I've been here several times and each time has been a wonderful experience. This isn't a traditional spa, but their spa-like amenities are what keep me going back for a relaxing time. True Rest is one of the very few places in the Austin area that offers float therapy. As a first-timer and now a member, each float benefited me personally with relaxed muscles, soothed joints, and therapeutic sleep. Working at a desk job all week tenses my shoulders and back. It's uncomfortable and stresses me out. But I've felt rejuvenated after each float session. I like to compare it to an experience at the chiropractor, but without the cracking of the spine or neck. The magnesium in the 1,000 lbs of epsom salt in the float pod naturally decompresses my spine, which in turn relaxes my muscles. I'm often in such a relaxed state that I fall asleep while floating, which I hear is the optimal state for a float. Each float pod is in its own private room, and there's a shower with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to wash off all the resaltan afterwards. They also have a free oxygen bar after floating, and a delicious sweet, Egyptian Licorice tea that I like to drink afterwards. They have a get-ready room for anyone needing to go to a function afterwards, and their restrooms are always kept clean and well-stocked. I have also used their vitality suite, which offers a Norwegian sauna, red light therapy, and a cold plunge. I take advantage of all 3 during my sessions and I've been satisfied with the benefits that come from pairing all 3 together. I think a membership there is worth it as it really cuts down the per session cost. That said, I go weekly that serves as my end-of-week reset before the next work week starts. read more

I booked a float session for my husband on Groupon for his birthday and I thought by getting a session for two it would allow me in the facility but it is actually two sessions! It's a good place to relax and I felt rejuvenated after an hour in spa. But if you are claustrophobic then make sure to keep the lights on in the pod. Truly a great experience from start to finish. Placed a phone call to secure the reservation and the gentlemen on the phone was kind and knowledgeable which goes a long way when you're signing up be placed in a tank in a dark room. The process was described perfectly, the video they play right before you go in for your float answers any and ALL questions you may have about the experience. The pre-float area/lobby is clean and has water and tea complimentary. There is an oxygen machine, that was broke when we were there, but is also a cool ad on(I've had it before) and great to experience. The room itself is clean, the tank is clean, the sounds are nice, the rules are explained clearly several times, and it feels safe in secure. For my Birthday this year my cousin decided to treat me to a float therapy for the first time ever. This is something she enjoys doing for her self often. She has shared with me her experiences,which have always sounded amazing . I Love & enjoy everything about a spa /spa type experience. However this experience was not what I expected. We arrived early in hopes of unwinding for a few minutes first (as I had completed paperwork and all asked of me ,online.) Nonetheless as we entered the pod the water was cool @ my room was a bit slippery. Once it was time for me to enjoy the oxygen room ,I waited about 10min (approx) for assistance,as this was my first visit I had no idea how to use the equipment. I have gone to True Rest twice. Trip one - my boyfriend and I went - he was excited, I was nervous as I'm not inclined to enjoy small spaces and imagined this would either be awkward or somewhat relaxing. Well... I was pleasantly surprised. 1. pay attention to the video and instructions, and maybe watch a few YouTube so you more fully understand how to maximize the rest this experience can give you. Don't just go not knowing, I don't think it helps you get the maximum benefit. 2. Ask them to set the room to a temp that you like. My first time I didn't know I could ask that and the room was 67 degrees, so it was cold when I got out of the pod. The second time the room was at 74 and it felt a lot better. 3. I tried positioning myself in different ways, my arms up, to the side, or on my torso. At first, some positions felt slightly painful, but I learned that is part of releasing the tension, as I worked into it, my muscles relaxed so much that I could feel the difference over the next few days when I was working at my laptop - I was so loose and without tension. Wonderful!!!! 4. Go on an empty stomach. All these self-care things seem to feel better when you don't go on a full stomach. 5. If you are using a Groupon or any discount fair - be very clear at reservation and checkout. There was a mix-up with my reservations and I was overcharged. They rectified it but it took a while to sort out. But I highly recommend this place. It was clean, every staff member was super sweet, and the pods with all that salt, made my boyfriend, my niece, and me have smooth skin, relaxed muscles, and soft hair. There is a shower in the room with you, and you can lock the door, so you do have privacy. Now I can't say they have great blow dryers- but they have some if you need them. It is worth going once in a while for sure. And the silence... omg - it was heaven! To lay in this wonderful, body-temperature water, in total darkness (there are soft light options), with not a sound anywhere- I napped in there like a baby! And yes, you can nap, there is so much salt that it is not like normal water, after a few minutes you feel like you are just on a bed. The last thing Id say is for my first trip we went at 7 pm. And I had a lot of energy after, probably because I had just taken such an intense rest - but it kept me from falling asleep until after midnight (I normally sleep by 10 pm). This was one of the most relaxing things I have ever done and I can't stop telling my friends about it! When you walk in, you are welcomed by the receptionist who takes you into a room with a bunch of salt lamps and you watch an introductory video on floating. After the video, you receive a tour of the rest of the facilities (bathrooms/locker rooms and oxygen bar) before you are taken to your pod room. It includes a shower with soap, shampoo and conditioner. Before you enter the pod, you are told to shower and rinse off anything that might be on your skin before getting into the pod. You have the option to float with or without music and can dim the lights from in the pod once you are comfortable inside. And then you... float away! The pod is filled with pounds of Epsom salt and of course water that allow for you to lay perfectly and comfortably on top. My mind and body were so relaxed that I was legitimately sad when my time was up and I had to leave ): Upon the completion of my float, I was offered tea and sat in the oxygen bar for a bit. They have a couple of different "flavors" for you to choose from. Would DEFINITELY recommend and will definitely be back! read more

