Great service and great food!!! I would highly recommend that anyone who wants some decent mexican food to give this place a try.

We had 3 great meals here. The service was excellent as well. I only got pictures of one of the meals, mine, the molcajete. The other people in our party had the Chili Relleno, which they said was excellent. The Montezuma molcajete was excellent. It was a combination of chicken beef pork and shrimp. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, not dry and overcooked like is often the case when the chef is not paying attention. The other meats were also perfectly cooked, and the seasonings were awesome, with lots of flavor, Molcajete is something you don't often see in Mexican restaurants, especially in Bismarck. This is a true authentic Mexican restaurant. Not some Americanized Mexican restaurant with ground beef. I know Facebook and other sites have given this place low reviews for poor service, long waits, and substandard, cold food. That was not the case for us. They may have turned the corner on that since this is a fairly new restaurant. We did come here on a Wednesday night. We found that they were not overly busy and had plenty of staff to meet their guests' expectations. I would rank this place as number one or two for authentic Mexican restaurants in the Bismarck Mandan area. Charras in Bismarck might be one and la cantina might be the second best, but then again la cantina might be number one. I will definitely be back. read more

We put our name in over the phone and we got told it would be 30 minutes we ended up waiting almost an hour. They sat us down but still took 15 minutes before we were greeted and put or drink order in. Then we waited another hour for our for our food. I have never experienced such slow service ever. They brought us our drinks with no straws and our food with no silverware. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and the chicken inside was so dry. Another person in my group ordered fajitas and when we got the tortillas for the fajitas they weren't cooked all the way. I would not recommend this place especially if you have a big party or in a rush. read more

i just returned from Mexico, then AZ, but this is the best Mexican food yet. Tamales even rock and I have high standards thanks to Rosa making me some! Bismarck peeps need to drive over that bridge and check it out. Clean spacious restaurant with very nice and knowledgeable staff. The food was bursting with flavor! 4 of us tried valiantly to eat ALL our wonderful food. I'm seriously impressed with everything except the rum selection. It's an open space so when it's full it could be loud. Best Mexican cuisine I've had in years. Good job! read more

Food is good which is why we'd returned, but this last visit the service was rushed and the food was served cool. Had to request it be reheated. Really like the guacamole, but it is $10 and it's too much for just two people. Would be great if they had a smaller portion. Finally, they just talked at us, repeating their scripted questions without listening to answers. That's a trend everywhere that I don't like. Woah! It is about time Mandan had a great Mexican restaurant! The ambiance is comfortable and clean; there is plenty of booths and tables so the wait is minimal if any. The service is excellent and quick. The food is delicious. I would implore everyone to try their Horchata (rice water with vanilla and cinnamon), it is so refreshing! The guacamole is homemade (not instant), which was so tasty! Lastly, as of the middle of June, they are serving alcohol - they have so many margaritas to select from! Went to celebrate a birthday and mentioned it to the waiter and he never said anything one way or another regarding if they do anything special. At the end of our meal they brought out a small dessert and sang "happy birthday" and then proceeded to smash a handful of whipped cream into her face. So unless you enjoy whipped cream all over your face I would not recommend! We will not be back as this is not acceptable behavior! read more

I have been waiting to come here and we finally made a date night. We were seated right away. We had chips right away. Menus. And then we waited. And waited. Finally got drinks. Ordered queso. Our Meal. And then waited. An entire hour went by. People around us came, sat and got their food before us. I finally said something. I was getting upset and when we tried to flag someone down - they looked at us and walked away. We never got refills. We were never checked on. For an entire hour. I was disappointed. I wanted to love this place. I asked about the food and it's ETA and he said it was coming up and I asked if he could box it. Came out as we were trying to pay for just our drinks. I didn't want to waste it so I chose to pay for it and we had to box it ourselves. I asked for chips to go for our queso and was ignored. Here is my constructive criticism: too many tables and seats for the kitchen or low staff to keep up. I get you want business but this isn't going to help. Stagger your seating, close a section off, and cater to the guests you actually have. The food in the box in my car was good. But it wasn't the right order. Please take some time to limit seating to support your kitchen and staff so tables are not forgotten about. I saw another table walk out due to lack of service while we were there. This is an easy fix. Limit and give great service. I wanted to love this place and I'm so disappointed. read more

Chips and salsa were good, we would know as we were on our fourth basket before we got our food. Place was busy, but looked like a fair amount of open seating still. Got seated right away, but 20+ minutes before they took our order and then an additional hour and 20 minutes before we got our food. We had lots of time for chips and salsa and drinks before getting our food, but had to wave someone down each time we needed something. Food was good, but service was way off the charts terrible compared to most any other Mexican restaurant I have been to. When the food finally came they didn't bring everything that we ordered and we had to ask for these and I sure wasn't hungry anymore due to snacking on the chips for so long. All in all, hopefully they we're having an off night for service, but it would be hard for me to go back and sit around for a couple hours waiting to get my food. read more

The food was amazing, the food was out in less than 15 minutes. It was reasonably priced ,our server was named Grecia, she was a freaking, sweetheart. This was some of the best Mexican food in North Dakota. It reminded me almost exactly of Texas Mexican food. 10/10 recommend. read more

The food was awesome. It is hard to beat the other local Mexican restaurants, and this one did it.

We placed a to go order, and it was an absolutely terrible experience. We ordered combination plates and Chile Verde. Neither of the combination plates came with rice and beans, and one was missing an entire item (chalupa). No tortillas were provided with the Chile Verde. The Chile rellano had a piece of random meat mixed into it. We tried to call the restaurant to share our experience, and the phone was busy for the rest of the night (8-11pm). The margarita and chips/salsa was good. Took about 30-45 to take our order, then another hour to get our food. Food was very cold. My husbands order was wrong and they tried telling him that's what he ordered. It was nothing like the description. My steak burrito was dry, bland, the beans looked canned and the rice was dry. Service was pretty terrible also. With there being two great restaurants in Bismarck, I won't give a second chance and wouldn't recommend to anyone. Service was immediate and quick. Food was incredibly good! Music was quiet enough to have a conversation. Way more affordable than meals at other restaurants. I had Pollos Santa Fe and it was so good I would go back daily if I could afford to eat out that much. read more

We arrived with a party of 8 and 5 of those being children. The staff was quick getting out food and drinks. The chips and salsa was amazing, horchata was to die for, and building was very inviting. The dinner plates had amazing flavor. Chorizo was fresh and chicken was tender and had great flavor. Thank you for bringing such an awesome restaurant to our little town.
