Not a big fan of this place.. I went one time and paid a copay and then a month later got a bill for $60 as well. It looks like they tried to charge my insurance company $360 and they only covered $300, or maybe they wouldn't pay any of it and so they adjusted the price down to $60 because they knew $360 was a ripoff. I don't understand why these places can't just charge what they charge and stop trying to milk our healthcare system for all it's worth. They're part of the problem. They also use the worst smelling cleanser I've ever smelled. Fabuloso or something. Awful chemicals. The doctor was nice though. read more

These 'guys' are so awesome! You just have to do your 'homework' .... Your at home exercises found easily on the app. The folks who work here are caring and professional....as well as very knowledgeable. They are on top of it with regard to insurance, etc. I've come here (to this location) for knees and low back. And I am grateful for the relief I got! read more

Count me in as another desk jockey who keeps messing up their back, and now gets to keep coming back each time I do something new and fun like "lifting the wrong way" or "sitting for an extensive research project" or "slogging through another parent-teacher conference in an elementary school chair". This location is super central, easy to park in, and is chock full of great physical therapists and supportive staff. They're gonna make you work, but if you work there (and do your homework) they'll get you out of there. Plus there's a neat app that'll nag you to keep doing your exercises so you don't make it back any time soon. I hate the exercises, hate the work, grumble through it all, but love being able to 1) lift 2) stand 3) sleep 4) walk after graduation. I'm probably not your common client for physical therapy. When I first arrived there, I noticed there were two types of clientele: the over-60 crowd, and these really athletic-looking people who probably ended up in physical therapy after competing in some pretty epic sports. Me? I'm a 28-year-old desk jockey who rarely hits the gym. I developed some back and neck pain, probably from bad posture at my computer and looking down at my phone, so my general physician referred me to TPTS. Entering the place the first time, I didn't like it. It reminded me too much of a gym, which I've established I don't frequent. I felt out of place, and I didn't like how the area was so open with everyone doing their exercises and consulting with staff out in the open. Nonetheless, I stuck through it, and I was pleased. I was mainly pleased to know that there were private rooms, so not all of my treatment would be in public. Joseph Leech was my assigned physical therapist, and he was great. He was very attentive and helpful, and wanted to work with me to figure out how to prevent future pains. He taught me little exercises I can do on my own to help the pain. But, I think the best part of my visits were when he cracked my back and other things. It was kind of overwhelming, at first, to hear my back crack so loud, but it was lovely, and so needed. For a couple of weeks, I was assigned some exercises in the gym area before Leech saw me. It wasn't too bad. Some were kind of tiring and exacerbated my pains, but that was worked out during my after-exercise consultation. Thankfully, the gym area didn't seem so daunting anymore. The PT techs were pretty helpful in showing me what I needed to do, and you can tell they kept the area clean. I was pretty comfortable doing my exercises there. Sometimes, though, the music played got a little annoying. It's an endless rotation of songs that sound straight out of the commercials from Lifetime Network daytime TV. Otherwise, everything was good. As a whole, I racked up a total of 3 visits to Texas Physical Therapy Specialists in about 3 or 4 weeks, and then I was a baby bird, set on my own to fly. For initially feeling out of place and not wanting to be there (the only time they could get me in was 90 minutes before my alarm to go into work!), the staff made me feel comfortable, and like they were glad I was there. I hope I'm not a dummy with my posture and don't need PT again, but if I do, I wouldn't hesitate returning. read more

I would give them NO STARS if I could. I had a really bad fall, and fractured my ribs, and was having trouble with my mobility. These people made me fell like all they wanted was my money. They were late to the appointment, even though I had been there 40 minutes. A "doctor" was supposed to see me to set up what I needed to do and he came in with an intern of some kind. And when I balked at it, his reply was "once she graduates I plan on hiring her". The whole thing stinks. They were no help, and didn't do anything to help me but just scheduled another visit FOR MORE MONEY AND NO HELP, I am sure. Do not trust them. They are lame and only want $$$$$$. No help. No suggestions. Just a bunch of questions and her reply every single time was, "Thank you for that". RUN do not walk out. HORRIBLE MONEY GRUBBING NO HELP WORTHLESS PLACE. read more

