Let me preface this by saying I've been coming here off and on,(when I'm in pain) for a number of years- the first time was for severe chronic pain in my lower back where I could not even sit still without a dull heavy pain. Previous to this I'd been to other highly recommended Chiropractors to no avail. Let me just say, Chris Sellars- the man with steel fingers-is a miracle worker. This morning, I literally could not roll over in bed- barely got out- without STABBING pain in my right hip-mind you, I'm pretty tolerant to pain. I called this morning-should have called yesterday-they got me in right away and I can now move my leg! Background: I broke my knee 4 years ago. Split in half while running into a pole (it was pretty dumb) during a basketball game. While I wasn't in pain in the moments after the break, I couldn't then comprehend how much pain I would be in during my recovery. I did go to a physical therapist in Virginia. They gave me the Russian (ice pack, stem, and muscle strain) and had me ride the bike . Since that time, I've continued to struggle with knee pain and I haven't been able to play much basketball. Fast forward to my first visit to Performance Wellness. I called the office and Dr. Olsen picked up. I explained my situation to him to see what he could do because I thought he was merely a chiropractor pretending to have a physical therapy office. I could not have been more wrong. If you could have an adjustment, ART (Active Release Technique) and work out with a dedicated, easy going therapist like Dan--all in one appointment--why wouldn't come to Performance Wellness. These guys are nice, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Coming from a guy that demands the same level of care from others that I give in my profession, this compliment is everything. After just a few painless visits, my quad and muscles around my knee are stronger than ever since the surgery. I just played 3 back to back basketball games (full court) this past Wednesday. So there was a host of issues when I went there. The doctor didn't take my pain or issues seriously. Told me people had been in pain for much longer than I had. And then when I was stretching they kept telling me to smile. However, the biggest issue was the chiropractor didn't identify my scoliosis. It took going to a female chiropractor who actually listened and took x-rays. I found out my left hip was twisted and had some arthritis in it. The whammy though was finding out that I had mild scoliosis. This doctor told me I was crying over spilled milk basically and didn't run any tests. What good is a chiropractor if they can't even identify mild scoliosis. Or they decide by looking at me what must 'really' be happening. Highly unprofessional. Would give them negative 700 stars if I could as this is the amount of dollars they have cost me because they have no idea what they are doing. Dr Sellers ordered the wrong scans, which the next doctor said were now useless, and I had to get redone. The scan facility tried to call them 3 times and no one answered, because the front desk refuses to answer phones or respond to emails, when they do respond it is in all caps with no information. Besides screwing up the MRIs completely, they charged me $300 for making me sit in a massage chair for 10 minutes and doing 20 pushups by myself. Going to take legal action against them for fraud, as they fraudulently said they were able to provide treatment & help, must have been an April fools joke, although it was not April fools, only my time and money was fooled (by them). read more

