This is just such a cool little place! There are some tables, but I just sat right up at the bar and was able to watch the fabulous chef make my food fresh! I had the Korean glass noodles with shrimp and it was tremendously good! Super tasty! When I was watching him make the meal, I was so impressed with how only fresh ingredients used were. He even cooked the shrimp instead of cutting corners and using frozen shrimp. Very impressive and made a huge difference in the flavor. Portions are massive! The food was lovely, this is the second time I've visited Bismarck coming from California and I told my boyfriend we had to come back to this place. I remember last time we ordered practically one of everything and it tasted so good, the textures and the flavors felt fresh and delicious and authentic. The owner and the waitress were very quick, attentive, and kind to everyone who stepped in. I noticed that they immediately greeted everyone who walked in and spoke to customers as If they're friends. An excellent Japanese food option in downtown Bismarck. This is a surprisingly good Japanese restaurant. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen and Spareribs. The Shoyu Ramen has a deeply flavorful broth. The pork slices were well executed and generous in serving size. The scallions were fresh. The half egg was creamy and flavorful. The noodles were excellent, both springy and chewy. I also tried the spareribs which are apparently a house specialty. The ribs were tender and extremely flavorful. They had a great balance of fat and protein. Amazing food and hospitality. We made a short road trip to Bismarck and we were craving some Asian dishes. Noodlezip is a small place but don't let its size fool you. This restaurant gives food that is full of flavor and love. We first split the pork buns as an appetizer, delicious and not your usual fatty, pork belly piece, very tasty. For drinks I ordered the Korean ginger cinnamon tea, reminded me of the tea my mother use to make, my fiancé opted for the sake shot, which is poured and overfilled into another block shot, almost like a two for one deal. For dinner I ordered the spicy galbi chicken, one of my favorite dishes I use to order in Korea, excited to try it here. My fiancé ordered the beef udon soup. Spicy chicken galbi came with banchan and rice, flavor was perfect, only thing I would add is more rice cakes! Udon beef soup was flavorful and perfect for the cold weather. Food is AMAZE! I eat here at least once a week! The owner prepares most of the meals (probably all, but I don't like to speak in absolutes unless I'm absolutely sure). But he's awesome! It's nice to walk into a restaurant and be recognized by the owner. I always get the ramen because I'm obsessed. The veggie dumplings are good, the eggplant dish is awesome, the pho is good! This was my 3rd or 4th time coming to Noodlezip and the first couple of times I was impressed with the food and service! Tonight it was a disappointment. The server took a while to take our order. They ran out of the Vietnamese rolls which was our main reason going to Noodlezip in the first place. That was a disappointment. I ordered the Singaporean Curry and I was quite disappointed. It literally came with 3 shrimps and the taste was bland. It was not filling and I was not happy with my order. For North Dakota, this is very delicious. Order the Dry Pho and Beef Pho Noodle Soup Drinks: Vietnamese Coffee and Thai Iced Tea Pho is really good. The noodles are fresh. The flavor is rich. Very authentic, you can't really replicate with off the shelf seasoning. Beef? Fatty pieces, yes. Best part of the pho. Only improvement? Use less cabbage, its not traditional as I usually have but it does complete the wholesome of healthy. If you're ordering and hungry, may I suggest extra noodles? Broth size is perfect. Between my group of 5, we had pad Thai, shrimp glass noodles, dry pho, vegan bibimbap, and vegan pho... and EVERYONE LOVED EVERYTHING. The food was over the top PHENOMENAL. Add in the Thai tea and the Thai Tea Crepe Cake with the biggest blueberries I've ever seen.... holy. Moly. Who would have guessed Bismark had a place like this to offer. There was a wait to get seated, but they took our orders while we were waiting. Very efficient! Food came out quickly, checks were run quickly. It's a well-oiled machine. On the flip side, this isn't a place that you'd sit and chat over a leisurely dinner-- not enough space. Ambience: Casual, not a lot of seating. As above, very friendly and efficient, but there's too much of a wait and not enough space for you to sit around and have a nice conversation over dinner. It's an eat-and-leave sort of place. Great to grab a quick bite before a movie or something, probably not a first date sort of place. Bathrooms: Average cleanliness, no complaints. Single-room bathrooms, one for males and one for females. Parking: On the street, or there's a garage a block down that's like $1 an hour. As a NYC foodie, I always enjoy frequent and intentional trips to NoodleZip for mouth water asian cuisine! Thus far I've gone to NoodleZip quite a few times and I've had a number of their food selections (pictured below)! The Pho is 'PHOnonmenal' and come garnished with all of my favorite toppings! I entered with some trepidation as I had called to find out if they were busy (not too bad I was told), whether they had take out (nope) and if they had beer and wine (yes, but limited selection). Being a Saturday evening and unencombered, I thought I would give it a shot anyway. The place is small and it was full. I was directed to the waiting area (chairs in the hallway, towards the back), and I didn't see this ending well. I imagined a group of people leaving as another group came in and they would get the space as we (a party of 4 and I) sat in limbo. Happily this wasn't the case. Well, one group left while another came in but the staff was quick to direct them to the waiting area and I was rather quickly seated at the chef's table (bar area where you can see the chef cooking). I am not sure of his name but the entire staff calls him Chef and he reportedly graduated from CIA so chef it is. The menu is simple, some appetizers, a few noodle dishes, and one dessert. To put the alcohol discussion to rest, they have four or five beers, including Kirin and Tsing Tao, so that is fine; and a selection of wines from Jackson-Triggs, a Niagra vineyard, and you won't be disappointed. I had the Peking ribs and the Pho. Both were excellent. The five spice was present but not overpowering and the hoisin sauce was really nice. The Pho was also excellent, but served with the Thai basil, bean sprouts, and peppers are already in the soup instead of being served on the side, to be added by the consumer. I think this is smart, govern the size of the place (not a ton of room for extra bowls, and I think it is a good way to keep food costs down. Believe me though, they don't skimp! I had the creme brûlée, and have to say I liked it, even though it was a bit denser than I am accustomed to. It is served with berries and if you get this, by all means have the ice wine! Taken together this is a fantastic dessert. A final note about this Noodlezip - well two notes. First, the prices are so reasonable! You can get a great noodle lunch for about $12! Ok, that is with water and no tip so it will be a bit more, but that is still very reasonable. Second, I will be back to this place. There are a few places that get it right, and this is one of them. read more
