I am a fan of True Rest floats. The float experience is absolutely wonderful in terms of stress reduction and a general feeling of calm well-being, and the atmosphere at True Rest, both before, and after your float, enhances that feeling. In my recent visit, I tried their Vitality Suite, which consists of a combo of infrared sauna, red light therapy, and a cold plunge. The attendant was very nice as she described the process. Unlike the float, which has an automatic timer built in, the vitality suite experience is one in which you are expected, or at least encouraged, to watch the clock. I wondered whether 45 minutes might actually be too long, but it was not. Not at all, actually. By the time I showered, got heated up in the sauna, and got myself into the cold plunge, which is very, very cold, the clock said I was 36 minutes into my 45! Since I had seen no other customers, I didn't think anyone would be pounding on the door, but still, I felt constrained and not relaxed at having to watch the clock. I tried the red light therapy, but felt no sense that it was doing anything for me. Maybe my cells were regenerating without my knowledge. So back into the sauna, then back into the cold plunge, and by then I was well over my time. When I was showered and dressed, I saw the attendant had just come to check on me, but I didn't really feel any time pressure, except what was self-imposed. But that still made the experience less relaxing than it should've been. The elegant one-person sauna was nicer than the one I use at my gym, and the cold plunge was much colder, which was bracing. But overall, I was not especially impressed with the vitality suite since it is pretty much what I already do at my gym. I would come back and pay the pricey price for floats at True Rest, but the vitality suite experience did not work for me. read more

I went into this experience expecting to love it - I got the pure silence I craved. The facility was very clean, and I felt comfortable being there. The float itself was good, a strange sensation, but I can see why people love it (especially after a few times to get used to it). My biggest problem was that the light switch inside my pod didn't work, and that triggered a little bit of my panic reflex. I ended up cracking the pod open a couple times to calm myself down, and that detracted from the experience. read more

Received a float as a gift and I was apprehensive the whole drive there. The staff greeted me and explained the whole process. After the tour I was ready and all I can say is floating is all that people say it is. The rooms are clean and everything you need is available. Once I got out of my own head and relaxed I fell asleep losing track of time. I went in with some serious aches, afterwards I felt incredible. There is a relaxation room with oxygen, water and herbal tea. It's a salt water pod so even though lotion is provided I bought my own. I will definitely find a spa when I return to FL. read more

Meh, I guess I got my hopes set to high and found myself thinking "did I just pay for this?" You are taken to a room that has a pod in it. They give you the run down and ask you if you want music or no music and then tell you how to close the pod and to shower prior to going in. The concept seems cool but then 10 minutes in I found myself asking how much longer do I have till this is done? I was told that usually you'd have access to the oxygen bar, but due to COVID they aren't doing that right now. Overall I've had better floating experiences in the pool in my moms back yard (which is also salt water). Checked it off the list, not for me, won't be back. read more

I did Float Therapy and experienced the Oxygen Bar for the first time yesterday...and I'm ready to tell my story 50 pounds of salt felt slippery than expected. The water is set at body temperature (93-95) it does get kinda warm in there since you're detoxing. Music is available, you can use the neon light or have it pitch black (my fav) it was AMAZING! I still feel refreshed and calm. I ended up signing up for a monthly membership because I need this in my life on a regular! The Oxygen Bar was dope as well! The Proponents of oxygen "therapy" say its to boosts energy levels, increases your endurance during exercise, helps you bounce back more quickly from physical exertion, provides relief from stress and pollution, increases your concentration, helps you relax, and eases headaches and hangovers. Tried this as something new and different and wow it is! The staff is welcoming and professional. My first float was interesting, it took a minute for me to feel relaxed but it was an interesting almost dream state, it went fast after I let myself relax and lessons learned wear something loose to these sessions, you will be warm to hot after the session and bring a comb and hair product to get the tangles out if you have long hair. The lounge are is inviting and relaxing for the post rest and the tea is always yummy. Enjoying these sessions as it allows me to let go of the weekly stressors and clear my head. read more

