Chiropractic is looked down on by conventional medicine, but as they say, the proof is in the results. Medical doctors generally have exactly two tools in their toolbox, drugs and surgery, because that's usually all they're taught in med school. Chiropractic doctors go beyond that with various other tools, most notably direct physical manipulation. The experience of both my wife and I has been that chiropractic doctors are more knowledgeable, more concerned with our well-being, and more successful in treating orthopedic pain than medical doctors. That's certainly true in this clinic. In particular, Dr. Arbuckle has been exceptional in helping my wife with her pain. After a medical doctor didn't help her, I suggested Dr. Arbuckle whom I'd seen myself, on the basis of "it couldn't hurt to try". Since then I can't count how many times she's thanked my for suggesting she go, because Dr. Arbuckle has really been helping her. read more

Austin Sports Therapy is great! Dr. Jesus Perez saw our daughter after she rolled her ankle while playing softball. He was not only knowledgeable about how to treat her, he also made her very comfortable during some mandatory moments of discomfort. Immediately after the session, our daughter was already able to walk more normally and with less pain. She has been doing the mobility exercises Dr. Perez sent and is feeling so much better. Thank you Austin Sports Therapy and Dr. Perez for getting our daughter on a much faster (and better) road to recovery! read more

Tommer works on my sciatic and back issues thru manipulation and some chiropractors moves. Always a pleasure.

If I can give 10 stars I would! My daughter is an elite athlete and have been competing for over 7years once she turned black belt at an international level. She was diagnosed with additional bone near the balls of her hip joints (both sides!) and was told she needed to pick another sport by orthopedic surgeons. She used to experience extreme pain including loss of feeling down her entire leg at times causing her to not make it out of the Semi-final rounds as she got older and competition grew. Over many years of not knowing what was happening, she would be forced to stretch beyond her range of motion unknowingly, causing her entire pelvis to twist out of place to deal with the extreme pain of the bone on bone wear and tear on both of her hip joints. After working with many specialists, PT's and chiropractors for over 3yrs because she would not give up competing in the sport of choice, we thought that she would have to give up her dream of making the National Team. Then, we found Dr Arbuckle and in about year of therapy which helped her to continue to compete during that time with greater flexibility, she finally was able to start kicking close to vertical (something she was not able to do because of her medical condition and the resulting twisted pelvis) and gaining greater strength without the excruciating pains in her entire legs and hips. She actually made the National Team and will be representing the US. This would not have been possible without him! He has also helped me after a nasty fall from a bike at a high speed and my mother with her pains from her knee surgery as well as her long term bad back problems. I cannot recommend Dr Arbuckle enough for people who suffer from pains whatever problem they may have. Everyone who we've referred him have had great results with his therapies! My daughter would not have been able to achieve her goals without him. The other therapists in his office are also very good and know what they are doing as we've seen others in the office when Dr Arbuckle was not able to see her on rare occasions, because his schedule was completely full when she would suffer an injury for which she needed immediate attention. We have a lot of experience with many chiropractors and PT specialists over many years and Dr Arbuckle and his therapists are really the best we've ever experienced!!! read more

I discovered Austin Sports Therapy a few years ago when my back went out. These folks were helpful in getting me back on my feet. Dr. Arbuckle uses a style called Active Release Technique that works really well for me. The office staff is wonderful and will quickly respond to emails or calls to get you scheduled. read more

As someone who regularly gets injured and/or needs orthopedic surgeries for various conditions, I'm very particular about who I see for therapy. When I moved back to Austin I didn't have a great network of people to make referrals so went to Yelp to find a few options. Fortunately the reviews and expectations matched the treatment that I've been receiving from Dr. Tommer Arbuckle. Tommer goes above and beyond and has kept my body functioning, especially in advance of an orthopedic surgery that I need (extra bone on ball of hip, nothing that therapy can fix). Without his excellent care I wouldn't be nearly as active as I am now, and he always goes the extra mile to make sure that he's resolved my symptoms. Additionally, he's very thorough in his follow-ups and takes the time to explain "the why" not just what to do. Highly recommend him and his team! read more

