Really awesome environment. Everyone was nice, the service was great, and the food was delicious. I honestly think that this experience was one of the very last few old school diner experience. Our server was awesome and was very attentive to us and all the other guest around. I ordered the chicken club and my daughter had the knoephla soup. Delicious. Looking for a local vibe in the vicinity of Bismarck and this hit the mark. Solid, reliable food and service. We tried a bowl of the knoephla, which would definitely be a good call on a chilly day. One reviewer noted that this "German" food doesn't resemble what Germans eat these days ... it might be fairer to expect comfort food as defined by the children and grandchildren of German immigrants who settled in North Dakota in territorial and early statehood days. Wouldn't advise anyone to eat there their food sux. Lettuce salad lettuce salad came with a large piece of lettuce that was wilted and spoiled. Knopfla soup that was yellow and really bad. Service was slow. Told them our complaints and they still made us pay. Would advise Noone to eat there. read more

This is a quintessential breakfast spot (and diner) in Omaha. Can you say rhubarb caramel rolls?! The service was fast and friendly (timely refills), which I never take for granted after COVID. I ordered Clara's special, which is a traditional breakfast of eggs, hash browns, meat, and your choice of bread. The sausage links were juicy and flavorful. My only minor complaint is I asked for extra crispy hash browns. We also had a bucket of their knoephla soup to go. For those not from Bismarck, it's a dumpling soup in cream sauce not to be missed! I always enjoy visits back to Bismarck and this hometown favorite! read more

Confused by the crummy reviews. This place was a last-minute drop in for brunch. I had the Clara's Special. Sausage patties were mouthwatering. Hash browns were buttery-crisp. Service was very friendly, and the table was spotless. I got biscuits and gravy vs pancakes or toast-- recommended! I don't come to town often, but will be back to this place. read more

This establishment is the working man's diner. Built to serve the industrial neighborhood, it has served many folks. With that, the food seemed to be the stuff of GFS, instead of made from scratch. The staff was plenty nice, and the place clean, just not the greatest flavors. I suggest monitoring the fry temps a little better. read more

This was my first experience at Kroll's On Sunday morning we enjoyed a sweet breakfast with friends who live in Bismarck. They knew we would enjoy the German food items. I had my palette set on kuken but the waitress told me it is not made in the restaurant but an outside farm lady makes it in her kitchen and brings it in. I went to this Restaurant because the one down the street was way too busy. I wanted to try something local but changed my mind when I saw a krolls. This one was old looking but clean. You can see everything the cooks and servers are doing. I ordered and received my food fast and it was hot. The service was basic and lackluster. I did not have a bad experience and I did not have a great experience. It was mediocre. And the food was ok. Hash browns were soggy. Everything else was having me think I could make this at home for a third the cost. I believe I paid fifteen dollars for breakfast, water, and a tip. Parking lot was blanketed in snow and I couldn't see lines. Where I parked was wrong and they asked around who parked there one guy got up and moved his vehicle I did not and nothing bad happened. read more