I realized I had an awful pain in my neck. The infamous crick in the neck. I have no idea how I got it, but there it was wreaking havoc. I couldn't turn to my right without turning my whole body. I called Performance Wellness and was able to get in to see Dr. Olson. Dr Olson is very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. After diagnosing my ailment he was able to start treatment. I tell you, it was like magic. After stretches, adjustments and ART, I am able to turn my neck and a majority of the pain is gone. What a blessing! I'm going to go in a few more times to continue treatment until it is all better and less likely to happen again. I'm thinking of going for the lifetime membership. I've been doing a lot of trail running and I kinda/sorta overdid it and my calves were having definite issues. I went back to see my chiro here, Chris Sellers, who is an awesome therapist and just a great guy. It took a couple of months but he got my calves back together and I thought I was done. Not so fast . . . I was trail running at Bull creek on some technical stuff and spaced for a second coming down wrong on my ankle which cracked seriously loud (the runner in back of me clearly heard it and said "oh shit dude"). So I was back to see Chris with a badly sprained ankle. Chris: Yep, you tore your XXX and your YYY and your MMM bone isn't floating anymore. Not to worry, we'll get you back running in no time. Came in for a pulled muscle in my core / back. Left feeling worse, and no better later from having gone. This place came up as one of the highest rated when I searched for "physical therapy". Guess that's Yelp's fault, but this place is all Chiropractic. Here's the reasons for the 1 star: - technique: ART basically just seems like assisted stretching. there was no massage of the muscle, or any real hands on treatment. nothing i couldn't have a friend do at home with me. get this book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1572243759?tag=itsalgo-20 and a Theracane. maintain / treat yourself and save hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars in physical therapy later. -- treatment time: treated for about 15 minutes by the chiropractor, did basically 2 stretches, and then 10 minutes of electrical stem. and then they told me to drink water and come back again. yea, right. -- instructions: had to ask multiple questions as to what I should do next (besides schedule another appointment). no diagrams of what I should be doing at home, or real ideas of what is gonna help me get better. I asked the doctor exactly what I had done, and I've never gotten such a vague "diagnosis" as he gave me. -- staff: assistants seemed like they were in training. doctor kept telling them what to do, and often had to correct them because they had done something wrong with me. great, i didn't come to you for a job as a crash test dummy. - price: for the amount of time i was actually being worked with, $130 is ridiculous (that's the cost without insurance). - information gathering: had to fill out 4 forms front & back, some of which asked the same exact things. then had to explain my situation to the doctors assistant, then to the doctor, then yet again to the exercise assistant. There just simply isn't enough reviews from people who are familiar with physical therapy. I've been to maybe a dozen people in my life who have worked with mucscloskeletal systems (from chiropractors to massage therapists to rolfing to physical therapists to etc etc). I have to add that this place has massage therapists. If you want a good deep tissue massage, Katie C. is your go to girl. You meet her and she seems like the sweetest, nicest, and possibly "on the gentler side" massage therapist and then she gets to work on you and she really puts the hurt on! If you are looking for a spa like zen experience, this is not the place. The rooms are small, iPod music plays, and some outside noises seem to seep into the massage room, but I honestly could care less about that stuff. As long as the massage is legit (and it is), I'm all over it. I don't even need to tell Katie where to work or what to fix, it's like her hands just find the trouble spots. I had an extra crunchy neck from working late nights, swimming (breathing on one side can really tense up the neck), biking on some fine Texas chip seal, and running with tensed up shoulders. My legs were toast from weekend training and I felt like I had been hit by a mac truck. After my massage, I really and truly felt like wonder woman. I was sad it was over (even though some of it hurt) after 60 minutes. Hallelujah for Katie C.! read more

Solid five stars? Solid truth. This office truly works as a team! That is the #1 best thing about it, closely followed by the hospitality and friendliness everyone shows. Dr. Sellers and Dr. Olson are truly concerned about their patients, and always make sure everything is good before finishing up. Then, they'll send you on over to PT with one of their awesome guys, and you will FEEL THE BURN! But seriously - if you have a sports injury, or heck, even just a sleeping injury - give them a try. My exam with Dr. Chris Olson was great, however my checkout experience was awful. Perform well is contracted with my insurance company. I owe a copay for the visit and the insurance contracted amount/allowable for the physical therapy (exercises $85) and ice ($15). I think it is a bit ridiculous to charge $15 to place an ice pack on my back. This is something I could have done at home. The checkout person could not give me and itemized statement for services rendered and I was charged $160 which I was required to pay at the time of service. I am extremely uncomfortable being expected to pay $160 without an itemization for services. I should have only had to pay my copay $50 and the insurance contracted rate for the physical therapy and ice. My total due should have been $94.05 not $160. I was overcharged nearly $66.00. I have been a medical practice administrator for 30 years and a certified coder for 5. I have never been to an office where they could not provide me with an itemization of services rendered or the contracted insurance allowable for each service. I wouldn't have minded paying the $160 if I had received an explanation of the charges. Although Dr. Olson's treatment did improve my symptoms, I will not be back. Now I will await my refund. read more

I have been going to performance wellness for the last month after receiving some sort of lower back SI joint inflammation/butt pain. I have been working with Dr. Kramer and overall my experience has been positive and I would recommend for athletes looking for a local ART place. Positives: -Does an initial consultation to asses area of pain and listens to detailed history. -Performs ART on affected area and any contributing areas -Includes strength training exercises to strengthen weak muscles that have contributed to break down. -Love the techs, Sarah and Dan are awesome and always so positive, seems like they actually enjoy their jobs! -Includes E-stem therapy -Optional dry needling Negatives: -Felt it could have been a little more aggressive in the beginning, but I think this could be a matter of feeling out the patient's body and their response to any treatment. I really enjoyed working with Dr. Kramer - she tries to make you feel at ease about your progression, is supporting, and found her and Jonathon to both be knowledgeable. It seems like all of the doctors there are pretty good, and sometimes you may rotate depending on availability. Also, I never had a problem getting an appointment at a time that worked for me. Would give this a try for sports injuries, and the sooner you go after your symptoms set in, the quicker the down time. read more