I have been going to see Dr Tommer for years now and I can not recommend him and his office more! He is an fabulous therapist who treats you like a dear best friend! I know Dr Jill is equally fabulous. Glad I found them Tommer has helped me not only with therapy but recommendations on other Drs when needed. read more

Doc Collin is awesome. I came in with a lot of knee pain. Turned out my knees were good but my hip and ankle are messed up causing my knee to overcompensate. Collin stretched me out which, hurt really good and sent me home with a bunch of stretching videos. Now I am healed. Absolutely amazing. read more

I've been to a lot of physical therapists and chiropractors in my life for a slew of sports-related injuries and Kyler Brown of Austin Sports Therapy is hands-down the best. When I first went to him a couple years ago he solved a chronic calf-injury problem that had been plaguing me for years. I had been to therapists in Chicago and Austin over a period of 5 years and none came close to figuring out or fixing what was wrong. Dr. Brown identified the problem immediately and had me back running after only a couple weeks. I've been going back to him and Austin Sports Therapy ever since for injuries and preventive treatment and wouldn't go to anyone else. read more

So glad I was referred to Dr. Jill Thomson. She has a great personality and is highly skilled. Don't worry if you're on the large side (like me) as she works with the UT football team, including 350lb lineman. Went to see her on the advice of a doc I saw about an Achilles tendon strain I sustained during a co-ed softball game. The PT at the doc's office couldn't see me for initial visit for almost 3 weeks! I laughed when the appointment person asked if i wanted to schedule the appt. I don't know many people who have a sports injury and are ok with waiting nearly 3 weeks to start physical therapy. Sheesh! Dr. Jill is different than other PTs who just ask you where it hurts, then give you some exercises and send you on your way. Dr. Jill uses hands-on techniques that have sped my healing process dramatically. I highly recommend her and plan to utilize her as my chiropractor once my Achilles injury heals. Thanks Dr. Jill! read more

Highest recommendations. I see Dr. Jordan Pellien and I can't sing his praises enough. 1) The clinic is always on time. This is especially amazing because he never seems rushed in the slightest. He is very thorough and spends as much time as needed making me all better. 2) I have been to many OTHER chiropractors who want to do a bunch of X-rays and set me up with Bi-weekly appointments. Jordan is not about that at all. He is clearly there to help people and not squeeze every time out of them. He has never even recommended booking a follow up appointment unless I felt like I needed one. 3) He is so knowledgable and has excellent bedside manner. He thoroughly explains what is going on and what I can expect. 4) He is a genuinely nice guy. Always super friendly. I always leave happy and feeling much better!!! read more

Austin Sports Therapy has been a god-send for me. I have always been very active and athletic, participating in dance, field hockey, track, and cross-country, and any other sports I could get my hands on. But all that changed when I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after a car accident in 2004. I have been living with constant pain in my neck, back and shoulders for more than 6 years. After seeing over 30 doctors and medical professionals, healers, etc. I was at my wit's end. The pain was increasing year by year and I was unable to finish school or continue working, let alone participate in any sports or heavy exercise. I was referred to Dr. Arbuckle by a friend and spoke with him on the phone before my first appointment. I told him I was a difficult case, very mysterious and difficult and to only take me on if he thought he could help me. He was up to the challenge and we began treatments in June 2010. So far, I have made good progress in my neck and shoulders. The scar tissue, and fascia in my shoulders and back are softening and I am more pliable to adjustments. I am able to swim 3 times and week and sometimes go for light jogging. This was all impossible before. Also my pain has gone down a few points and I was able to go a month without painkillers. We still have a ways to go, but I am grateful beyond belief for Dr. Arbuckle's treatment. Not just the ART and adjustments, but his kind words and friendly demeanor. I am so used to seeing robotic doctors with little or no sense of humanity and that is not the case here. All of the chiropractors at Austin Sports Therapy are professional, friendly, hard-working. Most importantly, they sincerely want to get you well-back to living a normal life and enjoying the activities you used to participate in whether it be running, dancing, football, etc. I know that with continued treatments and physical therapy, I will be able to participate in all of the activities I used to enjoy as well. Keep up the great work guys! read more