This was the first time my wife and I tried any type of "float spa". Overall we enjoyed it a lot. The staff was welcoming and friendly as well as informative. The facilities were clean and relaxing, which we enjoyed The floating itself was "odd", my wife suffers from chronic back pain due to a motor vehicle accident and she enjoyed the experience. She isn't one to "relax" either mentally or physically but this was an experience she was able to enjoy. It's a unique way to decompress, not sure if we will join the membership but I could see my self going back to find a great way to just disconnect. I had only floated once before at a different place and wasn't impressed, so it took me a few years to want to try again. This place is so much nicer! The pod rooms have soft lighting and amazing rain shower style showerheads with all the amenities you need: shampoo, conditioner, body soap, towels and ear buds, plus deodorant and hair dryers in the locker room. The pods themselves have doors that close by sliding them as opposed to the clamshell style lid that comes down (for tall folks they do have one of this style). The water is pleasantly warm. You can keep the lights on if you wish, and they have a selection of ambient style music you can ask them to pipe in. The music seems a bit loud for my taste, so I'm experimenting with what is most relaxing. I will say that three floats in, I am finally starting to really feel relaxed and comfortable. My favorite is the relaxation room with the complimentary flavored oxygen bar (fave mix is lavender infused serenity) and the really awesome zen table with marbles that create beautiful patterns in the sand. It's such a chill place. Also love the complimentary hot tea. The price is a bit high, but I took advantage of an all you can float deal for July and I'm enjoying the chance to try floating in all different configurations. read more

I had an incredible experience coming here. My husband and I were hoping to find a float spa closer to us than the one in North West Austin and found this location on Groupon. I've been floating before and while it was a nice facility, my experience wasn't as great. The pods at this facility are larger. I prefer the method in which you open/close the doors on these pods as well. I nearly fell asleep while floating and all of my muscles felt loose and happy when I left. They also have water/tea to enjoy while you are there and a flavored oxygen bar. Very delightful experience for both of us. read more

