A few years ago I attempted to do a colonic at a different facility but it was an epic fail and I could not complete the mission. Somehow I built up the courage to try the mission again here and I'm glad I did. The young lady who helped me was really friendly and put me at ease before the process. She explained everything and after making sure everything was set up properly she left to give me privacy. She checked in occasionally and if I needed anything I could press the doorbell in the room. The human body is an extraordinary engineering marvel, all parts working in harmony to keep everything moving, pumping, bending, twisting, flexing and squishing around. Until something goes awry. Then the human body is like a petulant 2-year-old, hell-bent on destroying your sleep, wardrobe, free time, spare cash and piece of mind. I had one such episode several months ago, when a bout of food poisoning before a scheduled plane trip had me chugging the Pepto Bismol, to keep the stuff inside ON the inside. This led to some serious constipation, which led me down the rabbit hole to all kinds of horrible, TMI situations. I've had a colonic before, and I can say it was easily one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life; I threw up and passed out right afterward, and vowed to never do that again. But when you haven't pooped in 2 weeks, your priorities change. Going into my appointment I was extremely nervous, but as everyone has stated, Melissa was super comforting and explained everything really well. I won't go into extreme detail, but let's just say that everything moved along just fine, and the equipment they use means it's clean, non-smelly, and as pleasant as possible. I'm docking one star because about 4 months after my appointment, I got a follow-up phone call asking if I wanted to come in again for another appointment. I stated that I was fine and if I needed to come in I will call them first thing. Then I started getting calls about once a month. Every time i would state please let ME call YOU if I need your services, and still I would get repeat calls. I understand that this is sort of a preventative service and it's best to get colonics on a regular basis, but I didn't like the repeated contact, especially after asking not to get called again. I would highly recommend Rock Solid Health if you need a colonic, just make sure to state your preferences about future appointments. read more

Not going to lie, reading reviews that talked about inserting the tube yourself almost kept me from trying this. Then WebMD freaked me the eff out. But I'm vain so I walked through the door anyway. Melissa has the weirdest job ever. But I don't think she knows it. She has the patience of a kindergarten teacher mixed with the demeanor of luxe spa technician. She's all soothing and light, which is exactly what you need when you're going into a strange-ass experience (no pun intended). **It's gonna get graphic from here so proceed at your own risk** Melissa does a great job of explaining how the process works and reassuring you that all the equipment is safe and sterile. The moment of truth came when I had to "lower myself" onto the device-- which is not as scary as you think. The device is the smaller than the ones I've seen on reality TV shows and it only goes in about an inch (my no-no place is still safe). The water is 102 degrees and, contrary to my overactive imagination, doesn't feel like a garden hose. It just feels suddenly warm. The only way I can describe it is it's like having diarrhea in bed. It's not bad, it's just unnatural to expel while laying down. The viewing tube. It sounds disgusting, but it's like a cheering section on the downhill ski at the Olympics. It's letting you know you're doing things well and that you should keep going. About halfway through the session my tube was clear, so I was beginning to think this was a scam. Melissa came in and massaged my stomach a bit and unleashed a new fury. Again, sounds gross but felt like someone put a gold star on my colon. (Good job, Buddy!) I love that Melissa didn't end the session with a hard sell on purchasing more sessions. She even provided me with a recommended list of foods to add to my diet rather than suggesting some unrealistic juice cleanse. Because, seriously, I had cocktails after my session. I have scheduled more sessions and am actually looking forward to it. Partially because Melissa is so welcoming and partially because I want to see that box of Red Hots I ate in 1983. read more

When I signed up for my colonic I was originally worried because my only experience with it was watching Johnny Knoxville get one on Jackass. I tried to mentally prepare myself for having a stranger's arm halfway up my ass. But when I walked in Patty greeted me right away and gave me a few simple forms to fill out. Then I thought, well at least she's pretty. That might make this better. Or worse? Before I had time to figure out what the better scenario was, I was escorted to a room in the back with a giant machine shaped like a recliner. She explained to me that I was just going to sit in the chair and ease the tiny plastic tube in myself. We went over the instructions and she turned on the machine and let me rest. She periodically checked in on me to see how I was doing. It was painless and relaxing. I felt 1000 times better when I left. Patty is a pro who's been doing this for over 8 years. She's licensed and very accommodating. The best part is that they refer to poop as "results." Had I not been full of water, I would have laughed my ass off. Discovered Rock Solid Health after googling Colo Hydrotherapy in the area. What a peaceful and clean setting. Had gallstone attacks a few months ago and was not going to have any surgery; instead, found a book called "the liver and colon cleanse" by Andreas Moritz (a must read) and did the cleanse (twice now). it requires Colonics on the 6th and 9th day. A great experience even though at times uncomfortable. Such an odd thing to do, but life-changing. And I'm generally in good shape.