Visited Performance Wellness for the first time today. Here are my thoughts... Sarah at the front office was extremely nice and polite, both on the phone and in the office. Dr. Olson was extremely professional, yet friendly. I came in with some lower back and shoulder pain that have developed recently, and left feeling so much better than when I arrived thanks to some of his amazing A.R.T. work. After that, Kyle explained and helped me work through some daily stretches to provide additional relief, followed by some awesome rest in a zero-gravity chair while heat was applied to my lower back. I first started going to performance wellness last year, and have been going to Dr. Kramer. The place itself is well run, and you are in and out quickly. Aside from the normal adjustment I have tried e-stem, acupuncture and dry needling. For about a decade I had been getting off and on knots in one shoulder pretty badly. After a couple rounds of dry needling last October the knot has not come back. (4 months so far) I'm the typical sit in office chair at a computer person, so I still go every month for a round of adjustments. There are a few very good doctors I've heard about in their office, but I have only gone to Dr. Kramer. Positives: Several doctors to see . Very easy to schedule a visit via phone. ART, e-stem, acupuncture, dry needling, physical training. They have a few adjustment rooms, so you don't wait for doctors long. They have plenty of tables for people to get e-stem work, etc at the same time. Place is very quite. There is a decent size exercise area for PT work. Several PT trainers to help out so you don't have to wait. Personality: Dr. Kramer has to be just about the sweetest person. I've referred several coworkers to her in the past, and they all comment about her personality as outstanding. I can't say enough good things about Performance Wellness. I have been a client since 2008. During that time I have completed 2 Ironman tris, 4 marathons, and countless half-marathons and tris. Through it all Dr. Sellers and his staff have been there to help me. Anytime an injury got me sidetracked, I knew I could count on Dr. Sellers and his staff to fix me up. The combination of great chiropractic work with ART is the perfect mix. They have helped me with everything - bike crashes, plantar facistis, knee pain, shoulder damage...whatever the injury may be they keep fixing me up. It is important to know that the staff at Performance Wellness focuses on teaching you what you need to do to prevent an injury reoccuring - so when you go expect to get some "homework". Consistent and disciplined stretching and focus on your trouble spots using stretching and self-massage techniques is essential. I remember being doubtful at first, but after noticeable results almost immediately I became a believer. I have been going to see Katie C. since 2008. She is the best massage therapist that I have ever encountered (and that is a lot!). I go to her at least once a month to get some maintenance done on my neck and lower back. I was on crutches 2x (for a long period of time) during the last 4 years and she really helped me to get my body to loosen up again. She seems to know the "trouble" spots intuitively and does amazing work. She takes great pride in her work. I cannot say enough good things about her! I almost don't want to write this review because she has been my little secret but that is selfish and she deserves all the props! If you want a truly professional massage that will get into the muscles and really feel a difference, Katie is your girl. I began going to Performance Wellness last year, and absolutely love it! Dr. Kramer is wonderful. She always takes the time to ask me how I'm doing, and truly cares about how I feel. In the past, other chiropractors have simply adjusted me, and hurried me on my way. Dr. Kramer has always taken her time with me, and has never rushed me through. I've been seeing Dr. Chris Olson for about 6 years on and off. I'm a formal college athlete and the many, many years of playing basketball has taken a toll on my 6 ft frame. And then add that to sitting at a desk for 8+ hours a day. Whether it's a hurt shoulder or an injured back, I can always rely on Dr. Olson to get me feeling better. While ART does hurt in some cases and places, I know the benefits outweigh the temporary discomfort. The rest of the staff is friendly and great. I love this place! Tamara at the front desk is so helpful. Dan pushes me with physical therapy while explaining why different exercises help me in different ways and making sure I have proper form while staying relaxed, as the exercises are only effective if you keep your muscles relaxed and keep breathing. Dr Sellers in the Best!!! I have had a few different chiropractors and physical therapists as I move around a lot, but Dr Seller's combination of muscular manipulation, chiropractic care, and physical therapy has made huge progress in my back issues and feel better than it has in years! I have been going to PW since 2014 and have nothing but great things to say about their office. First, you will always be greeted by warm smiles from the front desk. The ladies up here are such an essential part to why this office flows so smoothly at each visit. They are patience and always take the time to answer any of my questions, and if they don't have the answer, they are willing to find it and get back to you. As for the doctors, I have seen them all; Dr. Sellers, Dr. Shaner, and Dr. Olson, however this review is for Dr. Olson, due to being his ongoing patient. I have been a chiropractic patient for over 6 years, and go for adjustments more on maintenance plan. He always recommends a specific plan, especially when I have any flareups. He is very thorough with the initial evaluation, and every visit after that. He listens to my complaints, and can typically find discomfort that I don't mention. If you follow his treatment plans and, work on your exercises and therapy I guarantee you will feel better in good time. He is very knowledgeable, and truly cares about his patients. If I happen to miss an appointment, or have a new injury, he is very accommodating with his schedule and gets me in immediately. I also appreciate that if I don't make it in for a good amount of time, he will call or send a text to see how I am doing. I always refer him to anyone who has any kind of issues (chiropractic) that I think he can work through. Working on your exercises are essential to getting better, and with the crew they have working with you, you'll stay motivated to keep doing them. Dan will have you laughing to the point you don't even realize you are doing stretches and exercises. All the techs are great and very knowledgable, and hearing they make you do exercises can be intimidating, but don't let that stop you, they modify for your comfort. And for one of my favorite reasons I continue to keep going to Performance Wellness are their massage therapist. I have had some of the best massages, and feel that the therapist are a huge part of me being able to stay on a maintenance plan with the doctors. From my most recent encounters, this review will be for Melissa Levin and Nicole Poole. To start, I can't get enough massages, and Melissa Levin is an amazing therapist. I've seen her for specific issues, and every time she addressed them and worked on those areas, I've noticed immediate relief. She is very in-tuned with her techniques and her clients. She is professional and at times I go in with wanting her to figure out what kind of massage my body needs, and she is very good at reading that. Nicole is just as great, and her hours work well for needing late evening times. She has such a soft tone to her voice which relaxes me, and her touch is the same. Be open with her so she can address your problem areas. Both therapist will ask what part of the body you want them to work on, so be open with them so they can address your issues. If they happen to notice you're tighter in certain areas, they will work through it all while educating you, and giving you advise on how to work on it at home. You might not realize, but they communicate with your doctor to make sure they are addressing your problem areas, which is great because as a whole, the entire office cares about your health and getting you better with their care. read more