Not sure a float spa is my thang, so... Got a 2 for 1 around Christmas (thanks Groupon!). We arrived on time, saw a little movie about what to expect but that room where the movie is shown is right by the front door, and there were people coming in, talking loud, and we could not hear the first part of the introductory movie. The volume was really low. So Melissa came to turn up the volume, and to shut the door. By that the time the little presentation was half over. Then another young lady came to take us thru to our rooms, and to show us where things were. She talked very quickly, for our first time for such an unusual experience, I did expect a little more information. And it's not like you can go ask someone in the middle of your float (you do have a button you can push while you are in the chamber to ask someone from the front desk). She gave us just enough information for us to know we had to take off our clothes and get in the chamber. Once I got in the chamber, there was a spray bottle in there that I had no idea what it was for. For instance, you are floating in over 250 lbs of epsom salts - she didn't say anything at all about what to do if you happen to scratch your nose, and that salt gets in your nose, or eyes and can almost make you sick. Well when you are laying there all relaxed, you kinda forget you aren't suppoed to scratch your nose. And you will scratch yourself, the salt can be a little itchy. So then I saw there was a spray bottle hanging on the inside of the chamber where I am floating. I can only hope and assume there is pure water in there. So I sprayed it on my hands and my face, whenever I needed to scratch an itch. The place is VERY humid due to the amount of water and salt hanging in the air. I have asthma so that did not work out so well. The young lady showing us around could have given us tips on how to get out of the chamber. We are already very slippery due to laying in salt water, and we could have used some tips on how to easily get out of that thing, or even some more grab handles somewhere. I didn't like that I coulnd't turn the lights up when I was finished and I had to get dressed almost in the dark in the by now very wet area where I just took a shower. The floor was completely wet due to getting out of the chamber and taking a shower. And now I have to get dressed in the puddles of water? Very little space to move around and no thanks I am not sitting on that teak bench that every other ass has sat upon. There was a little sign in the chamber room that spoke of an area where we could finish getting dressed, but we weren't shown that in the beginning and it wasn't mentioned. At all. We got a 10 minute oxygen bar thingy afterwards. So, this might be your thing, good for you if it is. But I was NOT impressed. read more

The staff was really nice. Since it was my first time, they had me sit in the salt room and watch a video on the service. After it was finished, I was given a tour and explanation of how to prepare myself for and use the pod. I chose to have music only at the beginning and end. You can have it throughout if you like. It was a strange experience - the floating, pure silence and darkness (you can have lights if you want). It made me realize how much activity I'm used to (physical and mental). It, also, made me aware of how much tension I hold in my body. To just be is not something I've done before. I took advantage of the oxygen bar afterwards. I purchased the Valentines package as a date night gift. My partner had never been and I was excited to have her experience true relaxation after a long week. We were toured the facility with another couple, but the lady giving the tour needs to be retrained. It was very abbreviated as if all 4 of us had been there before. In fact, when my partner had to ask a question about the session, the ladies answer was so brief and unclear that one of the other clients that was touring with us, that had clearly done this a couple of times, explained in more detail and actually pointed out the plaque on the wall that gives you step by step instructions should you forget. Probably something the tour guide should have pointed out instead. There were no instructions as to what to do after you shower the 1st time. Just to make sure we shower and wash our hair w shampoo only, and conditioner may be used after we get out. When I was done w my session, my partner was already waiting in the oxygen bar. It wasn't until we left that I asked about her session and she said she was so confused as to what to do. Nothing was explained as to what to do once you get in the pod. Ex: close the pod doors, the lights will go out, the music will start, once the session is over the lights will come on and that's when you'll know your time is up, etc. Because she didn't know any of that, and no idea how long she'd been in, she eventually just got out, showered and went to wait for me. She checked her phone and it had only been 40 minutes since we started. I'm upset and frustrated that her session was cut short because she didn't have proper instruction. The music was another issue, there's no option to sample the music you choose to float to. So if it's not something you like, you're stuck w it for your session. She mentioned that to the receptionist and was THEN told, you can play your own music too if you like. Probably should have been mentioned beforehand. Overall, a disappointing experience for her. read more

Plus you are getting an hour float which personally is worth it. All you do is show up. Everything is provided. I went in for my first float ever yesterday. It was an awesome experience. Jasmine and Taryn (sp) Took great care of me. The appointment started with an informational video to prepare me for the experience. Then I was given a tour of the facility. Finally I was escorted to my pod room and Taryn told me everything I needed to know to have a successful float. It was different and not like anything I've ever done before. One of my favorite things about the experience was the peace and quiet and alone time. After my float I was able to take a shower and sit in a special room they have set up. I sipped the most delicious tea and Took advantage of the oxygen bar. That was a first for me too. Finally I was able to take advantage of their July special where I will experience unlimited floats. I'm super excited that I went and I look forward to my appointment next week. If you're on the fence just jump over it and give it a try. You won't regret it. I also want to mention that I was in a great deal of pain when I arrived. After my float my pain had decreased by at least 70 %. read more
