive from the second you walk in, with such a warm welcome by the host. The restaurant felt cozy and still had plenty of diners despite the cold. I had the beet salad with goat cheese and pecans, and the bison braised short ribs. Both were excellent. I make a similar beet dish at home, so it was nice to have something simple, comforting, and genuinely delicious -- it felt like eating at home. The beef was incredibly tender and fell apart easily with just my fork. I also had the vanilla crème brûlée for dessert. It was pretty good, but it was cold, and I usually prefer it a little warm and smoother. Not quite the cozy dessert I was hoping for. That said, they had a great dessert selection, and I'm excited to come back and try something else.