Dr. Sellers is the best PT/Chiropractor I've ever been to. I have a chronically bad ankle I injured in high school. A few months ago it became swollen and painful from over use - no acute injury. I went to Dr. Sellers and he immediately diagnosed the problem and began working his magic. I saw immediate improvement after one visit and after four visits my ankle is dramatically better. Swelling is 50% reduced, and it's stronger and more flexible. I would recommend him in a heart beat. His staff is friendly and attentive as well. read more

I feel bad writing this 'cause I think everyone here is nice, but....here's the skinny, yo. I spent a lot of time and money at PW from a referral from my PCP. To be exact, 7 months straight and almost $2,000. What the whatwhat you say? Yeah. Meeee too. I was in a lot of pain and pretty desperate to get out of it. Did I get better? Improve? Have my pain levels decrease? Slightly. Finally, My wallet got tired of being told to come back, and I started to question why the heck I wasn't improving. Why so much musclar pain? I'm not a triathlete, and was hardly even exercising due to the muscular pain I was experiencing. When I mentioned "uh, this is getting expensive for me" and I'm not going to the back room to save money", I was told "you just gotta budget". Ha. You budget, buddy. So I went home, did some research on the good ol' internet and all of my symptoms lead me to believe "hey, me thinks (for the cost of nothing), that perhaps me has a magnesium deficiency.". So I called my PCP, got inspected by her, and yeah, I was correct. Three weeks later on a high dose of magnesium my pain levels drastically improved and Ta-da! I can exercise once again, AND I no longer have constant muscular pain. I wish I had figured this out sooner before "budgeting" myself out of $2,000 and into a chronic level of pain. read more

After three half-marathons, several 10K's and many miles, my body gave out on me. I ended up having sciatica. I heard about Performance Wellness Center from Dr. Jonathan Shaner who's currently treating me right now. Dr. Shaner comes once a month to my running group, Al's Ship of Fools for active release treatment. My sciatica kept on getting worse with each day. Luckily, I didn't need a primary care physician referral and I just made an appointment with Dr. Shaner or the head of my group would call him Dr. Jonathan. He has been awesome helping me with my injury. I am confident I can start training for the Portland Marathon, my first full marathon soon. read more

