Good God Almighty! Now that's a charcuterie board!
Bruce B.

During my entire existence in life on this planet, I had never drunk hard cider until early this year when destiny brought me to Texas Keeper Cidery. Damn! I had no idea what I had been missing! Now I'm addicted to the juice! Since discovering cider here, I've tried other off-brand ciders at bars elsewhere around Austin, and I must say, so far, all of those hard ciders have sucked balls compared to Texas Keeper. Not even close as good. Not even close. And the main reason for my current apple-based downfall is Honey Thief. Honey Thief is the stuff I'm addicted to. That cider has got a criminal hold on my soul. I don't know exactly what kind of sorcery they used to make it, but whatever they did worked. The first time I had it, I immediately understood that my life had been divided into two eras: the dark, meaningless years before Honey Thief, and the glorious age of knowing Honey Thief exists. It is smooth, dangerous, delicious, and wildly easy to fall in love with. At this point, I'm pretty sure if somebody told me I could never have Honey Thief again, I would collapse dramatically onto the nearest wooden floor like a widow just informed that her husband was slain in the war. But Texas Keeper isn't just out here humiliating every other cider in Texas. The food is badass, too! The Not-So-Little-City Sammie is by far my favorite sandwich at the moment. That thing flat-out rules. Smoked turkey breast, fig cream cheese, arugula on toasted baguette -- it sounds like something a woodland elf would eat for second-lunch, but somehow it also hits like the exact sandwich your heart and stomach have been looking for your whole life. Every time I go, I tell myself maybe I'll branch out and try something else, and every time I am revealed to be a liar. I'm getting that sandwich. Probably forever. In fact, dare I say it: the ALL-TIME BEST SANDWICH! And the pretzels? Really freakin' good. Unreasonably great, actually. Suspiciously magical, honestly. Warm, soft, salty, and exactly the kind of thing that makes you think, Are the rest of y'all aware of what is going on right now? Because this pretzel is showing off. Wizardry! The charcuterie boards are on another level entirely. These are not sad little snack plates for people pretending to be fancy. These are serious boards stocked high with a vast variety of vittles -- the kind of boards that make you feel like you should be wearing a cloak, posted up in a torchlit taproom with your adventuring party, dividing loot, talking strategy, and preparing to roll for initiative against whatever nightmare awaits beyond these cidery walls. Everything on them is ridiculously good, and Lindsey, Jordan, and Jill are usually the ones back there preparing the food, so they deserve the credit for putting together something that feels less like random bar snacks and more like a feast worthy of heroes. Now I do have to address the tinned fish. What the fuck is up with that?! Texas Keeper is literally the only place I have ever personally seen tinned fish on a menu, but I was told this is some sort of hipster trend or something. I guess I missed the secret meeting where everybody decided it was time to start peeling back little metal lids and eating preserved seafood, so that must mean that I am not a hipster, which suits me fine. Mussels in olive oil and vinegar? Sardines? Mackerel in a tin? I'm not even saying it's bad. I'm just saying it is funny as hell to me that in the middle of all this incredible cider, killer sandwiches, amazing pretzels, and elite charcuterie, there is also a section of the menu that basically says, Excuse me, would you also like to eat some fish out of a can? All in all, Texas Keeper Cidery is just flat-out AWESOME. Great cider, incredible food, cool atmosphere, and somehow the whole place has managed to turn me into a man who never even thought about drinking cider into one who now judges all other ciders against the ones served here and finds them lacking. Badly. So, from here on out, I will only drink cider from Texas Keeper. If you're anywhere around Far South Austin -- so far south that it's in Manchaca -- and have not gone, fix your life.

Texas Keeper Cidery is one of those hidden gems you'll want to visit again and again. Tucked beneath a canopy of oak trees, it feels less like a business and more like you're spending the afternoon at a friend's house with that nostalgic old Austin vibe. Their unique selection of handcrafted ciders offers something for every palate, and the food menu is the perfect complement. Whether you choose to relax on the peaceful patio or settle in indoors, you'll instantly feel right at home. A must-visit for anyone looking to slow down, sip, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Had a lovely evening at the cidery today! We tried all their sliders as flights, August Cerise, Golden Russet and Honey Thief were our group favorites. We also sampled sime red wine. We were very impressed with their small cheese board and the nut and olives appetizers. Good variety and quality ingredients.

My husband stopped in early on my birthday to have a cider and say hi to Lindsey, the manager. She is always so great to see and chat with! First time I was at Texas Keeper was for a wedding I was working at. They were incredible to work with and I highly recommend this as an event venue! Besides an incredible venue it is a lovely place to go and relax and try a delicious cider! They have all sorts of ciders that are perfect for anyone. My husband doesn't like cider and Lindsey was able to offer him a couple of different options that had more of a beer focus for the flavor profile. I had the Goldrush (my favorite as it is nice, light and crisp). Let's just say I won as he told me I was right and there was something there that he would like! I cannot wait to go back, try some other ciders and something off of the food menu!