Like other reviews here I too have had an awesome experience and highly recommend Texas Physical Therapy Specialists (TexPTS) on Balcones to others. I had the joy of working with two therapists during my visits, Brett Neilson & Elisabeth Calabria. Not only did they offer a positive and pleasant atmosphere, but they also brought professionalism and confidence with them. I was in their care for lower back pain which they helped me work on in office and at home by providing easy to perform exercises. They helped me to understand my injury and how to prevent future occurrences. The Physical Therapist don't do it all on their own though. I also worked with 3 of their techs, Laura, Becky, and Justin. They were all knowledgeable and very supportive. Though I think they all enjoyed watching my face twist at the sight of the cane :). In the end I enjoyed the experience so much that I've even joined their personal training (GTS) classes. The classes share the same positive and easy going atmosphere as the rest of the office's services. The results I've gained from this small office all together have been outstanding, so they will continue to receive my business and recommendation. read more

Dr Browder and the staff at TexPTS changed my life. It sounds corny but I'm not kidding! I have chronic muscle and joint pain in my hip, knee, and lower back due to scoliosis, sometimes so severe that I have trouble walking. When I came to TexPTS, I was frustrated. I had seen a lot of doctors, most of whom seemed to just shrug and recommend NSAIDs. Dr Browder helped me find the right pair of shoes and my knee hasn't hurt since. I'm still wearing that same brand to this day. Manual therapy reduced my hip pain significantly and almost immediately. A stretching and exercise routine got my core in better shape so my back hurt less. I learned how to workout without injuring myself. I lost weight. And eventually I was able to go back to working out on my own, with minimal to no pain. Also, they offer small group personal training there, which was a great way to ease the transition from therapy back to working out at home. My problem is chronic so I am never really pain-free, but Ive been able to incorporate the things I learned in PT into my home exercise routine which has reduced my overall pain to a very manageable level. Going to TexPTS for physical therapy was honestly the single greatest thing I've ever done to improve my quality of life. I also went back after I had my first baby in 2011. Once again, the staff at TexPTS helped me shape up to reduce the excruciating hip and back pain I was feeling. The staff there is incredibly nice and caring. They watch you exercise closely to make sure you're using good form. They're fun, they joke around, they are very encouraging, and they know their stuff. When it comes to friendly, funny staff they are awesome. They are very flexible with scheduling and always willing to work with you. When it comes to the actual Physical Therapy part of their services, they are HORRIBLE! If you don't mind being passed around by interns and given cookie-cutter service then this is the place for you. Be prepared to be shifted between whatever interns they are using without being visited by an actual doctor after the first visit. At the price they charge a pop you would think you would be seen and treated by a REAL degreed doctor every time. The directions for at-home excersices are vague and they never print them out and give you specific instruction. They expect you to memorize what you do and do at home. They are not very organized with at-home assignments and my particular experice was they did not want to do any manual manipulation. YOU CAN FIND A BETTER PLACE! read more

The therapy I received at Texas Physical Therapy Specialists on Balcones Woods has made a huge difference to my wellbeing. The doctor: I highly recommend Dr. David Browder as he played a key role in my road to recovery. The first day I was there, he took detailed history and examined thoroughly until he figured out what needs to be worked at and create a plan. He offered a highly customized, thoughtful and measured approach to recovery. He provided personal attention, saw me every day I was there, asked how I was doing, tailored his therapy based on my inputs on improvement and did manual as well. I was told what I needed to do on ongoing basis to avoid getting back to my initial condition. The staff/ office: The staff is friendly, upbeat and fun. They watch you when you are doing exercises to ensure it is being done properly and you will not hurt yourself doing something new. They were very patient with me while I took my time to start using a muscle set I haven't used in a while. The office has very flexible with scheduling and is always willing to work with you. It comes in very handy when you have an unpredictable work schedule. I always received a warm reception. The background music is perfect. They are tirelessly working to find newer ways to make the office better and nicer. I couldn't have found a better place. This place set me up for success. The absolute best physical therapy experience I've ever had. All of the staff are very helpful, knowledgeable, highly educated, polite, professional yet fun. They helped me perform better at my two jobs. Even though I may need to eventually have surgery on my neck due to an auto accident, I feel like there is now no pain and just slight discomfort. I'm managing better the ever before. This location is the best and highly effective/smart. I already miss being there because each appointment was so much fun and it's a great environment with great people. I highly recommend this location for all of your physical therapy needs. read more