I came here yesterday and was so incredibly excited for my first time with this experience. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations and I really didn't enjoy it at all. Upon first entering, you will be asked to complete a short waiver. If you have recently dyed your hair or are on your period...reschedule. From my understanding, the water is filtered but reused, so if they can't reuse the water it's a $750 charge. This makes sense because there is a lot of work and money that goes into filling the pods. After completing the survey, you are directed to the "TV Room," which is basically a space with some chairs and a TV on the wall. Once everyone for your time slot has arrived, they will begin the video. It is a brief 6-minute informative video that goes over the pods and their purpose. From there you are given a "tour" through the lounging room to the pods where they further explain how they work. Your session will begin exactly at your scheduled time, so don't be late. Each of the rooms contains a private pod and a shower, so you don't have to bring a swimsuit and I was actually recommended not to bring one because of all the salt in the water - it can cause a really tough time for cleaning your suit! The first step is to shower with the provided shampoo and body wash. They do also provide ear plugs and recommend you use these prior to the shower, but having been a swimmer for years, I elected not to use these. To begin your float, there is 5 minutes of soothing classical music that will play. The rooms also have a 5-minute timer on the motion-detecting lights, so you'll want to be in the pod so the music can end when the lights go off. The pods themselves also have an internal light with two settings - on or off. I was in the first pod, and unfortunately it could not close all the way so I was cold the entire time I was in the water due to a draft coming in from the room. Because of this, I had a very hard time relaxing, getting comfortable, and I honestly did not enjoy my experience. At the end of your time in the pod, the music will begin again. At this point you have 5 minutes left, but I got out pretty much right away because again, I didn't enjoy my experience. However, what I noticed right away when I turned the light in the pod back on was the mold.... Not something I was excited to see. I showered, got dressed, and headed out to the lounging room even though I was not relaxed, tired, or refreshed (I felt exactly the same as I did before this) to color and try the oxygen bar (which is included in every float). My scent was jasmine for relaxation and I thought it was just really subtle, but discovered about halfway through my time that I actually just hadn't been getting any oxygen or scent because it suddenly turned on. I will say that everyone was very pleasant and chill, but this experience for me just wasn't a good one. The pods look cool but I don't think I'll ever do this again and it really just felt like a waste of my time and money. The attendant was nice enough - she welcomed me and offered water and tea. As a person who has had a regular floating practice for a decade, I didn't appreciate being forced to spend 15(!) minutes watching a poorly made video detailing the history of floating and "what to expect in my first float session." The attendant knew I float regularly and we discussed that I've been to one of the other True Rest facilities before. I should have been able to opt out of the video as it was a complete waste of my time. The float pod had a stain on the bottom. The shower area was grimy and in need of repair, with dated tile work and visible rust. My float was fine and I felt better afterward but on the whole this wasn't the best float experience. It was cleaner and less hippie-obnoxious than the Ocean Lab, but the overall aesthetic, policy on watching the video, and video itself all badly need a refresh. I miss the old Zero Gravity Institute! read more

I wasn't sure what to expect and am claustrophobic so a little nervous and hesitant. My husband got this for me for Mother'sDay and I know I needed to relax.... so I went. The space is very nice and the ambiance was relaxing. The float was very strange at first. I kept the door open. Then gradually felt brave and closed it. It was an amazing sensation and I forgot where I was. The million thoughts swarming in my head were eventually gone and then it was over and I felt I was floating in space. Exhilarating. Relaxing. Kristen and Tanner were the two most welcoming people during this amazing experience! I was new to True REST Float Spa and they were very eager to answer all my questions I had. They offered my girlfriend and I tea right away when we were there, some Eqyptian-Cinnamon flavored tea that was some of the best tea I've ever tasted. You have to arrive a little before your float time to check in, get all rinsed off and situated because right at your appointment time is when you are supposed to be ready to float. If you never tried this, IT IS NECESSARY that you put it on your bucket list to at least try! But I warn you...go once and you'll wonder why you have never done this before. The experience was the most relaxing my body has ever been able to experience. The entire place was so comfy, warming, and accommodating. The body wash, shampoo and conditioner they provide is excellent quality, my skin and hair felt so soft afterwards!! They have a little hygiene room where they provide hair dryers, straighteners, curlers, Qtips, deodorant, extra towels, lotion. Pretty much anything you would need! Afterwards, they have an oasis room where you can enjoy some more tea (yassss), enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, and enjoy a complimentary 10 minutes at the oxygen bar for first-time visitors. Overall, our experience was unlike no other! You do your research and read articles and watch videos but everyone's outcome is different. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and came here to float with my husband for his birthday (birthday wish granted). From the initial phone booking and rescheduling to the in-person interaction, everyone we interacted with portrayed outstanding customer service! You truly feel welcomed and wanted here! Going anywhere during Covid-19 while pregnant is a scary thought, but honestly I'm one of the one's who just can't stay put and I'm gaining weight and starting to feel the pressure on my lower back so I wanted to try this to alleviate some of the pain. Tanner was the one who showed us around and he wore a mask and they had hand sanitizer available. He gave us a tour of the facility and a quick run down of how the pod operates and to shower beforehand and afterwards. For my experience, the first few minutes were achy and my body felt really stiff and tense. I turned off the lights and then started to really relax and my body let itself unwind so gloriously. Then midway through I started to get restless and then it felt too humid so I cracked the pod to get some cool air. I thought about how me and my baby were both floating. One in amniotic fluid in my tummy and one in salt water in a pod. It made me really feel at one with my baby. I know cheesy right, lol, but it was truly an experience like none other for me and even more so since I'm pregnant! My husband said he had his pod closed the entire time with the lights off and he loved it! We both experienced some tightness and nerve jerking in the beginning but then our bodies settled down and we were able to relax. Overall, we enjoyed every aspect of it and would do it again! Stressed out? You definitely won't be after a visit here. This place can for fulfill your sci-fi dream of going inside of a giant egg shaped pod. Plus, you will feel like you're floating in space with your brain in a jar, which is a pretty neat experience. It's a little escape from reality without going into a dream like state. Some say that you feel like you are inside your mothers womb when inside of one of these things, which is an interesting thought, but I think it's more like a galaxy floating experience without the instant hypothermia. Okay, ethereal description aside, True Rest Austin presented itself to me one day while scrolling through glorious Groupon. I've heard and read about sensory deprivation before, and was itching to try it. This spa had the lowest rates in Texas when I searched for it, and I think this is the best option in the long run. First off, the pods are sooo much cooler in person. Second, the spa experience was so calming and clean. The shower space and bench setup was right next to the pod, so the transition was seemless. Third, after your first float, you are offered an oxygen therapy session for free! There's 3 flavors: vanilla, lavender and ocean breeze. My advice for everyone reading this, yes YOU, is to go try this out! You will NOT regret it and will want to come crawling back ASAP. The customer service at the Manchaca location is stellar. I came on the wrong night for my time and she rescheduled my appointment. Absolutely fabulous service, very relaxing, very clean, great amenities. I needed to relax before my upcoming surgery, and I will be a repeat customer in the future after I am healed. I don't love this location. Fluorescent lights in the pod rooms and the 'oasis room' is extremely underwhelming. There's no privacy for journaling or meditation after your float and the cups to drink hot tea out of are styrofoam (the whole place just seemed like they cut corners on everything to save money)... No enclosed showers (it's freezing after your float) and the staff rushed me through my whole experience. It definitely seemed like they very much lacked enthusiasm for connecting with the customers and were more focused on quantity over quality honestly. $100 later and I left more stressed than I walked in. Also the oxygen bar used to be free and now it's $10. Although I do love the South Austin location, I would never return to this one on Research BLVD! read more

