While traveling in Bismarck we decided to go to dinner here at Applebees. Not sure of the consistency of different stores and states but I was totally disappointed with the chicken oriental salad I got tonight. I was at an Applebees in Minnesota two weeks ago and the salad was on the 2 for menu and I ended up bringing home half my salad. Not tonight. I ordered off the regular menu and appeared to be one chicken strip cut up on my salad. And the cabbage was a lot of the core of the cabbage. Totally disappointed. NEVER GO TO THIS APPLEBEES! They are running a scam. They send you a $20 gift card. You place an and if it just over $20.00 they tell you that you cannot use the gift card when you pick up the order. I even asked the person I placed the order with if I could use the card and pay the balance due. She told me I could do that. When I arrived at the Applebee's I was greeted by the pierced tattooed lady who directed me to the fat bartender. Before I pulled the gift card out of my pocket she told me could not use it for the order I had placed. I told her if that was the case I did not want the order and turned to leave. She called the pierced tattoed lady (turns out to be the manager) and the pierced tattooed manager said I could not use the card. I told her to keep the order and turned to leave. She asked the fat bartender why the order was taken by the "central office". I told I did not know. I told her I wanted the card back and she said she was going to "fix this" I thought she was going keep the card to make herself uglier with more tattoos and piercings. Couldn't leave a zero so here it goes... :( We were there Sunday night. 2 of us ordered "all you can eat" and 1 ordered from menu. First round showed up cold and dry. The fries were like they had been sitting for long periods, times possibly only to be be measured by sundial or calendar. Actually past the soggy stage and resembling stale dried out husks. It hurt my teeth to try to chew. Chicken and rib-lets also cold and dry. The kind of dry you get when you forget to put leftovers away and see them out the next morning. The word terrible is an understatement At that moment I realized what all you can eat meant. We gave them benefit and hoped that the first round was delayed due to our menu item. Round 2 just as bad. Ironically had to wait a very long period (ordered immediately) for not so fresh food. Not sure if the food was pre-maid earlier for all you can eat special and/or waitress delays. Almost had to be combo of multiple factors to create such a masterpiece. We were at tail end of day (8:30) if this should even matter. Our server was amazing- the rest of the experience was not. The hostess was inept and had a difficult time deciding at which table we should sit: the restaurant was not busy. Perhaps she was too preoccupied with checking her phone. I ordered the salmon, which was cold. In addition, the broccoli tasted like it had been frozen, and the greens beans seemed to have been from a can. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Applebee's is Applebee's, not much of a change. However, the customer service and overall morale is low. Nobody seems cheerful that works here, it kind of worries me... like are you all okay? What the actual....I went to Applebee's today for lunch for the sole reason of looking forward to my favorite desert. The food menu is....edible. Nothing really standoutish about it, but it's ok. The one thing, the absolute one thing that Applebee's had going for it was the Blondie desert. I ordered it and the server said it has been changed to some Carmel covered garbage that is just as generic as the rest of the menu. Gave this place an unwarranted second chance after years ago finding bugs in my salad. Should have never attempted it again. When you walk in and the hostesses are rude enough to make you want to walk back out that front door you know what you are in for. Unfortunately 2 of the 4 meals weren't quite up to expectations. The bourbon chicken and shrimp tasted like whatever was cooked and not cleaned off the cast-iron pan they bring sizzling to the table. The chicken was obviously burned and blackened and not in a good way. The fish (which may be what they had to work with) was flat and soggy. The salmon was OK and the batter fried shrimp was OK. I have had a lot better at our local Applebee's. Service was 70% fantastic as the server disappeared after bringing 1 refill and never checked back after that until she brought the bill. The hosts hardly greeted us, looked disinterested in our arrival, and them seemed rather confused on where to seat our party of three. Server forgot to bring us the waters we ordered and our food took quite a while to come out. The food itself was mediocre. If I could rate the service, it would be a half star because it sets the tone for how your food arrives, if its hot/cold/warm, and whether you get a refill in a timely manner. With the influx of population in Bismarck, Applebee's suffers from poor service and average food. Applebee's in north Bismarck gets 2 stars for at least closing the blinds when we were seated in a window that had the evening sun blaring through it (even then we asked for it to be lowered). read more