As far as the treatments go, they're fabulous. The therapists are approachable, friendly, and really know their business. It's the office side of things that drops my rating from a 5 to a 3. I was told when I went there that they had been in touch with my insurance and that I was completely covered for four visits a year. I was even shown a printout with all that in black and white. I was asked to pay for the two visits I had scheduled in advance, however, and was told that the payment would be returned to me. As it turns out, that wasn't at all accurate. My insurance didn't cover the treatments and there's no $ coming back to me. I know it's difficult to assign blame here...but I didn't appreciate being told by PWC that I was fully covered when I wasn't. Nor did I enjoy being harangued on the phone to make more appointments -- staff was a little too persistent and abrasive. Whatever. Bottom line -- if you're in physical pain, you won't be after you see these folks. But there might be some emotional grief that takes its place. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! That;s how I feel about hte entire crew at Performance Wellness. They are all so positive and encouraging. they are all involved in some sort of athletics so they understand that I don't want to be told not to run, bike, etc. They work with me on adjustments, massage, Active Release, and PT to help me continue what I have been doing, only more comfortably. Dr. Laurie Buob is the BOMB! I have been her patient for over 2 years and she nursed my near-compartment-syndrome calves through my first marathon. Not once did she say "your fat booty shouldnt be running a marathon". I went in with a pinched nerve somewhere in my hip region, only 3 weeks before my first MS150, and she and Phil , the PT guy, did their best get get me enough relief that I could ride. And ride I did! Fair warning, ART (Active Release Therapy) hurts like hades, and the worse your injury, the worse it hurts, but after a little electrode thereapy, utlrasound, and/or traction, you will feel like a new person! After weeks of suffering of suffering with some muscle strain/pain/general horribleness brought on by over-training and stubbornly refusing to take days off from my running/cycling routine, I finally relented and made an appointment for a deep tissue massage at Performance Wellness. My wife had some work done hear during the height of marathon season and she recommended it quite highly. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and asked to fill out a short questionnaire to help the therapist figure out where to focus her efforts. 15 short minutes later, I was on the massage table. I don't have a lot of massage experiences to compare this to, but I will say that the massage I received was more work than relaxation. Rather, she focused on helping alleviate my muscle issues and restoring function. And that's a good thing. My therapist (Rynice) showed no mercy as she worked the tension out of my IT bands and so forth. It was exactly what I needed. Also, they spare you the new age music here (unless you request it). After it was all over, my muscles were more or less back to normal and I had no pain for the rest of the day. I now realize the importance of sports massage as part of a vigorous workout regimen. Next time, I will not wait so long to make an appointment. read more

I have been going here for trigger point therapy, therapeutic massage, and dry needling for approximately 2 years. I love the staff and the high quality treatment I've received for multiple injuries and pain. Dr. Shanner has improved my mobility and reduced scar tissue after being hit by a car on my bike and undergoing two surgeries for a tib/fib fracture. He had helped me overcome a tremendous amount of pain in my life. Dan is an excellent and very attentive therapist who has taught me how to use therapy, strength exercises, and stretching to improve my condition. Slade has the monkey death grip down and is such a kind, gentle therapist. He is the only person who has put needles in my body and he truly is a healer. Highly recommended! Finally, Nicole is not only my therapist but also a good friend. Her bodywork is intuitive and she has identified problems in my neck and shoulders caused from clinching my jaw. Highly recommend this place for all things related to body stress, pain, and injury. The performance club makes it more affordable and my insurance co-pays really helped. I was in PAIN!!! I couldn't even walk without having shooting pain down my legs. I couldn't sleep through the night. I threw my back out in a volleyball tournament. I found Performance Wellness on Yelp. THank you Lawd!! I got Katie C. She has sheer magic hands. Now this was not a spa like scene. We chatted and laughed as she did my massage. But I didn't care because she rubbed out some pretty bad juju I had in my body. I didn't have to say a word, she knew exactly where the pain was and even the spots that I didn't think had tension. After my massage, I was massage drunk and seeing stars. I napped and drank water for the rest of the day, but I was no longer in pain. The next day I was walking and I had finally slept through the night. She's the best. I've had massages at nice spas and at places that have specials on your first visit. No more. I have been going to see Chris Sellers for the last 5 years. He always finds a way to get me "back" in shape and on the course (18 hole course that is). My visits are always quick, in and out. 15 minutes of chiro work/ART followed by 15-30 minutes of therapy. I have never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes after walking in and his staff is awesome.