Dr. Milligan (aka Mark) has treated both of my children: my son for pain in feet and my daughter for treatment of a torn MPFL / pain associated with dislocated knee. I can't speak highly enough about the experiences we have had with Mark and his staff. They are always so friendly and truly care about your progress and health. This isn't an office that's going to have you keep coming back on and on and on... instead they're a business that wants to get you well and get you back to health. My kids loved working with Mark and the rest of the staff. Just a positive experience all the way around. We always received detailed explanations and strategies for home. My son had extremely tight calves that contributed to his foot pain. They administered dry needling, a type of astym therapy, and stretching as well as massage and electric therapy. For the first time (for as long as I can remember!) my son was pain free. It's been about 9 months since his release and he's still pain free! The office all remembered him and asked after him when we brought our daughter in for treatment. My daughter had significant pain and swelling as a result of her injury, as well as loss of mobility. She's an avid athlete and it was really important to her to get back to sports as soon as possible. Mark was conservative and realistic to what she could do, but also pushed her in a safe and measured way to ensure progress. By about 7 weeks she was starting to slowly get back into running. Mark held her accountable and made her responsible for her body by giving her very clear strategies and goals. He released her before her prescription expired because he knew he'd gone as far as he could with her (her ortho doctor still didn't clear her for twisting or pivoting), so instead of just having us come in and billing us for redundant treatment, he had us hold off until her doctor allowed him additional therapies. We respect this honest and integrity! This is the office we'll always seek treatment if ever anyone in our family requires physical therapy. read more

Dr Browder and the staff at TexPTS gave me back joy of life. While it could sound clichéd I'm damn serious! I have chronic tendons and joint pain in my hips, knees, and lower back due to arthritis and scoliosis (consequence of rickets I had in childhood). My problem is chronic but I used to live with it and despite of it did hiking, cross-country skiing and swimming. In 2010 year my condition worsen in very fast pace and pain became so severe that I had trouble walking upstairs in my house. I have seen a lot of doctors - surgeons, orthopedists, rheumatologists, physiatrists. I went through few MRIs and lots of tests. I was given trials of various NSAIDs, then steroids. I also went through two courses of physical therapy in the clinic I would not name here. Nothing worked. I started to consider hips replacement and lower back surgery when I was referred to Dr. Browder. Having seen two physical therapists before I did not believe physical therapy could help me. I was wrong! After two sessions of the therapy with Dr. Browder I found that I can walk easier with less pain. And when I done with entire course in November 2011, I was able to hike again! I have had no chance to swim of do cross-country ski yet, but I am looking forward in coming summer and next winter... The staff of TexPTS is very nice, exceptionally caring and very encouraging. My 12 yr old daughter was referred to TPTS by her podiatrist for foot/toe issues that have caused her life long problems. Our time at TPTS was such a positive experience and the therapy has made a huge difference for my daughter. The staff is friendly, caring and knowledgeable and they make the therapy interesting and fun. Our therapist was Brett Neilson. The staff of this place are friendly and does work by the paper instructions. However, I had felt so much pain after treatment by the Dr assigned there. His brutal adjustment left me had back pain for a week, much worst than when I came in. Be carefule when you take the treatment, make sure understand what is being done, and provide feedback instantly. read more

I was a healthy 37yr old who did all types of exercise/fitness (early morning bootcamp, hiking, biking, skiing-water & snow, running, etc) until I woke up one morning in August and couldn't move. I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my neck and received two steroid injections with some minor relief. But, I credit Dr. Browder and the staff at Texas PTS with helping me through this difficult time. Appointments are easy to make, the staff are friendly, energetic & motivating, and work seemlessly as a team. All of the PT techs are watching you, helping you, and rooting for you to improve. Dr. Browder is a skilled physical therapist that I'm lucky to have found. His manual therapy and needling technique helped relax my shoulder muscles when nothing else was working. Dr. Browder continues to educate himself and others by teaching many courses around the country. When he is gone, do NOT worry, you will be left in the very capable hands of his colleagues. Once I was ready to return to exercising, I too joined the GTS (gravity training system) supervised workouts taught by Becky. It's not only a great way to start strength training under the watchful eye of your PT team. but also a lot of fun! Becky is fabulous!