Terrible terrible! As soon as my wife , daughter, and I stepped in we got acknowledged by the host, and right when she's about to ask us how many in our party.. a rude manager, who later gave us the name of Chris, interrupted the host and completely ignored the fact we and another party were waiting to be seated; he continued to ask the poor host if she can stay later and mentioned she needs to clean the bathroom and so forth and completely ignored us for several minutes. That was just the start of it! We were seated at a booth where we WAITED 10 + minutes before we got up to leave. The same manager walked past our table multiple times as did some servers as well and we were not acknowledged. We looked around while we WAITED 10+ minutes and some servers would look at us and not even come to check to see if we were being helped. It was 5:30 pm on Wednesday (January 11) and the restaurant was more than half empty . My wife and I are both managers at a restaurant and never ever experience this. Extremely disappointed. But that's not all... before leaving we asked our host for a manager. When "Chris" approached us he seemed to already know the issue. I explained what happened and he just shook his head in agreement and continued to say, "yep, yep, yep" after each of my comments. I explained that we watched him walk by several times... which he replied that he thought we were helped. I told him that he should have noticed we did not have beverage napkins, the first indication that we had been acknowledged, and as a manager he should have noticed... he was also present when we were sat. My family and I do not go out much and this was to be a celebratory dinner. We were let down. We went to another place in town and thankfully continued our celebration, but our experience at Applebee's left a bad taste in our mouths! read more

My recommendation if you are looking for take out service, spend your hard earned money elsewhere. I have tried to give this establishement the benefit of the doubt by being a repeat customer but after multiple attempts to allow them to win me over with service to rave about, they continue to fall short. As a frequent consumer of take out food this place service level for take out is well below those they compete within this market so buyer beware. Employees behaviors are a reflection of management, which doesn't say much about the manager on shift during this period of time. Ordered take out last evening on-line @ 6:04pm. Nothing difficult, 3 appetizers, pretzels, quesadilla, & cheese sticks.......6:04pm order placed. Applebees confirmed order received. Stated it would be ready by 6:26pm. Arrived @ 6:24pm. Only car waiting, with no service or acknowledgement until 6:38pm. 2 other vehicles pull in and are also now waiting. At 6:40 someone now finally acknowledged we are there, and confirms our order. Needless to say no apology for delay, but of course, we shouldn't have expected much formalized training in customer service since the individual helping was a table seater rather than an actual server. She proceeds to be oblivious we've just waited 36 minutes since we first ordered and now 15 minutes past their committed time of 6:26pm. Rather than understand our frustration she continues to the other vehicles confirming their order while we continue to sit and wait. FINALLY she comes out with our order @ 6:49pm. So 25 minutes we waited once we got there and 45 minutes after we initially ordered our small appetizers we were finally served. Pizza delivery establishement can delivery faster. To top off the miserable experience we were handed a bag of of cold/luke-warm appetizers. At least have employees trained to acknowledge the customer, apologize for missing time commitments, offer a beverage as they have to wait, and maybe most importantly how about just showing the customer their business is appreciated by communicating it. None of that happened, and the end consequence of terrible service is an honest assessment in hopes others are not treated in the same manner, because really as a service business it is inexcusable, especially considering there was no accountability, while charging full fare for service that is very much under delivered. read more

A cook in the back was very loud and was yelling and swearing during a slow time. When i asked my server who it was that was so loud she told me that it was her store manager, very unprofessional and immature. i can see why the north store goes through 4-5 servers per month. Took my family out too dinner, it was the worst food and service. We had arrived around 4 pm and my dinner was so over cooked the broccoli it was like eating mush.The steak bites that I had in the meal were so overcooked and dry they were not editable. My sons food was so cold it just looked nasty and who would want cold mashed potatoes. My granddaughter order Med Rare steak it was very well done of course she ordered all the extra topping mushroom, onions. They picked up her steak and made her a new one but did not recook the topping who wants cold mushrooms and onions on there steak after paying extra for them. By the time they brought her steak we all finished eating. They must have used whatever was leftover from lunch and threw it on our plates. The waitress and Manger showed no interest in making it right changing of shifts just wanted too get out of there. For the price I paid we could have went too Long Horn or Texas Road house and had a real meal. read more