When you're in your 30s, are a wannabe athlete, and are prone to minor injuries, aches, and pains, it's always a good idea to have a good PT/Chiro on hand. My little black book of Dr.'s has been tossed thanks to Dr. Tommer and Dr. Michael. I manage to pick up little injuries from things not even related to power lifting, but it's those injuries that then affect my lifts. I started coming to Dr. Tommer because of the great reviews here on Yelp and am so glad I did. He really takes his time to listen to what's bothering me and then makes sure to focus on not only those areas, but other areas that could affect that main problem area. I've been to PT's/Chiro's before where they try to get you to come in every week for months on end which I just can't afford. Dr. Tommer had me come in every week for a few weeks, but his goal was to have me to the point where I was only coming in when needed which happened quickly. He not only takes care of my issues in the office, but provides me with stretches and exercises I can do at home to help. He's even taken the time to send me a couple emails with additional information. Although they don't take insurance, I feel that their fees are very fair when you think of the quality of care you're getting. I can also usually get in the same week if not the next day when I call the front desk which is a huge plus since I only call when I'm in pain. I've also seen Dr. Michael when Dr. Tommer wasn't available and he's just as great. Very knowledgeable and takes his time to focus on the issues. Dr. Tommer will even pop in real quick to say hi and check up on me which just shows the level of care and professionalism these guys have. I can't sing their praises enough! I will never go to another place so long as I live in Austin. These guys are very kind, friendly, knowledgeable, and never rushed. Even if you're just a wannabe athlete like me, it's worth the visit! read more

Tommer is the ONLY Chiro I will go to. I send ALL my clients to him because I trust him. I went to the CAP 10 k expo and came across a chiropractor who was giving a discount for racers. I signed up purely for experience of the body. Let's just say, he was a chiropractic professional with a good heart and great kinesiology language. Tommer Arbuckle is going to ALWAYS be my go to guy. He understands every body is different and is very gentle. He's never adjusted my neck, and he only adjusts my back if I let him. The guy I saw today...well didn't give a shit and did it anyway...but I told him I trusted him. never say that to a Chiro if you don't believe it. read more

I will definitely be keeping Austin Sports Therapy on speed dial. I had a bad crash just a couple weeks before a big competition (I had many painstaking months of training leading up to this). I landed on my hip in a bike race, and was barely mobile the following day. I felt pretty hopeless when I limped in. Dr. Tommer was able to see me 3 times within the week leading up to my race, and he used active release therapy to help treat my injury. End of story: I came home with a National Championship and from now on, Austin Sports Therapy will be where I go whenever I have pain or injury. Dr. Tommer is wonderful!! read more

I had back/neck problems for years. I had tried physical therapy, two different chiropractors, massage, an orthopedic doctor and pills and nothing had helped me. I had gotten used to living with constant pain. Finally I was referred to Dr. Arbuckle's office by a personal trainer. I'm SO glad I was given their name! Dr. Arbuckle has fixed problems I have had for years in less than 2 months. I credit him with finally being pain-free and regaining full range of motion. I cannot recommend Dr. Arbuckle or his fellow doctors in this practice highly enough. If other doctors have told you that there is no cure or you haven't seen the results you want, give these guys a chance. They're AMAZING. read more

I started an intense fitness program a little over a month ago and I was referred to AST by my personal trainer. I had been experiencing some pain in my foot and calf throughout our workouts. Long story short, I'm one of those guys who realized I'd been idle too long and decided to go from 0 to 60 overnight. Well, because of my challenges, my trainer highly recommended I see Dr. Kyler Brown. She said he's the best at what he does and he'd have me back on my feet in no time. After a couple of sessions with Kyler, I'm noticing significant improvement. I really like how thorough he is in explaining what's causing the issues and what he's doing to correct them. He also does a great job of keeping conversation going to keep your mind off of what he's doing. If you are looking for the best, give Kyler a call. read more