That is FIRST CLASS customer service. Some tips for fellow first-time floaters: -You can play your own music (via standard auxiliary plug) -Bring flip flops -You control the light/darkness, sounds -There is an intercom in the tub at arms reach -There's a small room to finish getting ready post-soak (float rooms are totally private, but the getting ready room is co-ed) -Free use of their oxygen bar if you've floated Clean, spacious and relaxing environment with wonderful staff who truly want you to have a first class experience. When I watched a video on floating in a sensory deprivation tank in the early 90s, I knew I wanted to experience that or something similar. My spouse gave me a gift card to True Test Float Spa for my birthday in August 2022. While celebrating my birthday in Mexico, something tragic happened, and I didn't want to use my floats. Finally, I'm ready now (July 2023), and I reached out the company and shared that I something tragic happened and that I misplaced my gift card. Sadly, the Manager/Owner's response was: "Thank you for reaching out to us. All of our floats remain active for 180 days. I do see you had vouchers purchased August 2022, and unfortunately expired February 15, 2023. We are very sorry to hear about your situation and would love to be a part of your journey moving forward. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in scheduling a float, we are happy to accomodate you whenever you are ready." Yes, yes, yes...I definitely understand rules, deadlines, and etc. personally and professionally. And from a lifetime of exploring exceptions to rules and regulations in professional encounters, as well as personal, I know there's a better approach than what was offered to me. Super cold, room was freezing, dirty a bit. Shower water was super cold or super hot. I had a gift card which is presented It to them at the beginning, and they told me it's on the file so no need to present it again. At the end the lady front desk chased us down and told us how we didn't pay. Tod, appreciate the reply. 1, u were not there when It happened so I'm not sure how you are commenting about It. I didn't ignore her and immediately stopped approached her and pull up my payment making sure everything was ok. Shift change is not my problem and ur employees not doing their job is not my problem either. I don't think ur employee had any right to embarrass me like that 2. Omg I've had a Groupon since January, I'm so glad I finally used it! AND I bought a monthly membership! Floating is so relaxing. For my first time I closed the lid, left the blue light on, and had no sound. It took about 5-10min (I'm guessing) for my mind to quiet and then once I started counting my breaths, the time went by so quickly. The 60min went by in what seemed like 5min. Afterwards, I enjoyed the oxygen bar with bayberry scent. It was such a relaxing time! read more

