I am a fan of True Rest floats. The float experience is absolutely wonderful in terms of stress…read morereduction and a general feeling of calm well-being, and the atmosphere at True Rest, both before, and after your float, enhances that feeling. In my recent visit, I tried their Vitality Suite, which consists of a combo of infrared sauna, red light therapy, and a cold plunge. The attendant was very nice as she described the process. Unlike the float, which has an automatic timer built in, the vitality suite experience is one in which you are expected, or at least encouraged, to watch the clock. I wondered whether 45 minutes might actually be too long, but it was not. Not at all, actually. By the time I showered, got heated up in the sauna, and got myself into the cold plunge, which is very, very cold, the clock said I was 36 minutes into my 45! Since I had seen no other customers, I didn't think anyone would be pounding on the door, but still, I felt constrained and not relaxed at having to watch the clock. I tried the red light therapy, but felt no sense that it was doing anything for me. Maybe my cells were regenerating without my knowledge. So back into the sauna, then back into the cold plunge, and by then I was well over my time. When I was showered and dressed, I saw the attendant had just come to check on me, but I didn't really feel any time pressure, except what was self-imposed. But that still made the experience less relaxing than it should've been. The elegant one-person sauna was nicer than the one I use at my gym, and the cold plunge was much colder, which was bracing. But overall, I was not especially impressed with the vitality suite since it is pretty much what I already do at my gym. I would come back and pay the pricey price for floats at True Rest, but the vitality suite experience did not work for me.

I went into this experience expecting to love it - I got the pure silence I craved…read more The facility was very clean, and I felt comfortable being there. The float itself was good, a strange sensation, but I can see why people love it (especially after a few times to get used to it). My biggest problem was that the light switch inside my pod didn't work, and that triggered a little bit of my panic reflex. I ended up cracking the pod open a couple times to calm myself down, and that detracted from the experience.

On the day of my appointment I woke up with a fever and vomiting. I went to the doctor to find out I have the flu. I called Austin Colonic right away to ask to reschedule. Karen (who I presume is the owner) was incredibly rude. She said no rescheduling or cancellations read the policy. I begged her in tears she said "come in anyway and it will clear out toxins". I told her I was still throwing up and felt uncomfortable driving and she said, "you sound very dramatic, read the policy there are no last minute changes". I continued to beg her to reschedule and she said, "it has to be in under one week", I told her I just got sick today and I'm not sure if I will feel better then, and asked for two weeks, she said no and "go somewhere else" and hung up the phone Absolutely ridiculous behavior when treating customers for a premium service. Zero compassion, empathy, or understanding. Highly suggest you go to a business that is professional, and understanding of life circumstances. Would reccomend Alive and Well for colonics, I typically go there but my typical provider was extremely booked (unlike this place). Do not book here unless you are okay with being charged fees if god forbid something come up that is urgent and you cannot make it. Looking at the negative reviews on Google, I probably should have done this first before booking. Clearly a behavior pattern with this business treating people so poorly.

One of the Worst and Most Humiliating Experiences I've Ever Had…read more I went in for a hydrotherapy colonic cleanse with the hope of having a positive, healing experience. Instead, I left feeling humiliated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. From the moment I arrived, the environment was unprofessional--dirty, unclean, and with a dog present in the private office. The woman running the service was visibly irritated, and I even overheard her complaining about having to "deal with one more person"--referring to me. It was clear she didn't want to be there, and she made no effort to hide it. Her attitude was rude, cold, and dismissive from the start. What made this worse was how rough and aggressive she was during the procedure. As someone experiencing this for the first time, I expected care and guidance, but instead, I was left feeling violated. She shoved the hose in without gentleness or explanation, which made the process not only uncomfortable, but extremely painful. I didn't even receive the full session I was promised--she included the time I used the restroom as part of the session, which felt like a way to rush me out. I also debated canceling when I saw the condition of the place and her attitude, but the $75 cancellation fee left me feeling pressured to go through with it. What was supposed to be a self-care moment turned into an emotionally draining and physically painful experience. No one deserves to be treated like an inconvenience, especially during such a vulnerable procedure. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It stripped me of any trust I had going in and left me feeling worse than before. If you're considering hydrotherapy, please go somewhere that treats you with dignity, professionalism, and basic human kindness--this was absolutely none of that.

I was more than pleasantly surprised. There were locker rooms and many places to sit around the pool (which for anyone who has great difficulty walking outside a pool is a god-send!) Both therapists I have had, Hunter and Patti, are engaging, knowledgeable, patient, and responsive. (They are both also a hoot! :-) Hunter even lets me choose the music while I am there!) In just 2 months I have had significant improvement! It was fairly easy to get reserved pool time that works with my limited schedule and they are very easy to work with, both personally and insurance-wise. I have never used the land-based therapy but they seem to have an abundance of great equipment and therapists. I can't recommend them enough!

I attended aquatic therapy, and after five sessions I developed a foot fungus. Only positive experience was that a therapist was great. I contacted the facility multiple times and also brought this issue directly to the attention of the front desk. I never received a response, which made me feel that my concerns were not taken seriously. This facility came highly recommended, so I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and care. The lack of cleanliness was noticeable from my very first visit, and despite raising concerns, nothing was addressed. I am extremely disappointed, especially since I would have liked to continue my therapy during what has already been a very difficult year.

True Rest is one of the very few places in the Austin area that offers float therapy. As a first-timer and now a member, each float benefited me personally with relaxed muscles, soothed joints, and therapeutic sleep. Working at a desk job all week tenses my shoulders and back. It's uncomfortable and stresses me out. But I've felt rejuvenated after each float session. I like to compare it to an experience at the chiropractor, but without the cracking of the spine or neck. The magnesium in the 1,000 lbs of epsom salt in the float pod naturally decompresses my spine, which in turn relaxes my muscles. I'm often in such a relaxed state that I fall asleep while floating, which I hear is the optimal state for a float. Each float pod is in its own private room, and there's a shower with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to wash off all the resaltan afterwards. They also have a free oxygen bar after floating, and a delicious sweet, Egyptian Licorice tea that I like to drink afterwards. They have a get-ready room for anyone needing to go to a function afterwards, and their restrooms are always kept clean and well-stocked. I have also used their vitality suite, which offers a Norwegian sauna, red light therapy, and a cold plunge. I take advantage of all 3 during my sessions and I've been satisfied with the benefits that come from pairing all 3 together. I think a membership there is worth it as it really cuts down the per session cost. That said, I go weekly that serves as my end-of-week reset before the next work week starts.

The exercises weren't anything you can't find on YouTube and I didn't feel like the range of motion exams even pinpointed the issues I was having. Additionally, I had issues with an additional session being scheduled without my knowledge and a billing issue for which I couldn't get proper explanation. It's just a disaster from start to finish, in my experience. I've had physical therapy before at other providers and had a much better experience at far more reasonable prices.

I don't understand why these places can't just charge what they charge and stop trying to milk our healthcare system for all it's worth. They're part of the problem. They also use the worst smelling cleanser I've ever smelled. Fabuloso or something. Awful chemicals. The doctor was nice though.