The outdoor area is adorable; I love how this place is secluded. We tried one of their charcuterie boards & it was okay-- I wish I would have gotten the tinned fish. Service was quick, people were friendly!

This place is so underrated. It should be more popular. I love their cider. One of the best cider breweries I have ever been to. The service is 10/10. The premises is so beautiful. I come here quite often when I want a refreshing cider

Hidden Gem - if you like apples and apple cider, this is your spot. It feels like you are in a secluded area far away from everything. It has a great outdoor sitting. This place has so much potential. I wish that had not alcoholic options. Service is great and friendly. It is a local business, so support it

This is the small charcuterie board with the cheese added, we opted for Mancheho

I often do not review a place u til i have been there a few times, have had different menu items and servers as i look for consistency in all. Yes I am that girl but I know what I deserve! And Texas Keeper user has delivered 100% each and every time. Not to mention despite being in South Austin, they keep their prices reasonable which is hard to find these days. A solid pour of wine is $9 versus the customary $14 and the quality is way better than most. The quality and presentation of the food is always fantastic and the service reminds me of someone (each time) of someone who lives their job. So refreshing. And all of this and I haven't even mentioned the grounds and atmosphere. You just "feel" happy there, can't help it. 10 out of 10!!

What an awesome hidden treasure! Great ambiance, great cider, and relaxed feel all together! Will absolutely be back! Can't wait to try their food menu!

Highly slept on place and can't believe I'd never been before. The atmosphere is so great for an afternoon hangout. The staff was really friendly. It wasn't busy at all which was surprising. We didn't love all the options we tasted but there were some very good ones! I took my sister during her visit because she loves ciders and she really enjoyed!

Friend trivia

What can I say, Texas Keeper Cider is a hidden gem! Seriously I have four friends that all live within 5 minutes of TKC and none of them had been before My first time visiting was for Friends Trivia hosted by Get It Gals....the place was packed, the playlist was great, and everyone had a blast. The Office trivia was outside the next time and was a perfect night under the string lights/ except trivia was super rushed. I might try the general Friday night trivia next time. The charcuterie board was devoured, the frose disappeared despite second rounds, and the bottles of cider were left empty. Luckily you can grab a bottle of blanc, rose, or gold rush to take home. And don't forget you can send TKC as a gift - shipping was easy and fast! Such a nice way to share a little of Texas I'm excited to try their new autumn release and learn more about their small batch production process. It would be nice if they added more staff, expanded their hours, and offered more food options.

Wiped out before I could get a decent photo

Cute, cute. I wasn't sure about Cider when we started this visit but I can confidently give the Heritage cider 5 stars. The cheese charcuterie board is so delicious and generously portioned. One of the owners Lindsey was generous with her time and information regarding the ciders and their process. Overall a very nice place to kick back and visit.

This was a while back, but when I went, it was around valentines and there was some event going on with belly dancing and baby chicks running around a table. Super chill, unpretentious. Everyone I talked to was kind and knew their stuff without ever being pushy. Whether you're grabbing a cider to go or just hanging out for a bit, it feels easy. Even if you're not drinking, they have options, which I really appreciated. It's the kind of spot that makes you want to come back -- not just for the drinks, but for the vibe.

We were sadden to learn that they no longer have cider on tap as they decided to go in a different direction with their business. According to Chelsea, Moontower manager, their SoCo Ginger Beer has taken off like a rocket. The ginger beer is being sold in Whole Food stores and other east coast groceries. In addition, they are focusing on special events, i.e., company, birthdays, etc. They had an art show event over the weekend. The hubs and I are not beer drinkers, but like to experiment from time to time. Cider is tolerable, so we are trying to expand our drinking palate. Since were at Moontower, we gave the bottled ginger beer a whirl. Generally, we are not fans of ginger beer primarily due to the beer taste. It was surprising really very good and non-alcoholic. It has the consistency of kombucha and made with fresh ingredients. The Moontower space is small with indoor and covered outdoor seating. The Cider company is no-frills nor fancy, however, Chelsea was very friendly. It has a kind of no-frills type of personality. In addition, while parking in front of the building is limited, street parking is available.

I also hope that it sticks around after other breweries in the area have closed recently (RIP Oskar Blues, Circle Brewery, etc.) There is a food truck outside, Spicy Boys Chicken, that specializes in Korean Chicken. The menu is limited but I did find everything that we ordered to be very tasty. Back in the cidery, I loved that they had a wide variety of options to choose from including NA drinks, zero sugar drinks and other ones as well. It seemed like there was something for everyone. On Thursdays they host Geeks Who Drink Trivia which is pretty fun to participate in with a group. If you've played their version of trivia before, you'll know that its pretty entertaining even if you don't have the most trivia-inclined groups. I very much enjoy having this wonderful establishment in my neighborhood and I hope that it sticks around for a long time.