I have been to a few different float spas in Austin and I have to say, there's really not much difference between them all... This was the first place that made us watch a video beforehand which felt very unnecessary. They have a great Groupon deal right now if you want to try it! UPDATE: I signed up for the membership--4 floats a month. These hour long floats leave me feeling better than a massage, and cost a lot less. I just finished my fifth float. I am relaxed. This is no small thing for me. As I float there, the mind is all over the place at first, doing what minds do. As I bring my attention to my breath, over and over again, my mind gradually downshifts. My parasympathetic nervous system kicks in and I feel waves of relaxation wash within me. When the float ends, I feel light, a feeling that lasts all day. ------------ There are lots of reviews detailing the new floater orientation , so I won't go over all that again. I spent a lot of my first float feeling awkward--Awkward in the water, awkward in my mind, awkwardly aware of pain in my neck and arm that I usually ignore, awkwardly unable to breathe through my nose, etc. noisy awkward mind junk. At some point, though, the pain dissolved and I felt my mind down-shift. Time ran out at some point soon after, and I realized that I inexplicably felt refreshed rather than awkward--just at the end there. So, I'm going to explore this a bit and go a few times more. First time floater and I have to say, this was truly a unique experience. Upon entering, the staff greeted me with a smile and answered any questions I had about floating. After watching a short intro video I was taken to my float suite and given instructions on how the float pod works. First you put your ear plugs in, shower and put on petroleum jelly for any cuts/scrapes you might have. Once I entered the pod. I opted for total darkness for the "entire experience". At first it was hard to calm my thoughts, but once my body relaxed it was incredible. I felt like I was floating in space in zero gravity. The directions are clear from the workers and posted inside each room and once you figure out how to truly let go of your thoughts, it's a life changing experience. Great concept and nice facility but horribly managed business. We signed up for a monthly membership but after a few months we decided it wasn't what we needed. I called to cancel, but was told I needed to email to cancel. I emailed to cancel and never heard back. We were charged another month. I called again and was told the manager would call me back because "I had to cancel through the North location not the south location". I never got a call. I emailed again and never heard back. I called and never left a voicemail and never heard back. Emailed again to no avail. Super disappointing because we still planned to go in on occasion but didn't want the monthly membership. AMAZING experience! The staff was friendly, the whole establishment looked, felt and smelled clean. Each room is private with your own shower and float pod. I have severe claustrophobia as well as the fear of drowning so I was a tad bit nervous. However, the pod itself was fairly large with plenty of space to move around, sit up, etc. you also have complete control over the lighting inside of your pod during your float. I left mine on. They provided ear plugs and a little floating pillow that worked wonders for keeping my face out of the water. Before I knew it, an hour had gone by and I didn't want to leave :( definitely recommend this place!! read more

This was my first time floating and I was looking forward to relaxing via some sensory deprivation. The space was nice enough (definitely bring flip-flops for the shower--they provide towels, earplugs, shampoo/conditioner, soap and vaseline for the float room but I didn't see flip flops...maybe you have to request them?) but it was hard to fully drop in once I was in the float tank because the motion-sensor light in the room kept going off and on, even though I had the pod door closed. It kind of defeated the purpose of sensory deprivation since I found myself anticipating when the lights would go off/on again...very annoying. I mentioned this to the front desk staff on my way out and they didn't seem overly concerned about resolving the issue; came off as a bit inattentive. I overall enjoyed the experience but I don't think I would return to this same establishment. read more

Called to book and got an automated system. I was quoted a 5:30 appointment then confirmed my payment details. Then I received a text saying that time slot was unavailable. They were unable to connect me with a person and I had to wait to speak with a human. Terrible customer service, I would not recommend. UPDATE: Automated system never had the front desk call me back. So I drove down there to confirm the automated system (truelark) didn't confirm an appointment for Monday after the bait and switch time. The person at the front desk was very nice. They confirmed the system has issues, and the customer in the lobby said they encountered the same thing the same problem. Looking into other foot tanks. Fix your booking system please. read more

The environment and people there are great. It looks and feels clean and refreshing. Everything was also super easy to use. I'm not a huge fan of water, but this was good. I've been super stressed and sleep deprived this week, but I'm pretty sure my whole body shut down for that hour. I got out feeling energized and ready to get the day started. I floated for the first time at a spa in Houston. I was told it would help my TMJ as well as help stem some of the effects of PTSD I've had since coming home from Iraq eleven years ago. My first time floating wasn't the best. I get panicky when I'm in enclosed spaces with water involved. I'm not claustrophobic; I just don't like the idea of being trapped in an enclosed space in water. True Rest offers a free float to veterans on the 11th of each month, so I decided to book my second float. The staff is very helpful here, and the facility is nice. My only complaint (and it's not so much of a complaint) is that the water in my pod was a little bit cool. But this might've been due to the temperature of the water when I showered before getting in the pod. My advice would be to regulate the water temperature in the showers and keep it around 93.7 degrees - this way your skin isn't overheated when you get in the pod. I really enjoyed my experience here and will be returning at least once a month. If you've never floated before, you should try it - it truly is the most relaxing thing I've ever experienced. read more