As an athlete who does lots of olympic lifting, I am prone to injury. Whenever my lower back or wrist puts me out of commission, a few sessions with the good doctors at Austin Sports Therapy always gets me back up to speed. I see Dr. Jill when I go here and she's fantastic. It's a combination of things: She's very cool and laid back, she works with athletes so they know how they function and how they think and how much they want to push themselves, and she gives practical advice rather than woo woo stuff or the kind of thing regular doctors do where it's like "Oh okay just don't do anything for 3 months." read more

Dr. Tommer Arbuckle is outstanding at what he does. It never fails that I sit around hurting for days and I finally can't take it any longer then he fixes it in one visit. He knows exactly what to do and is very thorough and patient. He has also been treating my ten year old son for a few years and my son actually asks to go to him when he needs to. He had a different DC hurt him while trying to adjust his neck and that really spooked him. Tommer's technique is so much more than "popping" the joints. He gets to the source of the problem and gets the body moving the way it should. read more

I am a mother who works full time and loves to workout. Which means that my sciatica can give me problems and leave me in pain. I was recommended to Kylar through my trainer and he had me back in motion in no time. I also see Jordan from time to time and he is just as great. Dr Tommer Arbuckle has worked miracles on me through several sports injuries, including neck compression and post-op rotator cuff issues. I see him whenever I have even a minor issue because he has prevented many things from becoming really awful. He gives excellent advice and at-home exercises to prevent and lessen problems. This entire practice seems to operate on the philosophy that it's better to get people taking care of themselves all along rather than scheduling continual visits to their office -- which seems to be unique among chiropractic offices. read more

I can't speak for any of the practitioners but Tommer Arbuckle. He's amazing! Nothing has helped me like Dr. Tommer and his active release approach. read more

Simply put, Jill is a miracle worker. She spends time working to address your concern or pain point fully, and I always leave feeling much better, and the next day, the issue is usually completely gone. She also just a great energy to be around. Highly recommend! read more

I was carried in and I walked out. I scheduled an appointment for the morning after injuring my lower back. I was advised over the phone on what to do in the mean time. I arrived at her office and was carried up to her floor by two incredibly kind PTs. I couldn't even get out of the car without their help. After ART treatment and ice, I was able to walk out on my own power. My second visit has netted the same drastic jump in recovery. The entire staff is incredibly kind and positive which is so uplifting when dealing with an injury. I have been going to Dr. Kyler Brown for about 3 years. I first started going for a torn meniscus on my right knee, which I ended up needing surgery for. With Kyler's help I was back to running in no time. He also was able to solve the mystery of my left foot going numb due to my sciatic nerve, he was able to get it to release and feeling came back to my foot. I Recently I had Hip Arthroscope on my left Hip due to a birth defect. Kyler prepped my Hip a month before and had me doing specific exercises before the surgery to help in the recovery. I was walking fine within 3 weeks which is amazing considering the extent of the surgery. My full recovery is now estimated to be 4 months instead of 6. I attribute this to Kyler's knowledge about my issue, taking the time to prep my hip properly for surgery and following up with me after surgery to ensure i was on the right path to a speedy recovery! I highly recommend him! read more

I love these guys. They set me straight every time I injure myself, which unfortunately is not an infrequent occurrence. I have literally gone in almost unable to walk and walked out feeling fine. I was having significant, recurring knee pain for several months before our cycling season began last year. I saw Dr. Tommer Arbuckle and in a few sessions he had completely eliminated the pain and had me racing just a few weeks later. Fast forward another year to a new problem: I woke up with pain in my neck that extended down my back and into my elbow. I have never had pain like that. It kept me up all night, I could barely get out of bed, much less be able to exercise like I'm used to. Again Dr. Arbuckle worked his magic and I left feeling 90% better. The remaining 10% dissipated over then next couple of days. I can't recommend him high enough. If you're ever in need of any chronic or acute pain relief, He's your man. read more
